[SOLVED] No EDL or TWRP - Stuck in Fastboot - Out of luck? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

My A2017U can only boot to Fastboot, bootloader is locked.
Cannot boot to recovery.
Cannot boot to EDL - stuck in DFU mode
Cannot boot to FTM.
Trying to flash recovery in fastboot results in an unknown command error, I'm assuming because my bootloader is locked?
Am I out of luck here?

we're on the same boat, buddy
I just put the phone back in it's box
Maybe we can try with those deep flash cables they have in aliexpress, but idk....

Bl locked means you are relying on ZTE to fix when things go wrong.
How did you get in this situation?

DEEP FLASH CABLE WORKED!!!!!
Instead of cutting into my Type C cable, I used a usb extension, stripped back the insulation, and bridged the black (ground) and green (VCC+) wires. Turned off the phone, plugged it into the PC.... Looked like nothing happened. Plugged the Type C cable directly into the PC, and it was in EDL mode!!!! Was able to flash back stock recover+boot.
Ended up doing the safer downgrade to B20+B20_boot procedure this time.

Also, you may want to unlock your bootloader. This sometimes shuts things down that'll cause issues like what you're dealing with. It's easy enough to re-lock it so that's what I would do.

If it looks like the green cable is cut... it is, I accidentally tore it when stripping back the insulation I had to tie it together to make connection.
It was quite simple... Plug the "deep flash" USB extension cable into the computer, plug the type C cable into the extension.
Make sure the phone is off, touch together the stripped back green and black wires on the extension (or tape them together, solder if you want it permanent) , and insert the type C into the phone.
Wait a couple seconds, unplug the type C cable from the extension cable, and plug it directly into the computers USB port.
At that point, mine was finally back in EDL mode instead of DFU.

Thanks ChandonPierre, but the picture link is broken.
EDIT: There it is.
I have a question, since I cannot see the picture in detail.
did you use a third piece of cable to connect green and black? or did you just connect the two pieces together?
I tried last night but the phone only charged and booted into system. No EDL mode.
I'll try again later today.

Nope, just bridged the black and green.
I think the key is to make sure the phone is completely off when you start. I had to boot into fastboot first and select "power off".

so, you just connected black and green, like, twisted them toghether?
it was powered off, it turned on when I connected, showed a lightning symbol and then the phone just tried to boot into system

Didn't even bother, literally just held them together with my fingers. As long as they're touching it shouldn't matter. If for some reason your ground wire doesn't work properly, I imagine you could ground green to something else, like a paper clip or something.
If the ground is being bridged, I don't think it should it should charge it at all

Ill get a new wire just in case too.

I'm in almost the same situation with my A2017G. It's been bricked for 2 months now. Still haven't been able to fix this.
Whatever i do, it takes me to DFU mode.
I cannot boot into fastboot. I have tried the deep flash cable though. Only thing it does is, turns the red led off. Also i cannot "power off" the phone. Whenever it has little charge it stays on. Could you please tell me how you booted into fastboot.

I tried with 2 usb cables and all they do is charge the phone and then it starts loading the rom (which boot loops).
what could be wrong?

Hi, colleagues!
Nobody knows, what could go wrong. Untill we don't have DFU soft. In the nearest thread I'm posting my axon7 behaviour.

Hello, could you provide a step by step procedure to achieve EDL?
how do you start? Off/on?
When do you connect deep flash cable?
Do you have to push a button combination? Before after connecting deep flash cable?
Do you flash with the same deep flash cable or once achieved EDL you flash with a standard USB?
Thanks for the step by step!!

I have the same problem. and using deep flash cable does not help. It always goes into DFU mode.

That is another problem. I don't know if it is possible to use the deep flash cable for that, but you might want to search for the 4th category debricking guide. You have to take your device apart but it works.

