ok, so there are some things i've found out by doing some research and combining what i found on here with the issues that some people were having with the Cricket version of the LG Stylo, and would like to share with you guys. while i was rooting my phone with kingroot, i noticed a threat that discussed that using supersu me and supersu wasn't an option without soft bricking your phone with a boot loop, after some research and trial i figured out how to get around the problem. The issue was the uninstallation of kinguser app form the phone, this is because using supersu me uninstalls kingroot and replaced it with the superuser binaries, but it leaves some core files of kinguser behind which causes errors, an if you keep your phone on, you'll notice that you'll start getting error messages for an about kingroot permission and all types of errors until your phone starts to freeze and act up. there is an easy fix for it all that worked for me, and would like to share this information and help people having this issue.....
I'm posting this as a hint for those who needed the help with installing xposed on cricket model LG STYLO only running 5.1.1
so to begin, download system repair 2016 and apps2sd from play store, kinguser directly from their site so it will be the latest version,,,root your phone,,,,,don't delete the kinguser apk you downloaded you'll need it for later,,,,now install supersu me from the play store and open and run it, it'll uninstall kinguser and replace the binaries for superuser, this is where its gonna become tricky,,,,,,download supersu and run which will ask for update of binaries also let it finish updating and uninstall the supersu me control,,,,,now open apps2sd and clear the davik cache and other caches without restarting,,,,then run system repair 2016, it'll show that you had a few errors because kinguser hates the fact that supersu me uninstalled it and left messed up configurations on your phone, then clear the davik cache again, now you have to use the same kinguser apk you get at the start of the process and reinstall it to your phone, or else you will be getting a boot loop issue......for some reason even though all the caches are cleared and the system has been checked for errors, the kinguser app installs itself as a system app, a dependency if you will, like a basic LG/Cricket app that if you uninstall will cause errors, so but reinstalling it we stop that problem, you can run it but don't need to activate the root option of kinguser......this will cause the kinguser permission errors to stop also from this point only you can restart your phone,,,,,now you're able to install flashfire and xposed frameworks, and even restart your phone without worry of boot looping since there isn't much support for the LG-H634 stylo model.........:angel:
hope this was helpful for you guys that was in need of replacing kinguser, and installing xposed framework, i've not tried anything further with the twrp install but keep a look out for the names "vegito6" "vegito69" ....and wish me luck on twrp

I'm pretty sure that you ended up with brick because you didn't unlock your bootloader before backing up. My girlfriend did the same thing. As of right now I'm trying to figure out If there's a way past the bootloader or at least a way to do everything the bootloader can do without unlocking it.
Original Firmware
Can we not flash the original firmware via download mode ? I had this phone (bought from a friend, cricket sim unlocked, phone bricked while i was playing around. )
I'm not super familiar with LG phones, but i keep hearing about a KDZ , is that some kind of official image format ?
If we can flash it for stock via download mode, can someone direct me as to where I might find instructions for our variant of the device, please ?
I was able to replace Kingroot with SuperSu using a guide I found on a website called w0lfdroid, I think. I just Google 'replace Kingroot with SuperSu and it was the second one down (I'm a new user so I can't post the link). I think it worked pretty well, but I'm still not able to flash TWRP or start the process to get xposed. If I can't get it, I might unroot and try the process again with this method.
as anyone with brick try this http://lg-firmware-rom.com/downloads/lg-g-stylo-h634-stock-tot-firmware-v10g/ , they offer files for unbricking, $40 bucks
what do you guys think

works great, after flashing with LG Flash tools tot method just take out battery and wait 5sec, and put it back in and turn on, android logo will show and then it will boot normally, now i'm back to working on the supersu install methods to help people from bricking, wish me luck . also backing up boot img and then trying to use super sume to switch to still will cause boot looping to my knowledge. got 2 phones working on it, thanks to our annonomous LG guys for the unbricking

well not really, because if you go into the developer options there is the oem bootloader unlock you can select, not sure but i've got a cricket and boost version i've been working on it for a while, for some reason the phone doesn't like the way SU gets injected into the phone, and writes things to the wrong areas, i've been playing with some scripts for superuser installers from zip, hopefully i get a hit.

I noticed there is no solution posted. I recently bricked my phone and fixed it, thanks to you. I was simply wondering of there has been progress with getting the framework installed. Your help is much appreciated.
So I'm sort of confused... I cannot install xposed, and can't seem to find a work around. I am rooted but not with kingroot. I used a one click root tool on pc, and works great... Using su that is suggested using in this guide, so no trace of king root. Idk, could someone give me a quick run down on how to install xposed?
So no luck with installing xposed yet
So far I am rooted with Super SU and have exposed installer I'm just having a hard time getting the framework installed. I do not have custom recovery installed. Is there any way to flash the framework zip file with like flashify or another app like that?
Just now I lost root. My phone working 2 weeks rooted without problem.
SuperSu write me that there is no SU binary installed. I tried with Odin and CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte to root again but the same not root.
Hey me too! Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Root was working fine but suddenly lost root, came up with some storage full error, next thing I know, lost root.
Root checker says: Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device.
Lemme know if you have any solutions. i'm probably gonna try to backup and then reroot

