How to make Xbox One controller work? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

First of all, sorry if I put this in the wrong category.
Can I play with a Xbox One Controller (with cable) on s7 edge without root?
I succeeded to connect it to the phone, but it does not work properly. The right analog stick (I don't exactly know the name) behaves like blocked upwards. Also, RT and LT do what should the stick do when you turn it left/right. I don't know how to fix it.

[Q] manually edit wired controller profile?

Hey so i know there is a way to manually connect a xbox360 wireless controller by editing a file, but is there a way to manually add more buttons and triggers to the wired Xbox controller profile? It connects the controller when plugged in and it works, but the dpad and left joystick are mapped to the same thing and the right joystick plus the triggers don't work at all. Is there a way to manually don't his or do I have to buy an expensive app or something. I'm trying to use emulators with this by the way not dead trigger/GTA/other games.
OK so i have come to the realization that it is nor possible without the app. Bummer. But I'm trying to do it with Ubuntu and Xbox DRV and i have run into a few problems there. Xboxdrv exists but i cant seem to install joydev. Is there a package for the n7? An so i cant seem to unload xpad. It just tells me it does not exist and then tells me it is use and can not be unloaded? In a little confused by that.

[Q] Can't get wireless Xbox 360 controller to be recognized?

Hi, I've got a bit of an issue.
I'm trying to use a wireless Xbox 360 controller to play gamesd on my Lg G2.
The device is rooted, running stock Android 4.2.2, and is the At&T model.
This is my setup: Xbox 360 wireless reciever (aftermarket, but it confirmed works on my pc),
connected to a USB-OTG cable (confirmed working, with a usb drive, keyboard, and mouse),
connected to the micro USB port on my device (again, confirmed working).
The LED's on the reciever light up, and I can "pair" my controller with it, but after "paring", all four lights on the controller are still blinking, and my phone does not recognize it as a controller.
I've searched around, and could not find much help on this topic for this device.
If anyone knows what's going wrong here, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I'm not sure if that would work, I would imagine the phone would need the drivers for that dongle.
You can pair a Wiimote or a PS3/4 control to it though. But you can always get a wired control for the 360, I would presume that should work.
I got it to work, using the methods described here.
But, now there's just a small issue. In any game i play with the controller, it's rather hard to control, as there is virtually no thumbstick "dead zone". What I mean, is, if the thumbstick is moved even millimeters from its default point, the character on screen starts to move. And 360 controller thumbsticks have a bit of wiggle-room for moving the sticks before it's actually supposed to do anything, so this is rather annoying.
Does anyone know how i can adjust the dead-zone of my controller?
(I've tried this in multiple games; Modern Combat 5, Dead Trigger, and the like.)

Bypass welcome / setup screen

Is there is any way to bypass first setup screen, first boot of device out of the box or first after recovery without Internet connection?
Will update this thread with quite similar question.
My console yet on it's way to me, but i'm already found whom to sell the gamepad. Thus the question - is it an obligatory condition to pair the gamepad during the first turn on the console, welcome screen with pairing remote/gamepad? Can it be skipped or cancelled if regular mouse/keyboard is connected? In fact i don't really need this gamepad at all since have ir-learning air mouse and mostly will use it as a netflix player, not the game console.

Controllers not being recognized?

I was wondering if anyone has tried hooking up a ps4 controller or any other third party? I hooked an otg cable from my ps4 to the phone and the ps4 light stays blue when it should be orange? I tried connecting via Bluetooth and it sees the device and pairs wirelessly naming it wireless controller in the device list but the buttons don't register in emulators or supported android apps that used to work with my note 5? I used to use my controller all the time but now with my new s7 edge I can't get a controller to work? Can anyone else try for me and see if you have different luck? I tried the otg to an x1 controller and it rebooted my phone....
I got the same results with the Xbox One controller. Wireless adapter still doesn't work (expected), but when plugging the controller in via USB my phone would boot-loop until I unplugged the controller. And even then it still rebooted two more times before working again. I haven't been home to try my Wii or Xbox 360 controllers yet. I thought I would just grab the XBone controller and use it with the Gear VR today on my lunch break. What a disappointment.
I tried hooking ps4 controller and had same issue. I found it might be related to faulty not tested drivers in marshmallow system. Yeah I'm disappointed too.
Moga works.
My Xbox 360 wired controller works, PS3 doesn't (wired or bluetooth).
Same problem here. PS3 controller wired with OTG, just has the 4 charge leds blinking, nothing happens.
XBOX 360 controller, home button keeps blinking and also nothing happening other then that.
Same here ps4 controller not working, causing phone to crash and boot loop when connected. I have a wired Logitech pc x input controller that I tried and it seems to work just fine. But this totally sux as I love my ds4 and was hoping to use it with the gear vr. The Logitech is no where as near as comfortable as the ds4. At least I have something that works for now. Hopefully there will be a fix.
i have tried xbox 360 wired, xbox 360 wireless receiver and a xbox one controller, none work in the s7 but the xbox 360 ones work in my other phones...
Has anybody found a way to use an Xbox one controller with their s7 devices?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Xbox one controller not working at all
I was using my xbone controller with my s7 edge and it rebooted my phone after that it doesn't read my phone anymore and it won't work with me Xbox one, wireless or wired. When I push the guide button it won't turn on and when I plug it into the Xbox it just blinks twice and dies. Don't use your Xbox one controller on your s7!! If anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know lol

