Hi Xperts,
Have Samsung A8 whose screen was replaced 6 months back. However, the screen was not fit properly (not at level with the metallic case) and I had complained to Samsung Service Centre guys multiple times. Finally fed up of visits, I used the phone for last 3 months as it was. Recently, it has developed a unique issue.
If the screen ( from top right corner) is firmly pushed in the case, it gives black screen or flickering screen with Horizontal colored lines. However, if the screen is not firmly set in the case, it works fine. Service centre guys told me that the screen needs to be replaced by paying Rs 8500 again. Thats ridiculous since they are not accepting that they did a shabby job fixing the screen earlier. Moreover, the screen works fine as long as it is not pushed in the case too hard. Can u suggest what could be the probable issue? Trying to see if I can get this repaired outside SAmsung service centre in Delhi. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Sameer

I guess you mean there are "stuck" or "hot" pixels.
I had same problem.
So i received a replacement from the seller.
Same here, at least with a spot, it is an irregular area with a diameter of about 3mm, it's just brighter, and it's located in the upper left quarter of the display. I only notice it when the background is white, and more evidently when backlight is higher.
Doesn't really bother me tho, and especially is not reason enough to flash back a custom rom and send the device back for warranty waiting who knows how much. Being without it scares me a little since I have nothing else that would do as a decent backup
it's a known issue
search for "blotches" and you'll find a couple of threads about it.
i've seen it on 2 HD2s. i sent the 2nd one back to HTC for warranty repair and they replaced the screen.
My HD2 has started to get these the past few months, call o2uk and they said send the phone back for repair.
I dont want it to go off for a repair as devices like this never come back the same as if it was made in the factory.
I would like a replacement, i dont care if its a refurb.
Could always lose it and claim on the phone insurance lol

i have o2 premium insurance and i have a tiny scratch/crack on the screen from where i dropped it after a car crash , i asked o2 in the shop if it was covered and was told to call up and say i dropped phone and have a small crack, and would be replaced with a brand new phone.
i think i may call and mention the drop and the small crack / scratch and now have parts of the screen that are not coloured correctly lol
I have the same problem. I contacted the online dealer and they told me they would not replace it and I had to contact HTC support. Is this right?
I had this, htc repaired it free in 5 days. Go to htc uk website and call their support line. Was painless -just needed receipt (paypal proof in my case)
Did you get a replacement handset or did they just change the screen?

