Wierd issue. Use to work but not now. When I'm on Bluetooth and take or make a phone call on Bluetooth... And then after the call try and play media through Bluetooth, it won't have sound. Max volume. Shows as playing. But nothing. Not even through phone speaker. It's as if the dialer app didn't release the Bluetooth control after the call.
Only way to fix is to turn off Bluetooth and back on.
Anyway to fix?
I had this happen once or twice, but not recently. I use bluetooth in my car but my factory radio in my car only has BT for calls, not music. I have a small A2DP device that plays music through the AUX in on the radio. A few times if I took a call via BT for the car, when the call ended the music wouldn't resume. I'd go to Spotify and it showed as playing but no sound came out. I never tried resetting bluetooth because when I'm driving it's easier to just hold power until the phone reboots, then it works fine.
mine does it when I'm using the amazon music player, doesn't matter if I'm on a call or not. Every now and then it just stops sending audio to the radio. If I turn the phone on, the lockscreen shows that the song is playing, but zero audio.
If I pause / play / pause on the lockscreen it usually resumes playing. Very odd issue. Still better than the problems I was having with my note4.
I've seen this issue on android for years. I'll have the same issue if I say Okay Google and Google doesn't recognize what I say.

Hey everyone, just upgraded to the atrix, loving the phone so far but I've recently come across an issue and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem (or can explain why it occurs):
when listening to audio I turn off the screen and about 2-5 minutes in (sometimes more, sometimes less) the audio just stops. The headset doesn't disconnect, the music just cuts out and when I bring up the music player and hit play it just starts it over from the beginning. However if I leave the screen on the entire time I'm playing audio, it never cuts out
I use a motorola S305 bluetooth headset, the files are .mp3 format and I've tried playing them from SDcard and internal phone storage..they played perfectly fine on my HTC HD2 with the same headset so it's not the files themselves or the headset. Anyone else have this issue?
Interesting. I noticed the same thing last night. Doesn't always do that, but I thought it was weird when it did. I'm using the same s305 headset.
I was just about to post this! it's so annoying. It will play fine forever until i turn the screen on to do something, then it turns off the audio like 3 minutes into the song. what's worse, it's not pausing it, it's stopping it. if you check the music player, the position on the song will be reset. very annoying for audio books!
I just tested it playing thru the phone speaker and it shuts off in about 3 minutes as well, doesn't seem to be related to bluetooth at all.
Is the player added to your ignore list in any task manager/killer?
Personally, i've tried 3 players, the stock music player,Mixzing and Poweramp. all three do exactly the same thing. No task killers installed, with the built in task manager, it's not added to the kill list. I'm rooted btw.
I am having a similar problem to this and I was just about to post, when streaming via bluetooth to my car stereo using Pandora, my phone will completely freeze and after maybe 1 min of freeze will do a complete reboot. I even restored phone and it still does it.
I've looked around and this was common awhile back, last year, haven't seen any recent posts about it though.
when i play music through google music app on my G2 it will pause randomly, and pretty frequently. it will go through stretches where it auto pauses every like 5 seconds, as soon as i unpause and set phone down it pauses again. then it will be fine for a few songs then states pausing again.
this happens when streaming over wifi, or cell signal. also while playing music that is stored directly on my phone so no streaming issue. also happens while connected over bluetooth, headphone jack, or just playing from phone's speakers, so no bluetooth or headphone jack connection issue.
is there anyway to stop this?

