[FIX]G3 won't Power-ON and Bootloops while Charging - G3 General

THE STORY:
So, today, my friend consulted me about his D850 G3 'cause he powered it off with 50% remaining and it won't power on manually via power button. I ask him if it still charges, the he plugged the charger on it and the G3 showed the "loading battery" screen (the screen that shows before charging animation) and it bootlooped on there, thus not charging.
Scratching my head, I tried pressing the power button while the "loading battery" screen is shown, the LG boot screen showed up, but it bootlooped again back to the "loading battery" screen. I also unplugged the battery, gave it a good rest, then plugged it back, but still, no good.
I tried plugging the phone via PC to see if it detects, and it detects, and it wont... So... Yeah... Still no good
And then I remembered my Samsung Galaxy S2 days, when I do this "soft-reset" thing. So, I did it and suprisingly, it bypassed the "loading battery" screen and now it charges! Tried powering it on, and IT'S ON! Yay! :good:
SUMMARIZING:
1. Phone won't turn on via Power Button, so no go for recovery and download mode.
2. Charging it just bootloops the "loading screen", thus, not charging.
3. Re-plugging the battery won't do.
2. No luck on PC.
SOLUTION (Soft-Reset):
1. Power off the device.
2. Pull out the battery and press the power button for 10 seconds WITHOUT the battery.
(I don't know if this is necessary on our G3, since I don't know if our G3 has a separate power source like the S2, but still did it anyways.)
3. Plug the charger into your G3 WITHOUT the battery. It will show like this:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Then, WHILE charger is plugged-in WITHOUT the battery, plug the battery back. Now, it SHOULD charge.
5. And after a couple of minutes, you can power on your device. :good:
If you face similar issues like my friend, try this and hope this'll help you as well. Just posting it here for reference and future bookmark. Have a good day guys/gals :good:
:good:

Are you using Fulmics rom? As far as I know it had an issue with battery charging when not plugged, you need to update to 5.3 to resolve it.

I had the same issue on my vs985. What does it say in the computer under Start/devices and printers in the computer when you plug it in. If it shows up as unknown device its bricked. You will need to look at this thread it tells you what to do to fix this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359 Now I'm back up and running. Don't get frustrated when using the guide. I used a bread tie and it works perfect. PM me if you need help. This guide should work for your variant.

No, man. I think you've misunderstood my post. I posted a "fix" for the problem of my friend, and the problems already solved. Just shared my experience here. The PC detects the G3, then it won't, then it will, then it won't... You prolly get what's happening if you read the OP. :good:

Your right my bad. Just being eager to help ha ha. Well I've brought my phone back to life around 3 times now so I can be done unless the hardware is damaged.

thanks for this fix!! it works for me

Had similar issue with Galaxy devices while running a aosp rom. But my battery was fully discharged. I would pull out battery. Plug in USB connected to a PC. Then try to enter download mode or recovery. Then replace battery to charge a little before restarting the device to let it charge normally.

Oh my word... I tried rebooting my phone into Recovery Mode and it completely shut down on me. I've spent the last thirty minutes or so trying to get it to boot with no success I saw solutions similar to yours (pull battery out, drain phone, plug battery back in, recharge, etc.), but none that suggested putting the battery back in while the phone was plugged in. Success!

Thanks For sharing your Experience My problem is same to yours, But charging boot looping Download mode boot looping, When i remove the Battery while plugged to charger a Caution on Battery icon But When i plug the battery back Boot looping again Everything But my Battery have Charged up to 60% Something Is not Bootlooping Like Data Reset screen What is the Problem with my battery Please Help

PCB of battery sort story resistance good up as days go by ( sometimes it works sometime constant reboot , sometime not charging . see YouTube lg g3 battery PCB fix , and you can test it get a working one from someone to see if it boots ( and yes I have done mine and still working after 1,5 year after problem)

Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year to all,
I have an LG G3 phone that isn't charging at all - no led indicators or anything. Upon connecting the charger (without battery in phone) ... I see the indicator as pictured above telling me that the battery is absent. As soon as I insert the battery, the screen goes black and nothing else happens. I've also tested the battery using a multi-meter and it's fine. Has anyone else experienced this ... and has a solution been found?

