Aluminium Theme for HTC Legend - Legend General

I just read about that Aluminium theme for Windows Mobile based devices on the XDA Homepage. Here is the link.
I understand its a long shot to have that ported or created for our Legend or other Android devices.
But do you guys know maybe a similar theme for Android? Just imagine how cool it would look with the Alu unibody. ;-)

I completely agree.

It is not hard to make Aluminium suite for Android.Just you need to learn some programming and principles...I would make a Aluminium theme (and now Aluminium Weather known as "STRAT-O-SPHERE" project visible HERE) but I do not have such device to study it further...
Nothing is impossible !

[THEME] Clarity (WAD2)

Hey guys, just to let you know about the second of my themes for the Xperia called "Clarity".
As with my previous, and any more I will create it is for the purpose of allowing maximal viewing of the walpaper of your choice while at hte same time giving you access to all the most important information you need. Also, with my themes, all will be created so that the taskbar can be on or off and not affect the theme.
They may also be used on other devices since the major resolution defining part is the wallpaper and I am not releasing these with specific wallpapers.
NOTE: The only planned additions *may* be to add a slide out dock with WiFi/BT connectivity. I try to keep these as light as possible for aesthetic and performance purposes.
Comments, criticism, suggestions welcome, enjoy some shots:
UPDATE: I have created the landscape version. Finally managed to get the file attached this morning, enjoy.
Note, in anticipation that most of you are in fact right handed, unlike myself, I have moved the "dock" with the indicators to the right side of the screen in landscape mode, so that when holding the phone one handed you can press them with your thumb. I did not place the dock (in landscape mode) to allow for the taskbar on (would take up too much space) this will be the only exception, and you can move the parts yourself if you need taskbar on.[/color]
NOTE: Like my other theme, the message links may not take you exactly where you want, but they can be edited to take you directly to SMS and to a specific email inbox. Because I don't know what you name your inbox, I can not do that for you.
Enjoy.
Looks awesome dude, wd. Soz but yeah I'm not really in to themes, although I wish I could get the taskbar to be black but also with that shiny texture you know, something to do with base hue. All themes with a black taskbar looks like too gray. but ah well.
Like the work youre doing!
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words, I agree, theming isn't for everyone, but as a person used to phones with flashy UIs and more so a person that will do anything he can to that UI to make sure his wallpaper can be seen as much as possible (the entire first page on my iphone is blank apart from the wallpaper, and the lockscreen has nothing but the clock and the taskbar (which is invisible) icons.), I try to bring the perfect mix of function and aesthetics.
I know what you mean about the titlebar, Surely there is a way to edit one of the existing themes? I know you can make your own themes (although when I tried it, it refused to display on my Xperia) with the nice gradiented titlebar in black.

I see what you mean, i just set my experia to the Silver Theme and it is the glossy gray (silver) one. I wonder why the black Xperia theme doesn't have this "glossy" bar but instead a flat black one. The silver theme is yuck though, (especially on my Black X1), although saying that, I'm making themes for WAD so I obviously don't like either of them much.

Well Silver Theme is yuck? In fact you can't do too much inside of WM themes, and his one has just a perfect readability.

P.S. it may or may not be obvious, I only just realised, but the "indication" of calls/messages/sms as shown by the relevent icon "lighting" white. No calls/email/sms will leave it see through. Each item when clicked will link you to the relevent place, of course.

Well ok, that kind of enthusiasm from just one person is enough to warrant the effort.
I'm off out now, give me until about 1am GMT and I should have a release all being well and I get back to my hotel in one piece, and the internet is still working.
The wallpapers (except the girl) are all included with the Xperia by default (you may need to set them to stretched to display right) so I will include the picture of "Pepper", although all credit must go to her creator over at Deviant Art for the wallpaper itself. (Look for Pepper Love).

Ok, I was just surprised that you wrote Silver Theme is yuck. Of course it's correct english
Actually I talk about the whole theme not standby only.
So I thought X1 Silver Theme is perfectly readible - especially in menus and apps - it has a black coursor bar or however you call it, in reverse to most other ones where it's grey or green etc. I hope I'm clear...
Looks intriguing, will surely give it a try when it is released!
I see.

