Stock N1 just stopped ringing (playing the ringtone). While the phone is receiving a call...pressing the volume button doesn't do anything. When in settings to change the ring volume, it works (plays the ringtone). I've rebooted twice...pulled the battery...and still no ringtone (even changed ringtones). Notification ringtones work...it's just the call ringtone.
Hoping to not Reset the phone. Any Ideas? (haven't installed any new apps for weeks)
Are you sure the volume for the ringer is up? It is possible for the ringer and notification volumes to be separately set.
I was using a song in my music library as my ringtone but i didnt change the ringtone back to a default when i removed all of my songs for Google's Online Music app. Now, even when I choose another ringtone or notification sound and set the ringer to full volume, nothing plays when i get a notification or a phone call. I tried to update my rom (CM 7.0.0 to CM 7.0.3) and put the same old song back on but neither of those worked. I also attempted to get another ringtone app (Zedge) but that still didnt work. This is causing me serious problems and the only way I can tell if someone calls me is if i have my vibrate on, and that still isnt that helpful. Has anyone had this problem and/or fixed it without a factory reset?
I've been happily sideloading apps on my rooted Fire for a few days now and didn't realized it but at some point my notification sounds became muted. The speaker icon is on the top right, showing muted but all music and video plays with no issue. If I go to the volume control, it shows all the way up. If I go to notifications, it shows all the way off. I turn it up, click on different notification sounds as if I'm going to choose it and nothing. Icon is still muted on the status bar.
I went to the directory that holds all of those sounds and I can play them just fine if I click on them. Something is just squirrely with notifications and I have no idea what to do.
Any help?
And no, no clue what I did because I've installed and poked at so much in the past few days it could be anything, I just need a place to troubleshoot. Maybe some file that shows the settings that can be checked/edited/etc.
Thanks!
I did the same thing by installing Widgetlocker, one of the options in there was either ringer notifications or toggle interactions.
I had tried all manners to restore the sound of the notifications but once i changed it back in widgetlocker then all was good in the world.
I have the same problem. I have an icon on the status bar indicating that sounds are off - but I can't find a way to switch them on. The volume is fine - it's just the icon (the speaker with a little "x" next to it) that won't go away.
rhsauer: Do your notification sounds work though?
no - the notification sounds don't work. The volume on the device is fine for watching movies, etc, however.
So I wound up uninstalling everything, resetting to factory defaults via the normal menu, re-rooting and starting over and all sounds are back. I have no idea what the difference is.
Get Volume Control from market and there you can set volumes of everything possible even stuff that is not accessible otherwise.
That solved my problem! Thanks.

Hi, I noticed that on my d802 5.0.2 lollipop notification sounds are very quiet. If I choose one of the notification sounds from Zedge and I set it to notification sounds it gets more quiet than in the app. I can't hear any incoming SMS when my phone is in my pocket. Is there any fix for this ? The way without root would be the best.
Check the notification setting for volume control
Notification sounds are on the highest level.
Try flashing
OnePlus 6T, android 11.1.2, not rooted
At a (very) random interval a notification sound short 'bleep'.
It doesn't show on the notification bar or notification history.
It sounds during calls, during other use, or just when my phone lays untouched on my desk. When charging or not charging.
Sometimes no sound four hours and then several within a few minutes
It's not a sound I configured, but I can't be sure with so many settings.
I know it must be a notification because the "Ring & notification volume' slider controls the volume of the sound.
Any help to help me fix this is much appreciated.
