[HowTo] Encrypt/Decrypt phone when rooted & Xposed

I would like to share with you how to encrypt/decrypt when you are rooted. Restart one time the phone after you have installed the firmware and rooted.
Done with H815E two times.
I - Install PKILL tool
Install from the playstore Busybox Installer and install busybox. It will install on your device a lot of command line tools. (you need to be rooted)
II - Install Terminall
From the playstore install Terminal .
III - prerequisites
- Plug-in the charger on your phone
- Add unlock pin to your phone before encrypting
IV - Encrypting
Open Terminal and write
Code:
su
The carret change from $ to #
Code:
pkill -KILL daemonsu
The carret change from # to $
Just after that go settings and security then encrypt / decrypt device (don't wait)

Didn't work on Verizon G4.
Followed all of the above steps on a freshly rooted and wiped Verizon G4 without success. Just sits on red Verizon boot animation endlessly. Really would like to have root and encryption.

Sorry for that, do you have a rebot your phone after having install root ? You need to do it one time.

I just disabled the SuperSU app and it worked.

One question remains: Why on earth does LG sends it device into eternal "do nothing loop" when trying to encrypt a rooted device. Why o why? Must be the same evil bastard that implemented the "battery full" sound. He/she wants the LG customers to suffer!

My experience has been the same as keeperoffrisco's. And I, too, have the Verizon variant of the LG G4.
The obvious problem with this method and the Verizon model is that the phone restarts immediately after initiating the encryption process. For this reason, I don't see how killing the daemonsu binary will have any effect.
As soon as the encryption process is initiated, the screen flashes briefly to the green "Android" guy on a white background, and then switches to the Verizon boot screen, and then hangs there forever (until I pull the battery).
I sympathize with @fpsq: why the **** does the phone sit in this state once it's rooted? How is the bootloader establishing that the phone is rooted?
I'm really eager to find a method for encrypting a rooted Verizon LG G4!

You can. My rooted + encrypted LG G4 is right beside me. Have a look at these links for instructions:

Basically it is:
"You should NOT root via the method here described. UNLOCK your bootloader, encypt, start TWRP. Get password enter screen. Ignore that screen TWRP does not work properly. Tell TWRP to reboot system. Swipe to "yes install SU" Back in GUI install rest for SU from Play Store. Not to hard once you done it. "
To be able to decrypt once you are already rooted you need to uninstall root, then supersu + busybox and the like and then decrypt.
If this does not work you need to convince your device you never have been rooted (RCT bypass). The instructions for the LG G2 work just fine and can be found here:

Sometimes it is usefull that LG is only updateing software if it really really has to. So a lot of old and unchanged code in the excuse that servers LG as an Android skin. :cyclops:

My understanding is that LG provides a method for unlocking the bootloader only on the H815 model. I have the VS986.
Am I missing something? Thanks for any clarification you may be able to provide!

Yes, right now LG provides a bootloader unlock only for the European variants of the H815 - so no Singapore or US variants and no Verizon, Dual Sim variants or whatsoever etc.
If you didn't take an OTA you might have a chance to use the unofficial bootloader unlock that is due to come out with the official release of the LG V10 on the 20th of October.

Do NOT buy not unlockable Phones. Buy the LG G4 H815. How on earth should manufactures ever learn if you keep throwing money at them? By the way, almost all carriers where infiltrated by the NSA. I've Systemless root, kill the deamon but the encryption process stills hangs on reboot.

Ok, after some hours of trying, testing and failing I've found a solution.
Basically you have to install twrp first, encrypt the phone and then root it with the systemless supersu.
In my case, twrp still fails to decrypt the /data partition, even i've installed it as the phone was unencrypted. So I've to install the Super-su zip from the external sd card and then it was no problem .

Xposed for Samsung Galaxy J3

Hey! So recently I got a Samsung Galaxy J3 and was wondering if it was possible to get Xposed on it? Flashing a Zip is not an option, by the way.

I got this phone recently myself and am so far very sad at the lack of ability to do things with it root-wise, such as getting root to frickin stick and getting things like Xposed installed (with-out boot looping your device....).

The problem is that I don't have custom recovery either, and I'm not yet experienced enough to know how to flash something like xposed without it, without bootlooping. I actually already have the xposed you're talking about, wanam is what I need since im on 5.1, so if someone guides me on how to flash it or at least points me in the right direction, maybe that'd help.
Also as a side question, somewhat related to this, anyone know what I should do about custom recovery? There are models close to mine but not the exact same that are covered by TWRP or CWMR, but I've been very strongly advised against such a course of action.

I'd recommend TWRP, actually. If your device doesn't have a custom recovery developed, it could be a pain. Just hoping if someone could develop it one for your device.