Hello! Thank you for such a speedy response! I really appreciate it.
Upon connecting the phone to my computer, Windows (10) notifies that the connected USB device has malfunctioned and therefore isn't recognized. In Device Manager the notification reads, "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed". Thanks for any further assistance.
P.S - I also have a question regarding an LG G4. I see that you also have knowledge about them but I am not sure of the respective protocols with respect to threads and such. Please advise, thank you.

Once again, thank you for your responses. I was thinking the same regarding 'end of life'. I believe that in order to resurrect it, something inside will have to be changed i.e a hardware issue. My computer and its USBs are functioning well ... so I know it's the phone. My major issue, apart from getting it to work again, is retrieving any information from it that I can.

RED LED of Death - Guide to get phone back up and running

Hey all,
Surely at some point we have all gone to pick up our x10's and seen nothing on the screen and a blinking red led when you try to turn it on.
Immediatly thoughts of Phone Death and End of the World will undoubtably echo through our minds. Fear not!
Well, this happened to me on the weekend again (a few times now) so i thought i'd try a few different ways of getting it back up again and i think i nailed it first go
1. Yank battery out
2. connect charger and wait for green charging led
3. insert battery and wait for charging icon to appear in screen* (SE logo first, then Charging screen)
4. power phone on with cable still connected. Phone will boot as normal and continue charging.
5. celebrate avoidance of mobile technology isolation with a few cold ones
Hope that helps someone!
* For what its worth, i am running Zdzihu's 2.2 Beta4, but i think this should work on most. Only thing that might be different would be the charging icon does not appear on some ROMS. That i cannot answer but is probably worth a shot anyway
Tim.
Hasn't happened to me yet. Do you let your battery get fully drained?

did happen that way once, was not anywhere near anything remotely power generating (camping) but this last time was still on 70% charge and on charge via USB at the time. weird!
Ok that sounds alarming. I'll keep an eye out for this on my x10

Hi,
I am facing the same issue as mentioned above but unable to resolve it.
I tried the steps mentioned:
1. Yanked battery out
2. connected charger and waited for green charging led
But for me the green charging led does not come up!!
What could be the issue?
I don't quite understand. Are you saying that X10's are just suddenly and mysteriously dying? I've never heard of this or had it happen to me on stock firmware. The way you described it sounds like you always leave your screen on. Maybe that's the problem, or it's because 2.2 custom ROMs are completely stable yet? :Confused?
sumtimes strange things happens
i charged the battery completly 100% den wipeout the battery
rubb it in my palmm ...insert it back
turn on the phone it says 3 % charged RED led starts blinking
ahahahahahahaha..
wipe out battery rub again placing it back it says 100%

Or it could be that your USB port is broken.
same issue...
i don't think usb is broken...coz the phone went dead when i was playing a game...there was no issue with the usb port then...
when i charge the RED light blinks...
if i remove the battery and place it back and swith it on RED light blinks again but for 3 times....and no display....
i've been searchin solution for this issue on sonyericsson support forums and xda support forums but no solution that i came across works...
does this mean that xperia x10 dies just by playing games? phone freezes and dies....weird!!
this was some time ago for me, and has not happened since, but i was thinking about it recently and i was actually thinking it was heat related. i was charging (at the time it died last time) via usb-pc connection, and that always gets really hot. maybe its a thermal heat saving thing?

You should avoid charging via usb on PC...it never charges battery properly and is recommended when you only want to charge your phone to do it via charger, not PC usb.

Where is the data on this?
I just discovered as of yesterday, that my Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad T400 only has one good USB port as far as my X10a is concerned. The other 2 ports appear to connect, but the charge still falls down.
My best port is on the left side, further back of the two.
I am using rendeiro2005's [MOD/ROM)scamble_v01[CM6.1.3][30MAR]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015765
I am attempting a portion of the cycle of power as noted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010070
# Unplug Charger and do not plug back in until your phone dies
# Reboot into recovery once it is dead by connecting charger
# Wipe battery stats
# Charge to 100% and repeat the discharging, wiping, and charging process about 3-5 times
In attempt to make sure my battery was drained, I kept turning my phone on.
This led to my flashing red LED of death.
I attempted this workaround, but it didn't work exactly, but close enough.
I had to pop the battery out and in and disconnect usb a few times and back in until it started charging.....