The easiest way (which I tasted on my Galaxy S7 Edge), which doesn`t require playing with extraction of boot.img etc., is the following:
1) Check what is your current ROM version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2772624
2) Download corresponding ROM from - 1GB~~ Download Takes few hours
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
It takes some time for download to complete (sammobile is slow for free users) but it is worth waiting IMO.
Tip: when you find your ROM there, you can copy the full filename and try to google it for some mirror links, just be smart and do not download from some trash sites.
3) Download newest Odin 3.11
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1463117260
4) Download updated CF Auto Root (all the files now are already updated by Chainfire, and it will protect you from losing root again)
https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
5) Using Odin, flash your ROM (which you just downloaded) to your device. I won`t describe whole process, as there is many tutorials. But in general, after putting your phone in Download Mode, and connecting to PC, you run Odin, and you select only the AP file (you can ignore the other files in package with names that starts from CSC, BT, Home_CSC etc.)
You will not lose any data. This is important. If you download ROM which match the ROM you already have on your phone, then you can flash the entire ROM without losing any data, settings etc.
6) After flashing your ROM, now you can flash CF Auto Root and root your phone like you did once before.
I tested it on my phone and everything worked without problem.

Haha me too! The last thing I remember doing is unfreezing the edge screen functions and logging into that "oncircle" or whatever thing. Because I've never known what it is! And the next thing I know, TB doesn't have too. I had it minutes ago. Then I reflashed SuperSU from TWRP and its back to normal. And froze that useless edge screen nonsense.

Yes you need to reinstall all your programs and don't forget to take backup of data (pictures, videos, documents, music).
At the same time you will remove the "bug" that is causing the removal of root.
Normally root don't disapear for no reason unless there is a bug in SuperSU, or you have installed a program that you might or might not know removes root.
If there was such a bug in SuperSU that removes itself then there would be a widespread reaction among other users and an update would have been released.
So try it out, and please report back so others with similar problem can see if it was success or not.
I also lost root today...
My guess is I saw an OTA security update(google android) going on today and after some time(it has been installed) I realised I lost root.
Weird is that I am on a custom ROM TEKXnesis HYBRID S7E URv4.5
I thought that being on a custom ROM I will not get OTA updates anymore ?!

Bug or no bug (and I hope it is the former), there already is a widespread reaction. I lost root out of the blue - 935FD rooted with CF auto root method, no TWRP, Xposed installed using FlashFire, stock ROM. The last update I recall was to an Xposed module called "Flat Style Bar Indicators" - which is totally awesome and works very well.
I don't think I want to go the TWRP route, wipe everything and start from scratch, only to lose root again.
Fingers crossed for it to be an SU bug and simply fixed by flashing an updated version via ODIN.
And now that I've lost root, will I be able to get and install OTA update when one for my region becomes available?
i lost my phone , but not the root
I lost root randomly as well on my Galaxy S7 G930F. I rooted the phone about a month ago and had no issues at all. This just appeared randomly out out of the blue. I'm thinking it might have been some sort of OTA security update pushed to my phone as some others mentioned, but I can't be sure. I tried re-rooting with CF-Autoroot, but SuperSU still says I'm not rooted. Will an update to CF-Autoroot or SuperSU fix this? I would prefer not to start from scratch.
I had the same problem and stop Security Aytomatic updates. Looks than 12 hours now and still I have the root. Hope to stay like that
Yep same here, I mentioned this a few days ago. I went with CF Auto Root and flashed zips with FlashFire. I did get a warning about a security policy update around the same time. I think I picked the install later option. Lost root in the end though. I went with the nuclear option
Flashed stock image, updated to latest UK OTA. Flashed TWRP, didn't full wipe after setting up (I don't need /data to be accessed, I just flash zip from external SD). So I still have encryption. Didn't flash dm verity (don't need to). Back to normal now. I've rebooted multiple times and haven't lost root yet. I've disabled automatic security updates too.
Same happened to me, I receiced a security update notification, and then, in titanium back up I realize I lost root, fortunately I was able to reboot in TWRP with button combo and flashed supersu.zip to gain root again, but I'm curios how this happened and what backdoor this security update use to unroot

Just follow the TWRP install steps. You have to full wipe if you don't have an external SD card to flash mods unless you want to disable encryption............which I don't think is a smart idea.
I'm wondering why you root your phone or choose not to. My reasoning for both is below.
On the root side:
*I'm coming from a rooted 5x. With the introduction of Nougat, I lost any way to a power menu (via Xposed) screenshot. So my preferred method without that option was using a home button remapping app (Homebot https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abast.homebot ) that opened up my screencap app ( Screencap https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.symcoding.app.screenshots ) but there screencap app requires root. It's clunky, but it works. I've tried every other screencapping app I can find and nothing works as easy as power menu>screenshot. I could use power+power down, but my case makes that difficult. It's not worth downgrading the OS to use Xposed for this. But I'm on the fence if it's worth rooting my 6p.
* I like Xposed mods that allow me to modify things like going to text only battery percentage. Still not worth downgrading to Marshmallow though.
On the no rooting side:
*I won't be forever chasing a way to use or being without the ability to use Android pay.
Your thoughts/reasoning?

