I got a white S5 from a friend, but I really prefer the black version instead.
Is it possible to get a black screen/front glass face for my white S5? then get a black home button and back cover to fully transform it? Or is there more to it than that?
Anyone? Well this is disappointing.
Thanks a lot guys, really.
You could, but honestly it would be a large expense and a lot of work for no functional benefit. You would be better off selling yours and purchasing another one (used or refurb) in black.
Hy to all Nexus 5X Users,
I want to give a little feedback to the N5X. On my first order i get
a H791. I was very dissapointed about the screen quality. A yellowish tint, really
ugly. I read in forums about that an thinked thats nornal.
After 3 days i send it back because i hate this yellow sh...
1 week later i give the N5x a new chance and get a H791F.
Looks complete the same but when turning on, i see a clear screen, sharp
with fine colors, no yellow tint.
So, there are really different screens built in. Some people know it build
differences or calibrate wrong. False, the yellow screen is also awful if
i calibrate it myself.
I will make photos to see the differnce.
how to you check your display serial number ?
I think the difference between H791 and H791F are just of supported bands and markets
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=9095&id2=9047
It would be intresting though to compare our display serial number to see if the yellowish ones are a specific series or different manufacturer.
Photos
Here are the photos.
Also the vibra motor is on the nexus with the yellow screen
louder. It feels as the whole nexus plastic body vibrate. hard
to explain but like a cheaper chinese phone.
The battery cover also feels not so smooth. My girlfriend does
not know a lot of smartphones but i asked her about the 2 nexus.
She said that the one feels like a chinese copy from the one with the bright lcd.
The yellow screen one has on the sticker outside the box standing 3GB, thats
also strange.
PS. how can i look for the display serial?
Did you buy both phones from Google store?
I also have a 5X with yellow screen - but the thing that annoys me even more is the loud vibration motor.
So is the vibration really a difference between your two phones?
Some screens are yellow but it's not because of the version. Also all the vibration motors sound similar, but once you put a SIM card it can change how it sounds. Something to do with the sim ejection pin that Google acknowledged as normal.

I have the H791 version, yellow screen and on the sticker standing 3 GB. I bought it from Carphone Warehouse (UK). The "3GB" thing is really strange.
But H791F is USA version, H791 is international version for cellular. It's the only difference between 2 of them.
How can I be in the EU - NL then and have a H791F also..? Also ordered in NL..

I didnt notice the yellow of mine. I had the same problem on my nexus 5, it disappeared after a while. Something about the glue and time

Ohh yeah, i didn't try to imply that idea, sorry if it did sound like that.
Maybe it's time to collect serial numbers then?

I have a LG Nexus 5X model LG-H791F retailed and ordered in The Netherlands
My s/n is: 510KPZK01653
The PCB is manufactured in Korea. I just will put logic and say South-Korea hehe.
My phone reports as: bullhead LGH790 32GB

I'm not sure if there's an easier way, but I just went to the bootloader and looked. Turn off your phone. Then press and hold Power and Volume Down at the same time. It will start at the bootloader and show you some basic stats. Then just press Power again to continue booting.
The sad thing is that people have been conditioned by all those cold screens, over the years, to perceive them as the norm.
While in fact, most of the time, the yellower screen is the more accurate one.
The problem with nexus 5x is that its screen is inconsistent, not that it's yellow.

At this point your comment is not right.
Here the problem is that there are Nexus5X devices on the market
which have different parts inside. Nobody like the yellow screen, so
why should these people not choose for a device with a cooler LCD.
What we know at this time that the F version has a brighter display
and also a better vibra motor.
Also we do know that phones with 3gb on the sticker are yelowish.
The lte bands are the same like the normal version. Why?

These are what is known as manufacturing tolerances. They can be found with every device made, specifically cheaper ones which don't spend as much money on quality control.
Some are yellow and some are not but it has nothing to do with the regional versions.

Mate. In your entire comment there is only one part that is right: "there are Nexus5X devices on the market
which have different parts inside", which actually is the norm, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Who said that something is wrong?
We talk only about the differences and how we could identify it.
The customer should have the choice!
Ok, it is something wrong! Here are the words from the androidpit review:
Nexus 5X yellow screen problem
There have been some reports that the Nexus 5X screen has a yellow tint. All phones have some color bias; LCD panels on the likes of the Sony Xperia devices tend to favor cooler blues or purples, while Samsung’s AMOLED screens are typically warmer.
If your Nexus 5X screen has a noticeably yellow hue, however, something is not right. There isn’t anything you can do to correct this yourself, but you may wish to return your Nexus 5X and ask for a new one.
Thinking of leaving the buttons and finger sensor gold when I do the black housing swap.
Anyone already do this?
Didn't get much feedback...so if anyone is wondering....the black looks great with gold buttons. I did change the sensor to black tho.
How easy was the fingerprint sensor to change? I've only changed the battery of my old 6P, was it an easy swap?
It was very easy. Just make sure you have some good double sided tape... because the new fingerprint sensor didn't come with a new sticky pad. The sensor just unplugs and pulls off
Here is a pic
I actually did that about a year ago.
I kept the gold volume rocker and fingerprint scanner and made the rest black. It turned out pretty nice.
Since then I got a pixel XL and now I'm back to a gold Nexus 6p again lol
Looks good. The gold power button looks way goldier..Lol.. next to black volume rockers
I went from black to silver, might do the same on my dad's. The color just comes off. Attaching a photo of it at a year in a case. I think I actually like the silver a lot better.
From the official specifications, Max Pro M2 is supposed to have a IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. But my phone screen is responding to nails, keys and such stuff. What's your experience?!

That's normal.
Capacitive displays work when in contact with a medium through which current can pass. Google for more elaboration.
