Independent of being g/c or other version ?
Goes it matter which edge+ kernel/rom combo? Any proven ones?

Doesnt matter, even you can flash Sprint, T-mobile, Verizon etc based roms{get no network} beside C, CD, G, I, S, K, L, 08, 00 variant custom roms. Pick one of them and flash proper kernel for s6ep.

I give these examples from my own, almost tried all of them on my G928C.
How can I know which ones will allow cellular service? Is there a dedicated thread/board to the N5/S6+ crossovers?
EDIT: Basically, choose any N5 rom (carrier doesn't matter?) and then flash my carriers kernel for S6+?
---------- Post added at 11:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 AM ----------
SO any N5 ROM plus any S6+ kernel (for my carrier) and good to go?

All the custom roms are ok except carrier branded ones like T-mobile, Sprint etc.
thanks for the help... and for now the major problem is one good kernel for AOD ... the one for s6+ is consuming too much battery
Its looking like a lot of the S6+ kernel threads are shutting down
s6 is dead , and so will future samsungs becase the ****ty xynos cpu as i have readed, samsung is starting to be like apple , so i avoid samsung after this s6 sm-g928f, if i want a ****tup phone i go iphone instead, i rly loved samsung in the past but that time have ended

I recently got an S5 from Cricket/AIO. Was wondering if it was the same as the AT&T version because I wanted to root and put a custom ROM onto it.

Most of us have no direct experience with Cricket because it's not a natiomal carrier. It's only an option for a limited number of US zip codes.
Looking at the specs, starting with the model number - SM-G900AZKZAIO strongly suggest that it's just a rebranded ATT 900A model. And sure enough the specs say that your phone uses all of the same frequency bands.
So the overwhelming chances are that it's ATT compatible in all significant aspects.

Just picked one of these up on Black Friday. Care to share your experience with custom roms for this model? Did the Roms/root for the Att variant work okay? Thanks in advance!

I would be very interested to know as well and thank you for starting this thread. Looking at the settings I see the USB TETHERING and WIFI TETHERING is completely missing from the settings altogether. Thats one main reason I want to root so I can actually use my data outside of the phone. Plus the boot animation is Cricket branded. So its not just a relabeled AT&T phone. The model number also ends in 900AZ not 900A like the AT&T version. The kernel is NE7 thought.
I also found this thread:

Hello, I have a Galaxy S5 from cricket. Samsung-SM-G900AZ with a 5.0 Android Version. Can someone help me root it?
I've successfully rooted and installed the unified blisspop from here on my 900az. It was a long time ago. I think I had to use odin...

Get all the perks of ATT coverage but with an unlocked bootloader.
I have a Note 4 with a Canadian carrier, Rogers. I know there are international version of the phone, i believe it is the N910F and N910H.
Do the international phones get updates directly from Samsung without going through the carriers? If so, would it be possible to convert my Note 4 to an international version and how?
I don't want any of the custom roms as i actually like the stock version with touchwiz and from what i see most of them are full of bugs and require to flash new versions over and over. I just don't need all of my carrier's bloatware and branding, nor to be tied to them for updates as they usually do them months after everyone else. I want to be able to use the actual stock firmware from a international version of the phone.
thanks,
bump, anyone?
Anyone? a simple yes and no would be nice.
Yes u can

Hello,
I just bought the S7 Edge last week. I live in Canada and I have the SM-G935W8 model.
I see no references to this model in the available ROM's, only support for the F or FD models. I'm new to Samsung phones, but not Android. I'd like to start to tinker with this device, specifically to root it and install AdAway and to be able to uninstall all the bloatware it came with. My device was bought outright so it's not locked to any specific carrier.
The W8 is Exynos based, just like the F and FD models are. Does this mean I can use any ROM created for those models?
Thanks in advance!

Here is an excellent rom which is fully compatible with the canadian S7 Edge W8 model:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/vr-560-tekxnesis-hybrid-s7e-urv1-00-00-t3357561
The developer of the rom has been developing custom roms for android for close 6 years.
His rom is a full featured custom rom and it's truly outstanding. It's a multi-variant G935 rom.
Check it out, and be sure you create a nandroid backup before flashing, just in case you
want to revert back to your existing rom.

Yes it is, I know that...
But the GOOD thing is that the download link is still there and it even WORKS. (The rom works perfectly for me)
The developers here in the S7 Edge thread have a lot of catching up to do before their custom roms have all the user options
and additional rom features like the TEKXnesis HYBRID S7E URv4.5 5/3/16 935F/FD/W8 930F/FD/W8 UNIVERSAL rom has.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I guess I'm just more curious and confused about the compatibility of the W8 model. Will the F or FD roms work on it? That's all there seems to be available.

