I flashed about 35 times on my note 4. Am i screwed? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my note 4 today and i flashed every rom on the forum almost. But how i flashed it worries me, I always flashed back stock and then installed twrp and then flashed custom rom. and then i repeated until i was done all the roms. Did i hurt anything?

Probably only your Knox counter but other than that it should be fine.

Nothing at all...your phone should be more than fine

I have a 2013 Nexus 7 I flashed over I would say 80x and nothing works perfect and still has flawless battery life

Thanks, So i should not worry about flashing.

Why would you do all that in one day? You can't even test the ROM. I flash different ROMs often.. but damn!

Freeze or disable MotorolaOTA.
A quick search would've given you the same answer...

:fingers-crossed:......
Also you can put it on Airplane mode to stop the download so you can root or freeze the 3c_ota.apk if you had just went back to stock.

4.4.4

my friend updated his phone yesterday.what surprised me that his phone can't be rooted by kingroot after updating.who can tell message why?
Because you should never update before the previous exploit is verified to be working with the new update. I doubt you will see root with the new update for awhile. And there is already a 4.4.4 thread which is where this post should be.
Because he took the OTA!! Rule # 1 of root ... NEVER EVER take OTA updates!! They, more often than not, patch previous exploits that allowed the awesome developers here achieve root in the first place.

And I'm pretty sure kingo hasn't worked in some time ... TowelRoot is (was?) the latest successful root method. However, its already been reported that it's not working with this latest update. It will now be a waiting game to see when/IF it will work again

I don't think it would be good to update your phoen with it rooted but you could always try and if it messes up you have a community of developers/users here to help you!

You would also likely loose root if it does work. I'm not sure cause I don't use stock. I'm running cloudy g2 3.3 and it runs perfect and fast.

Using a refurbished American AT&T S7 edge in the UK

Hi everyone,
I have just bought a refurbished S7 edge from eBay and it turns out it is an American AT&T handset. It is unlocked and works with my GiffGaff Sim card but I have a few questions I'm hoping y'all could help me with (joke - I'm not American!)
The phone is full of AT&T bloatware and other stuff, can I get rid of it so that I have a clean, unaffiliated phone? I would rather not root it if possible as I'm not really that tech savvy.
Certain features, such as WiFi calling, don't work as they require a live AT&T account, which I don't have. Can I bypass this?
The other thing I'm worried about is whether or not I'll be able to receive any OTA updates? It feels a bit like I'm in limbo with this phone!
Thanks.
There's a guide here to install g935u firmware. I did it and it has zero bloatware. Also I'm in Ireland and the at&t firmware wasn't getting 4g in a lot of places, but with the u firmware I get it everywhere I would with a European handset.

Great, hopefully all is not lost. Thanks for your help.
G935U firmware works fine outside USA, except it seems doesnt have Wifi Call.
I am using an unlocked S7Edge AT&T variant with 935U firmware in Hong Kong for three months
everything works fine.
That's interesting to know, thanks. What about OTA updates, can you receive them?

Ota updates work fine. Don't really need WiFi calling. Well I don't use it anyway. Phone runs 20 times faster. At&t bloatware really slows phone down.

Is it possible to upgrade after unlocking/rooting?

Lets say for example you use one of the existing tutorials to unlock the bootloader and root a Nokia 5 running on Nougat, is it possible to then upgrade to Oreo (Or Pie when it rolls out) while keeping the root/unlock? Usually phones don't accept updates when they detect they've been rooted, or the update will remove the root, something like that.
Note that I don't own this phone, I just like to know things before I get mine.
You can root with android 8 but can't upgrade from 7 to 8
Check my tut. https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-5/how-to/root-nokia-5-android-8-1-t3831303 for rooting android 8

Also notice that i you OTA to 8 whẹn having twrp installed, you will get stuck in recovery

What happens if the Pie update rolls out and I update? Will it brick my phone? And if it does, how can I update my phone?

What are you saying? You CAN upgrade from 7 to 8 as long as your bootloader is unlocked and you're using stock recovery. However you will have to root again after upgrading, since the upgrade process will overwrite your root
Oh and sometimes you may brick your phone and have to flash ost

When Pie rolls out you wait for the new method of rooting the phone.
