The brand new user interface for EMUI 5.0 was inspired by the pure blues and whites of the Aegean Sea. The interface is simple and smart, and EMUI 5.0 comes with enhanced, powerful performance that allows mobile phones to operate more smoothly. A safer system also improves the security of your privacy, payments, messaging, and apps.
A cleaner, more interactive interface A brand new UI and effects inspired by the blues and whites of the Aegean Sea. Simplified gestures, with 90% of core operations completed in 3 steps
Enhanced features System operations more fluid, allowing you to view a massive amount of images, browse websites, and perform searches faster than your peers
A more secure system Improvements in the security of your privacy, payments, messaging, and apps
HiBoard HiBoard is located on the far left of the home screen, and presents suggested apps, lifestyle services, news, videos, music, and other apps and features in one place. It also automatically generates reminder cards for Smartcare.
Gallery By combining device and cloud storage, you can view images stored on the cloud and locally in the same place. The cloud gallery will automatically categorize your photos by people, cuisine, scenery, and location. EMUI 5.0 also supports slow motion video, and removes the feature where the Camera is launched by swiping downwards.
Camera Under EMUI 5.0, the Camera now supports downloaded plug-ins, giving you a richer photography experience. Landscape display and the interface for parameter settings have been optimized in pro camera mode. Online translation has been removed, and the QR code recognition feature has been shifted to the Scanner on HiBoard.
Messaging For EMUI 5.0, we've worked with banks and carriers to automatically recognize phishing links in fraudulent SMS messages.
Dialing With intelligent cloud-based data analysis, EMUI 5.0 automatically blocks fraudulent or spam phone calls and SMS messages. During emergency calls, the phone interface will display your geographical location.
TrustSpace Provides an independent app space, which isolates malicious programs and protects payment, finance, and asset related apps.
Calendar This is a brand new, comprehensive scheduling management feature, which presents Smartcare, Messaging, and Notepad in one place. It also allows data syncing across multiple devices through your Huawei ID.
Notepad Supports sharing notes as documents, images, and emails over social media.
Settings Eye comfort mode: Effectively reduces blue light, adjusting screen brightness to make it warmer and reducing eye fatigue. Huawei Share: Allows quick and easy sharing of images, videos, and other files between Huawei devices using EMUI 5.0.

Everything above b192 is beta!
People still think the versions they have got via hicare is final.
Hicare is beta versions all of it.
When you see a version that upgrades from EMUI 4.0 (not 4.1) to 5.0
Then we can begin to believe it might be the final ces on.
People on beta versions get new betas via ota cause you are in the beta program.

It is not the first time huwaei sent out beta versions to certain countries, this happen with mate 7, poland got lollipop very early, but it end up being the beta.
As long as it is just and your country, I do not trust this, when I see more countries get the OTA like this.
The fact you got this OTA when you where on a marshmallow beta version explain why you got this, no one that does not ute beta version will not get that, if you are on beta version you will get beta versions via ota. If you are not on beta version you will not get beta version thru ota.

I think we are all looking forward to see it in action, and from the beginning, one of the most important question:
Will this firmware be using Verfied Boot (aka. dm-verity) to protect the system?
because if yes, it will render the system unrootable on Locked Bootloader...
So guys and girls from ES, IT and NL ... go on, write your thoughts....
UPDATE 12. March 2016
INSTALLING
You can decide if you want to "install" original unmodified firmware by flashing zip file in recovery or restoring backup of Android M. In any way you need to be on pre-rooted latest Lollipop (v .264) before flashing. Reflash stock if you are on custom ROM. The reason is that this firmware needs bootloader and baseband from v.264 to work.
So to use backup of original Android M Beta:
This was kindly provided by @juanpirulo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65777398&postcount=158 and steps to install from @jjwrongjj http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/d6603-sony-official-android-6-0-t3312448/post65781545.
To flash zip:
There is flashable firmware available thanks to @masuods70 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65871019&postcount=440
For D6633 dual
Users of DualSIM D6633 can flash patch: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65877968&postcount=459
ROOTING
This ROM is can be currently rooted with /system R/W access on both LB/UB - need to root in recovery after flashing the system
To root both firmwares you need to stay in the recovery after flash/restore and flash SuperSU, byeselinux and RICdefeat.
There is no prerooted zip available at the moment.
THERE is NO RECOVERY for locked bootloaders.
There is dedicated ROOTING thread by bro @wolbreak
The first good news is that dm-verity is DISABLED on this Beta Marshmallow and it means that the firmware can be rooted. As @Black_Eyes found, rooting can be done with KingRoot v.4.82. However, the root is only partial, because it doesn't disable RIC service which is preventing writes to /system (thanks to @lee480 @shoey63 @EricCartmanez )
I am sure this is excellent news as surely guys are now working on RIC part of the deal.
This news also means, that it can probably be pre-rooted as soon as FTF will be available.
Annoying it's restricted. Sony really are going slow with Marshmallow!