The F and FD most likely will work on an W8 but I am almost certain you will
loose call audio and perhaps even data unless you can find a fix-audio twrp
flashable zip file to flash after flashing the rom.

Hello. I recently purchased an unlocked Galaxy S8. The model number is SM-G950FD. I am wondering if it is possible that I can be able to put the North American Tmobile Rom on it. Reason is that since I am using on TMO, I dont have access to VOLTE or WiFi Calling. Is there any workaround to be able to activate and or use?

Its built into to the ROM. I have it on mine and I have both cricket and tmo as,service providers. Never use tmo tho or eofi calling or volte since for me, my 3G connection is more faster and better Call signal, than 4G lte

Ok. But my phone is the international one. The options to activate and or turn on the features are not there. How can I accomplish this? Any and all help would be appreciated
You would root the phone and then install TKKG1994's CSC selection and choose XAA or XAA>TMB
In reality this is a phone defining decision: Rooting means no samsung pay. hint, 950fd can handle everything that a 950f can
Likely you would want to run a custom rom with the rooting. That means (with root) no more automatic system updates from samsung. Instead you would come here and update the rom as the developer pushes updates.
I do run this setup, presently using a 950F + TKKG's Ironman (note 8 port) rom + S8 XAA CSC from TKKG1994's S8 CSC's selection on T-mobile with volte and wifi calling. I have also run the Batman rom +S8 TMB CSC with the same success.

Excellent setup! Idk how Samsung pay is broken, Magisk root doesn't affect Sammy pay. Least not for me. But heither to, why would anyone use Sammy pay when android pay is more optimal? Just my personal thoughts on it. I know before it messed it up and certain apps wouldn't work like pogo and Mario run due to root but since than all seems golden and all apps work now. I live in the US so Sammy pay doesn't work on a UK s8+ by default. Even before i initially rooted anyways didnt work but the concept is the same for those overseas. Root or no root. To the OP in question, I wouldn't let a downfall of an app stop you from rooting. So much you can do, dual speaker mod, camera mod, youtube with no ads and background play, etc. Its amazing!
For the 2nd, the #1 ROM in my thoughts for speed, smoothness and customizable is without a doubt kingrom v7. V2 is a tad better but 7 is where its at. I've been on every rom except Google edition and I love kingrom. Was on Batman for a time howver the overall feel and smoothness, was eh. downloads and everything else wasn't up to par plus my downloads were slow compared to kingrom and king has some snappy load times much like the s5 had on twist3d sixx rom. I do run a different set up/debloat than most anyone probably. But for what it is, love it!
Kingrom + king kernel + modded settings, my own custom splash screen and boot screen along with dual speaker with aryamod plus camera mod is simply amazing! I use the CSC BTU unbranded since for me it pulls the best signal for where I'm at and I love it.

Hi,
I recently bought a S8+ (Exynos) from a Korean friend..
It works fine but constantly ask for roaming cause I'm not in Korea.
so I tried to install Official firmware SM-G955F with Odin but it didn't work.
I have to install the official firmware SM-G955N again to be able to use it and also I could root it.:fingers-crossed:
It is possible to change the firmware from SM-G955N to SM-G955F?

SM-955x specs
This is just an FYI for anyone else that might read this thread looking for info.
It is correct that many of the SM-9500 (S8) and SM-955 (S8+) variants (US, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong) use the Snapdragon 835 chipsets but all of the variants of both S8 and S8+ that the whole rest of the world got all use the Exynos 8895 chipset. That's a ton of phablets. There's a lot of misinformation out there but if you look at the spec sheets that Samsung has themselves supply as well as the official Wikipedia page, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Another for instance, I've seen lots of sites that say the S8+ has 4GB of RAM which is only true of the 64GB version. The 128GB version has 6GB of RAM.
If you look around on XDA and a handful of other sites, people have flashed different CSC's with varying degrees of success. I have no idea where the issue stand currently, but I am working on figuring out what I'm going to do with my SM-955N variant right now. I don't need it working completely ATM as I still have my daily driver but I will be rooting (no warranty anyway since it was imported) and flashing. I am playing around with it and so far everything works great. I just haven't gone as far as getting it on the network as my SIM is one of those that can be resized to different sizes. It's currently a MicroSIM and once I snap the edge off to make it a NanoSIM I can't go back...without some super glue LOL! I'm not sure I want to risk that just yet as I don't want any of that glue getting inside my phone.