yep, i generally do, but i was away on a trip and only had access to a pc/usb for charging (forgot my AC charger!)
Red flash of death:
For me it was because the connector on my phone(!), was broken.
So I send it back for repair.
A friend of mine had exact the same.
Vodafone is currently repairing mine, and made a photo of what was broken. ;p

when i got my x10 which was sent to me thru dhl, i saw it was working before it was placed inside the box then when i get it just this morning i tried to power it on but it didn't so i charged it but nothing happened. Even the led indicator is not blinking so i tried to buy a new one. there, the indicator blinks when i power it up but still didn't work. i tried to charge my original battery thru usb for more thn 2 hours and charge it thru clipped charger for almost half day now but nothing happened. issue is still persisting. can somebody help me with these?
haha.. this had happen to me be4 when i flash to custom ROM. and tht time my phone battery was 34%. After flash. it show only 10% ._. how funny it is..

what else can i do to turn my x10 on? i'm really losing hope for this phone. really disappointed. and i don't wanna say these but i'm starting to hate sony ericsson for not responding to these issue. i've read from different forums from different sites that a lot of same issue is happening to same brand and model yet all of these haven't responded even a single solution and that's really frustrating.
i have the same issue phone turns on on some point but battery keeps on 0% even if i charge it for more than 2 hours it doesnot goes past 0%..............I tried the genuine charger and everything

i am in the same boat. had more than 70% when mine died... now all it does is the flashing light thing...
i kno the usb port works b/c ONE time out of probably about a 100 that i've tried, it actually worked and brought me to the charging battery screen then immediately died again...
i can't seem to get the phone to go to xRecovery OR boot into flash mode...
this is all very upsetting... what to do?
Is this topic still alive.i v the same issue like other frends told.my x10 is dead.when i press power button it vibrates for less than a sec and then ..... no life.

From Dalvik to ART ------> Red Light

Title says it all. What's going on:
1) Red light is blinking
2) Fastboot works
3) If I boot to recovery, it shuts down.
4) I used the Nexus toolkit to install a Google Factory image, but it still wouldn't boot.
5) I tried the Vol. UP + Power button in order to simulate a battery pull, but it didn't work as well.
6) NO, I don't have a T5 screwdriver so if this is your answer, it doesn't help me at all.
It's on the wall charger atm and the red light is blinking. When I had connected it through USB, it showed the battery but it wouldn't boot no matter what I tried. Now, on the wall charger, it didn't show any battery level(like it did with the USB) but I left it there charging.
Any idea?
Bump, come on guys.
My phone died out when I was installing a kernel. It booted up and was switching to ART when the battery died and when I plugged it in the charger, got the red blinking light.
I used this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/tutorial-how-to-unbrick-n4-t2347060
A few things to note are that I could not get my phone in fastboot or get the battery icon when plugged in the usb. I had to leave it plugged in the wall charger overnight ( with the red light blinking ) and in the morning perform the Vol down + power button thing many times before I finally got a battery icon and then I could boot into download mode. If I booted into fastboot, it would just shut down after a few seconds
Thanks for the reply! I will download the files, might take some time because they are huge, and I will report back. Thanks again.

It displays the battery level indicator, but I cannot boot into download mode. It displays the Google logo and turns off. The same thing happens on the wall charger. Strage, because some hours ago I booted into download mode. :x

What procedure did you follow in order for it to boot into download mode? It shows the battery indicator, but it keeps failing to boot into download mode.

I managed to get it into download mode, but when writing the radio and the other data, it turned off 2 times, so I had to boot it into download mode. But it flashed the stock image correctly. Thing is... I still have the red light.