I would agree with you, as I had TWRP on my last phone and liked it quite a bit. I just don't know which phone's TWRP to try and how to try and flash it on there. Do I do it through Odin? Theres (if I recall correctly) a TWRP for the Samsung Galaxy J2 and J5, on either side of my J3 (Which it's so odd that the newer phone came out with a "series" number in the middle like that). Which would you suggest I do, J2 or J5, or neither?

Me being dumb, I tried manually installing the required files for Xposed a few weeks ago and it bricked immediately. So I had to get a replacement. I'm not sure if it's because I did it wrong but based on that I don't think we'll ever be able to install Xposed which really sucks. Coming from my previous phone which had a lot of tweaks from xposed it just feels weird using a normal phone.

I know what you mean. Every time I restart my phone I have to re-root it if I want to do something with it. Luckily I don't really need root on this phone. Mainly because of the lack of things you can do with it. Hoping to see something come out of this though

I know exactly what you both mean. My previous crappy phone had loads of things from xposed on there that I missed. However the good news I guess is since I don't need certain UI tweaks because I'm satisfied with what this phone comes with I'm not missing out on too much. And thus far every time I get bootloop I just use Odin to flash a copy of the original firmware and somehow it doesn't reset everything so I can still keep trying without losing all my apps. Just haven't found anything that sticks. Maybe one of us should try a custom recovery from a different Samsung Galaxy J Series like the 2 or 5.

Yeah I mainly used Xposed on my previous phone to make it look more like Lollipop but since this phone comes with it I don't need it as much. And I didn't know you were able to unbrick this phone? I would have saved about $40 if I knew that ? well then yeah we should probably try one of them. I think we should go with the newest one though

Thats what I was thinking, but I don't know which J series came out before the J3 this year or I'd try that one. And yep, luckily able to unbrick it thanks to Odin. Actually unbricked it from even worse than a boot loop, I accidentally destroyed my recovery somehow so I couldn't even boot into that and do a factory reset, but thankfully Odin's separate from the recovery so it still worked. End of the day if you can at least get your phone recognized by your computer and can flash something onto it, flashing stock = unbrick (usually).

I own the J3 also. Have gained temp root via king root so I could debloat the system. We need a cf auto root option. Our device is 5.1.1 and I think the kernel has to be modified for true root. Then development can start. As for xposed,you need full root for that to work properly. I suggest to you all to get a copy of the device firmware,install odin on pc so you can reinstall firmware if you decide to use temp root and end up boot looped after debloating to much or making other potentially harmful changes.

I have the same thing, temp root that's lost when I reboot. I've already had to go the Odin route with the original firmware so I've got my backup covered. I'm also working with the dev behind Super Sume and he thinks he has the issue resolved, if not he's going to teamview with me to try and get past this. If we manage to solve the problem I'll post the results and subsequent steps here. Hopefully this will lead to root sticking through reboot. If so then at minimum may be able to solve -some- of the problems. Though I don't know if this will fix Xposed not working, as it always caused me to boot-loop in the past (only solved by going into TWRP and rebooting from there) and even if root sticks the only way to flash Xposed according to current theories is to do so from custom recovery, which I haven't found one for this device yet.
Have you been able to get a custom recovery on your J3? If so that would be the other key part to solving a lot of these problems. If I get the Super Sume to work and someone else can manage to get a custom recovery working, maybe that'll be the start of this device's support here =D.

No but I believe by repacking an edited firnware you can add xposed that way.

Unfortunately I wouldn't know the first thing about editing a firmware, much less be able to add Xposed lol. Could that be a way to manually add custom recovery? Or are we still dependent on someone making a version compatible with this phone?

will need a custom recovery built for the device. with proper root you could then use flashify to install it to the device. root opens the door for everything. temp root will never get much except ability to debloat the device.

I recently purchased an LG Stylo 2. It just came out and I am looking to root it. However, I have not found a way to root it, both manually and through any one-click software. I had an LG Volt before this, that I rooted manually. However, I have yet to come across any method to rooting the LG Stylo 2. Is there any method as of late?

No nothing yet! Tried KingRoot but it failed as far as a more complex method none are out yet

Have you guys tried to unlock your bootloaders? Or tried adb to open TWRP without installing it then flashing SU?

hi I just bought LG Stylo 2 and tried to root with kingroot apk it showed me success when ii tried to update SU Binary it was rebooted and stuck on boot loop with message root verification failed mismatch sig-len i dont know what does it means no flashable stock rom is available yet .......please can anybody help me out... feeling sad...

Heya - Yeah the boot loader will unlock from ads fastboot in a sec. the fastboot on the phone (I have the ms550 Metro version) is crippled, however. it will not fastboot boot so you can't just grab a twrp and test it by throwing it at it. I would like to test more, I'm willing to flash whatever since I know the download mode will let us fix all....I'm just trying to get a kdz file so I can have it in the background just in case I totally F it up
Obviously without the twrp I can't flash any of the su versions.
My spidey sense tells me it's not that far away for us. Just be patient. I love the phone ( I liked my G Stylo as well)

If I'm not mistaken I believe the phones are pretty much the same specs still aside from the camera. I have a bootable TWRP. If you run ATB you can boot into this trip without installing it I'd be more than happy to upload it for you guys. I believe the original maker was either Game Theory or DrakenFX.