Oh I see what you mean, I never really thought about the theme outside of the Today screen. Probably because the bold white text on the black taskbar of the black theme seems to give a perfect contrast and readability. I tried the Silver theme briefly and it's gray taskbar wasnt too nice and the brush steel type wallpaper I don't like, but then I don't particularly like the Black one either with its colours.
Anyway, I just got back to my hotel so I'm going to see if I can get quickly chuck together a landscape bit for this and release the .wadesktop files here asap.
Attached
The theme is now attached in first post, please let me know if it's all working correctly. Enjoy.
I don't have WAD2, but I'd just like to comment that the theme looks awesome.
How can I install the theme???
please help!!!!
Ok

First of all you need to have Wisbar Advance Desktop 2.
According to the Wisbar website they are like executable cabs but they work via the Wisbar program. It says all you need to do is copy the .wadesktop file to your device and run it (double click) it should extract it all correctly.
Then just go into change theme and apply it. (By hold-clicking the background while in WAD2.)

shud be simple..
1.get a mathematical function (possibly a fractal) which will accurately represent the shatter..
2.map the pixels directly.
3.get the color combo right..
4.blend with alpha.
(optional) randomize the axis or origin for different shatter pattern everytime. rest is creativity

Art & Drawing Apps

Guys,
Have any of you come across a 'decent' Art & Drawing application?
I know there are quite a few but I'm looking for one that has realistic brushes/palette and tools.
It 'must' have an ability to use 'smear' where I can smear many colours or do a graduated colour spread.
Another nice to have would be 'pressure sensitivity' ~ whereby applying various forms of pressure gives off varying brush thickness.
Thanks in advance.

Bother..... Just realized I've posted this in the wrong section. Should have gone in the Themes and Apps section....
Staff, please relocate, my apologies.

I've been looking for one to, but they all seem to be just very basic finger paint programs.

That's the trouble which I have found as well.
Besides my profession I have a passion with photography and drawing.
I would handsomely pay quite a lot of there were an Art package available that you could use properly for sketch and watercolour.
Again, if anyone has any ideas please do let us know.
Not found anything that is pressure sensitive, not sure if that's even possible. I found a simple sketch app that simulates the effect based on the speed of your finger.
There might be a opportunity here for someone. I used to write art packages, but now that I work in computer graphics, I'm not sure I have the same enthusiasm for doing it in my spare time.

Pressure sensitivity is possible Mark, well on Windows Mobile that is...
There's a title named DynaInk which supports pressure sensitivity and has very basic smudging effect built in.
What was the name of the title you found and did it support 'smudge/smear'?
With all the titles available one would like to believe there must be an App available that can mimic an artists drawing/painting board.
It was Sketcher, it doesnt support the features you're looking for Mike, but with the Sketchy brush selected did allow you to get several colours on top of one another in an air-brush type fashion.

Thanks Mark found it..... I like the idea but you are right, it's not my cup of tea.
Did find one of interest ~ Magic Doodle Lite
It only has the single brush in the Lite version but it does allow you to graduate your colour if you use a specific brush fill pattern.
The Pro version has 35 real artist brushes (not 8 as the Market mentions), prismacolour, acrylic, hue & saturation, pencil colour, van gogh oil, rembrandt watercolour, skin tone, cool colours, weak saturation, grey saturation, 3 greys sacle, victorian, nocturne.
More drawing & painting tools.
Eyedropper to select colours fro your paintings.
Extra zooming from 50% to 1000%
Colour bucket to quickly fill closed forms and shapes.
Smudge tool.
Symmetrical drawing tool.
Premium also has search for painting ideas.
65 modern style patterns for more inspirations.
24 colourful ethnic art models for training.
Pro version costs E1.39 (USD 1.96)
Have not installed or tried, but Picsay might be worth tying.
I have not tried this
So not sure if this is what you looking for

Picsay is more a Photo Editor than a dedicated drawing program.
There's little to no art tools.

DoodleDroid again works with Photo's.
Basically I need to work from a blank canvass just as you would if putting chalk, pastel, paint, etc on paper.
Thanks guys.
Not what I am seeking but I do appreciate the feedback.
So has anyone found anything better yet? I haven't had much luck in finding anything good.