If it flashed fine then I think it went ok and all you need to do is charge up the phone. It can take a LOONG time. Getting the battery icon is the hard part. I couldn't get that. You say you get it when you plug it in your laptop right? well plug it in and let it charge to full ( you can follow the animation ) and then try turning it on.
Hope it works

If it flashed fine then I think it went ok and all you need to do is charge up the phone. It can take a LOONG time. Getting the battery icon is the hard part. I couldn't get that. You say you get it when you plug it in your laptop right? well plug it in and let it charge to full ( you can follow the animation ) and then try turning it on.
Hope it works

Yeah, it stopped @ 67% poped up a message which I ignored per OP's instructions. But, as I said, I still have the red light. :x Both after using the LG program and after flashing stock google image prvided by OP.
What exactly did you do? Thanks again!

Well I could barely get it into download mode. It would stick for a couple seconds and go back to the blinking red light. I let it charge for another couple hours ( this was AFTER a whole day of being plugged in the wall charger with the blinking light ). I finally got it into download mode after continuously plugging it in and holding the respective buttons. Anyways, I flashed the factory image and got the light again. So I plugged it into my laptop and tried again with the volume + - and power buttons ( that's basically all of them ) and repeated it till I got the battery icon. Then I let it stay and charge to full and then booted it up. It finally did

Thanks. I get the battery icon by:
1) Going into fastboot
2) Selecting "Power off" option
3) Unplugging the USB cable
4) Pluggin the USB cable.
It's not animating. It just shows the full battery icon with a thunder in the middle. Was it the same for you?(or it was animating?)
Here, it shows me this thing(without animation):

No mine was showing the animation. Like it went two or three steps from empty to full. You have flashed the factory image and can get into fastboot too. But when you boot up, you get the red light correct?
Plug your phone in the wall charger and try the battery pull technique every hour. Do it twice everytime just to br sure. I don't even f remember how many times I did it. Leave it overnight to charge too

When I try to boot(without it being connected to USB or charger) it doesn't boot at all. When I connect it, I get the red light and if I press the power button for 10 seconds, it will TRY to boot, showing me the Google logo, but then shuts down and shows the red light blinking.
What's the battery pull technique? Asking just to be sure.

Managed to fix my problem via pulling out the battery.
Sent from my Nexus 4

[Q] N4 doesnt turn on. Red Light blinks once.

Hello.
When I try to turn on my N4, I hold power button, and after about 10 seconds Red light blinks (just once, if it's connected to USB that 1 blink last for 3 seconds, if connected to wall, it's just quick 1 blink. If it not connected anywhere there is no action at all, it just stays dead, no blinks, nothing). Same if I try to go in bootloader by holding volume down+power.
This happened after I successfully installed CM12, with no errors. Then I rebooted my phone, and it just stayed black as it is now. Battery was around 25~30% that time, and phone was connected to USB.
Did I bricked my phone totally? I am now trying to charge it up already for 1 hour... but it nothing changes.
I have searched here for similar problems, but couldn't find solution...
Edit: Charging already for 10h+ , still same..
Edit2: I removed battery, reconnected after a while, still same problem.
So I tested it with multimeter, it says 2.6V, but fully charged must be 3.8V. Could this be a problem? I was charging it for whole night.
Edit3: I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...
When I connect to PC usb, there are unrecognized deviced called "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
easy fix
Hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until phone reboots. If you see the little android no need to worry just let go and wait for your device to reboot on its own. This is not a factory reset it's just like restarting your device. :good:

I had the same problem a year ago, I tried to remove the battery, charging all night, and other solutions that I found online and no one worked.
Finally I found here in XDA a user with the same problem and his solution was charger the phone with a wireless charger, a friend of mine has one and I put the phone to charge and after a few minutes the screen goes on and the phone was charged, then I press power button and the nexus run again.
Hope this works.
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain.
Good luck.
(I bought a wireless charger in case it happen again)
I don't know anyone with wireless charger. I already ordered a new battery, and then I probably will get wireless charger also. Ty.
But this problem is very weird if you think so.. I think it happened because of many aspects together:
1) Battery was already below 30%
2) I pretty regularly charge phone with USB (won't do it again)
3) It was connected to PC USB in same time.
4) I installed CM12 ROM in same time
So main reason I think is USB, that I restarted phone while it was on pretty low battery and with USB connected.. phone restarted and got invalid voltages and couldn't even boot up or charge phone. I also found an article which says, minimum voltage, when phone battery has 0%, it's 3.0V, so I was below that.. it just screwed everything and battery died. Well, I am not sure for 100% that it's battery fault, but I hope so, I really love my N4 and still wanna use it for long time, I hope it's not dead phone, just a dead battery. Lets see! I will update this thread , when I get my new battery (less than month probably).
Sorry, my english is also not perfect. I am from Latvia.
I was playing when it happened to me. The phone was very very hot and the battery was around 70%. When I put in the wireless charged and I can reboot the phone the battery was at 65%, so it had charge but the phone won't boot.
I charge my phone almost every day, sometimes with AC, others with USB (plugging to PC) or wireless that depends of my needs
I hope you can fix it. Good luck.
Btw. Do you know if battery charges with wireless charger, if it's removed from the phone?
Don't think it does, since the receiving coils for wireless charging are located just behind the glass back.