Can you do that for us along with instructions? I'm kinda scared to do anything with my Stylo 2 since its basically untested and it is my daily driver.

When you are supposed to boot the zip... Type in : fastboot boot.zip instead of twrpblah blah blah....i renamed it to be easier

Any way to flash this twrp thing your talking about without a comp..ill be honest ive only just started to root the last couple phones i owned and have tried to flash any kernels or roms or custom recoverys...but i really want to change up this stylo 2..and the opting out of adpotable storage lg sony and few others did is drove me crazy..i wish i woulds known before i bought this dumb thing

I'm confused. Does installing TWRP get us any closer to root? I mean it's good to be able to get a backup, but it's really root that I want.

If boot loader is unlocked in a sence u can get root by pushing su right? And how do u get into factory recovery?

In the event that this fails (Since I have the Stylo 2 and not the Stylo) and my phone bricks, is there a program to de-brick?

Hmm, When I type in "adb reboot bootloader", my phone reboots. back to the lockscreen.

Need guidance for Galaxy E5 (S978L)

First off, I have little knowledge about rooting, custom recoveries.. etc. I'm a noob.
My problem is that I do have my Samsung Galaxy E5 (S978L) rooted with King Root (verified with root checker).
But I am trying to get rid of King Root and replace it with SuperSU. I have the SuperSU-Me app installed, but it
doesn't get past "Processing, please wait...". The regular SuperSU app gives me an error when I try to install it,
and it says "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" I have to select normal? Since my device is not listed
under TWRP's install menu... and the normal install fails leading me to "Installation failed! please reboot and try again"
which obviously doesn't work for me. I think I read something about unlocking bootloaders, but I am not sure where
to go from that, since samsung is harder to do that with? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also I don't think it helps that this E5
is the straight talk tracfone model.
Bottom line is I am trying to replace King Root with SuperSU, and install TWRP onto my POS phone. Any help is appreciated. Once again, I have no clue about anything really. Trying to learn this stuff

Has some useful info for you. Supersume got rid of king root for me, version 6.7 did it I'll try to upload it later. Also as far as a custom recovery, we are still working on making a permissive kernel which I feel like I am getting closer, but not having a computer to test with if I brick I'm out the game for a little bit lol. Also in my thread at my latest post I explained how to find the proper partitions to dump with dd in terminal emulator, to make a proper nandroid. Many useful articles on this site. Good luck. Maybe you should merge this with the other thread I linked and started for our sneaky straight talk phones. Also, once we get the permissive kernel, we can get the custom recovery going probably, bootloader needs to be unlocked too. Anyways ya, be easy.

Just a little update: I finally have SuperSU installed. For some reason, supersu me wasn't working with my king root, however once I uninstalled it, and installed KINGOroot supersu me worked...
Maybe I can now assist in your process since I have a powerful computer and a decent paying job. But my days are pretty busy. But shortly I'll be trying to make a nandroid backup after doing some reading. Have to learn some of this stuff. But my next couple days are packed. Anyways thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Shortcut to being rooted on N910VVRU2CQI2

Here's my Cheat Sheet ! This is the same procedure I used a while back with N910VVRU2CPD1 . I just updated the thread to work with the newer package.
1. Odin SamMobile N910VVRU2BPA1
reboot and factory reset a few times if needed to remove custom icon
2. Odin hsbadr's N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CPD1_FullFirmware.tar HERE
3. Unlock with the samsung_unlock_n4-fix PROCESS use SIM card for data. Wi-Fi will not work at this point.
4. Odin twrp-3.0.2-0-trltevzw.tar Uncheck Auto Reboot, Manually boot into TWRP
5. Odin hsbadr's N910VVRU2CPD1_StockRestore.tar HERE
6. TWRP BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524, Factory Reset, boot system
7. Use FlashFire to Flash firmware package SamMobile N910VVRU2CQI2
( ! System and Cache only ! )
Your mileage may vary.
Before I install my personal apps I remove as much Verizon, Samsung and Google spyware as possible.

EDIT: I was able to skip the recommended rooting and unlocking of 5.1.1 and make the jump I described.
I did not do the unlock using Kingroot until step 3 and I did not permanent root with Super Su until step 6.
No matter how you get there the phone has to be on [Firmware] [MM] [6.0.1] [RetEd/DevEd] Safe Upgrade to Marshmallow [N910VVRU2CPD1] then you can use FlashFire.