I mean, you don't have to root.
You can unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM (such as Pure Nexus). With Pure Nexus, you don't have to flash SuperSU, which gives you root access, or you can flash SuperSU, up to you.
Either way, there is an option in the ROM to add screenshot to the power button menu, and there is no need for Xposed (which doesn't have support for N yet anyways).
Going between root access and no root only takes 30 seconds, and you can switch between the two anytime you want. To add root, simply flash the SuperSU. To unroot, go into SuperSU menu and click the unroot button.
The only benefit I see without root is the ability to use Android Pay. Android Pay will still work on the Pure Nexus ROM, as long as you don't flash SuperSU.

Well, if you're not sure, don't root. It is a security risk. Also if you ever want to pay with your phone, then you don't root.
Me, I always had rooted phones, because
- I like to be in total control of all my computers, no matter if stationary or mobile.
- Also when I develop my rom, it helps if I can remove all traces of a system app from the phone itself.
- Also, because I develop my rom, I regularly make TitaniumBackups when trying out a bigger change in the os.
- Makes me all powerful and grownup
I just rooted my 6P yesterday. My main driver was to be able to edit the build.prop file to get the Google Assistant on my 6P, which is supposed to be a Google Pixel exclusive feature. That worked for me, and I'm enjoying the Google Assistant, although I'd say it's still very much in its infancy. However, I did lose the ability to use Android Pay though , but I've been trying to find a workaround for using Android Pay on my rooted 6P. I believe it can be done on a systemless root (like SuperSU 2.76+ IIRC). I've seen some data points on that on another 6P thread. My Android Pay is still being very finicky though.

Are you sure that the custom TWRP recovery will remain if you unroot using the button within SuperSU? In the Nexus 6P rooting guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928), step 2, dealing with installation of custom recovery TWRP, says that TWRP "won't stick" if you don't immediately flash SuperSU after booting into TWRP recovery the very first time. I can attest to that, because it happened to me. I had to reflash the TWRP img file, reboot into TWRP recovery, and immediately flash the SuperSU on the phone to make TWRP stick. Do you think unrooting thru SuperSU will allow the TWRP to remain, so that you can use Android Pay? Otherwise, you need to do another step of flashing the TWRP before rerooting.
Secondly, do you know if you just need to be unrooted to add cards to Android Pay? Or do you need to be unrooted for even regularly paying with your app? I've not had success adding cards (except for one) to my Android Pay app after rooting. I haven't yet had a chance to test whether I am able to pay while rooted.
One does not need to root.
If it works for you stock, go for it.
I would say though that unlocking the bootloader is a must.
It allows freedom if anything ever gets corrupt.
Do it ASAP because it wipes the device..

Yes, when you flash the Pure Nexus ROM, it will not have root by default. So if you flash the ROM, google apps, and vendor image and then reboot, the ROM will work as needed, but will not have root. In order to get root, you have to flash the SuperSU file in TWRP.
In Android Pay, you will need to be on the Pure Nexus ROM with no SuperSU flashed in order to add cards or use Android Pay regularly when paying. But you can simply flash the SuperSU file when you need root, and then remove root by going to the SuperSU app.
I have an SM-T530NU, 10.1 with Android 4.4.2. I rooted it about 15 months ago. Now I just want it to play Netflix and my Fioptics App, which don't work on rooted devices. Did a Bing search and found that if I delete SU from Xbin and Superuser from App (https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...CFEE640A2AAA8AC3EFBCC&view=detail&FORM=VIREHT)
Says you delete SU from Xbin and Superuser from App file, which I can easily do. Seems like there are always gotchas when messing with Androids, and I just want to make sure there are probably no unpleasant surprises. Also, saw where I can use TWRP, which appears simple.
Still have the original firmware on the tablet.
Did see some mention of tripping Knox counter voids warranty. Obviously, don't care about that, but want to make sure I can use Apps like Netflix and Fioptics after I unroot. Any help would be appreciated.
The best way to unroot it would be to flash stock rom with Odin. If you still need help please let me know and I'd be more than delighted to help.

This is the Odin version best to use. Assuming your table is SM-T530NU
Hello I'm looking for help to gain root permission on my G6+.
I recently realized that if I loss my phone without the GPS turned ON then I can´t track it (that's why google's "find my device" is useless).
So I found an app called Cerberus that can enable my GPS remotely, but for that I need root access.
Can get that access without twrp and flashing new images? I mean in an easier/safer way?
Thanks!

You have to first unlock the bootloader, then you can Boot TWRP and flash magisk, but are you asking can you root the device remotely?

Rooting an A/B device can be a little tricky, especially if you have an encrypted ROM. There are good guides for rooting previous ROMs but this last update requires several extra steps.

No, what i'm looking for is to gain root permissions in an easy way to instal an app that can remotely turn on my GPS to find it in case I lost it

That's why I'm trying to avoid rooting as seen on posted guides. I'm fine with my ROM I just need to fix that finding my device issue.
