My unofficial Official LineageOS Q&A Thread
Join in on the convo at the LineageOS Axon 7 Hangouts group
For modem, cell signal, GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, VoLTE, dual SIM issues check the Official ZTE Axon 7 forums 1st to see if it's not a baseband/bootloader bug.
Under settings > about > baseband version:
latest baseband is .2.0.c1.9-00090-M8996FAAAANAZM-1 (first one that came with official Nougat release) as of 2/7/2017
...if someone notices a newer one come out lemme know here as I'm trying to keep a good up-to-date list
My only request is not to take this as a gripe session.. Just questions and answers - even off-topic stuff is welcome.
If you want to complain about ZTE - that's fine too as far as I'm concerned.
It works as a daily driver. For the nerdy issue list check here
LineageOS itself also has a JIRA bug tracker here. Actually, that's the most appropriate place to post a LineageOS bug not specific to the Axon 7 as The JIRA site has the most developers' eyes on it.
To watch progress LineageOS Gerrit
To watch stuff not merged here's another link
My thoughts on the topic of audio. I could be wrong but talk here if you want.
For info on Substratum you're mainly dealing with Nougat problems, not LineageOS and definitely not the Axon 7. A better place to on read up on that is the Substratum Google Plus community.

This phone is such a trainwreck even skilled devs are quitting because they have unsolvable obstacles.
Let's hope MiFavor Nougat will be slightly more bearable...

Devs haven't quit. They've made it clear that the thread is closed for now. Still, people are flashing the ROM and people should have a place somewhere to offload the random.
Personally, my main question is if anyone has paired a Bluetooth device from the settings screen. The main post in the download thread says Bluetooth is working so I installed and here I am.
yeah why did he close the thread? thats not cool... I appreciate his hard work but damn.

I agree. Dev post was flooded with no dev questions and discussion. Good you made this post, I think you should talk to unjustified to let him know and so he can point all not dev related discussion here.
As to your issue with Bluetooth I was able to pair my in car minibot this morning with no issues. Only issue I find is that when typing with SwiftKey the screen is kinda sensitive and recognizes swipes when I type too fast from letter to letter
hi. why other thread is closed?
whatever, I've weird bug. when I press vol down button to turn down volume for vibration mode, media sound level decrease, not ringtone one. no media is playing on background.

I just did everything you said and my ringer vibrates when receiving a call and my media still plays. I'm not sure what you mean.

Thanks. I didn't want to bug @Unjustified Dev with the convos here. If he wants to reference this thread I'll take the first unofficial off of the thread title
Thanks for the info on the Bluetooth. I'm going to nuke and pave and see how things turn out. If I can listen to podcasts in my car I get antsy. Plus, I just ordered a Bluetooth water bottle (don't judge me.)
As for touch sensitivity, I'd at least make sure the touch sensitivity in the display options is disabled but, yes, I use Swype keyboard and swiping does feel a little over-sensitive. Actually, it was the first thing I noticed, but I've adjusted so far.

Do your button settings look like this? Mine works as I expect with these settings, though I still don't know if I understand. When media is playing the volume controls affect media volume. When media is not playing the volume controls affect ringer volume.

It doesn't get any more obvious than that.
Thanks!!!! to the the guy who suggested recording another phone vibrating and using the recording as a sound to simulate the vib.
I do want my new advantage to actually vibrate, so I'm going to play with some low frequencies to see if I can get something that resonates with a hunk of hardware somewhere on the unit to produce soemthing tactile.
Other than a headset (I love my PhoneAlarm), does anyone else have any solutions to the lack of vibrating? Heck, my HP5555 vibrates, and it's not even a phone.
Creative ideas I like. Funny, or just stupid ideas are better!
hi
as far as i know, the point is that htc discard the vibrate feature because of the microdrive. and a proof of that is that a guy in a german forum dissasembled his athena and found a mountpoint and connection pins for a standard vibrating motor. like you can see on the pictures he put a motor of another mobile in, and it fits perfectly. the problem you wil have is to enable vibration in the software, and even if you manage that you risk your microdrive.
greets mad

Hot damn, everything's there ready for vibrate, but they didn't include it?!? Idiots. They lost many potential sales with that decision.
While I have much German blood running through my veins I don't speak the language - anything interesting happening on that thread?

Same with me, but I do
In short someone tells that he had to open his Athena to get some metal dust out of the speakers and found the connector.
Then someone else mentions that there already has been a discussion about this and that the vibrate feature wasn't included because of the microdrive.
Possibly interesting is the mentioning of the idea to include a flash disk into the successor of the Athena.
At the end there's some short talk about using a headset with vibrating feature.
Short: Nothing interesting going on.
Thanks for the summary. Any mention if he actually hooked it up and edited the registry to add vibrate to the ring sequence - to see if its still software enabled?

