Which phone is better?I think J5 (2016).
And it has many reasons:
IPS display
Screen - 5.0 inches
Camera - 8MP
Battery - 2800 mAh
It's thicker
My friend's G4 Play died when he played a game, so I create this thread.
What do you think about Moto G4 Play?

Moto G4 Play is cheaper, has good XDA support and comes with AOSP by default. That's why I would choose it.
There was a similar thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/help/j500fn-upgrade-dead-lg-l-fino-t3549926 . @proudlytm chose the Moto G4 Play, so he might tell you his experience with it.

Only support?
J5 2016 hasn't support?
I don't think so.
Moto has too many minuses.
And J5 2015 has a lot of ROMs, I sure they will be on J5 2016, too.

Well, it's a GREAT phone and I am really glad with it! A big advantage of it is that it has 16gb of internal storage and 2gb ram.
Only thing that bothers me sometimes is that it lacks compass and magnetometer sensors

J5 community is sh*t
Yes we do have alot of roms for j5 2015 and the developers are great but other than that theres nothing.
J5 2016 doesnt have any custom rom developers and only a handful of tw based roms.
Moto g4 play has almost the same specs as j5 2016 only downside is the camera and battery on the g4 play

The J5 2016 will have lineage os 14.1 in the near future
Things are going slow because of the low number of developers using that device. My kernel will update gradually to cm14. Maybe someday a good programmer will come to us who can create a rom and take my project and make it full compatible with any rom.

Hi everyone.
I am torn apart among Moto G4 Plus, Motorola's last year flagship Moto X Style and Honor 8. I would appreciate any ideas and pros and cons. I am not a gamer, but my device is normally loaded with apps. Camera is very important, fluid and lag free performance is also a must.
Thank you very much in advance.

Ok I can help you out on this. I've had all three phones(just returned honor 8 and picked up moto g plus 2gb model)
Battery
Honor 8=moto g plus- they are the same
MXPE- battery life is bad
Design
Honor 8
MXPE
Moto g plus
Screen
MXPE
Moto g plus
Honor 8
Features
Honor 8- best selling point
And toss up between g plus and MXPE
Camera
Honor 8 beautiful best still photos in a phone today!!!!
MXPE and g plus a toss
Video recording
Mxpe
Moto g plus
Honor 8- one of the disappoints of the device since the still photos are beautiful
Roms
Toss up between MXPE and g plus
Honor 8- their is root, twrp, unlock bootloader.
The kirin processor sources are hard to get, and XDA partnership seems like a big stunt lie so far between them and honor
Call quality
Honor 8
Moto g plus= MXPE
Speakers

I think I will also order the G4 Plus.
Hello Everyone,
I bought a Moto G4 Plus a few months back but returned it as it was defective. Now I will be ordering another phone tomorrow, but now I am confused between two - Moto G4 Plus and Lenovo Z2 Plus( Zuk Z2), I feel that Z2 Plus is better in all aspects except the camera. Can someone please tell me how is the Camera of Moto G4 plus and if possible please compare it with the Z2 plus.
Also, if possible please suggest which phone should I buy.
Specs -
Z2 Plus - Snapdragon 820, 3500 Mah battery, 13MP camera(No OIS), 3GB RAM

Sounds like you'd be trading more performance for a better camera if you went with the G4. It's kinda up to you with what's more important.

Camera is a priority but performance stands higher.
But the Z2 also costs 50$ more so I can't decide.

As your name suggest you are an indian. And the g4 plus that are sold on amazon.in have many issues i.e all the g4 phone which are manufactured in india are a bit defective.Like overheat and screen burn are the two main problem I have seen .Zuk z1 was good and i think zuk z2 would be great. 4k rs investing more will give you a big jump in the specs
Z2
Hi, I currently have a Moto G (2014) and I want to change my phone.
I don't know if I should wait for the moto G5 (I don't know the release date) or buy the G4 now.
I heard that it will be not much better than the G4 anyway ?
Also another question , how's the x265(1080p) decoding on Moto G4 ? Most of my video files are encoded in x265..
G5 images was fake... Go for g4 plus
Dunno

I havent had any problems with G4+. I dont play many games and I dont record long videos so I havent had any heat issues. I bought 64gb for $250 on Swappa.
I unlocked bootloader, Seamless root without any hiccups. Great device for me.
I dont think the Moto G series will get much better than the current Moto G4+ for a year or two.
PS I also have Moto G3 2015 as my oops phone. There is an advantage with Moto G4+.
Unless I'm mistaken it's the same hardware just with a fingerprint sensor and more storage options. I have the regular G4 and like it and wouldn't use the fingerprint anyways. If you want more storage it's probably cheaper to get like a 32-64gb as card for cheaper than the price difference of buying the other phone model. Just my opinion.
Go for Moto G4 plus now !
Go for G4+ as the G5 news cannot be relied upon. Also, your G(2014) is way too old, if you wanna change your phone, G4+ would be best so far in that price range. Waiting for G5 at this stage will make you halt for atleast a year-and-half from now, and would not contain much of the "GREATER" changes. As for codec support, the device (G4+) works perfectly fine with the x265(1080p) decoding. In fact it works brilliant with all codecs.
Wait for REDMI 4 PRIME ( Snapdragon 625, 4000mAh battery,3GB RAm,32 gb internal, fingerprint scanner), all under 15K!!!!!
Its rumoured to launch in India in Jan/Feb.
I would hold my horses and wait for its launch,Snapdragon 617 is one of the worst performing Soc ever(I didn't forgot Snapdragon 810 v2.1)
PS: I have nothing against g4 plus except that mediocre processor used by Moto to save cost!! I recommended my sister to buy moto g4 plus, it's an excellent camera phone under 15K,if not the best budget phone.

The phone throttles very soon and is not good basic functionality like recording FHD videos as the frame drops starts to occur and is even present in the saved video file. Also not good for gaming more than 30min!!!!!!

It was fixed some months ago. No overheating issues viewing VR 360º videos or playing Asphalt 8 in latest MM or Nougat.
Can we install ROM of a device which has same specification as our mobile.
Since Redmi 2, Galaxy J5 (2015) & Lenovo a6000 has somewhat same specification....so can we??
If not why???

No. Even if some of the specifications, say the processor and ram, are same; their are other hardware in the phone which are completely different. For e.g., even if any two devices have same camera of 8MP, same aperture and all, but still if the manufacturer of that particular camera sensor is different, they both will require different drivers to run. Same goes with flashlight, proximity sensor, fingerprint sensor and other hardware you can think of. While having the same SoC allows the porting of ROMs and hence ROMs from Redmi 2 m, for e.g., can be ported to the Lenovo A6000/Plus.
Cheers!!
Can anyone suggest any working Gcam for galaxy A5 2016? I have tried some but it won't install saying app isn't compatible. I don't mind editing build prop or anything as A5 2016's camera has a lot of potential but I'm not a big fan of over exposure also if you have any other way to improve the issue It'll be a big help. Thanks in advance