I am having the exact same issue. Multiple sets of headphones as well. This is kind of a scary thing for me since I plan to use my phone for some of the playlists for my wedding.
No update...?
Im having the same issue as well. Songs will randomly pause. Youtube does too. Any suggestions? I have tried 3 finger swipe to 'save the app' and reducing active programs. Happens with bluetooth and headphones.
Did a search and didn't see this problem discussed...
My Moto X Pure has great audio volume by itself through its own speakers, until...
My problems arise after turning on bluetooth, connecting to something such as my car's radio or my Vizio bluetooth sound bar, listening to music a little bit or even a while and then turning off bluetooth and just using my phone normally. When I return to using my phone normally, my audio is so low. I can barely hear any notifications, lock/unlock sounds, music, etc. All volume sliders are still turned all the way up but still, low audio.
Again, this only happens after I've used bluetooth audio, stopped using it and returned to regular phone speaker operation.
The only fix I've found, and it's not a fix obviously, is to reboot the phone. Audio is back to normal, loud after the reboot. But then connect it via bluetooth to something and play music, stop, turn off bluetooth, the audio is once again verrrryyyyy low even though all volume sliders are all the way up.
Anyone else having this problem?
Android 6.0.0 here.
TL;DR I LOVE my phone, these Bluetooth issues are going to make me smash it into a million pieces. Any custom rom's or fixes for the OEM rom that FIXES them once and for all? I had NONE of these issues on Android 5 on my old phone. A factory fresh phone with no added apps is STILL unstable.
Long read:
I pre-ordered the 6P and have had a mixed relationship with it the past 6 months, the thing pissing me off most is the Bluetooth on this thing.
I DID install MHC19I and it did not help, with anything.
Here's what's happening.
#1 I have a Moto 360 watch that drops bluetooth connection and when it restores, google voice search on the watch remains broken until I restart the phone. This was not an issue on my old phone.
#2 I also am having hell with headsets/speakers. I will be listening to a speaker, get a call, and the damn music doesn't pause and starts playing over the headset AFTER I answer the call, this isn't everytime, but it happens enough to piss me off.
#3 When I hang up the call, the sound does not always go back to the speaker, it says it is, but I hear nothing OR it says it is, and I hear the music coming from the phone. Play Music, Pandora, and Spotify. I have to go into bluetooth settings and force a reconnect. This is happening in my Car, in my house with my Yamaha BT receiver, with a Logitech BT adapter, and a jbl bluetooth speaker.
#4 Sometimes when I first reconnect to the speaker after being out of range, the sound stays at the phone even though it says the speaker is connected.
#5 Just can not keep a stable connection with my 2016 Acadia. The phone has locked up on multiple occasions when either making or receiving phone calls through the car. "Phone has stopped" or something like that.
I upgraded to Android N in an attempt to improve my situation in the least and I don't know what I expected. It's way worse.
Compound all the issues above with:
#1 Delayed notifications to my watch (it starts vibrating to notify me of a call AFTER my ringer has already been ringing 30 seconds)
#2 "mute phone calls on the phone" when connected to watch is broken (The ringer goes off no matter how many times I flip the setting on and off)
#3 It stops broadcasting the playing song information to the display via bluetooth to my car or receiver FREQUENTLY
#4 Answering a phone call via bluetooth occasionally locks up requiring a disconnection from the headset and then I can proceed with the call on the phone.
#5 It either doesn't send the audio to the headset and/or the bluetooth and watch controls lock up (can't change song or control volume, but the music continues playing fine.)
#6 The BIGGEST issue was my 2013, and now my 2016 GMC Acadia. I am going to crash it one of these days with all the dicking around I am doing with the phone when trying to listen to music or take a phone call.
Anyone? I am seriously contemplating giving up EVERYTHING I like about android and getting an iPhone JUST because of these Bluetooth issues (which DO NOT exist on the iPhone 6s).
I solved all my bluetooth issues by turning bluetooth volume all the way up, then turning it down 4 steps from full volume. No drop outs or disconnects from anything since!
I think you must have a defective phone. I have zero problems with Bluetooth on the 6p and I have 10+ Bluetooth devices I use at least 3 of them daily.
Sorry you're having trouble...
I completely factory reset my phone. NO third party apps. Running MHC19I. Music has been fine all day, phone calls are still a problem.
I dial a number, it say's dialing, but I never hear it ringing in my headset. Then the caller picks up and the call timer starts counting. I can clearly see it says it's sending audio via bluetooth and I hear NOTHING. Same on my car shows it's being sent to the radio, but the radio never get's the clue. It works when it wants too, and a restart of the phone always fixes it when it isn't working. It's very frustrating.
I think u might have a defective device BC I'm not experience any of these with my Bluetooth headset. And I'm Stock on MHC19i also .. Sorry u having these bad experiences.

I've just got the V20 and it links with my car OK for bluetooth. Works with calls. But for audio, it comes through the phones speaker. I can see the song name on my car dash and control it, pause, skip, etc. But it's not playing through the car's speakers. Any ideas?
Mine will do that occasionally for a minute or so, but then connects to my Kenwood and goes as expected. Have you checked the BT settings for your car?
Randomly happens to me too, but when it does, it'll stay playing through the phone until I do something about it. The only solution I've found is to completely disable the phone's bluetooth, then re-enable it and reconnect. Its very annoying! Glad to hear I'm not the only one though. I though something was going wrong with my car!!!
Thanks for the responses. I noticed this morning it had messed up sound playing through my external speaker until I rebooted when playing a video. I usually have my phone on android auto, so it's not an issue. But that's a battery killer, not recharger so I sometimes just plug it into the charger instead. Hopefully future updates will fix this!