You mean to sync it to the Xbox? It does but it only blinks twice and then dies. I left it charging over night and that's all it would do. I left it charging again and I'm about to try it with my Xbox but yeah so far no luck lol
you guys know you need a custom kernel with xpadder support enabled and the xbox fixes for the linux kernel version. So if you want it build the support in the kernel and it will work.

no, the DS button I'm speaking of, is one that let u make a "factory reset" of the controller, making it like new (speaking of paired devices) so u can pair again as it was new, that ususally solves when the PS doesnt recognize it properly, but I'd never had an xbox so I don't know if that exists on their controllers
Hope they get a fix for this. Got an xbox one controller to play both on PC and my s7 edge. But.. fook this
has anyone found a solution to this yet? im now running on nougat . just getting boot loop error. it finds the controller for less then a second. soon as the xbox one controllers rumble pack generates the "connected" rumble. it shuts the phone off
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM- 900V Rooted Android 7.1 CyanogenMod 14.1 kltevzw Build NDE63P crashes and goes into boot loop when I plug in OTG cable with Xbox 360 controller attached. The second I unplug it, everything is ok. Different ROM maybe? Trying to play games using Google VR so I need to run a controller or it sucks. I have stock 360 controller and a Powera 360 mini controller (preferred)

[Help] Xbox One controller to Android

Is it possible to use an Xbox one controller on android, I have seen conflicting statements, and if not just staight up, is there any way to get it working. Thank you guys. I do know this is probably a question thats extremely stupid to alot of you and it means alot for this help. Thanks
That depends entirely on how you intend to connect it......
If you intend to use a 'wired' controller via the USB socket on the phone then yes it is possible....though you will need an app of some sort to 'map' the buttons correctly.
If you intend to connect wirelessly, then you're out of luck.....had it been a PS3 or PS4 controller, it would have been a different story.
The xbox controller transmits via RF signals whereas the Sony equivalent transmits via bluetooth.
We can pair bluetooth devices to the phone without issue....but that's not the case for RF devices.
The only reason I know this is because I went through something similar in order to use ePSXe to play PS1 games on my S5 ....In the end I had to get a Moga bluetooth controller to do the job......
Edit.....My bad.....I was commenting about xbox 360 controllers.....just noticed you have an xbox one controller......which connects via wi fi (I believe). That has possibilities.....have you tried connecting it by wi fi direct? If it does connect that way, you'll still need some method of mapping the buttons. It may be the case that someone needs to develop an app that makes the devices communicate with each other too....afraid I haven't looked into that though....never needed it....
Sorry fella...
Edit 2.....just done a bit of research, it turns out there is no 'native' support in Android for wireless controllers, you (apparently) need an interface app and/or a rooted device that you can add/change code on....

In that case, yes it's possible. Here are a couple of youtube videos showing how it's done.........
https://youtu.be/yJ5KmhkBKcU
https://youtu.be/eDQqMH4POFQ
Though on one of them, it says that it probably won't work with the S5 stock firmware (some c**p to do with knox or something).....

Anyone else got anything that could help, Tried everything else still not working there has to be a way to get it working. Should mention its an S5

Then I don't know what else to suggest....sorry fella.....
Have you thought about the alternatives available?
As I said earlier, I use this setup....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...dpPl=1&dpID=41fFpK+LwOL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
.....and it works very well...no wires either.
All you have to do is to install the Moga Pivot app, turn bluetooth on and sync the devices....

now you can pair the Xbox one S controller (design lab included)with Bluetooth
BUT you need to update firmware first and add a profile to it with the Xbox accessories app (Xbox one or win10 store)

I understand updating the firmware...but why do we need to add a profile to it?
You need a Keyboard Layout File or the button mapping will be off. http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...-one-slim-controller-bluetooth-t3398014/page2

it add it automatically after the update,it inter the controller owner by itself.
has anyone made any forward progress on this idea? I'm thinking about swapping my elite controller for an Xbox One S controller because I would find connecting to my phone much more useful than the elite features I seldom use.

yea Microsoft made the xbox one S controller fully android compatible by firmware upgrade ( you need a cable and a app on pc or xbox one.)
and this controller is bluetooth compatible.making most xbox one original controller (and elite) obsolete.
Anyone have any info on getting the second edition of the Xbox One controller with built-in bluetooth to work on Android?
bump just finished doing the firmware update on my gamepad, reset it and my phone, still thinks my triggers are my right stick. nothing in the xbox accessories app to switch axis around. sigh.
