Keep reading how Google Assistant will be pushed out to all Android 6 and 7 phones starting this week. I'm assuming we'll have on the Moto Z but, when it arrives, how will I know I've got it? Does Google Now go away, replace with Google Assistant? Is this a good thing? I have no idea what to expect.

I just got it didn't notice until I tried to long press the home button for now on tap then it popped up.
One cool thing I've noticed is saying okay google launches the assistant but pressing the mic on the top search bar let you use google now. So if I want it to read my last text message I use the mic. Best of both worlds.
I don't use moto voice it has slowed down considerably as of late, and okay google runs smoother.
Hope this answers your question. Also I'm in the midwest (minnesota) and it launched tonight.

Wow.. must be moving west to east! I'm in Virginia and just long-pressed the home button and was greeted with the notice that "You just got the Google Assistant!"
Guess I'll be able to find out for myself now what all the fuss is about!

I just got it tonight, 3/9/17, Verizon Moto Z Force, in New York City.
I've been long pressing the home button all week to no avail. It just worked tonight, at 10:00pm.
Just got it this morning 3/10/17, Moto Z Force in Wichita, KS.
Just got it this morning, z force, Chicago.
Huh. Just got google assistant apparently. Z-Force in Canada.
Ive also got the assistant. It seems to be a real battery drain though. Has anyone else noticed?

It wasn't working for most people outside the U.S.
What was weird was I didn't see the update in the My Apps list. I had to manually search for Google Voice. Then it showed me the update for it.

I think its USA only... which is bs in my opinion

The latest Google Voice Blog post shows hope for people outside the US though. One of the things they celebrated in the post was making Voice available to all US users.
Then they go on to say they are working hard to make it available to more people. But then again, more than a year ago they said they were working hard to get it into Canada. Maybe we can blame the CRTC or something?
perfect for me!
Awesome, I'm up and running again!
minor google voice issue
experiencing a minor glitch with voice. when i click back from the main messages screen it does the screen zoom thing but then comes back to the message screen. only after i click back again does the app exit. any else experiencing this? i thought they fixed this with an update a while back.
I'm loving my n7 at the moment and don't want to root it like I have with my other androids. I just want to know if anyone has information on when gwallet comes to the UK.
Google first said it will be in Q1 of 2012 which soon changed to in time before the Olympics. Now we're half way though the Olympics and Google hasn't said or done anything.
Its come to look like Google are terrible at release dates, as I had problems with Google giving dates when getting my n7, and now this. They also had big problems with the Q.
I also want to get the tablet home screen in landscape whilst keeping the softkeys as they are, any recommendations ?
I've tried apex but it wastes too much space and nova and stock are just the phone ui landscape.
Once again I'm trying to hold back from rooting.
Thanks.

Google have never given any such dates for the release of Google Wallet; you can't complain about them not meeting deadlines that they did not provide. The only passing comment that Google have made about Google Wallet's European release is that they want to have it in a European city before the end of 2012.
There was unofficial hints about Google Wallet being out for the Olympics but that obviously never happened. Its looking like the Visa NFC app will launch before Google Wallet does.
But as the guy above this post said, Google never officially said anything.
it saddens me to read how its stillnot available...hopefully we will get google wallet here in the uk soon...mean only been waiting for google play music app for uk only been like years plus 3d maps lol
I've managed to get Google music using a proxy, you should, its only to sign up, once you have you can use cloud music as much as you want, you cant buy songs though.

no news on the wallet front?
I read somewhere that the G2 was one of a few phones, aside from the Moto X and the other new Droids, that has the necessary hardware to support the software Motorola uses for the Touchless Controls, the whole "Okay Google Now" thing. Has anyone tried to port this software over to the G2 yet? I bought my mother the Moto X, and have to admit the feature is pretty cool. I would do it myself, except the fact that I don't have a clue how!! So, whose butt do I have to kiss to get this thing to work on the G2? Thanks!!!!
I dunno I kinda felt silly using the Voice Mate and saying Hello Genie.

Yeah, I don't see using the feature all that much in public. But while I'm in my car or at home, would be nice. I do find "Okay Google Now" to be a tongue twister somehow. Try it.

Yea it comes in handy I mean I've used Google Now with voice searching and dictated some texts while driving so yea it would be nice feature but those times are rare since I usually just have music going in car and rarely text or take calls when driving. Still I guess if my phone was always listening for my commands it could be cool to sit it up on a table near me while I'm doing whatever and tell it what to do.
I retrained my launch phrase to be Ok Moto Now and it works better than OK Google Now, plus it doesn't feel as stupid to say!

