Dim wallpaper overlay. - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, idk if you can spot the difference but, whenever I set a wallpaper, it gets dimmed down like an overlay or a filter is applied, this irritates me.
Tried using 3rd party LWP apps, problem solved but the battery consumption is a problem :|
Hope you can help me

Is it Nova Launcher? I remember that there was an option to enable shadow on the top of the screen for bright wallpapers...

It's Google Now launcher, but the problem is that this overlay appears on every launcher I've tried, even the stock EMUI one.

Live Wallpaper issue?

Is anyone else facing a problem with the star field live wallpaper where you are searching through the Google widget and the keyboard disappears and the background is suddenly the default?
I wasn't able to recreate this.

Sounds like you're using a task manager and it is ending apps. Some of the live wallpapers run a separate process that needs to be excluded from autoending. If the live wallpaper process ends, it reverts you wallpaper to the default Nexus wallpaper as you noticed.
I've had to do this with Advanced Task Manager.
I've had this issue come up before. Also, I think the Starfield wallpaper was killing my battery (maybe just paranoid about the app).
I loved the app, especially after its most recent update, but I've since reverted to a "dead" wallpaper since I feel like the Live's do take up too much RAM/Battery life for what they're worth.
Although seeing people's faces when we would turn up the warp drive on starfield is fun
No task manager, but it does seem like the process is ending is there a way to lock it in memory?
Do you run a lot of Widgets? They can definitely cause other apps to close.b

Transparent Buttons on 3rd Party Launchers?

I tried searching for this but couldn't find it so sorry if it's a repeat. The status bar and navigation buttons are transparent when at the stock home screen. Is there any way at the moment to keep this going when using 3rd party launchers such as Apex? I understand it's the phone reading it as having an app open, therefor disabling of transparency, but I'd love to have that feature on the home screen of other launchers.
I noticed that the status bar only seemed to be transparent when an LG bg is used. Use a picture, and it is shaded. Also seems related somehow to the color of the buttons, but have not figured it out yet.
I am an Apex fan, but I think I will wait a bit before trying it.
Depends on where you get backgrounds

I believe it depends on where you get the images, if you get them from an app. I was using an app called Backgrounds HD and every time I applied one, it wouldn't scale it properly and the status bar and nav buttons would be black. If I uninstalled the app and used one called Picspeed, they worked just fine with transparency on the stock launcher.

There is dark shadows over top and bottom of the screen invariably present in all ROMs including stock. How can I fix this ?

Go to the Theme section of settings, go to search and locate theme called Material Black
There is a cost for it(can't remember I bought it way back with my S7)
Couple of screen shots
There should be a way to activate System UI Tuner i thought that should have an option for enabling a night mode .... but I can't seem to enable it by long pressing the settings gear icon in quick settings on my S8.

I use Nova launcher and it works fine with the theme
The Theme updates only a few items, mainly the notification menu, the main settings menu and messaging app
For system tuner -I haven't tried on the S8, but it worked for my G6
This app worked on my G6
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
You'll need to issue a couple of ADB commands but nothing hard.
It beats me with the prevalence of OLED screens now that google themselves or indeed Samsung don't offer a dark mode system wide as default considering the positive benefits to battery life, Google in particular seem to be making everything as white as they possibly can.
Yeah go to the theme store and search black. Should get a nice choice of blacked out themes to choice from(including a lot of free ones). My entire interface is black now. I use nova launcher with transparent app drawer and no icons on my home screen. I have the old school nexus live wallpaper with the background blacked. Transitions are seamless fading in and out of the abyss.

I have the Google Keep Dark Mode, but the widget is still light. Any ideas?

Hi all,
I got the server side push and my Google Keep app is dark, but the widget is still light.
I'm currently using the Material Black Samsung theme. I changed the theme to default and the widget did change, but the text was illegible (black on black)
Any ideas how to change the widget to dark while still keeping my material dark theme? (or using a similarly dark theme for the UI.
I also use Nova Launcher, if that matters.
Thanks

This sounds related to my problem. It seems the widgets are now tied to the night mode of the phone. I have night mode on my phone turned on and my Google search and calendar widgets are now dark.
This just started happening with one of the latest updates and I hate it!

It seems like you can't enable dark mode if you're using a theme, though...