Correct me if i'm wrong...But doesn't some Nokia phone have the vibrate motor built in the battery, couldn't we use similar technology with a few programs and the design of this type battery to get the phone to vibrate? I mean I do have the Jabra BT8010 and it took about a month to get use to that thing vibrating on my ear, and even at times when I sleep it and forget that it's on, it's annoying enough to make me jump up and reach for my pistol...
Anyone know which registry key must be added/editted to enable the vibrate function?

He states that he just put it there to look at it (he probably means for the picture) and is fully aware that there is no software control for it.
Also was he reminded of his old 3210 and is missing the vibrating function in meetings.
Short: No, not even an approach
I would give up the microdrive for the vibrate. That's only thing I miss from my hermes and kaiser. Heck, the microdrive is not real realiable anyway. I have had to re-format it twice in 6 months.

This page describes the settings I know of. I don't know if there is another setting somewhere (or some driver needed) to enable the vibrate. I just know that the vibrate command must be in this key:
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forum...ngtone-vibrate-led-flash-characteristics.html
If you will instal HTC Home on Athena - you will have possibility to get vibrate sign instead of loudspeaker .
Maybe it will be solution
Wow. Nice to have something in English....

Does anyone have any insight what to edit in build.prop to remove the way the volume adjusts when receiving calls, notifications? As we all know its starts very quiet sometimes hearing nothing
Set my alarm this morning almost missed it as it was really low but volume was high in settings
Don't really want to download an app for it, would rather adjust and test it myself

There is a setting for increasing volume for alarms and ringtone. Maybe that is checked. Look in sound settings for that.

Don't think you understood what I'm saying buddy, the volume check was already raised to highest point in the standard settings, I want to increase the incremental volume at root/build/development stage so it starts at 100% as opposed to starting at 15% then raising up slowly to about 70%, this is why short ringtones, notifications & alarms don't get heard
I read somewhere that the way the code is written the speaker goes into sleep mode??? Unsure if there's any truth in it or how it would do so but I'd like to turn it off or modify it and then test it to see if it works.
Any help peeps?

I don't know about a build.prop edit for it, but I know that if you used Xposed you should be able to find a setting to fix it
Everything i can find regarding this says your probably out of luck. Other solutions to this problem don't seem to work (Wanam, Dont Increase Ring )
This was implemented due to the device having front facing speakers, moto didnt want to cause hearing damage if you got a call while pretending to be on a call.

Interesting idea about the reason behind the "feature". Is this just an educated guess, or did the info come from Moto?
(I wouldn't think there are that many people pretending to be on calls, but maybe I'm living in a bubble. I also never would have predicted the selfie phenomenon.)
This file is one of the culprits in all the most recent Moto phones. This built-in feature of ascending ringtone is stupid. Moto calls it a safety feature to attenuate the sounds. Sounds great in theory. Poorly implemented. Wish they would just get rid of it. Seems only Moto phones have this "amazing feature"....*cough büllsh*t cough*
My Nexus6 has same problem. You miss many notifications because the first X.milliseconds is muted/attenuated.
It may also be adding to the crackling noise MANY people are having with ringtones and notifications. Apparently there is a confirmed fix in the next update. However, I'm certain the ascending ringtone will not disappear and will continue to annoy many. A huge oversight IMO

This is right. If you're rooted you could make a backup and remove the file. To be safer you could just put zeros for all the values. That leaves the file intact.

Got me on that one? I've used Dolby Atmos on other devices (Rooted) and it did the same thing? I think what when songs are playing, they'll register higher than half way and you kind of go off of that?
I've never really liked setting up Dolby Atmos, but once it's set up it sounds really good.

did you finally figure out how to keep it from sliding back down I am having the same exact issue.
Hi,
I have the same problem and done an extensive research about it on the web. There are 10 kinds of people: One who can set the equaliser settings like they want (even above the magical 50% mark) and those who experience the problem, that the sliders slide back to 50%. I belong to the latter ones and I'm really pissed off about that, because I bought the Phone because of its famous sound qualities and while holding the finger on the equalizer the sound IS amazing. But I'm not willing to do this every time I play music, so any ideas how to solve this issue?
Greetings,

Basically you don't have to use Atmos if you want good sound quality. Atmos is only made to be used with the speakers. It uses the secondary DAC, which is worse overall.
If you want good sound quality install Viper4ARISE.
P.S. If you don't mind a very high noise floor you can use V4A+Atmos+AK4490 patch together on a custom ROM. It's probably the best way to listen to MP3s even though the noise floor might be somewhat high.

Are you can to realize functions how in ElementalX: sweep2wake, optional logo2menu. And switch of display in double-tap of the screen lock.

