Android Wear - No phone - Virtual Machine? - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is it possible to run Android Wear watch without Android phone? I have a BlackBerry and I got Sony SmartWatch 3 and would like to use atleast some features of the Smartwatch. But is it even possible without android phone, just with virtual machine?(I have Macbook.) And is it possible to install apps to watch than? Or mission impossible?
Any advice? Thank You : )

No, you still have to pair it with the phone...

demo software?

Hey guys,
My boss just got a DroidX, and it is slightly different than my SGS. I want to know if there is a software version of the phone, similar to how the windows mobile SDK allowed you to run an instance of the OS on your computer screen.
I want to be able to control my own version of the phone, or see each screen at least, so i can tell him what to do and he doesn't go back to the idiotPhone.
can i do this with a file from the android sdk?

Ford Sync Hacking anyone?

Anyone here know anything about hacking the Ford Sync navigation systems? Im told its windows mobile based, maybe windows ce? I really dont know for sure.
what i really want to do is let my android take over the touchscreen so my phone will be displayed on the nav screen. Just cant find many people who want to experiment with their cars. Ill be willing to test but need help developing.
If anyone else is interested in this project please let me know!
FORD Sync is based on the Microsoft Windows Embedded Automotive operating system. It should be possible to pair this WinCE unit with your Android based phone via Bluetooth. Bluetooth enables information to be sent between electronic devices that have Bluetooth.
Im not talking about pairing the phone with sync, im talking about my phone taking over sync.
I, like many others, want to use and access apps from the touchscreen. For example, i like google nav. I want to have google navigation displayed on my sync touchscreen and audio from my car speakers. same for pandora, ect.
OR, car home?
I do not believe Bluetooth is fast enough to handle the video, so this project will likley require the device to be plugged into the usb port.
A start will be hacking in and installing a feature that displays video from the usb. next steps would be getting the touch screen to work with the device and support audio(audio can be via Bluetooth anyways)
I would be happy if you could shell out to the CE interface
I have done some programming on CE and XP Embedded and we used to program with almost a full desktop installed then at last minute before delivery to customer we would remove most of the windows interface except a blank desktop and an application launch icon only. I wish we could enable all of the modules in this release. Pretty much anything windows can do...
On Sync if we could still run the standard apps and shell out to use the functionality of CE or XPE that would be awesome. Then you could just use visual studio express and program away for free. (may have to buy CE plugin ) Many Apps are available already.
Oh well I doubt any of this will happen but I would even pay for the keys to unlock Sync from Ford if they offered it!
What about Raspberry Pi integration rather than an Android? If the nav could be used as a display and input interface, the possibilities would be endless. Where can we start?

Click to collapse
Good thing i have 2.
Thats the big question, how to use the nav screen that way. The RP would probably be better since it will be way easier to add the touchscreen interface. I wonder if we could just configure the screen to have a 2nd input that can be switched back and forth? sound would be an issue but a good second step.
I know this is an old post but here is a link. Ford finally open sourced their information. http://openxcplatform.com/

Android wear on Windows 10 Mobile?

With Windows 10 Mobile apparently being able to run Android apps, is there anyone who has tried (on an insider build) to run the Android wear app and see if it can connect to a watch? I would be surprised if it did, since the deep integration it has with Android, but it would be a good reason to buy one of those new Lumia 950's...
As far I know few android phones are working with IOS but no luck for Windows phone. I hope Android wear will work on Windows phone very soon.
