Hi guys,
Two weeks ago I upgraded from B585 to B589. As the battery consumption seemed higher on this B589, I tried to revert to a lower version, with no success.
Anything lower than B585 will result in a bootloop.
So, my question is... what's so special with this B589?
Thx.

I don't think it would be good to update your phoen with it rooted but you could always try and if it messes up you have a community of developers/users here to help you!
---------- Post added at 01:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ----------
You would also likely loose root if it does work. I'm not sure cause I don't use stock. I'm running cloudy g2 3.3 and it runs perfect and fast.
I got my note 4 today and i flashed every rom on the forum almost. But how i flashed it worries me, I always flashed back stock and then installed twrp and then flashed custom rom. and then i repeated until i was done all the roms. Did i hurt anything?
Probably only your Knox counter but other than that it should be fine.

Thanks, So i should not worry about flashing.
Why would you do all that in one day? You can't even test the ROM. I flash different ROMs often.. but damn!
Anyone noticed the new firmware found with FF? The version is NXT-L09C432B580, dated 2017.04.19. None of system update or HiCare early adopters shows it.
How can it used to flash the phone?
Thanks.
I tried to download it for my Huawei Mate 8 L29C185 ...
In firmware finder it's showing L29C185B580 but it didn't work for me ... after the full file download ... 2.2 GB it's say this

Thanks, I might give this a try. Got a glitch with bluetooth since 321. Every reboot, you have to manually turn on bluetooth, and the

Well, no luck there
I downloaded, unzipped, stuck it in the dload folder, rebooted with the up/down volume. It's like it did
with the firmware finder app also, gets to 5% and fails. Sounds like I'll have to wait until the built in
app says it is available...again.
I'll keep the link though, perhaps one day it will work properly.
If it helps, this is the one I downloaded.

Your bootloader is locked, right? I ask it because I wonder if there is an order to install these differents files, and I wonder if it will be easier to install it via TWRP. I looked the content of the small file and I'm not sure what it is.

Maybe we have to install the small file before, it seems to be a patch file. So perhaps we have to install it for the second works.

Could be...Yes, I'm pretty sure the bootloader is locked. There is an option in developer options to allow it to be unlocked, but
it pops up a security warning, so I don't know if it will work or if it will hose something else.
I guess the "official" 580 will hit my phone one of these days soon.

You can see the difference with Huawei extractor in the screenshots below.
These are the files:
DTS.img
MODEMNVM_UPDATE.img
PRODUCT.img
RECOVERY2.img
SYSTEM.img
VENDOR.img
They are missing in OTA file.
"Huawei made changes in the installation process of the firmware. Now the firmware before installation passes the procedure of online checking. If you receive an "authentication failure" when installing the firmware, then at this time it is not possible to install this firmware on this unit, you need to wait. For the most stubborn:We did not find a way to bypass this test yet.. You need to wait until your imei is listed for this firmware, or make it "available to all"

Seems like the only way we'll be updating our phones from b560 before Huawei pushes OTA, is to roll back and upgrade directly to b580, or flash through custom recovery.

This is what i found in network for B580:
Status: Official (beta)
Version: NRD90M
EMUI: 5.0
"Disclaimer: This update is in beta stage which means that it may carry bugs that can have an impact on the usability of the device. Moreover, since this is a multifile update, you may encounter errors if you try installing this with the stock recovery."

But in middle east version typed official and not beta and may b580 is resolved many bugs.
Lets say for example you use one of the existing tutorials to unlock the bootloader and root a Nokia 5 running on Nougat, is it possible to then upgrade to Oreo (Or Pie when it rolls out) while keeping the root/unlock? Usually phones don't accept updates when they detect they've been rooted, or the update will remove the root, something like that.
Note that I don't own this phone, I just like to know things before I get mine.

What are you saying? You CAN upgrade from 7 to 8 as long as your bootloader is unlocked and you're using stock recovery. However you will have to root again after upgrading, since the upgrade process will overwrite your root
Oh and sometimes you may brick your phone and have to flash ost

When Pie rolls out you wait for the new method of rooting the phone.
New update has dropped. Version P-MR2-RC001-RZR-190914.3123 and brings the phone up to September 5th for security updates.
I have the update pending but I don't want to download just yet to ensure compatibility with Arter97's kernel. If the WiFi is really better then I might jump on regardless because that's my primary issue at this point. Can anyone confirm either the kernel works or the WiFi is noticably better?

Compatibility hasn't been confirmed yet, but previous discussions with someone who had an AT&T version that was on a July update had issues with arter97's kernel on September's update. The kernel seemed to be incompatible as it failed to boot and also switched the phone back to the old slot afterwards.

It seems to be the case as the images are rather small. I'm not sure what to do now that I'm on Havoc OS GSI. Is there a possible way to patch stuffs other than system (such as vendor)?
I'm yet to make a backup as the current app I use for backup (Migrate) doesn't appear to work properly on this phone (while it worked on my previous one, Xperia XZ Premium), and that Titanium Backup hasn't been updated to be compatible with new features (such as split apks) so some backups can no longer work properly after restoring.
I also need to know if there were any improvements regarding Bluetooth compatibility. Currently I cannot use my bluetooth headset on GSI (only phone calls work), even with a modded overlay (with values changed to undo Razer's crippling of certain features such as aptX).
EDIT: I guess it's not that easy as the payloads are most likely block-based OTAs. These updates do not tolerate any changes on the partitions unlike file-based OTAs that we used to have. We'll have to wait for full factory images to come out and make a list of what we really need to flash from stock updates...
Any issues with the update etc please lmk everyone!
Enjoy it!

Wish I knew!
But I can say to them that people are wanting the factory images if no major issues are present I can't see why it wont be up there but that's me.
I tried updating but it gives me an error everytime.
(Using the Deodoxed version)
Can someone help me with this ?
So trying to game plan here. Logic tells me to flash boot, vendor, and system from factory image of current build. Then let the system update itself. Then flash arter kernel, then go into twrp and flash latest magisk zip to get root.
Is this update still Android 9 or is this taking us to android 10?

This is the standard OTA that needs stock recovery & the update is still Android Pie/9
Also, for anyone that's curious, it doesn't seem to fix any of the speaker phone/call quality issues currently present in Android Pie/9 (but weren't present in Oreo). I can't speak to Wi-fi performance improvements, or other fixes mentioned in the update notice, but I am very thankful that Razer has released this OTA with security patches through September of 2019 ? ?. Thank you Razer!
Wifi
The WiFi is fixed for wifi calling I believe if you put this phone into airplane mode and trying wifi calls it would glitch the wifi out before now seems to work
I think I'll wait to install it until someone else who is more educated in this tests it and makes a guide for it to put stock back on and whatever we need to do to make Arter 97 kernel work with it.
Any fixes to the camera apk?

i reflashed the stock firmware and ran the update to get the latest security update. I also have arter97 r11 kernel installed and magisk and have it rooted with no problems. Google Pay works as well as I was able to get it to pass the CTC scan.