i have exactly the same issue. does anyone knows if it is a problem strictly of the touchscreen? replacing it will resolve the problem?
thanx in advance
I just picked up an otherwise mint Galaxy S5 off of Swapa. Unfortunately, we found out the screen has some burn-in issues There are a series of 3 faint lines approximately 3/4" inches from both the top and bottom of the screen. Additionally, there is a faint Samsung Galaxy logo in the middle of the screen. I have tried different wallpapers, opened up websites, and looked at white pictures and the images are still there.
Is there an easy fix for this? I saw there are some apps that may help to reduce the burn-in, but it seems to be a mixed bag. Also, I'm concerned that it would affect screen longevity.
The seller has been very responsive and has offered to either 1) take back the phone; 2) discount the phone; 3) take it to the Samsung repair center just down the road from him for warranty repair. Is there any advice how we should proceed?
Out of the 3 choices tell him to take it to the Samsung repair center. That way you should get a new replacement handset.
Sounds like it may have been an ex-display model if the logo is burned onto the screen, I agree with the above ^^ Samsung repair center
Hi there,
A couple of weeks ago, my Note 4 began to act up. Every so often the right hand side of the screen would freeze up and eventually show static.
These pictures aren't mine, but they show the exact issue: http://imgur.com/a/LqoeA
Anyway, I decided to go to my phone carrier (EE) to get it repaired as it was still in warranty. They agreed that this would be covered and sent it to their repair center. The repair center then contacted me and told me that the fault was due to water damage (which is impossible as my Note has never touched water) and sent it back, refusing to fix it. When I got it back, it was in a complete state. They had broken the LCD and Digitizer to the point where the screen wouldn't even turn on anymore, and it was hanging out by the ribbon cables (The home button and flex cables for the soft keys were also extremely loose).
Because of this, I decided that I'd have a go at fixing it myself. I went online and bought a new LCD + Digitizer. I've just fit it and now whilst the screen powers on again, I've come full circle as the static issue still is present.
Is there any more I can do or is there no way of getting this fixed without professional aid? I'm unable to send it in for repairs because the repair center obviously are unwilling to work on it, and even if they were now, I wouldn't trust them as they inflicted even more damage to the phone and sent it back to me in a worse state. I've already sank £100 on a replacement part, so I'm not to keen on paying for repairs either (I could put the money towards a new phone instead).
The help is much appreciated! Thanks!
Hello guys,
I've had the Samsung S7 Edge since august, have always cared for it (i.e. never dropped it, etc.) when all of a sudden, while I was playing Sky Force Reloaded and charging (with fast charge) when I closed the game and turned the screen off, and back on, it was crazy. The image would be flashing white and this flashing changed with the luminosity (when was full luminosity was fine). I also had AOD, and there were no problems there, the screen worked fine. This was until I restarted the phone (though it was a software problem). After the reboot the problem got worse, and I could notice different brightnesses on different parts of the screen, when I could stabilize the image, using full luminosity (and having the setting fixed. As soon as I clicked automatic brightness, It would go mad even with full luminosity).
Having the phone for such a short time, I went to the samsung responsible repair place in my city (there is no official samsung here), because they work with samsung and evaluate the warranty and fix if the defect is on them.
Well, they told me the screen was broken (there was not a single scratch on the outside, which means that only the internal LCD broke somehow), and told me It was misuse.
My question is... How is it possible to break the internal lcd without a fall, without a scratch on the outside and having it to work on some software settings? Because I don't trust this repair shop, or their technicians (they have several bad reviews involving screen defects... they always assume broken screen), and the screen replacement is not really cheap.
Thanks in advance.
I had a similar issue with mine. It was a pink line across the screen from top to bottom. I contacted Samsung via the Samsung+ app and they had me send the phone to them and they replaced the screen free of charge.
Hardware faults can happen at any time, no matter if you drop stuff or not.
Does your screen flash also in Download Mode? AOD display?
Anyway, your responsible repair place is a sh*thole... "misuse" lol.
If you're not rooted Samsung will give you a warranty repair, at least here they'd do it here at my local Samsung repair center.
Hello,
The left side of the screen shows some Missingno type glitching (I've attached some pics)
Does anyone know where this type of problem comes from?
I had the screen replaced and it worked beautifully afterwards for a couple of days...
I also installed system updates.. so I'm wondering; is this a hardware or software issue?
Thanks for your time and interest

Happened to my wife. Needed to be returned and fixed, hardware glitch not software. I am not sure if it was a screen issue or some other hardware.

Did you have the screen replaced because of the screen flashing, or did the flashes start only after you had the screen replaced?
If the problem has been consistent over the course of two different screens, it would point towards a hardware fault on the sending end of the display connector, right where the ribbons leave the motherboard.
If this problem is brand-new, it might just be that the display connector was not fully secured when the new screen was installed.
Mine is doing the exact same thing. Left side goes all grey and static looking.
I took it apart and reseated the screen ribbon connector and at first I thought it made a difference, but now it continues to glitch out. I took it apart a second time and it has the half screen right at boot up. Sometimes it goes away just setting on the desk but seems to come back regularly. Its only the visual part of the screen, the touch points are still all in the same locations. And when I took a screen shot while it was glitching, the screen shot came out normal. So I am hoping its only the screen/digitizer that is going bad.
I am going to buy a new screen and see if that fixes it. Its only $60 on eBay and its pretty simple to take apart. I will post back if it fixes the problem. That way if someone else has the issue they will know.
Moto x style display problem
I have got the similar problems with display and I will return for warranty repair. I will tell you later what happened.
Downgrade to Lollipop , It worked for me.!
...
(This is the tip for everyone)
I replaced the screen and that seems to have fixed it for now. I haven't had much chance to use it since the screen replacement though. I will update in the next week or so and let everyone know how the screen replacement holds up.
The replacement screen only lasted about a week and now the righthand side has glitched out. I am going to take it apart and put it back together but i think its time for a new phone.
These phone are getting cheap and I really like it so I may just get another. Although the lure of a dual sim version is attractive.