Trust me. Wow This is Magic
The Solution is a Deep Flash Cable. http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/cable_picker/99673_Xiaomi_Deep_Flash_Cable.html

Hi guys,
Well, since MotoActv dont have his own thread, i will post it here,as the title says, i will show you how to unbrick your MotoActv,
This tutorial solves:
Problems like low battery when the MotoActv wont charge and cause of battery low warning wont let you flash any software via bootloader
Bootloops
Sometimes not bootable motoactvs
This tutorial does not solve:
MotoActv with messed up bootloaders(although in some cases works /mine did worked)
Requirements:
Hardware:
Standart Usb Cable
Micro Usb to Usb Cable
Soldering Iron and Solder Wire
Aligator Clamps
Software:
A working/partially working Bootloader
ClearD's Image Flasher
A Rom(you can use any Rom,I will use Dprom)
Step 1
Disassembly the motoactv
You dont need to disassembly it all, just enough to get to battery wires.
Step 2
You need to remove the battery
Step 3
Grab your standart usb cable and cut the end point to expose the 4 wires.
Stripe the black and the red one to expose the inside wire.
Step 4
Solder the wires to the MotoActv.
Make sure the order is Red (nothing) Black (if you dont understand very well this part check the images bellow)
Step 5
Apply the alligator clamps, so that the wires dont move during the process of unbricking
Step 6
Plug the usb cable to the pc and try to turn on the motoactv.
If the screen goes on thats a good sign otherwise you should be worried.
You can now unplug the usb cable from pc and motoactv will shutdown.
Now as you should reallize the usb cable is replacing the battery by powering the motoactv in 5 v.
Step 7
Grab your micro usb to usb cable and plug the motoactv to the pc normally,
now your final setup should be something like this
Step 8
This is the most important step
You must plug the standart usb cable (the one you cutted ) to the pc,
and quickly press and hold "volume down" key and "power" key until the display lights up, when it does release both keys.
Step 9
Now MotoActv should be in a menu like this.
It's called fastboot mode or in bootloader menu.
Now you can open the clearD's image flasher put your images in images folder and flash it.
Step 10
Now the final step is assemble it all and ressolder the battery
Thank you for the in depth tutorial with great pics/video.
I wanted to share something that I found that worked for my particular situation, which didn't require me to take apart the device. First, a bit of background as to what happened to my device to begin with. I stopped ADB on my Motoactv 8GB via my desktop but forgot to reboot it afterwards. I then plugged it into a wall charger only to come back to it a few days later to find that the white LED that indicates that the device is plugged in and charging was not lit and it would not power on. I then realized that since I never rebooted the device after stopping ADB -which would have restarted it, the mini USB port was acting as a USB mass storage device the whole time and not accepting a charge to the battery.
When I attempted to turn the device on with a long press of the power button I got a momentary "M" Motorola logo before the screen went black again. I then pressed the power button and start button simultaneously and held them until I got a messages on the screen that read, "Bootloader Fastboot mode 03.11" with "Battery Low, Cannot Program" flashing below it. At this point I thought I was screwed, which led me to your post.
I then searched around a little bit on the internet and ran into this video for a motorola razr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtA4OU2xha4
I decided to give the instructions in the video a try because I had nothing to lose and figured that there might be some crossover between platforms/devices. To my dismay (but not surprise) the instructions did not translate over. However, after some tinkering around I did find a combination of buttons that did work. These are the steps I took:
1. Make sure your device is plugged into a wall charger via the mini USB port.
2. Press and hold power button for ~5 seconds, hopefully you'll see the "M" motorola logo displayed.
3. While the "M" is still displayed (it stays displayed for 1-2 seconds before the screen goes blank) long press the volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously.
4. This is when I noticed that the white charging LED indicator turned on and the screen now displayed the animated battery level/charging indicator, which was at 0% as expected.
5. After waiting for the device to charge for 5-10 minutes the battery level/charging indicator displayed 10% and I turned it on as I would normally. Low and behold, everything was back to normal.
My ACTV is rooted and running ClearDroid 1.1.3_A with LauncherPro (I haven't kept up with the latest ROMs)
Software version is MA 1.7.10 N8
To be clear, I was never stuck in a bootloop, I simply neglected to reboot my device after stopping ADB and then unintentionally let the battery drain completely. Hope this is helpful to anyone that gets stuck in the same situation that I was in and apologies if this procedure was already outlined somewhere else. Thanks!

thats a good tip, but my motoactv reach a point that it doesn't even boot to m logo, i let it on charge overnight, and it just doesnt even appear charging logo, on those cases this is the way to go, but my method is more hardcore, before start open your motoactv try this, Other tip is to hold music button, Run button and power button, this "reboots" motoactv on a diferent way.

