Guys in the stock rom, we have no double tap to sleep option, any way we can put it in because the power buttons look of poor build quality??

Seems that Google isn't your friend? https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/4-3-easy-lock-double-tap-status-bar-nav-t3222024
There are multiple ways, also with fp sensor etc. It depends what you want.

I'm really missing the tap-to-wake from some of my previous phones and I know it's possible on the stock firmware for the S7 Edge.
There are a lot of proximity-based tap-to-wake mods but these are not the same as tap-to-wake.
Now that the snapdragon version is able to be rooted, I'm wondering if any ROMs or Xposed tweaks exist to add this feature?
Potentially stupid question, but is there something wrong with just using the physical home key - that's on the front of the phone?
It's just a preference. The home button works just fine (and is required for finger-print unlock) but double-tap to wake is really convenient for me when using a trusted device, etc.
Nova Launcher has Tap to unlock/wake in it's "Gestures" settings
Did you mean tap to lock? I didn't think it could tap to wake.

Doh!!! My bad. You are right it is tap to lock not unlock.
Apologies
Is it possible to double tap the device's screen when it's off for the ambient display?
The pick up gesture doesn't always work, and I would rather have it be a action I can do to make it ALWAYS work.
Thanks in advance.
My understanding is that double tap to wake is a hardware requirement (that the 6p doesn't meet). But if you use your first to 'tap it' hard enough you should trigger the gyroscope to wake it

Nexus 6p has double tap to wake feature build in but you have to have root go activate it. I use it all the time and always works so I think it's not a hardware feature, someone just has to port it over or something

I'm using it too, but I did think it would be great if it worked like double-tap-to-ambient-display. That is, doesn't wake it fully just do the same like when lifting it. But didn't have the time to look through the kernel source yet.

Yep that would be great, I hope someone figures it out if it's possible to do
You can get tap to wake with a custom kernel like the one I'm using on my stock rooted N6p. Try EX Kernel it's awesome!

But that wakes the phone fully, not in ambient mode.
I would like the ability to turn on screen saver on double tap or to have the ambient display on all the time. I like how my Wife's S7 shows the clock all the time.
Just slide it a little on the table it will turn on. Mine always does that... sometimes piss me off...lol
Hi all,
I got my phone yesterday and moved from my OnePlus One to this new and awesome phone.
In my 1+1 while pressing the GPS (location) option in the notification bar its open a section where you can choose between the different GPS modes (off, device only, battery saving and high accuracy). While in this phone when you press the GPS icon its only turning on and off without any option changing the mode (I have to long press in order to get the settings and then change the mode.)
There is any way to make it the same as my 1+1? I'm gonna root my phone in a few days if it matters.
Thanks!
This option is in los, not in oos. Your oneplus one is on oos?
Long press the location toggle in the pulldown and you can change the GPS/location options you seek

I know that you can long press and get to the settings and change it. I'm looking for the faster way to change between battery saving and high accuracy.

So you have to switch Lineage, if you want that feature

Use ambi turner app with wave gesture. Much more convenient than double tap on screen [emoji846]

I didn't notice any increased usage of battery.
Any other options? because i want tap the phone an wake up.
I have Nova Launcher, maybe this app can help?
When we will have sources and custom kernels or roms, this feature will be possible.
Right now, no way Jose
No, Nova Launcher don't have any options for that.
I hope that the kernel will be released soon... The double tap wakeup is on my wishlist as well!
" Gravity screen " is another app that you can use.
Regards
I have disabled always on display and my d2tw does not work instantly like it did on my 5t. It stuck on the screen lock sometimes even when i press power button and come to life after few tries. D2tw is not working on every try. It misses often. Any body facing that, any of it?
I disabled double tap and enabled single tap to wake. So fare I did not have any issues waking up the phone.

It's working fine... With this option.
But single tap enables only Ambient Display and you can't use face unlock right?
I only use fingerprint, which works after a single tap. Sorry.

Actually that does work, my double tap also doesn't work all the time. If you tab one time at the fingerprint area it will wake.
single tap can be activated under display/active display (inactivity display?) or however it is named in the English version