The nearest I have found is Magic Doodle.
The Lite version only has the single brush whereas the full has quite a lot more.
I've given myself to looking until the end of July. If I can't find anything further to my needs then I'll pay for the full version.

ideas for the successor of the xperia z

before i start my english and grammar is terrible
the xperia z is perfect and i don't want sony to steer away from this master piece so i just want to throw out a few wishes on what i think the next one should have who knows maybe it will happen?
screeen:
i think sony should develop their own version of the super amoled panel with realistic colors greater brightness and contrast which would ofcourse bring true black and flawless viewing angles i want sony to make the best panel available today like the old days of the trinitron tube
softkey customization:
due to the true black nature of the screen you wouldn't be able to tell that the softkeys are part of the screen so they would look liks physical buttons
you could change colors of the keys size and icons they would be fully customizable and you wouldn't be able to tell that they are part of the screen in short they would be capacitive buttons you can change icons colors and size of or for fun have them pulse through colors
the keys should also autohide by default when going into fullscreen applications holding at the bottom for about 10 seconds (changable) to have them appear for 5 or whatever seconds you prefer
software:
i want the old xperia s wave to be put back in much more colors more particle effects sharper and updated i had to download it from the play store
and this is wishful thinking but i still want to throw it in here
inbuilt rooting
you go into settings of the phone and you get two options (normal root) which just gives you SU persmissions and advanced root which let's you install custom roms through a sony boot menu or recovery menu with all functions you need in one menu that you access by holding a few buttons plain and simply simplified rooting and changing roms
this would ofcourse only be possible on a unlocked retail phone i don't think carriers would allow it then again noone probably will
ability to customize screenspace if you want a standard phone with a keypad at the bottom you just add it or you could add your own bezels if you want some hand space
looks:
available in different sizes and in a full body aluminum body like the htc one
theres not much here to suggest but i want the XPERIA text to be moved in the corner of the phone and alot less sticking out i want the warning text and CE logos to be grey and not visible at all i want the barcode to be on a sticker and not printed in the phone itself
(made in china sortof puts off the idea that the phone is japanese?)
i also had a small idea of a lightstrip all around the phone but i am not sure if that would ruin it's looks (then again the phone is already made of glass so theres no need for a strip around the phone) having the entire phone being able to light up through it's glass body would be awesome though or a very very very thin invisible lightstrip around the phone that can do flow effects and smoke effects where the colors move up and down to either music games or for fun or for notifications
anti fingerprint coating on all parts of the phone fingerprints would not be visible even when it's off to keep it's beautiful looks
speakers:
two stereo speakers at the front hidden in the phone speaker and phone mic using the same holes
padfone concept:
unless asus patented this concept i would like a tablet z like tablet for the xperia z to dock it in both are ofcourse water resistant
i also want to be able to buy a much higher quality more xpensive dock for the phone in any other material then cheap plastic it scares me putting the phone down in this dock as theres no rubber or anything just the phone scraping in the plastic
wireless charging should be a given for a phone like this
a wireless bluetooth keyboard that you can attach to the phone similar to the sony ericsson p910i infact a successor to the p910i with android would be nice
i love this phone and i HOPE sony won't steer away from this shape (all square) seeing the new phones sony released sortof makes me think they will
curved back
slanted edge at the front
what would be acceptable too me would be a slightly curved back not inside curve but outside and slightly curved corners like the padfone infinity

If it is then why make this topic??
I really don't get the point of this topic.
But since you created this topic I'll give some idea's:
I want the next Z to be a device which I can use to start up my car, with the device I should be able to control every device in my house.:silly:

it's just that these threads don't benefit anyone.
we all have ideas/hopes for improvements. i too would love an aluminum-frame padfone-style xperia z that is somehow waterproof and also has an amazing battery life and a hugely improved screen with hideable softkeys.
but i can say all that i want, what does that do for anyone else?
Three new Sony phones coming,

Scratches on the M8 depending on color

I've been considering the HTC One M8 for my next purchase and I was targeting the Gunmetal grey version (it really looks awesome), BUT from what I've been reading, besides being a little slippery in the hand, it is very scratch prone. (some remote topics here on XDA, some remote topics in android central's forum, etc.)
Seeing on how a lot of us wouldn't want to hide such a great phone behind a cover, let's talk here about how easy or hard it is to scratch the phone and how it looks after some wear-and-tear and, maybe, how it all depends on the color of the phone ...
Last year, the silver M7 stood really well in this department, with scratches being less easier to spot than the colored versions. How is it now on the M8 Gunmetal grey or Gold compared to the Silver model?
Anybody got scratches? How easily did the phone scratch?
Maybe some of the users could contribute with pictures and stories, eventually giving info for those of us who are still undecided on which color to get :good: ...
