Hey I have a Note 4 (Snapdragon) for Verizon coming in later this week and I have been searching around at the roms and honestly, there are so many of them that I am not exactly sure which ones I want to start to look at. If yall could give me some recommendations I would really appreciate it.
My most important feature is stability and having normal phone functions. I don't want a rom that has problem sending picture messages or is on roaming or anything like that.
I'd like a newest Note experience I can get. Now whether that is a Note 7 port, I am not sure. Obviously Android 7.1.1 would be nice, but stability and functionality are more important to me than being on the cutting edge.
Thanks for any help.

Hey guys.
There is a very good chance I will be getting a note 3 this week. Im a pretty avid android user, currently own a Galaxy Nexus, TF700, OUYA, Nook Color, 2x Moto Droids, and a few other android devices. Im fairly familiar with android, and love the OS. The biggest issue I have had is the lack of multitasking, and this is whey I am really excited for the note 3. I typically own an android devices for about 1 hour, and then have it rooted and unlocked. I know I have a tendancy to do this with all my devices, but I dont want to get to far ahead of myself.
So in short, what suggestions do you guys have? What ROMs seem to be running the best? Will I be missing out on the "stock" experience by throwing a ROM on it? Any really cool new features that I might not know? Please, tell me what I have to look forward to.

There are tons of features in my opinion that you can only get on a Galaxy Note device. I have decided to stick with touchwiz for the multiwindow app, the aircommand and the S-planner calendar as well as their weather widget. I use the stylus all the time and that is why I believe the note is so radical different than it's competition.
I also root the phone ASAP and stick with an "improved" touchwiz version since Samsung and Verizon really limit this great device from its full potential.
Here are some good youtube videos that you can watch that show you some of the awesome features that come with the phone.

These videos pretty much give you all the features this phone has. With the new roms coming out you will get even more features.
Good luck and if you liked what I wrote hit the thanks button for me.

Now do the ROMs that are currently available still maintain touchwiz? I really want to keep the multiwindow and s-pen features, just not all the bloatware, and get some of the tweaks that roms offer
Yeah if the rom is touchwiz based you should keep all these great features. I only use touch wiz because I think what is the point of buying a phone with the stylus and if I then ROM it and turn it into an android phone like any other. But that is just my opinion.

Hi,
Could anyone explain why we don't yet have an AOSP ROM for the Note?
I'm looking forward to getting rid of TouchWiz and I'm curious what the challenges are that prevent developers from just compiling the AOSP code to run on the Note 4.
I'm coming from a lot of Nexus devices so I'm not familiar with the roadblocks in developing ROMs for Samsung devices.
You know only samsung can make feature for s pen and other stuff. If this is a normal phone, that would be easy to make a AOSP rom lollipop like my old galaxy tab 10.1 with 3 year old.
But, this is note with only samsung can create stuff for us. So keep calm and wait

I'm not particularly interested in using the S-Pen or all the other Samsung stuff, I just want a replacement for my Nexus 4 that has better specs. All that other stuff can come later or not at all really.
Thanks Batfink33 for the good news, really looking forward to some AOSP or CM goodness
Hello note 3 users. My SGS3 died recently, and Im currently looking for an upgrade. I'm keen on Note 3 (N9005) but I have few questions I need to ask since we all know what kind of a company samsung is.
1. Are there any issues on AOSP roms caused by closed source libraries? Like HWC not working, camera issues etc?
2 .Are there any un-rootable variats of note 3 which I should avoid buying?
Thanks in advance, feel free to add anything i should know.
1. No problem, only the S Note stuff doesn't work (S Note app, Aircommand, ...) but the S Pen works.
2. I think the Verzion version has a locked bootloader so avoid it if you can.
I don't get it, exactly what kind of company Samsung is? Please enlighten us about this, as new users it would be good to know from an already experienced person.

