Hi community!
We all want the Android 7 on our Huawei P8, although our hopes unfortunately are null.
Yesterday i googled for 1 hour and I founded a thread about the LineageOS aka CM14 on the P8 lite. Now I don't have now a P8 lite, and i don't know how to make port/custom roms, and my hope is to found some dev that can do a port.
Thread here:

(i'm not english, sorry for any grammatical error)

guys here are working hard on CM13, but its so complicated and time consuming to port it to our CPU i wouldnt count on it in near future, not even LineageOS, damn Kirin proccessors, uncompatible with anything, besides, we have only very few devs able to make roms, and they are usually bussy so they can spend only a few hours per week on porting

But do they have a similiar cpu architecture? I mean, P8 and P8 lite have got similiar CPU, so i think that it can be easy.

from my understanting from comments in CM13 thread they are, at least a bit, helping each other (p8/p8 lite devs), in my opinion P8 lite owns much more users as it was much cheaper alternative, therefore more devs owns it so the works on building a port is faster, but thats all only my opinions and truth can be somewhere else.
In my opinion even though they are similar, the chipset of p8 lite is a kirin 620 while that of p8 is a hisilicon kirin 930 and for port rom they must have the same chipset I think like mtk devices.

Phone released in Europe now. Waiting for mine, should be here within a few days. Do you think there will be any custom roms available soon, or at all?
Just made a quick search online and can't find any, and also read that it's against the rules here on xda to link to them in that case? How come?
maybe if Huawei or Honor release source code with binary.. without i thing is impossible or very very complicated, but we are waiting..
If you want to run aosp based roms like CyanogenMod then Honor/Huawei is a pretty bad choice.
Better get a Qualcomm powered phone.
it is a HiSilicon Kirin 935 CPU working. The CPU-Code is absolutely unknown for the moment! No Code = No possibility to get a custom rom!
Or did you know any other Kirin smartphone with a running custom rom on it???
There were a number of custom roms for huawei P6 (released 2013, i owned one) for sure. But not into custom roms, so not sure what was the progress with honor 6 (2014, owned it) and Honor 6 plus on custom roms. Could go through Mate 7, and P8 forums as well.
Possible if searching through Chinese websites might find MIUI 6 for honor 7 or something of that sort.
Hello!
This is my first post, any suggestions on how to improve are gladly taken!
I would like to install a Bliss Rom which does not support my Huawei P8 Lite (Android 5.0).
Is it possible? And if not, what ROMs would you suggest?
I think our cute little p8lite doesn't have any custom roms.. But we have to hope we will get a few.. Maybe some roms ported from honor 4x?
Ps. And remember... You can't install roms from another devices
i wish to be a lot or custom rooms to our p8 lite too !
will we ever get a cyanogenmod?
You may want to follow @XePeleato 's efforts in porting (help appreciated) here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-aosp-5-1-1-ale-l21-t3350106
Unfortunately at the current phase the RIL is not working (you are not able to call / receive call)
The problem probably lays in the HIiSilicon Kirin chipset. The chipset is fairly unique, with only a few devices built with it, there are no general fixes for issues like RIL problems, so everything needs manual fixing, which is like modify-rebuild-try, after every effort to trying to fix issues.
It takes time, and manual labour, which is very tedious.
XePeleato said, he'll wait for the official 6.0 releases, and try to do some things after that.
I'm also interested in the building process itself, already downloaded a linux vm, and the CM source code itself, and I'm trying to learn how the system is working, so there are mulltiple people who are willing to make ROMs.
There is a person who works on cyanogenmod for our p8lite.

You can install sokkoban's rom. It is emui but contain a lot of features that aren't available now on Huawei p8 lite. Especially camera modes like light painting, super night mode etc. http://huaweip8lite.blogspot.com/?m=1
Hey, everyone,
I just bought a new Mate 9 Lite [BLL-L23] and would like some help with how to make it my own. I am familiar with other devices - but, not the BLL-L23.
I am very appreciative, my friends! Here's what I'd like to know:
1. Does anyone know when we'll get Android Oreo (or, at the least, Android Nougat)?
-- I am currently running 6.0; EMUI 4.1.
2. Is there an official support forum for the BLL-L23?
3. Does anyone know how to root the BLL-L23 using Magisk or Chainfire (which is better)?
4. Is there a recent TWRP recovery available?
5. What else should I do to take full advantage of my device?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING, EVERYONE!

1. I guess that it would be some months after update of Mate 9 / Mate 9 Pro, but in worst case Huawei can forget about this model...
2. Did not find anything useful
3-4. You can use knowledge of Honor 6x: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x
Specifications are close to be same.
5. It is better to change device. Mate 9 has lower community versus Samsung's S8 community, but Mate 9 Lite has lowest...

Strogino, I really hope that Huawei wouldn't forget about this model - because, it's not even a year old, and many people (including Android Authority) say that Huawei is a great company with great branded phones.
I heard that there is a beta program for the Mate 9 Lite... Do you know anything about this?
Also, I know that it's obvious that Samsung S8's community is much bigger due to the popularity of the company; however, I'm sure that many people are also fans of Huawei. The Mate 9 Lite actually is a pretty decent phone for the budget!

Can you help me, i have the same device
I have a VNS-AL00(Huawei G9 Youth). It's P9 Lite(VNS-Lxx)'s Chinese edition. It seems that the difference between VNS-AL00 and VNS-Lxx is that the former uses SnapDragon 617. I think making a custom rom of SnapDragon CPUs' devices is easier than Kirin CPUs'. So are enthusiastic people making custom ROMs for VNS-AL00? I don't want to use EMUI anymore.

nobody ?
Hello, i have been trying to port PostmarketOS to my Huawei p9 lite, but since i'm a total noob i just kept getting stuck at error message after error message. I also tried to build and flash other available versions (P8 Lite and P20, which either just got stuck at "Your device is booting now...." or showing the "Please update again" screen) so i'm here to ask for someone to make a port.
Sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place and bad english/grammar.
Hello,
You are not the first to try this, unfortunately the tests did not go well. The result can be found on off. website.
Thanks for the reply, i know i'm not the first one to try this, i've also seen another recent post about pmOS for the huawei p9 lite here in this forum category, but maybe someday someone will make a port

Maybe, but I don't really believe it, because of sw/hw limitation.
They got it running even on a Huawei P8 Lite, which is pretty similar in specs (both sw/hw) so it's possible in my opinion.
The P8 Lite is very similar, just has a smaller resolution and an older CPU, the software is almost the same from what i've seen. (by software i mean fastboot/bios, i know bios isn't the right term but i have no idea what to call it)