Major Issue Google
This "Nexus SOD" issue is showing up on many sites across the Internet. I have multiple "Nexus" devices including 2 Nexus 4, 1 Nexus 5, 2 "Nexus 7 2013". It suddenly started out of the blue with one of my Nexus 4 phones. Symptoms included rapid battery discharge. I am using Lollipop 5.1 on all devices. There are many claims as to the cause, Hardware Motherboard, Power Button etc. Others claim it is "Software Related" or App Related. The problem effects Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 phones. I have ordered a new motherboard for my nexus 4 device and see if that makes a difference.
This problem should warrant a "Major Android Lollipop Crisis Team" by Google to investigate the cause and let us know what it is and what Google is doing to solve the problem before moving to announce "Android M". This issue needs to brought up and actively pursued at the upcoming "Google I/O Conference" by the strong Android Developers Groups to press for "Formal Action"

I had this problem a long time ago and my fix worked for me after doing a little research it seems like this is a case called battery total discharge. The fix was simply to charge your phone using the wall adapter that came with your phone (I still use my old apple cube wall thing) and to wait for the red light to appear then wait about ten minutes before trying to reboot.
I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...

I have checked all kind of videos there. Also that one. Most of these cases are related to battery, but it seems in my case it isn't. I just searched for QHSUSB_DLOAD unrecognized device, all posts says it means phone is bricked... But cmon, how? Just tried booting without battery, and connecting to wall. Same - red light blinks once, after I hold Power button or Power+Volume down for about 15 seconds. If I keep buttons pressed, it just repeats every ~15 seconds.
Power buttons works fine.
After I checked that Device manager thing in google.. it looks very bad.. phone is dead.. probably need to change motherboard. I am just shocked, how this could happen... I didn't receive any errors during CM12 installation. Phone just instantly died after restart.