Cool - just by training? Or did you change something in the system?
You probably will have many more false positives.

Why, it is the same number of syllables? And Moto is somewhat an unusual word like Google.
This is actually a topic I was going to start on Reddit a few days ago. How "Ok Moto" is so much easier to say, and just makes more sense than the ridiculous phrase they came up with. It's also adding to their brand recognition every time someone sees/hears you use it.
I recall reading here that when someone looked into the code that handles decoding the phrase the original may have been "hello moto". The "OK google now" was clearly a google influence. I have tried various other word combos but none work as well as "ok google now", the code is clearly optimized for it.

I have been testing it for hours now and the OK Moto Now works better for me. YMMV.

ITA and it works better for me. Late at night when I am tired or if I have been drinking, I can't even pronounce Google properly, lol! Moto is so much easier to say and not as stupid sounding.
Been trying this with no success - it's as if it realizes I'm saying something other than "Ok Google Now", says "Sorry didn't catch that". Do I need to clear data?

I dropped the "Now" entirely and so far it seems to work just fine with "OK Moto!". Will run with it until I notice any problems. It complained a bit on the 3rd training attempt, but I finally got it to accept the new phrase.

I did that, too and it is working fine for me. Much easier to say OK Moto. And no big deal to retrain if it gives me false positives.
I found just OK moto was activating it when just saying OK. By changing it to ok moto now it works just like saying OK Google now.

I tried Hello Moto and it wouldn't take it.
For the same number of syllables, I'm surprised nobody has suggested "OK Moto X" yet.

That works, too; it is just that it responds before I even get to say "X". So it is really responding to "OK Moto".

It should say/show that your phrase is incorrect. Given enough times it will set it to whatever you say. Mine would respond to "Ok Moo Cow" but the ambient noise issues and accidental dials when I was doing nothing made me change back.
I've had numerous false activations while driving, and once while it was in my pocket. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Which do you prefer and why?
Have always used google voice(now) but it seems the moto one uses google now for a lot of things and expands on it.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk 2
I agree. The Moto seems to rely on Google now for all of my commands.
Does it recognise your voice command @ all times? Maybe it's my wakeup command needs changing, I find that I have to repeat it few times before the device responds.
I like moto voice better but now it activates with out a command even in a quite room. I have a nexus 6 with Android 6.0 and it works with screen off and is better than moto voice so far.

You have to record your voice in a very quiet environment. Otherwise your phone will be listening for weird background noise and activate at random.
I don't remember my command failing even 1 time.

Your Google voice command or moto command?
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk 2
I like Google now better. If I tell it to call a local business, it uses search results to find the number. Moto will only dial numbers in my contacts.
Think I'm liking Google Now a bit better, but haven't used Moto voice enough to give a good reason to not use it. Gotta give it more time and then make the decision which to go with.
I've tried using only the Google Now voice commands, and I keep coming back to the Moto X commands for one main reason: I can still use voice commands when the screen is off and the phone is not charging. That's one of the big reasons I bought the OG Moto X, and it is something that is a pain point in trying to change.
Until I can ask my phone, "What's up?" with the screen off and not charging and have my phone respond, I'll stick with the Moto X voice actions.
... Actually, "What's up?" doesn't even work with the Google Now voice commands, right??
Anyone here uses Moto 360?
I was thinking in grabbing one.
Does it turns the Moto Voice from the smartphone useless?
Think I'm gonna have to go back to Google. Moto voice is activating at strange times and last night at my daughters band banquet it dialed my Pastor of all people and I heard the phone ringing, my wife is like 'is that your phone?' and then I hear 'Hello? Hello?' lol. Stupid thing....
Are you using a phrase that may be too common? I can't say I have had that happen.
'Ok Moto X'. Maybe I should change it? Didn't think that was easy to match but who knows...
Could be keying off OK too much. Mine is Moto are you ready. I never have any issues. Good luck.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Mine is Moto make me a sandwich and it goes off once or twice a day. Feel like an idiot when my phone just randomly turns on. Probably going to turn it off. I refuse to use a more complicated phrase, then it's no longer convenient for me.
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
yes moto voice uses google now for a lot of commands, but moto voice does its own things too, like when you say goodnight, putting it into sleep mode. telling you your notifications when saying "whats up"....and even ringing your phone when you say "find my phone"
moto voice is basically google now + extras
