simple question, kinda noobish but help a dude out. if i root while running 4.1, will i be able to upgrade to 4.1.1 without loosing my root? thanks in advance
Probably. Just root again afterwards.
You can use OTA Rootkeeper by Supercurio and just restore Root afterwards.

Hi! I got Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Model SM-N910C). Im intrested in rooting my phone.
Before I do that, I wanted to know 1 thing:
If I root my Note 4, would I be able to upgrade it to andriod 5 when its realsed? From what I understood, I will have to delete all of my things in order to update (if i root it).
And if im still able to update it after I root it, Would i be able to do it from my device? (Without connecting it to a computer)
And one last thing: If all of what i asked above is possible, when I update to Andriod 5, my device would stilll be rooted? or will i have to do it again?
Im sorry for my ignorance, Im new with all the andriod stuff
And sorry for my poor english, its not my native language. If you didnt understood something that i asked please tell me and I will try to explain it better.
Yes you can upgrade
You will not be able to update through device, only computer
Android 5.0 is not rootable till now,if it is available you have to re root

Thank you for your answer!
But you didn't answer one of my questions, if I root it, do I have to format it before I update to andriod 5? (By format it I mean deleting everything in my phone except the operation system ( in this case it's andriod 4.4.4)
Bump please answer

No you don't need to format it, but the apps that require root to work will became a bloatware that you can't use until you root it again..

It most likely you need a PC to update (using Odin), because once you have rooted, the OTA update update won't work anymore.

The short answer:
Knox is a security environment developed for Samsung's Android devices.
Afaik, you won't lose any data.
if you dont know what it is dont root until you do. once you root you cannot unroot even if you flash a stock rom. your phone is permanently rooted and the efuse is blown.

Knox is a flag in your device that Samsung use to track your warranty status.
If you root or install custom rom or custom kernel, you MAY trip the Knox flag. That way Samsung MAY refuse warranty for your device.
You can check the Knox flag by booting into the Download mode (aka Odin mode).
Or the easier way is using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, look for Knox Warranty Void.
But I won't lose any data, right?

Hello, did any of you solve anything? I have exactly the same problem. In addition, I have no idea how to check the bootloader status. I really want to get a custom ROM, such as CM. Is there any way? I do have ROOT. I found something in this thread, but I'm not even a little bit smarter after reading that. (Sorry, I can't post links, as I'm new on XDA and it doesn't let me. Please Google "Is there any way to simply check the current status of the bootloader (locked or unlocked)? " - sorry, can't think of another way, it will take you there. THANKS!

Model Number?
Android Version?
To Find It Just Go To Settings> More> About Phone. Or Power Off Your Phone And Switch On Your Phone Into Download Mode By Pressing Home+Volume+Power Keys At The Same Time.
I can't seem to find a straight answer to my question since most of the info for the S4 is 2 or 3 years old now.
So I have a completely stock ATT i337 running Android 5.0.1 with the I337UCUGOK2 bootloader. My soft keys aren't working, so I would like to install a different ROM to try to fix. I understand I need to install CWM or TWRP first. So my question is this... Is my bootloader locked and I need to root my phone first before I can install either recovery? If so, what method do I need to follow for my version of Android?
I understand that with time there are improvements. Some stuff I've read makes it sound like there is a lot of automation in installing custom recoveries, and maybe I don't need to root first because they root for me.
Thanks.

Hello. I'm new to Android and all of this rooting and stuff but I want to try out flashing a custom ROM but I don't know how. Do you need to be rooted? I know about custom recoveries and stuff but I need to know exactly how.
EDIT: My model number is WAS-LO3T
My build number is WAS-LO3TC654B198
EDIT 2: I watched the One Click Root video. Is it safe? Is kingroot safe?

How to root link below (includes unlocking the bootloader). Follow the steps very carefully as this is your first time rooting. I am not to blame nor anyone here on xda if you end up with a bricked phone. If you use android pay this will no longer work, some bank apps will not work either FYI due to root.
At present there is only one custom rom available however this is not specifically made for our device but for the p8 lite. When I flashed it about a month ago there are some bugs still like camera not working. Hopefully some talented people will buy our device and develope a custom rom for us.