Looks great for a first test release, just installed 20 minutes ago but so far i can say its the first 7.x rom for the m7 with working livedisplay. Just setting it up for daily usage atm and i´ll test everything in the next one or two days. A few things i noticed, fast charge is missing. The percentage for battery is a little bit to big.
There is a bug with the button light when you turn the screen off, if you turn the screen off while the bl is on it just goes off for half a second and then on again and never goes off. If you wait for the bl going off and then turn the screen off with Power Button the bl stays off, with every other method to turn the screen off the bl turns on and stays on forever.
I use the kernel with wake controls from you, dont know if this matters.
And as someone mentioned before this bootanimation and wallpaper isnt the nicest one, but i delete every bootanimation on every rom and change wallpaper so its gone
This rom has most modifications build in i´ve ever seen, if you would make showing the ram in recents screen i wouldnt need xposed for nougat anymore haha. Nice work so far.
Edit: After first time pluginto charger the bl turns off 10 seconds after screen is off, still looks a little bit weird but no big battery waste hehe.
Edit 2: Ambient Display doesnt work (wake screen for notifications)
Edit 3: After using the rom a few days with tesla7 wakecontrol kernel this bug with the button light (allways and forever on) happend twice again and i just could get it to turn of with restarting the device.

IR Sensor is working, i use anymote smart remote and then in the settings "Use alternative IR commands" but i had to use this setting allways even with stock rom.
I'm on this rom for 3 days and I can say it is most stable nougat rom for me and only nougat rom which doesn't have Wi-Fi disconnects. It is fast and smooth. I like it cuz it's based on aosp and not on cm like other roms and it's doesn't have that blue pixel accents. I also like night mode more than live display on cm roms. Only thing that bothers me is back and home keys light staying on after I press power button. Other than that this rom is perfect. Good job devs. Keep up with good work.

I think there will never be an update for this Rom, not even with bugfixes. It is interessting to look into his folders on afh, made a lot of roms for m7 but nearly never an update for non of those roms. Which is really sad because his "test releases" are mostly better than most other Roms when there where already half a dozend updates for them haha. Just those few small bugs solved and a monthy security update and this rom would be one of the best.

Which is really sad because his "test releases" are mostly better than most other Roms when there where already half a dozend updates for them haha. Just those few small bugs solved and a monthy security update and this rom would be one of the best.

Very very waiting)
Post up your wish-list of custom options for custom ROM's (non OP) and Kernels and I'll add them to the OP.
This is for options that you aren't finding in any ROM, or at least not in your favorite ROM.
Feel free to mention your current ROM if you like but this thread is NOT about which ROM is the best or your favorite.
Please don't turn it into that. :good:
I'll try to bold new suggestions every day or so till the thread gets tired.
*Ability to filter out specific notifications from appearing (ie: NotifyClean)
*Bring "only show running apps" option back to Slim Recents.
*Clearly mentioned in OP if rom supports encryption/decryption.
*Day/Night - Provide option to switch between two different Substratum themes at toggle of a button.
*Fix the earphone bug.
*Fully working OOS camera
*Now Playing features from Pixel 2 XL detect song from lockscreen via ambient
*Option to remove USB Debugging notification is missing on some newer ROM's.
*Ring on charge complete
*Vibration - Would like to have option for more than 100% vibration.
- Clearly mentioned in OP if rom supports encryption/decryption. That is not always the case and people ask many times in the same thread.
- Long press back to kill foreground app.
Fully working OOS camera times 100. Literally the only thing stopping me from switching from OOS betas. I'm aware of the Google Camera functionality and also about all its problems.
Ability to filter out specific notifications from appearing. For example, my wife and I 'share' an Amazon Prime Photos account. I don't want a 'Successfully uploaded photos from your 3rd device' notification every time she uploads something. But I don't want to mute notifications for the whole app (or sometimes even notification group) as I may not get the 'upload progress' notifications' anymore. The Xposed module Notify Clean was perfect pre-Nougat and AutoNotification works alright post-Nougat, but it would be nice if this was baked into the ROM.

Just FYI, this is already available in every custom ROM I've tried so far.
You just have to enable the navigation bar options and then go into the button editor. I set up all my ROM's with this. And set the home button to open camera on long press.

OMG, if NotifyClean ever gets updated for Oreo I will go back to using Xposed again.
I really miss that app and some of the others by that dev. :good:
Hello there,
First off, the only couple things that stopping me to move from stock to a custom rom is the OOS camera (as mentioned above) and mostly the earphone bug. The mic on the phone and the earphones seems to be activated during a call and it gets pretty annoying to hear an amplified background of your environment and the person's on the other end, seems like most custom roms have this problem.
I've also long wanted to see ''ring on charge complete'' on the OP5T.
Thank you for asking.
Sorry i know this feature is hard to make but Now Playing features from Pixel 2 XL detect song from lockscreen

I think this might be an option using Light Flow?
If you really want it then it might be worth looking into.
It does custom ringtones for certain actions.
And they can be backed up for ROM re-flashes as long as the ringtone is stored in the usual spot /system/media/sounds/etc.

To clarify my personal request here:
*Day/Night - Provide option to switch between two different Substratum themes at toggle of a button.

A few ROM's provide built in day/night theme options.
But they don't theme apps like phone or calculator or anything else.
They only theme the settings and drop-down and a couple other things.
I want a nice non-tasker hack.
And would be willing to donate for it