Galaxy S8 Won't Charge When Powered Off

The problem:
When my S8 is turned off and plugged in (yes, stock charger), the device won't charge. The charging icon show on the screen nor will the LED indicator light up. However, the device will still charge while it's ON (with the same charger).
This matter hasn't really been pressing because I rarely run out of battery. However, the few times I drain the battery completely, it's been extremely hard to turn the device on again. I'll have to trickle charge it and then turn the device on, hope the device doesn't die while turning on, and only then will the S8 start charging normally.
A ton more details:
Sometimes, I'll see a charging warning that there is water in the port. I think that this entire problem has arisen from the device thinking that there is water in the port, but I don't see why it would refuse to charge only when the device is turned off. My device has not been in water for 3-4 months.
This problem has been ongoing for 3-4 months
If turned off, the device will still charge WIRELESSLY
When I plug in the charger while the device is off, there's a small horizontal line on the screen that will light up every few seconds. I'm assuming that this is a boot loop due to charge failure.
I've been "trickle charging" the device by holding the power down and volume down button to start the bootloader. I'm unsure if this is a permanent solution, though, and it is not quite consistent.
Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem buddy.
I don't know how to fix that.
did you manage to fix it ?
p.s : I just bought this phone.
Sounds defective, I'd contact Samsung about a warranty repair.
Have the exact same issue. It will wireless charge when off, though.
Won't fast charge when on.
All the problems started when all of a sudden I got the old "moisture" in USB warning.
Got rid of that and downhill from there.
This started around 21 January, but the not charging when off, and slow charging seemed to have come on at a later stage.
Not impressed as I tend to baby my phones.
I have the same issue.
If i quickly press the power button while it's turned off and immediatly plug the charger, the phone shows the moisture warning and starts to vibrate.
The phone has never been exposed to moisture. I already tried to clean the usb and jack ports, and i also cleaned the usb app without success.
Any idea before a factory reset or rma?
I had exactly the same problem as Spike96.It seems it's a software problem from Samsung.I tried everything on the net to fix it,including talking to Samsung, nothing worked.I then systematically went through the entire usb programs and settings-FINALLY I found the problem, the USB audio routing when turned on,,causes the USB failure,go to developer options, disable USB audio routing, and your phone will charge as it should when powered off
12 hours later problem returned
U have to turn off " Varify apps via USB" in developers option, as well.
I had the same problem and just fixed it by clicking every option and found the luck.
Came here because I also have this problem now. Which unfortunately happened to start the DAY AFTER I pre-ordered the S10+ with my S8 included as part exchange.
If the phone is off, it says theres moisture in the port and wont charge. If I hold volume down and power, it resets and turns on like normal and charges like normal. Phone has been exposed to water in the past but not in the last few days. Strange that it says there's moisture when the phone is off.
Same issue over here. No quick charge and it won't charge when my phone is off. It also won't turn on with the charging cable is connected, I have to disconnect it before I'm able to turn on my phone.
Tried fully cleaning all my phone ports with a wooden toothpick and some alcohol, but without luck. (Had a charging issue before, with another phone, and this is what fixed it)
After reading this tread I changed the developer options, but I still have the problem.
I also recorded a bug report, but I got a really big file out of it and I can't find anything regarding the phone charging.
Are there any other suggestions for things I can try without having to factory reset my phone?
Any suggestion is welcome.
I've noticed that sometimes after i unplug the phone from the charger (obv i can charge only if it's on) the warning appears.
Do you think that a custom rom would solve the problem?

No. I have lineageos 16, but the problem is present.
Superweird problem. I always had this problem, when the phone was fully off it would not charge unless I powered it on first.
Disabling "USB audio routing" PLUS disabling "Verify apps via USB" in developer options like suggested fixed this for me!
I've got the same issue, and I have been dealing with this for over 2 years now. I initially thought my phone was gone for good because it wouldn't turn on at all, flash me a working screen, or vibrate like it usually does. So, I just kept it hidden in my cabinet for almost a year.
When I remembered I had this S8+ device, I decided to take one more look at it and it finally turned on!.. Well, the charging icon before actually being turned on did, at least. However, like @Spike96, @MrRanza, @AC5L4T3R, and @IkBenNietHier mentioned, the off charging screen showed a water-in-port warning below the charging icon and would vibrate non-stop — and not charge too, of course. Here's a picture of what the screen looks like on the device:
{

}
I later then found that either hard resetting the device or using a wireless charger would pretty much fix the issue, but again, like @Spike96 presumed, it isn't a permanent solution and isn't very consistent, because I've noticed that the longer I leave my S8+ uncharged and dead, the harder it is to get it starting again. I'm quite relieved, though, that a lot of other people are experiencing this predicament, as well, because I know I'm not alone with having this annoying issue anymore.
A couple of people in this thread suggested going to Developer Options > Debugging: disable Verify apps via USB + Media: Prevent USB audio routing, but my Verify apps via USB was always disabled (by default, unless I turn Debugging: USB debugging on), and doing the given steps did nothing for me. I appreciate the help a lot, though, but I'm still stuck with the same problem...
Actually, it's worse now — for some reason, after turning my phone off to see if it'll charge, it now won't react to any of the button combinations except for Odin mode (volume down + power key + Bixby key). I'll just try again some other time — this happens a lot, anyway...
I faced exactly similar issue with s9+ around a year back .... I tried cleaning the port etc and flashing custom rom ... Nothinh fixed the issue .... Wireless charging worked fine .... Finally i got the usb port changed and it fixed this issue ...

