Hi,
I recently bought a S8+ (Exynos) from a Korean friend..
It works fine but constantly ask for roaming cause I'm not in Korea.
so I tried to install Official firmware SM-G955F with Odin but it didn't work.
I have to install the official firmware SM-G955N again to be able to use it and also I could root it.:fingers-crossed:
It is possible to change the firmware from SM-G955N to SM-G955F?

No, yours is snapdragon, g955f is exynos. You can't flash firmware from that model since they have different chipsets

SM-955x specs
This is just an FYI for anyone else that might read this thread looking for info.
It is correct that many of the SM-9500 (S8) and SM-955 (S8+) variants (US, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong) use the Snapdragon 835 chipsets but all of the variants of both S8 and S8+ that the whole rest of the world got all use the Exynos 8895 chipset. That's a ton of phablets. There's a lot of misinformation out there but if you look at the spec sheets that Samsung has themselves supply as well as the official Wikipedia page, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Another for instance, I've seen lots of sites that say the S8+ has 4GB of RAM which is only true of the 64GB version. The 128GB version has 6GB of RAM.
If you look around on XDA and a handful of other sites, people have flashed different CSC's with varying degrees of success. I have no idea where the issue stand currently, but I am working on figuring out what I'm going to do with my SM-955N variant right now. I don't need it working completely ATM as I still have my daily driver but I will be rooting (no warranty anyway since it was imported) and flashing. I am playing around with it and so far everything works great. I just haven't gone as far as getting it on the network as my SIM is one of those that can be resized to different sizes. It's currently a MicroSIM and once I snap the edge off to make it a NanoSIM I can't go back...without some super glue LOL! I'm not sure I want to risk that just yet as I don't want any of that glue getting inside my phone.

The SMG900F is the best supported model if you like rooting, flashing and modding and It also supports the download booster. It has a Qualcomm 801 Quadcore cpu.

International is a vague description, but 900F and 900H would best fit the appellation. As noted above the 900F and a variety of other variant models have the download booster feature. You could check with carriers or search the forum if you want to learn whether specific variants also utilize that feature.

I've bought Samsung Galaxy S5 in US and now when I'm home (I'm from Italy), I figured out it's missing some features. Is it possible to install SM-G900F (european firmware) on my phone?
Thanks!

If you are going to do that, you'll definitely going to hard-brick your device, and that my friend is nearly impossible to fix even with the most experienced technician and proper equipment that you have. G900F & G900H differs on hardware. Different versions, even those that are hardware identical carries the risk of hard-bricking it if you flash a firmware not intended for your version, what more if the 2 versions in questions are vastly different.

Does it have FM Radio? I mean any version of S7/S7 Edge has FM Radio or not?
Thanks
I hope for your sake you purchase a Hong Kong G9350 (like mine) and not a Chinese one. Chinese one does not have Play store or any other Google services for that matter.

The G9350 has google play pre-installed already. No FM radio. Not sure what flashing that AP will do.

The Chinese variant of the SM-G9350 does not have Google play pre-installed. The Hong Kong variant however, does. If you get the Chinese version, you would have the flash the factory image of the Hong Kong variant to get Google Play.

Samfirmware and yes it will install Playstore for you
if you have the CN Version you will have to install the whole firmware
Hi,
I've also bought a Galaxy S7 Edge in Hong Kong, Model version is SM-G9350 and runs Snapdragon 820 CPU, but it is not clear to me if I can flash custom firmware on it. Is there something else I need to check?
When I press Power+Home+Vol Up, I'm able to access a Recovery Mode that says something like : MMD29M.G9350ZHU2APD1 . Does this mean I can install a or any ROM on my phone? If uncertain, is there any risk to do so if I try or will it just fail (without bricking the phone)?
Thanks for your feedback.
Aurora rom 3.0
I'm running this rom on g9350 hong kong variant. I'm in Canada on Rogers and it's working beautiful.
It has a bunch of custom features, (some are locked in Mandarin) but completely usable.
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-8320368-1-1.html
Has odin file which flashes a perfectly working TWRP, or zip for recovery flashing.
It seems to be the only custom rom in existence for this model right now.
Do USA roms work?
Hey, anyone know if using a USA firmware on a G9350 works? I bought it thinking it was an Exynos, but apparently I was wrong, I'd rather have my home carrier instead (T-Mobile).
I know this has been asked before, but it's been a year.
I have a friend who got themselves a Sprint S7 Edge. As far as I know the SIM lock is gone. Now he wants to get TWRP on it to be able to root it. I've been searching the internet for solutions and came over several guides that showed me how to root it, but no trustworthy recovery guide. The model number (SM-G935P/hero2qltespr) and processor are also confusing me. And as it seems there are no custom ROMs for the Sprint S7 either?
Im sorry if this thread is unnescesarry and Im simply missing something out or am too stupid.
All help is greatly apreciated.
there are 2 different methods depending on whether your phone is a exynos or snapdragon version.
which version does your phone say. Most us version are Qualcomm (snapdragon).
here is the link for snapdragon verion make sure it is the right one for your phone.

Its the Snapdragon Version. I followed the link but I noticed that the download link doesnt work. Why so?
Also, the guide I found linked me to the Exynos version of TWRP though the Model is the sprint one. Is it a mistake or right?

Hello friends!
I'm considering upgrading to a SGS8 and before making a purchase I need your help confirming what I should look for if I want to have an unlocked bootloader in order to install whatever ROM I please ans be free from Samsung's tyrany.
Please tell me if im wrong or missing something here when looking for one of these on Amazon:
-Model: SM-G950F or SM-G950FD (This is because these models came to the market with the "OEM unlock" option under dev settings and they have an Exynos chip)
-Running stock Android Nougat 7.0
-Bootloader version: ??
Got it right? Thanks for your help!!!!

Nobody here will guarantee anything probably, and neither do I, but I'd say that what you wrote sounds good.
You can send it back within 30 days with Amazon anyway
thanks mate, just looking forward an educated piece of advice from someone versed on the whole story and current dev state about this phone =)
I understand there is a whole bunch of models SM-G9500, SM-G950F, SM-G950FD, SM-G950U, SM-G950U1, SM-G950W, SM-G950N....
Some Snapdragon, some Exynos...
I understand its best to go for an Exynos one, and among those the SM-G950F, SM-G950FD.... perhaps someone can tell me why is that or correct me?
F & FD are same. They use the same firmware.
The only difference is FD version has hybrid sim slot (2 sim or 1 sim + sd card).
Whereas F version has 1 sim + sd card option only.

Definitely go for an exynos version. Go for a G950F/FD. What these people said is correct, FD is dual SIM version. they are unlocked international versions with unlocked bootloaders. There is quite a lot of development ongoing for these devices.
