Can we install ROM of a device which has same specification as our mobile.
Since Redmi 2, Galaxy J5 (2015) & Lenovo a6000 has somewhat same specification....so can we??
If not why???

No. Even if some of the specifications, say the processor and ram, are same; their are other hardware in the phone which are completely different. For e.g., even if any two devices have same camera of 8MP, same aperture and all, but still if the manufacturer of that particular camera sensor is different, they both will require different drivers to run. Same goes with flashlight, proximity sensor, fingerprint sensor and other hardware you can think of. While having the same SoC allows the porting of ROMs and hence ROMs from Redmi 2 m, for e.g., can be ported to the Lenovo A6000/Plus.
Cheers!!

Hi,
I am pretty new to the Xiaomi- and especially to the Mediathek-world. This is why I have this noob question :silly:
Is the Redmi Pro currently the top smartphone by Xiaomi, at least hardware-wise?
Of course, besides Mi5/S, which run the SD 820/821...
Or is e.g. the Note 4 the stronger device, or any other? As far as I know, the Redmi-line is more a budget-thing, right?
Thx for any info on this! :highfive:
Best
P
Redmi Pro is known as the Xiaomi Redmi's flagship and that means It is the strongest of the Redmi's even that it is Mediatek powered . mediatek disadvantage is that they does not release sources (which is needed for compiling custom roms and kernels) and the Snapdragon release its sources thats because snapdragon devices are the most wanted and that means bigger price but weaker phone. redmi pro's helio x20 or x25 is compared to snapdragon 810 and and its very close to sd 820. Redmi note 4 has the same chip (x20) but isnt better than redmi pro.Redmi note 4 PRO has a sd652 and that means it has more development for that device.
If you want a phone with a lot development buy redmi note 4 PRO --- if you want a stronger phone buy REDMI PRO.
PS: the best xiaomi for now is MI MIX (the bezelles device
Thank you very much! My times of ROM-hopping are over...my current S7 is not even rooted...so I guess the Redmi Pro will be my first try on the chinese devices (Huawei P9 would be interesting, too, but I am searching for a bigger phone)
I have checked the Mix, it looks gorgeous and I would love to get my hands on this, but the price is far from what I invest in smartphones normally...
So, next step is checking the int. Xiaomi-ROM for the Pro, how to install and what to expect...
The best xiaomi device now is mi5, mi mix, mi note 2.
S7 has much better camera. Redmi Pro is not considered as flagman.
Xiaomi has better models like Mi5.
Even so I would prefare Redmi Pro because of OLED display.
But now Im having trouble with flashing ROM as it doesn't has official global vertion. So you need to apply for unlock bootloader and wait. Some people wait more than 10 days.
It's a good phone but with some really annoying hang ups. ( performance in general is good to very good with occasional lag due to bad core switching, screen is nice although a tad dim for outdoor use, build quality is great)
First of all the camera is a complete waste of time and this appears to be a software issue as the sensor it's self is capable of taking decent photographs. But it's honestly one of the worst smart phone cameras I've used and I've used a lot.
If you've ever used a blackberry in 2010-2011 that's the sort of quality so expect only at higher resolutions.
Second of all Xiaomi appears to have abandoned further development for the device ( no news on 7.0)
Also its missing wireless n support which is just weird, doesn't bother me oh so much as I rarely transfer files over WiFi but still an odd omission.

He said the flagship for the xiaomi redmi series not xiaomi mi series
Nokia 6 and moto g4 plus both are work in stock android
In Nokia 6 Google camera to possible portrait mode
But moto g4 plus why can't install
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/themes/google-camera-hdr-portrait-selfie-t3733577
Please dev work camera
Portrait mode not only needs software but also a hardware support! The processor support is needed.. The processors used might be different! Also, I haven't seen the ROM of Nokia 6... For portrait mode the ROM needs to be 64bit.
Google camera's portrait mode is made for pixel 2..look at its specs and the processor and the camera hardware it carries.
I don't know about Nokia 6's config so won't be able to comment exactly the difference.
But please don't ask devs to do something. They provide stuff for free and they know what to provide when! They do it in their free time hence the delay. We all have out lives apart from this forum!
You can use lens blurr in google camera for now it works in the same way.

It also doesn't help that on oreo, we don't have a stable camera.
Remember that even if the phone had the same CPU the implementation could be completely different and would require separate methods of porting.
The Pixel 2 features of GCAM is designed to be only used on the, guess what? The Pixel 2. The community has ported over the features to work on many devices but it is not designed to run on all devices.
We might even have to wait for the official release of stock oreo, please be patient and see.
Agreed with the above post. as far as i know, Gcam works effectively on 64 bit ROM with camera2api and Oreo. We still do not have official Oreo neither do we have oreo camera drivers to support it.
Why Google camera is working on Moto g5 plus and not on Moto g4 plus since both have ported 64bit ROM
I was wondering if it would ever be possible to get pixel camera ports (pixel 1 / pixel 2) for any Note 4 variant? I noticed that the tmobile variant is the only one so far that has a 8.0 rom (lineage). I flashed the rom and this did not allow the apks to work...I am prompted with messages that state it is not compatible with the device.
How is it possible that the camera ports work on the moto g5 plus running 8.0 rom, but not on the note 4?
- Moto g has snapdragon 625, note 4 has snapdragon 805. Isn't note 4 processor better?
Is the note 4 lacking in camera api2? I read that could have been a factor somewhere
Anyways, just hoping to get some feedback and maybe it will also shed some lights to others hoping to do the same.
I have the same problem. Any luck finding an APK? Really want Google camera on my Samsung note 4 running linage 15.1.
Bro note 4 has a 32bit os that is the limiting factor
pixel camera mod needs 64bit os
Gcam 4.1.006.135988111 works on LO 14.1 and [ROM][EOL][9] Havoc-OS 2.9
I switched to a9 2018 recently from mi a1. And this phone does not have separate forums or threads and community?. I was able to use google camera on my mi a1 and it was great and in this device i tried too many gcam mods but not even a single google cam port works.
Can someone please port gcam to a9,a7 2018 sereies.
This phone has snapdragon processor so gcam port is possible. ?
Sorry for bad english :silly:

Its working on
Google Camera 4.1.006.135988111 version or lower, its disappointing we cannot use latest feature on samsung galaxy a9, m also confused why samsung didn't enable camera 2 api, were like new company xioami is enabling on there phone, like poco f1...one more thing, samsung should give pro and night mode on this phone also, becoz this phone is special for camera ( Quad camera ), If samsung can't give this feature on this phone then its not worth.

GCam 7 for Samsung A9 2018
hello pls can you help me. I recently got a Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 updated with android 10 from work. I want to root it just so that I can use Google camera but in 2 years be able to unroot it to give back to office. What exactly do I need to do to (1) backup current stock firmware and (2) get GCam 7.3 working on a Samsung A9?
My device(SM-A920F) have been root and I enable the camera 2 API,but I still can't use the gcam when I open it, it's black screen then crash.
How to do to let Google camera attached the lens?

Hello, you found a solution, the same thing happens to me in all the versions that I have installed.
Do you think the camera features/modes from the Note 10 plus will be ported to the S10 plus?

The measuring features, no, because of hardware limitation (lack of tof sensor)
Other stuff maybe, but after a while.