I'd also like to know if there's any reason why note 3 didn't get official CM13 yet? Is it lacking maintainers?
First of all, Knox doesn't mean a thing in Europe. According to European law, if the device is broken and you send it for a warranty repair, the service center can only refuse to repair if they can prove that the defect is caused by the user.
For example, if your headphone jack stops working, they can never link it to the Knox trigger, and they will have to repair your phone.
In Romania for example, official Samsung repair centers know only about the Knox app and what it does, but they never heard of this Knox trigger and they have no clue what it means. I bull**** you not, I personally have a friend that works in a big electronics shop very popular in my country, which collaborates with this service center for Samsung warranty repairs. When he asked them about the Knox trigger, they had no idea whatsoever what that means.
Second of all, AOSP roms don't work very well on this device. Well, they do, they don't actually have any bugs, but all of them suffer from one big problem: the battery life is very, very, very bad compared to the stock touch wiz roms. And there's no drain, if you inspect the battery usage you won't notice any strange behavior, but the battery just decreases very fast.
Also an important thing you have to take into account on AOSP roms, none of them support the s-pen features. People will recommend you all kinds of third party options, and some of them are great, but nothing compares to the stock air command and all of the features it has. It doesn't even get close.
Third, galaxy note 3 is starting to show its age. It's not a bad device by any means, it's still a solid performer, but the new flagships have way better specs and soon a lot of apps will not be as optimized on the note 3 as they will on these newer devices.
Just the OS updates alone aren't very snappy on the note 3. I updated to lollipop and I really miss how well kitkat performed, but it was soooo ugly. If you get used to the lollipop UI and animations, you just can't go back to kitkat.
If you insist on AOSP roms, there's really no point at all in getting the note. If you want a phablet and can't afford the latest and greatest, get the Motorola nexus 6. If you prefer something a bit more portable, consider the nexus 5x.
You can't go wrong with any of the more recent nexus devices, note 3 is already dead update-wise.
The thing is, I'm on a limited budget for a phone. I can spend only ~~250$ which is enough to buy used note 3 ( in a good condition ). With this money I simply cant afford nexus 6. I only care about big amoled screen, 3gigs of ram( since every phone i changed was because of too little ram) and proper aosp support. Thats why I chose note 3. I dont care about spen features since I wont use it too much.

Hi. I am aware there is no such thing as The Best Rom for model X. I have installed ROMS before in other smartphones and I've always admired all the effort put on every rom version by their authors.
I'm just asking for personal opinions / experiencies regarding the latest ROMs released for the Galaxy Note 3 (N9005) to help me decide according to the goals below.
I know there is a lot of information in every ROM thread and I have read many of them, but the particular difference with the Notes against other smartphones is the S-pen functionallity. Many roms don't mention the S-pen so It's a little difficult to tell which ones really suport these features, which are important to me.
In my case, I would be very happy if:
- The ROM has pen support (the reason I have the Galaxy Note).
- I think the ideal ROM would be close to the Note line, say, a port of N7, N8 or so.
- Battery Life is good (and/or settings can be tweaked to have better batery. life than stock Lollipop 5.0, if possible.)
- I really like latest Android versions, the newer the better (Android 9), but I can live with an older one (6, 7, 8...) if it's really more stable, fast, or battery life is better.
I apologize to those that don't like this kind of posts. Just a short story: I owned a Note 3 Neo Duos (N7502) for some years, and I was really frustrated because there is just no development, no way to update it from kitkat. And I tried hard. I think I read every possible thread about the N3n duos here and outside. Many apps stopped working with Kitkat, and most notably MICROSOFT ONENOTE, one of the apps I use the most. Plus the battery was getting bad.
I ended up selling a bunch of used equipment last month and decided to give up and say farewell the N7502 for good so I sold it cheap.
To my surprise, two weeks later I was selling a (very) old notebook and out of nothing a buyer offered me a Galaxy Note 3 N9005 as a trade!
I gladly accepted and now I am very happy. The phone is in excellent condition, including the battery.
Now I see myself in the opposite situation. I had so little information and no ROM options for the N7502 and now I have so much and so many for the N9005 it's being very hard to decide. I've been reading the ROM threads for a week or so and I seem to have more doubts than answers.
So, I would like to count with the opinions or impressions of who has already tried some of the custom ROMS.
Thank you!

Hi guys,
I realize that the main carriers in the US will be dropping the old network protocols in 2022, which means my current N910V will no longer work for voice calls. From what I gather, I'd need to run a stock/stock-based ROM to get VoLTE working, which is a deal breaker for me. I need recent security updates and modern Android releases on my phones. I will miss LineageOS on the Note 4...
With that being said, any thoughts on a replacement device this coming year? I will certainly miss the replaceable battery the most. Is there a device you recommend that has a relatively easy battery to replace? Honestly, the phone is used for light browsing, email, etc. Pictures and movies are frequently taken from it, so a good camera is a must. The memory card is paramount today, but unsure how long this can last. A device with an active development history with root access is also required for this replacement.
I've been spoiled with the N910V for years now. I just don't know where to start replacing it. Your opinions are greatly appreciated!
Does anyone have a suggestion or opinion to share??