I keep seeing people saying there is a way to just flash TWRP and Magisk and you're done. I'd like to avoid SuperSU and the other root methods if possible. How would that work with your updated guide? Thanks

My main concern is the spyware the guys on Reddit bring up. Not to use kingroot and the like. Was there any resolution to this thread you posted Dr cool? Want to unlock my bootloader and flash the MODest ROM but I want to be able to avoid spyware too. Thanks for your work.

I'm not sure if it was spyware or what. but my phone performance better after cleaning out that folder.

Thanks doc. Is that a folder that gets overwritten when you flash a new room?

This says "Continue with sim card data because wifi wont work at this point."
What if we don't have any data right now? Will it still work?

Kingroot needs to connected to root. I never seen it work without a connection. N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CPD1_FullFirmware.tar brakes wifi but you get it back with N910VVRU2CPD1_StockRestore.tar, I dont know why. It just works

My best guess now is it's some kind of provisioning issue that is cleaned up. Some of the files deleted you may actually need some day.

does this require the developer version? btw how do i backup

I seem to lose root after I flash CPD1. Still have TWRP though and says developer mode. What could be causing this?
Edit - When I flash stock restore I mean. I get rooted on BPA/CPD and then when I go to the next step I'm losing root and Kingroot says it has no solutions. I must be doing something wrong.

As long as you have TWRP installed still you are in good shape. At that point, you could either flash (through TWRP) SuperSu or magisk (on certain kernels magisk install errors out in twrp). The main objective is to get the custom recovery (twrp) installed on the 6.0.1 bootloader and once that's done it's just a matter of flashing your preferred rooting method or flashing a rom that has root included.
You can use an app like this to check your bootloader to make sure it's the right one.

That's weird. I flashed SuperSU but it didn't show up in the apps and when I tried to use Flashfire it said I didn't have root.

Got there. SuperSU had an error message when I tried to install it the 1st time after flashing full system. So I rebooted and installed again. Now Flashfire crashes and won't open. Switched to Flashify and it seems to work ok.
Edit - Stuck here for now. Flashify can't seem to find the CQI2 file and I still haven't been able to get Flashfire to work. Tried an older version and still crashes when it checks to see if I have the pro version or not.

In case someone else has the same problem with Flashfire, it's because the program expired April 1st, 2018. Turn the date back on your phone and it will load.

Finally completed it!!!
Ok, so the things I learned from my trials and errors.
1) DON'T flash the kernal and SU after you root with the N4 fix. I did this the 1st 15 times and could never get Flashfire to work later on. So skip all of the stuff in that post after you flash TWRP. Then flash the next firmware step.
2) Uncheck auto time and date on your phone and roll it back to before 4/1/18 to get Flashfire to work.
I'm sure there are some more things and I'll add whatever else I think can help the next guy along. Good luck! And thanks for the guide doc!
Note: Did the phone icon on your lock screen disappear as well when you were done? The camera is there on the bottom right like normal, but the phone is gone on the bottom left and it displays the charging info there now.

Thanks for this - it was helpful to make clear that in my mind that despite what other guides say, there is no need to unlock a Lollipop bootloader with a Lollipop kernel + ROM first, and that we can boot a Lollipop kernel + ROM with a Marshmallow bootchain and unlock the Marshmallow bootloader from the get-go.
I tracked down the CQI2 full Odin and I made hybrid Odins that get you "rooted on N910VVRU2CQI2" in fewer steps, following hsbadr's file naming scheme:
N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CQI2_FullFirmware.tar.md5: MM CQI2 bootchain/firmware/modem, LL BPA1 ROM/kernel/recovery
N910VVRU2CQI2_StockRestore.tar: MM CQI2 ROM/kernel (no recovery - TWRP isn't overwritten)
These should be fine as drop-in replacements for the files mentioned in steps 2 and 5 of your guide.
Using these obviously means that you are unlocking the CQI2 aboot instead of the CPD1 aboot in step 3 while temprooted, and - importantly - step 7 is unnecessary to get to a CQI2 ROM, which is good because Flashfire is now expired :3
I doubt there's much of a real benefit to being on the newer aboot, but hey, why not.

No, this will work with both versions of the verizon note 4.

I followed this link because its supposed to be a way to downgrade from 6.1.0 to 5.1.1 so I can unlock boot loader. However, these instructions make no sense to me. Can someone PLEASE help me. I've been searching and searching for a way to root my note 4 (N910VVRS2CQA1) and can't seem to find a way. I've never done this before so I'm pretty clueless. When I read these instructions, I just don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing. A lot of this tech lingo means nothing to me unfortunately. I'm starting to thing I should just give up the idea of rooting this Note 4 that's getting slower and slower and just get a new one. I don't really want to though bc I love the fact that you can replace the battery. It'd be much easier to just root and upgrade.....well, easier if I actually knew how.
