Clear Google app storage, reboot and long press home button. It's already available on other phones.

Does anyone have the latest Google Now Apk? I uninstalled it because I thought I wasn't going to use it, and....well, I kind of want it back. I did make a android backup when I rooted, but that was a loooong time ago. I still have Google, Google search, voice, etc. I just don't have Now, and it's not on the play store. Could anyone help me out?
I'm running 4.2.1 at the moment.

Google Now is in the play store for me, it's listed as Google Search
That's odd...
I searched Google Search in the market, clicked "uninstall" , which uninstalled the updates, then reinstalled the updates, and now it's showing up. Odd...
Ah well, it works now. Thanks a lot, ronnie498. Not sure what happened, but it's working now.

I had to change the language from English(Israel) to English(United States), I guess it is affecting location settings.
but it works in Israel perfectly now!
Is this down for anyone else? Generic ones work. Remind me to watch TV works. Remind me to watch TV @ 10:00 doesn't.
Thanks

There is a problem, I cannot connect to Google Now. Also Google Services has been burning up my battery all day.

Google search was just updated today..
Could be a bug.
I disabled Google Now a while ago, and wanted to try it again. Disabled, uninstalled and installed again Search, but now it says Google Now is not available and it doesn't show in Search Settings.
Weird. Is it on my end or something's up with Google?

I had turned off Google Now yesterday due to it keeping my phone from sleeping since it could not connect because of server problems. I cleared the data/cache and launched again now all seems to be fine.

Do you have it as an option in Google Search > Settings? I only have Voice, Phone Search and Privacy & Accounts. Did the same steps as you, but nothing yet. Thought I'd give it some time to sync something...
Found this on a Google support forum, and maybe it really is Google's issue.

I'm not from the US btw, but from Macedonia, SE Europe.

First, I froze Google Search in Titanium Backup then when I unfroze it I cleared data.cache and relaunched this morning. For me Google Now is part of Google Search not sure that it would be any different for you being in Europe.

Some friends have Google Now working, and they are all completely stock. I have CWM and fk installed. Waiting for 4.4 to come out soon, when I'll do full wipe and install via fastboot and see if it starts working when stock.
Thanks for the info and help though. Cheers!

Dont worry... Its a bug... From your carrier signal , it appears that you are currently roaming. Play store updates are not getting downloaded over mobile data when roaming.. I experienced the same issue... It will work fine over wifi or if you get back to your proper circle ... Hopefully a fix is on the way
Hey thanks for replying....... But is this normal...... Phone being wake all night..... Even after screen off and almost all essential apps greenified..... And play services not updating......
Thanks in advance.....

What the heck did you do? Are you unlocked or rooted? If you know what you are doing then start all over and stop messing with stuff until it's stable. And no, it's not normal.

No, there is no software bug in the OS. You need to stop whatever apps you have running or reset the device and start over.
The battery should improve in a day or so after google play services finish synchronising, just give it one to two days

Is it possible to get Google assistant on this ROM?
Sent from my ZTE A2017G using Tapatalk
Enter beta Verdion from Google app and Google play services, wait a while and update these apps than change your System language to english us and go to homescreen, you normally should have the assistant now, change language back
Even easier, just change the language to English US and reboot

I tried that but didn't work for me with my A2017G 7.1.1.
The only thing that I noticed is that the navigation in Google Maps started speaking funny... switching back...

lol the navigation thing happened to me too, but it eventually changed to English altogether
It didn't work? You only have to hold home and the dialog should appear

No, I tried, but holding home just brought up the "good old" google app.
Weird... I dunno. I did like 4 clean installs and so far it worked every time i held home...
No idea. maybe you could try getting the app, dunno
Google had announced this in march it was to be activated first in the US and then followed by the UK and several other countries.
Maybe it'll be 2018 for us.

Well I doubt it detects the country you're in. I'm in Argentina. Last place where you'd think that they would allow assistant. And I have assistant simply by using English US

No, I didn't wipe the data indeed... I'll try that later, thank you.
It doesn't work on the Chinese A2017. Assistant is installed in the Google app but it's still Google home when the ask Google. I think it's because the home button (my voice) only operates when the system language is Chinese. Unless someone writes a piece of code to fix this then it looks like I'm stuffed.
Hi all,
Sorry if this isn't the right forum to post. My essential phone seems to stop working whenever I try to scroll through the Play Store > Under Games. It's the only category that seems to do this and I'm not entirely sure as to why?
My phone is using stock android 8.1.0. I'd appreciate any help on this, I've only experienced that typically once or twice on Custom ROM's but never on a stock android without any modifications.
Thanks!