From Dalvik to ART ------> Red Light

Title says it all. What's going on:
1) Red light is blinking
2) Fastboot works
3) If I boot to recovery, it shuts down.
4) I used the Nexus toolkit to install a Google Factory image, but it still wouldn't boot.
5) I tried the Vol. UP + Power button in order to simulate a battery pull, but it didn't work as well.
6) NO, I don't have a T5 screwdriver so if this is your answer, it doesn't help me at all.
It's on the wall charger atm and the red light is blinking. When I had connected it through USB, it showed the battery but it wouldn't boot no matter what I tried. Now, on the wall charger, it didn't show any battery level(like it did with the USB) but I left it there charging.
Any idea?
Bump, come on guys.
My phone died out when I was installing a kernel. It booted up and was switching to ART when the battery died and when I plugged it in the charger, got the red blinking light.
I used this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/tutorial-how-to-unbrick-n4-t2347060
A few things to note are that I could not get my phone in fastboot or get the battery icon when plugged in the usb. I had to leave it plugged in the wall charger overnight ( with the red light blinking ) and in the morning perform the Vol down + power button thing many times before I finally got a battery icon and then I could boot into download mode. If I booted into fastboot, it would just shut down after a few seconds
Thanks for the reply! I will download the files, might take some time because they are huge, and I will report back. Thanks again.

It displays the battery level indicator, but I cannot boot into download mode. It displays the Google logo and turns off. The same thing happens on the wall charger. Strage, because some hours ago I booted into download mode. :x

If it flashed fine then I think it went ok and all you need to do is charge up the phone. It can take a LOONG time. Getting the battery icon is the hard part. I couldn't get that. You say you get it when you plug it in your laptop right? well plug it in and let it charge to full ( you can follow the animation ) and then try turning it on.
Hope it works

Well I could barely get it into download mode. It would stick for a couple seconds and go back to the blinking red light. I let it charge for another couple hours ( this was AFTER a whole day of being plugged in the wall charger with the blinking light ). I finally got it into download mode after continuously plugging it in and holding the respective buttons. Anyways, I flashed the factory image and got the light again. So I plugged it into my laptop and tried again with the volume + - and power buttons ( that's basically all of them ) and repeated it till I got the battery icon. Then I let it stay and charge to full and then booted it up. It finally did

No mine was showing the animation. Like it went two or three steps from empty to full. You have flashed the factory image and can get into fastboot too. But when you boot up, you get the red light correct?
Plug your phone in the wall charger and try the battery pull technique every hour. Do it twice everytime just to br sure. I don't even f remember how many times I did it. Leave it overnight to charge too

When I try to boot(without it being connected to USB or charger) it doesn't boot at all. When I connect it, I get the red light and if I press the power button for 10 seconds, it will TRY to boot, showing me the Google logo, but then shuts down and shows the red light blinking.
What's the battery pull technique? Asking just to be sure.

Managed to fix my problem via pulling out the battery.
Sent from my Nexus 4

Dont use cheap chargers

So with this thread I would like to tell you what happens when you use cheap magnetic chargers.
But most of all to WARN you to be careful, because I didn't have any indication or even heard that this was possible before it happened to me.
I got my new phone twenty something days ago and today I got my cheap magnetic charger from ebay.
Not knowing there is a significant importance in the way you plug it, I managed to do it the wrong way....
What happened:
The phone shut itself off.
When connected to the wall plug it only flashes in red.
When connected to PC (win 7 64x) it pulses slowly but still no go.
When you try to flash firmware - not recognized.
When you try hard reset (volume up key + power button) - no go.
When you try the hard reset red button next to sim holder (I didn't even knew it existed) - again no go.
When you try pressing every button and praying - no go.
When you curse and threaten it so loudly that your neighbors call the police - no go.
I will try 2 more things - discharging the battery completely and charging it again over night to see what happens. If any improvements appear or don't I will edit the thread so you can learn from my misfortune and hopefully avert one of your own.
And now for the fun part:
Q: What does a XZ1c + cheap magnetic charger add up to ?
A: Red Christmas lights.
Q: What happens if you do the same thing as me?
A: You teach your phone to play dead.
Q: What should you say if people ask if your phone is bricked?
A: Tell them that you googled images of dark chocolate
And if you want to know how the cable looks like here's a link - next to it you can see burned to black 200 euros :crying:

Update
Phone is completely and utterly bricked.
Discharging and charging has no effect.
Flashtool doesn't recognize the phone when I want to flash ftf.
Another person with the same issue contacted me, he told me that these are the signs of a burned mobo, in his case the lcd was a goner too...
So now you know, please if you read this be careful, this could happen to other xperias with magnetic charging I suppose
For the people that posted up till now:
im not sure the cheap carger cause this... could be other harware failure or even sw.