Phone not charging, stuck at 1% after factory reset

Hi everyone,
My Axon 7 is not charging at all after I did a factory reset. The phone is almost 2 years old and battery was degrading a lot so I went and decided to do a factory reset. It was at 50% and charging fine before I hit reset, but once I reset and came to the setup screen, I noticed the battery showed 1% which was weird. I then unplugged the charger and it immediately died. Turning it on without charger will automatically turn off.
The phone does show the red led light and charging icon but no matter what it will stay at 1%.
Here's what I've tried so far:
-Change cable/charger
-Left overnight charging with phone on
-Left overnight charging with phone off
-Reset phone/wipe cache many times
I have always been on stock A2017U and wondering if flashing another ROM may help?
If anyone have tips on how I can revive my Axon 7 that would be appreciated. I really don't want to retire it yet.
Two years? Consider replacing the battery? The degradation on this thing is horrendous.

Whatever you do, I'd say go for it, buy a new battery. It won't be for nothing.
But on the matter at hand: This comes down to charging mechanics. Your battery will charge with a set voltage (usually 4.4V) after the fastest stretch which is constant-current fast charge. If your phone stays on, you should check a couple of things to be sure that the phone is trying to charge at least.
First of all download Ampere, it'll show you the charge rate and battery voltage. You should leave it charging for a minute with the app open, and check how much current goes through. The battery voltage should be reported below as well. Then disconnect the charger, and see if you can see what the voltage says. If it is below 3.3 V then BCL (Software that controls some battery-related functions, one of which is this brown-out protection that turns the phone off after a certain voltage) will shut down the phone. Degraded batteries have certain physical properties that make them heat more and have serious voltage dips when a sizable current is demanded, something which Predatorhaze here doesn't seem to understand.
Now, you could try to disable BCL completely by simply adding root to the mix and running some commands that Infy_AsiX posted in the BCL degradation thread, this is obviously temporary if your battery is past the point of charging but it's possible. no need to switch ROMs although that might not be as bad.
This happens to me too, sometimes. Shockingly enough, once I charge it via USB cable from my laptop (I have an ASUS ROG G750JS, if that matters) , the charging picks up. Moment it crosses 36%, I can now charge it via the wall charger again; I'm careful now not to let my phone die down anymore.
I should change the battery, but I'm planning on selling this thing by February anyway and want to give the buyer a new battery altogether, by then.

Here's readout from Ampere at 4.4v but the mA is very low. I couldn't get a proper readout after unplugging the phone as it dies immediately before it could measure.
Thanks for the post, will try to root and perform the BCL methods, if doesn't work ill try to flash LOS.
Just wanted to exhaust my options before replacing battery, seems tough to do and could be the motherboard or something else at fault.

I should change the battery, but I'm planning on selling this thing by February anyway and want to give the buyer a new battery altogether, by then.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me either, I left it for a whole day while at work charging through pc, same symptoms

Here's readout from Ampere at 4.4v but the mA is very low. I couldn't get a proper readout after unplugging the phone as it dies immediately before it could measure.
Thanks for the post, will try to root and perform the BCL methods, if doesn't work ill try to flash LOS.
Just wanted to exhaust my options before replacing battery, seems tough to do and could be the motherboard or something else at fault.

well, if anything, the battery swap is extremely easy on this phone
You don't even need to use heat on the grilles, just use something very sharp like a craft knife on the right corners of the grilles, pry upwards, then very carefully use a flat screwdriver or something like that. if you have the gold one, the grilles are very flexible, unlikely that you'll do any damage. If you have the gray model you'll need to be extremely careful with the top grille where you have the hole because it'll probably snap there.
Then take the screws off (6), open just slightly, take the fp cable sensor off carefully, take one more screw off, pry the battery, insert new one
You can watch JerryRigEverything's disassembly video to know every step of the process, it's useful for that
Finally I've managed to get the phone charging.
Flashed LOS but didn't remediate the issue, although TWRP does show 73%, phone dies after booting up.
So I attempted to go back to stock again. Voila this time turning on the phone, battery started to go up, unplugging holds.
However, issue remain is that charging now is significantly slower even though it is showing fast charging, and once it hits 75% it takes roughly an hour and a half to 2 hours to get to 100%.
I guess I will see how it goes for the next week or so and if battery performs poorly I will go ahead and buy a replacement battery.
