Hello.
I've a TAB A6 SM-T580 16 Go with MM 6.0.1
I'd tried to merge the memory SD card's (64 Go) with the internal memory using ADB command.
In reality, the result is a joke. It's always not possible to instal apps beyond 16 Go of storage.
Does anyone have a solution ? My son is very disappointed. It must each time uninstal some application to proceed new instal.
Help please.
you would need to install superuser with pc to root it.
then an app like apps2sd to link the app data to sd.
the sd card also need to be 2 partitions.
something like smaller partition 1 fat32
larger partition 2 ext4

or in general, how would i setup the sd card if it has old apps installed? i want to add more to my main sd and the installer partition shrink. is there any windows app for this? i cant see the apps installed on that card. im looking for a guide/tutorial for sd cards for android use.
i found a guide and know how to access this but i dont know how to change the sizes and what ext is and all that. i have the 4gb card the nexus came with and want to make 3gb of storage and the rest to be for installing apps. so how would i set this up in the recovery thing?
errr. dont know if my reaserch is correct for the 4GB card that came with the nexus one...
i set SWAP-SIZE to 32MB
then EXT2 to 768MB
upgraded to EXT3
upgraded to EXT4
you don't need to partition SD if you are running Froyo; it does it automatically, you can move to SD if the app creator sets it up that way
right now there are few apps that can be moved to SD on Froyo, like autostarts, setcpu 1.54
or you can use terminal emulator and type the following:
1. su (press enter)
2. pm setInstallLocation 2 (press enter)
3. reboot
this will install all apps to SD and you can also move apps to SD by going to settings>applications>select whatever app and move to SD
only issue is that widgets and system apps should remain in the internal and sometimes it takes a while for the apps to show up after reboot, which is why the best thing is for the app creator to implement the SD move
thanks for the helpful reply. so how do i undo the partition to the stock? also, where do the apps gets stored on sd card?

The apps are stored on the ext partition which you can't mount on Windows. Not easily anyway. The easiest way is to boot into Linux. If you don't have a distro installed, download Ubuntu and boot off the Live CD. Pop in your SD card [using an adapter, you can't do it via USB with this method], open GParted, unmount all partitions, delete the swap and ext partitions, and resize the FAT32 partition to take up the whole card. There is some chance of data corruption during resizing so make sure you back up the card. The apps will be deleted obviously so make sure you back them up with Titanium Backup or whatever app you use. Finally put the card back in your phone, force Froyo apps to SD as jblazea50 described above and restore apps with your backup utility.
Hello Guys
I would like to know that if my SD Card 16GB has partition into 2 primary drive - FAT32, EXT3; and my android system is running on FAT32 partition, can I run the Link2SD to put all apps into EXT3 partition?
I try it and it shows the manual of the mounting partition. However, it shows the error message of mounting /dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed. I would like to use it even it is in SD version of Android so that I can minimize the usage of internal ROM. I use the traditional App2SD and the memory is gradually reduced when I install new apps.
Thanks

SD Android uses no ROM. The applications are stored on what is read by the system as 'internal storage' but is actually a data.img file which is normally 1gb, therefore you already have 1gb of your SD card dedicated to storage of apps. I don't know if you still would like A2SD despite this, but I thought this would probably influence your decision.

Thanks for your reply. When downloading apps, Android will treat it storage at the internal storage, that is, the memory reduces very fast. Using App2SD will help to show higher memory storage, which is similar to NAndroid. However, the memory is still lowered as it seems to move the apps only to outside, keeping data internally. Therefore, it can download up to 60-70 apps, but it is impossible to store like 200apps. Link2SD could solve it, but I cannot link to EXT3 after using it. Any suggestion on it?
Hi,
I wonder if someone can help me, I've got WP7.5 install as a NAND installation, with Android 4.0.4 as a SD installation. Both work brilliantly, although I do have some slight problems.
Android won't detect an SD card installed, so I can't use some apps, that require an SD card to be present.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this, surely I'm not the only person in this position.
Cheers
I'm guessing it's because your SD has been formatted specially by WP, and Android can't read this. Your FAT32 partition is probably too small for anything to be stored in it.
The Fat32 partition is 1.6Gb.
Is it worth making that bigger, or creating another FAT32 partition?
Cheers
Hmm, I'd guess that you wouldn't have any more than 200-300MB free on your SD as read by SD Android then. I don't know how much an SD Android build takes up but the data.img is at least 1GB of that. As for increasing the partiton/creating a new one, I don't actually think that's possible without losing your data is it?
Hi,
Thanks for your help.
I'm not too fussed about losing anything...
Here is what I have just tried without any success.
I have a 8Gb card partitioned like this.
1.*Gb
Primary, FAT32, (Android SD install)
2Gb
Primary, FAT32, (My hope would be that Android would see this as the SD card)
4Gb Other (WP 7 partition)
No luck unfortunately, any ideas?
Cheers
Are you sure you're using an 'unlockable' WP7.x ROM? If so, try formatting the storage card to normal and flash a Android build, see if it utilises the memory card like normal, if it does, then I would say that you're doing something wrong when setting it up.
Just double check each step of a tutorial (example: this one) twice and hopefully you'll only have to flash one more time.
Why do you have 2 fat 32 partitions ?...just use one fat 32 partition..in regular sd android....data image is used as internal memory and fat 32 part as sd card
I believe your second partition is not being recognised...make only one fat 32 partition you don't need two
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk 2
I have pationed my sd card into 1 gb ext4 patition now I am using h9....now it shows only 6gb memory card....and my internal memory ia same...and the remaining 1gb is not found...hp to make that 1gb as my internal....
You need to use Link2sd & mount the partition then you can link apps
If link2sd doesn't give you the option to mount the ext partition you created it wrong
You can create your partition in cwm under the partitioning section - note that it will format your sd card so backup first to pc
Also note that your internal storage will not increase - this is a fixed hard drive and unless you magically fit a bigger one it will always be the same
What you are doing is creating virtual storage space on your sd card that acts like internal storage
The advantage is you can install more apps
The disadvantage is the more apps you link the more laggy the phone will get

By either formatting the sd card with your phone or creating a new partition in cwm (this will delete everything on sd card so backup first to pc)
Or
Use mini tool on pc to format the partition & then merge the partitions or delete all partitions & create a new one
Hello
I have rooted J5 (2015) with stock marshmallow 6.0.1 (rom installed manually via odin) and i want to use link2sd app. I make 2 partitions FAT32 and ext2 both are primary and FAT32 is a first partition. But link 2 sd dont see second partition. When i make script via link2sd i get message No such file or directory. I try format card and use ext 2 ext3 ext4 formats always that same error. I think that maybye sd card is broken (i have old 2gb card) it can be it?
You need to separate partitions on your SD card, you can do this either by PC (if you have microsd slot) or using an app, i don't remember the name. Those are the ways to make sd card second partition for cache and etc.
But doing that you will just slow your phone down
What do you mean separate? I have two partitions fat32 and ext2
I buy new sd card and wipe my phone, still get error no such file or directory. Can anybody help?
ok i sovle my problem by using other app. Apps2SD create aplications link with sd card