You most definitely can plug the Chinese fakes in the wrong way. Virtually no extra force required, and the phone instantly crashes/reboots.
Thankfully mine didn't suffer any permanent damage
Strange...
I bought that adapter: http://www.dx.com/p/aluminum-alloy-...dapter-for-sony-z1-z1-mini-more-silver-320911
It's working like a charm... No problems at all, charging time is the same... :highfive:

As you can see (or not) ;p in my Chinese charger cable I have two different plug wholes and because of that I can't plug my charger in different way as normal way i bought it for 5 euro 6 months ago and for now it charge fast as normal stock charger so for me good deal
Same thing happened to my phone, though it came back after a while after hitting the red button.
Timeline:
- slept with phone at ~70%
- woke up to a phone that is turned off
- no LED when charged through the magnetic charger or the USB port
- PC does not recognize phone
- held power button: no response. Held power+down: no response. Pressed red button: no response.
- left phone plugged in to PC while I google around
- phone vibrates and boots but fails to boot completely
- tried to interrupt to recovery which works; perform a full restore
- phone able to reboot completely
Here's the strange part
- plug magnetic charger
- see temperature ramp up quickly from ~33c to 38-39c and fluctuate quickly from 37-39c; same result with other apps
- use original cable+original charger: sticks at 33c
Suffice to say I'm back to USB charging
Same thing happened here i got the same cheap magnetic charger - which doesnt always work at all- and i accidentally snapped it the opposite way 2 times the first the screen flash but nothing else happened..the 2nd it shut down and wouldnt turn back on...i froze too and then i googled about hard reset and it came alive again...after that i went to add my christmas tree an extra light..
I do use a cheap magnetic charger cable for months and have no problems with it!

Fuark.
Alright in my case windows recognizes that a device (I forgot what windows called it) is present when I plugged it in.
This problem would have been avoided if Sony actually sold genuine cables themselves (they don't sell in my country) instead of just the dock (which you couldn't use with a large number of common cases.)

Congrats, you got one where the metal contacts are correctly recessed far enough. On some, despite the different shaped plastic on each pin, the metal sticks out far enough to still make contact

[FIX]G3 won't Power-ON and Bootloops while Charging

THE STORY:
So, today, my friend consulted me about his D850 G3 'cause he powered it off with 50% remaining and it won't power on manually via power button. I ask him if it still charges, the he plugged the charger on it and the G3 showed the "loading battery" screen (the screen that shows before charging animation) and it bootlooped on there, thus not charging.
Scratching my head, I tried pressing the power button while the "loading battery" screen is shown, the LG boot screen showed up, but it bootlooped again back to the "loading battery" screen. I also unplugged the battery, gave it a good rest, then plugged it back, but still, no good.
I tried plugging the phone via PC to see if it detects, and it detects, and it wont... So... Yeah... Still no good
And then I remembered my Samsung Galaxy S2 days, when I do this "soft-reset" thing. So, I did it and suprisingly, it bypassed the "loading battery" screen and now it charges! Tried powering it on, and IT'S ON! Yay! :good:
SUMMARIZING:
1. Phone won't turn on via Power Button, so no go for recovery and download mode.
2. Charging it just bootloops the "loading screen", thus, not charging.
3. Re-plugging the battery won't do.
2. No luck on PC.
SOLUTION (Soft-Reset):
1. Power off the device.
2. Pull out the battery and press the power button for 10 seconds WITHOUT the battery.
(I don't know if this is necessary on our G3, since I don't know if our G3 has a separate power source like the S2, but still did it anyways.)
3. Plug the charger into your G3 WITHOUT the battery. It will show like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Then, WHILE charger is plugged-in WITHOUT the battery, plug the battery back. Now, it SHOULD charge.
5. And after a couple of minutes, you can power on your device. :good:
If you face similar issues like my friend, try this and hope this'll help you as well. Just posting it here for reference and future bookmark. Have a good day guys/gals :good:

Are you using Fulmics rom? As far as I know it had an issue with battery charging when not plugged, you need to update to 5.3 to resolve it.

