My 7501 is less than a week old and I'm using Michi's 2.18d in 1.2 spl mode and it is awesome. Owe that guy a beer.
The reason for my post is that I come from a Tilt and Eten x800 history and the trend with HTC has been the cool, sleek, black/grey backgrounds and Home themes. What I'd like is something more colorful to really show off this awesome 5" screen. I like the layout of the Big HTC Home theme, but it would be nice to jazz it up with some color. Any ideas?
Stick a different background on there...
WK Task allows you to change a graded fade to the topbar if you use that.
Hi guys, looking for my ne diamond I found something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.de/3-2-WQVGA-WM6-1-...g_KM?hash=item414908ab83&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
I am almost sure, but please tell me, is it a fake?
Yes it's fake...
It's ugly... Black with silver is way better
And.. the diamond2 has a WVGA screen, not WQVGA
And.. the diamond2 has a 5mp camera, not 3.2
And.. the diamond2 has a indicator LED, this one doesn't
And.. the diamond2 has a way better battery than this one
But.. This one has a mat black backcover, the original one doesn't have that
OK, thanks a lot man, seeing many brands which sell HTC thought something unknown appeared, but better ask twice So I look further.
By the way, is anyone making diamond 1 style battery cover for diamond 2?
No, there are no other official battery covers yet..
I have seen some mat black ones but they are very rare and hard to get.
There isn't a TD1 battery cover style made yet.
Those housings were from a small asian market. I had one for a short time. It is a real htc device, but has been outsourced to the asian market, and downgraded a bit like the mda phones. You cannot use a factory stylus with it either.... The housing is actually smaller than the factory one and uses a smaller circuit board. Everything else is the same though. Not a good buy, as the quality of parts to make it were 2nd run ones from htc....
God, this one is fake?! It's just the same as the real one...Asian maket makes and sells these fakes....Even though it looks like the real one I guess it's rubbish.....
Cosmetic discrepancies:
- No indicator LED or ambient light detector near earpiece
- No front facing VGA (video call) camera
- No htc logo to top left of screen
- Metal surround should be a lighter metal, not gunmetal as shown (suspect plastic)
- hardware buttons under screen should match metal surround, be lighter in colour
- Word "INNOVATION" not preceded by word "htc"
- Power button recessed into surround, should stand proud by ~1mm
- Power button too thick; Should match width of volume control
- mini-USB port incorrect shape, will not support proprietary Audio-out features
- Opening for lanyard loop should be to left of mini-USB port
- Back cover should read [htc logo] F2.8 AUTO FOCUS 5.) MEGA PIXELS
- "Diamond" back camera surround should have brushed metal finish
Obvious ones I can see from pictures, anyway!
Note that instead of fake, it is "Generic" brand, this particular one being "Black". It's also €155... HTC Touch Diamond 2 retails for approx £400, over twice the price.
The specs are different too.... camera and memory ar emor akin to the diamond rather than diamond 2...
A huge difference: it doesn't appear to be 3G!!
Gotta smile at the sheer effort these guys put in to the "fakes" (but sad when someone falls for it).
I just read about that Aluminium theme for Windows Mobile based devices on the XDA Homepage. Here is the link.
I understand its a long shot to have that ported or created for our Legend or other Android devices.
But do you guys know maybe a similar theme for Android? Just imagine how cool it would look with the Alu unibody. ;-)
I completely agree.
It is not hard to make Aluminium suite for Android.Just you need to learn some programming and principles...I would make a Aluminium theme (and now Aluminium Weather known as "STRAT-O-SPHERE" project visible HERE) but I do not have such device to study it further...
Nothing is impossible !
Hi
....Im looking for a smaller version of the rectangle rosie dock, ive looked in the themes but they are all fairly hefty,no bigger than the normal curved, but i think the rectangle just looks way too big! any one know how to reduce size,to say a 3rd of the size?
Any know if we can design our own themes for the S8? HTC allow you to create your own themes online using an editor they have online! Is there anything similar for Samsung thats easy to use?

I don't understand paid service: do I have to pay to be able to design my own theme, or do I get paid when somebody else likes my theme and wants to buy it?
Also, do you know of any software to design theme on the computer? Phone is the last thing I would want to do any work on.
Well, I just signed up for it. Basically it asked for two links (I gave them one of my portfolio and one of my resume), your name, business (if it applies), and "Why do you want to develop themes for Samsung" (lol...). They said they will send an email soon letting me know the answer.
Cool, keep us posting plse.

Main Features of Theme Editor
you can read about the main features of the theme editor here:
To build a theme you will need to Follow these instructions this should help you layout a good theme that looks good that you can add as a solid reputable digital product to your portfolio.
1. choosing a backround
choosing a back round is the focal point if you will of the entire theme you should choose an image that isn't to busy so when you add smaller characteristics such as buttons and other elements they are easy to identify.
Choosing a background should be with an image that pops or makes a statement. here are a few guide-lines when choosing a background what to look for.
scenery backgrounds should have solid contrast you will want to use the primary color or its opposite for the buttons and other touch elements
dark or black backgrounds - you will want to off set dark backgrounds with bright colors or white touch elements.
white back rounds you will want to use dark or bright colored touch elements.
2. touch elements
Touch elements are the features that a user will need to easily identify to operate the device. You want to use flat elements with darker backgrounds and/or colorful backgrounds.
when useing lighter backgrounds or white backgrounds you will only want to use flat icons or touch elements if the are dark or grey.
3. Themeing
When themeing you want to layout a specific background to do so start by writing down a category of interest.
lets say you picked beach themes you have beach themes in many assortments from bright with lots of sunlight, many colors and multiple contrast(sunsets), darker night beach time themes. you also need to consider what is going to be more dominant the beach, the ocean or the sky.
lest say you have a beach theme in mid day with lots of ocean waves. the main colors are going to be the darkest colors which would be a variant of blue.
To make this look good you want touch elements that are opposite of the contrast such as white, light grey, or black, you could use blue or dark blue but would only be drowning the theme in blue.
You will then need to find sets of elements shapes and styles either rounded , circular or square to fit you theme.
depending on the contour of the background is how you should determine the style of buttons.
It is pretty much that simple start with a background and build it up with features.
