Just last night my 6P wasn't receiving any text messages. I can sent them and people receive them, I can make and receive phone calls. But can't receive a single text.
I tried factory resetting and still nothing.
Anyone have an idea?

Check/change your Preferred Network Type by dialing *#*#4636#*#*
Network settings reset.
Check / correct your APN against the recommended settings for AT&T. You can find the correct settings everywhere.
Delete the APN and create a new one.
Go to AT&T and have them replace the SIM (free).

Thanks! But I've tried all that.
Last night I took it into a best buy. They couldn't figure it out either. Another employee with AT&T slipped in his Sim card and he could send and receive texts.
So then we grabbed a new Sim and tied my number to it, still not receiving texts.
Working with AT&T over the phone to try and figure this out.

I would try your SIM in another phone. If the issue follows your SIM, then it is your AT&T account that has the issue.

This started yesterday. I cannot send nor receive any text messages. I have tried shutdown, pulled battery, pulled sim card, and switch to airplane mode & back...
any suggestions?
TIA
My friend's SGS3 didn't send or receive texts after he got it. Call AT&T and make sure everything's set up right. He said it happened with his phone before that, too.
You may not have the proper LTE data plan active on the line. Just give AT&T a call.

This happened to me too....the BB employee didnt set me up on LTE data plan, just swapped over my 3g plan. Now that we got that all squared away everything is fine but I cant receive MMS messgs. They said theres a problem with the network and opened a case, which should be resolved by the 5th.

Just bought verizon galaxy S 5. Changed SIM to AT&T from straight talk. First of all was that a mistake? When ever i leave a wi-fi area the phone goes to emergency calls only. Email and text stops as well. Can't get voice mail to work anywhere
Would appreciate any help.
Thank you
Just a thought, go to settings /more networks and make sure you have the correct network checked
New to verizon galaxy s 5
The network was correct . Wondering if im in a bad area. My Iphone 4 works fine. Might be AT&T

Wait... you put an AT&T sim in your phone? This is a Verizon forum. If I misunderstood, please tell me.
Just to be clear because you didn't state it in your post, you must unlock your phone prior to using a non-Verizon SIM. You can sometimes get these unlock codes from Verizon but you can also buy them online. I've used GSMLiberty.net with success before. After that, you should be able to pop in your SIM from the new carrier and begin using it right away. In some cases, you may need to manually add the correct APN for your carrier. Find these settings under Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Access point names. Click the little plus icon in the top right and manually enter AT&T's APN information. You may need to Google that as I don't know AT&T's APN info.
I use my Verizon S5 on T-Mobile's networks with absolutely no issues, I assume it would be a similar experience for AT&T as well. For me, I put my T-Mobile SIM card in and could make calls and receive texts, but mobile data and MMS was not working properly until I manually added the correct APN information. After that, MMS, 4G LTE data and everything is working flawlessly.
You do not need an unlock code for a LTE Verizon phone. These phones are already unlocked. One must set the correct APN.
Do not buy an unlock code!
I have used my Verizon S5 with att and t-mobile.
Good luck.

thank you all
Thank you for your posts. Most of the phone works. When I leave a wi-fi area my phone goes to emergency calls only. When I go back to a wi-fi area the normal call service works again. I'm new to verizon and samsung. Wanted to use straight talk because i didn't feel like paying a fortune for service. I'll get it figured out some way.
Thank you again

did you reflash the Stock Rom?
You should give it a try if you didnt.(does not void warranty)
Contact google, they will probably send you a replacement if you dont want to mess with it that much.
Yes,data works but calls don't
I'm going to suggest a longshot here. It seems that you've gotten some good suggestions so far, so I want to throw this idea out there.
Have you "provisioned" your phone lately & updated the PRL? Meaning, have you told the phone to connect to your cellular carrier, then the carrier then tells your phone what services you are paying for & are supposed to have & what cellular towers you can use? Doing just this usually fixes all sorts of problems.
Go to Settings (the little gear icon), then More (in the Wireless & Networks). Cellular Networks, Carrier Settings. Tap on Update device config. Let it talk to the network. Tap on OK. After that, Update the PRL. Let it do it's thing. Tap on OK.
No reboot is necessary. It should be making calls, receiving calls & data should all be working.
Also, I keep the Preferred network type to global, although my carrier is CDMA & I'm in the US.
Hi dear , can't find carrier setting , I am search in the all my phone can't find it

Last time something like that happened to me was, when my old iPhone 6 had a blacklisted IMEI number. I could use all my data with the phone but not text or call anyone. Can you text people through SMS?

Really don't know either then. You said that you tried to change your preferred Network from LTE to 2g/3g but you can't? Are you always connected to LTE then? As far as i know you can't call on LTE.
my phone is also can not call and receive calls, text and 4G are still useful. It just stay in 4g and can not change to 2/3g.Hope someone can help us.
I received a new LS977 for use on the Sprint network. Upon receiving it I contacted sprint to activate and they instructed me to use my sim from my Nexus 5x. Well I got voice but no data because of the wrong sim. So they sent me a new sim. In the intern I unlocked and flashed twrp, flashed the stock rom. Then wiped then flashed LineageOS and attempted to activate when I received the sim. Upon install I was not getting anything, just roaming indicator. I played with the cellular settings but update profile crashes. So I flashed a stock rom.
Upon booting into a stock rom. Hands free activation fail with network error even on WiFi. Still shows roaming in the indicator. I then attempted to follow these instructions:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/manual-program-sprint-ls997-v20-t3557676
Still nothing suck in roaming, but calls work but have no APN's in the cell networks settings. Update profile fails with network error.
Anyone with experience with these phones on Sprint please help me out. Thanks

Thanks it was my fault that I changed the CDMA subscription setting. It must be on RUIM/SIM for Sprint

also with my experience with most aosp roms, it may show no service when not in calls, if you toggle from cdma/lte auto prl to global then back to cdma/lte it resolves the phantom bars until reboot.
sounds like you got it resolved tho! good deal
I'm on the Canadian carrier Koodo, I'm having an issue with editing APN settings on any OS update passed 9.0.5. The settings are greyed out. It's not a carrier issue I don't think as this only seems to happen when I install an OS over 9.0.5. It definitely happens on 9.0.6, and I have yet to try on 9.0.7. Is anyone else having this issue?
Did you ever figure this out? I'm having a similar issue with not being able to change apn settings.
Yep. I just add a new apn. You can't edit the existing ones but you can create new ones.
I never figured it out. APN settings are still greyed out on new 9.0.10 update. I can't add a new APN either
Grayed for for me also, even if I try to create a new one. In fact I can't even make a new one because I'm unable to edit the name field. Quite disappointing because I'm currently unable to receive texts
Grayed out apn here as well
Can't find a fix anywhere

Fixed mine.
First off I'm on straight talk
When I set the phone up originally I used the Verizon sim cuz the coverage map looked better than the other networks. Well no mms, texts, or web, grayed out apn. Messed with it for 2 days before saying screw it and going out and getting another sim kit. Got home set up the T-Mobile SIM and boom! Phone works perfectly. My guess is it has something to do with the cdma network and the phone not wanting to accept it...just for testing purposes I put my friends actual Verizon sim in and it did the same thing then the wife's att sim in and everything worked just fine. Op6t doesn't like cdma networks