I had the same issue on my vs985. What does it say in the computer under Start/devices and printers in the computer when you plug it in. If it shows up as unknown device its bricked. You will need to look at this thread it tells you what to do to fix this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359 Now I'm back up and running. Don't get frustrated when using the guide. I used a bread tie and it works perfect. PM me if you need help. This guide should work for your variant.

No, man. I think you've misunderstood my post. I posted a "fix" for the problem of my friend, and the problems already solved. Just shared my experience here. The PC detects the G3, then it won't, then it will, then it won't... You prolly get what's happening if you read the OP. :good:

Your right my bad. Just being eager to help ha ha. Well I've brought my phone back to life around 3 times now so I can be done unless the hardware is damaged.
thanks for this fix!! it works for me
Had similar issue with Galaxy devices while running a aosp rom. But my battery was fully discharged. I would pull out battery. Plug in USB connected to a PC. Then try to enter download mode or recovery. Then replace battery to charge a little before restarting the device to let it charge normally.

Oh my word... I tried rebooting my phone into Recovery Mode and it completely shut down on me. I've spent the last thirty minutes or so trying to get it to boot with no success I saw solutions similar to yours (pull battery out, drain phone, plug battery back in, recharge, etc.), but none that suggested putting the battery back in while the phone was plugged in. Success!
Thanks For sharing your Experience My problem is same to yours, But charging boot looping Download mode boot looping, When i remove the Battery while plugged to charger a Caution on Battery icon But When i plug the battery back Boot looping again Everything But my Battery have Charged up to 60% Something Is not Bootlooping Like Data Reset screen What is the Problem with my battery Please Help
PCB of battery sort story resistance good up as days go by ( sometimes it works sometime constant reboot , sometime not charging . see YouTube lg g3 battery PCB fix , and you can test it get a working one from someone to see if it boots ( and yes I have done mine and still working after 1,5 year after problem)

Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year to all,
I have an LG G3 phone that isn't charging at all - no led indicators or anything. Upon connecting the charger (without battery in phone) ... I see the indicator as pictured above telling me that the battery is absent. As soon as I insert the battery, the screen goes black and nothing else happens. I've also tested the battery using a multi-meter and it's fine. Has anyone else experienced this ... and has a solution been found?

Hello! Thank you for such a speedy response! I really appreciate it.
Upon connecting the phone to my computer, Windows (10) notifies that the connected USB device has malfunctioned and therefore isn't recognized. In Device Manager the notification reads, "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed". Thanks for any further assistance.
P.S - I also have a question regarding an LG G4. I see that you also have knowledge about them but I am not sure of the respective protocols with respect to threads and such. Please advise, thank you.

Once again, thank you for your responses. I was thinking the same regarding 'end of life'. I believe that in order to resurrect it, something inside will have to be changed i.e a hardware issue. My computer and its USBs are functioning well ... so I know it's the phone. My major issue, apart from getting it to work again, is retrieving any information from it that I can.

Galaxy S8 Won't Charge When Powered Off

The problem:
When my S8 is turned off and plugged in (yes, stock charger), the device won't charge. The charging icon show on the screen nor will the LED indicator light up. However, the device will still charge while it's ON (with the same charger).
This matter hasn't really been pressing because I rarely run out of battery. However, the few times I drain the battery completely, it's been extremely hard to turn the device on again. I'll have to trickle charge it and then turn the device on, hope the device doesn't die while turning on, and only then will the S8 start charging normally.
A ton more details:
Sometimes, I'll see a charging warning that there is water in the port. I think that this entire problem has arisen from the device thinking that there is water in the port, but I don't see why it would refuse to charge only when the device is turned off. My device has not been in water for 3-4 months.
This problem has been ongoing for 3-4 months
If turned off, the device will still charge WIRELESSLY
When I plug in the charger while the device is off, there's a small horizontal line on the screen that will light up every few seconds. I'm assuming that this is a boot loop due to charge failure.
I've been "trickle charging" the device by holding the power down and volume down button to start the bootloader. I'm unsure if this is a permanent solution, though, and it is not quite consistent.
Thanks in advance.

bump 2
I have the same problem buddy.
I don't know how to fix that.
did you manage to fix it ?
p.s : I just bought this phone.
Sounds defective, I'd contact Samsung about a warranty repair.
Have the exact same issue. It will wireless charge when off, though.
Won't fast charge when on.
All the problems started when all of a sudden I got the old "moisture" in USB warning.
Got rid of that and downhill from there.
This started around 21 January, but the not charging when off, and slow charging seemed to have come on at a later stage.
Not impressed as I tend to baby my phones.
I have the same issue.
If i quickly press the power button while it's turned off and immediatly plug the charger, the phone shows the moisture warning and starts to vibrate.
The phone has never been exposed to moisture. I already tried to clean the usb and jack ports, and i also cleaned the usb app without success.
Any idea before a factory reset or rma?
I had exactly the same problem as Spike96.It seems it's a software problem from Samsung.I tried everything on the net to fix it,including talking to Samsung,nothing worked.I then systematically went through the entire usb programs and settings-FINALLY I found the problem,the USB audio routing when turned on,,causes the USB failure,go to developer options,disable USB audio routing,and your phone will charge as it should when powered off
12 hours later problem returned
U have to turn off " Varify apps via USB" in developers option, as well.
I had the same problem and just fixed it by clicking every option and found the luck.
Came here because I also have this problem now. Which unfortunately happened to start the DAY AFTER I pre-ordered the S10+ with my S8 included as part exchange.
If the phone is off, it says theres moisture in the port and wont charge. If I hold volume down and power, it resets and turns on like normal and charges like normal. Phone has been exposed to water in the past but not in the last few days. Strange that it says there's moisture when the phone is off.
Same issue over here. No quick charge and it won't charge when my phone is off. It also won't turn on with the charging cable is connected, I have to disconnect it before I'm able to turn on my phone.
Tried fully cleaning all my phone ports with a wooden toothpick and some alcohol, but without luck. (Had a charging issue before, with another phone, and this is what fixed it)
After reading this tread I changed the developer options, but I still have the problem.
I also recorded a bug report, but I got a really big file out of it and I can't find anything regarding the phone charging.
Are there any other suggestions for things I can try without having to factory reset my phone?
Any suggestion is welcome.
I've noticed that sometimes after i unplug the phone from the charger (obv i can charge only if it's on) the warning appears.
Do you think that a custom rom would solve the problem?

No. I have lineageos 16, but the problem is present.
Superweird problem. I always had this problem, when the phone was fully off it would not charge unless I powered it on first.
Disabling "USB audio routing" PLUS disabling "Verify apps via USB" in developer options like suggested fixed this for me!
I've got the same issue, and I have been dealing with this for over 2 years now. I initially thought my phone was gone for good because it wouldn't turn on at all, flash me a working screen, or vibrate like it usually does. So, I just kept it hidden in my cabinet for almost a year.
When I remembered I had this S8+ device, I decided to take one more look at it and it finally turned on!.. Well, the charging icon before actually being turned on did, at least. However, like @Spike96, @MrRanza, @AC5L4T3R, and @IkBenNietHier mentioned, the off charging screen showed a water-in-port warning below the charging icon and would vibrate non-stop — and not charge too, of course. Here's a picture of what the screen looks like on the device:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_download": "Download",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I later then found that either hard resetting the device or using a wireless charger would pretty much fix the issue, but again, like @Spike96 presumed, it isn't a permanent solution and isn't very consistent, because I've noticed that the longer I leave my S8+ uncharged and dead, the harder it is to get it starting again. I'm quite relieved, though, that a lot of other people are experiencing this predicament, as well, because I know I'm not alone with having this annoying issue anymore.
A couple of people in this thread suggested going to Developer Options > Debugging: disable Verify apps via USB + Media: Prevent USB audio routing, but my Verify apps via USB was always disabled (by default, unless I turn Debugging: USB debugging on), and doing the given steps did nothing for me. I appreciate the help a lot, though, but I'm still stuck with the same problem...
Actually, it's worse now — for some reason, after turning my phone off to see if it'll charge, it now won't react to any of the button combinations except for Odin mode (volume down + power key + Bixby key). I'll just try again some other time — this happens a lot, anyway...
I faced exactly similar issue with s9+ around a year back .... I tried cleaning the port etc and flashing custom rom ... Nothinh fixed the issue .... Wireless charging worked fine .... Finally i got the usb port changed and it fixed this issue ...