If I recall correctly the lollipop concept didn't have small apps either. The concept is just that a concept. I don't see Sony removing any of their signature features like small apps or stamina mode. I just hope that marshmallow brings us the automatic Headphone compensation from the z5 since that can't be ported. I have tried

I think it will not have any changes there. What concerns me is that Google restrict Overlay apps by default so one should turn it on all the way on the Setting page. If Sony can automatically enable the setting, it's great
I registered for Beta too without VPN and got the Confirmation Email already, now lets see if they choose me again. On Concept i was invited to test already. I hope dm-verity will not be included but i think that it will probably be included because of Security reasons like in all new Xperias above Z3.
I'm on the current 6.0.1 concept. The Beta program seems to be incompatible with this ROM. I assume we'll have to wait for the FTF file or at least downgrade to official 5.1.1?

Short answer shorter: a leaked EMUI 5.0 schedule from Huawei claims the M3 edition of Android 7.0 (not 7.1) and EMUI 5.0 (with rumored much lower EMUI annoyance quotient (EMUIAQ)) is going into beta, and this may have already been released as of this past Wednesday the 18th. Release version is scheduled to go final in April and public in May. No word on if this is correct, current and not delayed, or even real. If you can read Chinese you may be able to glean a bit more info from the image.
Mate 8 users update to EMUI 5.0 over here.

I hope open beta comes soon, the 6.0 build is slow as hell.
I saw an update today, changing the build number from B002 to B003, but no other version info or specifics listed. I'll update tonight and see what it is.
Has anyone had success signing up for the Beta program & actually received outreach of any kind?
Also, has anyone from the US gotten signed up?
Thanks.

Wondering when Nougat EM5 comes to this device. Wish there were more hype and development on it. Love the device/hardware, hate the lack of evolution and EMUI 4.
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk
I'm on BTV-DL09-C100-B302 (a very advanced EU test version I guess) and it is very stable.
If you can find an android 6 EMUI 4.1 full stock rom for your region (equivalent to BTV-DL09-C100-B009 for Europe), you can always, while waiting for the official release, update to a very advanced test/unofficial version if you find one for your region also.
BTV-DL09-C100-B302 has been very stable so far and it offers a nice look and feel and experience. I do love EMUI and the v5.0. It's a nice mix between IOS / android.
I don't think the official release will be any different and better than BTV-DL09-C100-B302. Security and bug fixes probably but very fine as it is.
Better battery life so far, wifi, bluetooth and LTE and... fingerprint sensor are perfectly stable. Compared to B006, better cellphone signal strength and it's stable (or my cell provider has improved the coverage in my area which is also possible also).
Like you, I would love to get a full official Nougat EMUI 5.0 rom though.
mid May and NO update?

I unlock my S6 running Nougat with fingerprint and I noticed that on MarshMallow it did not require the PIN as much as it does on Nougat. I would say that Nougat has tighter restrictions regarding fingerprint unlock. I only use the fingerprint to navigate, partly because of this behaviour.
Over the past month, although I haven't been able to post to XDA, I've gotten a lot of interesting information which I think can be discussed here. I'd also like to report the results of some experiments.
1. Flashing P10 firmware to the Mate 9
Surprisingly, it is possible to flash P10 firmware to the Mate 9, and it boots. A Mate 9 can even be rebranded as a P10. Unfortunately, there is something different about the Wifi driver, and Wifi does not work. It seems the mobile radios, bluetooth, etc. do work, though. I wasn't able to test this very thoroughly, and I don't recommend anyone else does, as it's impossible to recover it even with offline firmware, but it would be possible in the future for someone to build a ROM based on P10 firmware, I'm pretty sure.
2. Android O
Huawei has an internal Android O build for the Mate 9. This build comes pre-rooted for Huawei's internal development use, which opens up the option of rebranding without ever unlocking the bootloader, and doing other such tricks. Apart from looking at it and seeing the Android O features, the build is pretty useless as a daily driver. Things like the play store can't be installed easily. The recovery which comes with the build has broken Wifi, and I needed to use a HiSuite exploit to get it to restore to previous versions.
With both of the above mentioned firmwares, the recovery system is different. The TWRP which we currently have for the Mate 9 does not work. Rebuilding the recovery image with the tools available also does not work. Something's different about the way the recovery image is made, but I can't figure out what it is. So it's not possible to have TWRP yet in either of these environments, which makes them much less useful.
Even more interestingly, the P10 recovery images which do not work when flashed to a Mate 9 running EMUI 7.0, do work if the Mate 9 is running Android O build, or if it's running the P10 roms.
It's very easy to tell which environment it's in, as the EMUI 5.0 Recovery has a light blue theme, while the Android O / P10 builds, and so on have a dark blue theme.
It should also be possible to flash Mate 9 ROMs on the P10, which would let P10 users access TWRP (but they would lose Wifi in eRecovery, making it very, very hard to revert to P10 ROM)
--What from here?--
Eventually, these updates will be released for the Mate 9, and we'll need to rebuild TWRP. A nice side effect is, if we build a working TWRP for the P10, it will also work with future Mate 9 builds. I'm hoping that the next internal EMUI 5.1/Android O build will have Wifi working in eRecovery to make it possible to do more research on this with an easier recovery method.
For the sake of research, I will upload and link to the recovery img from the Android O build. Feel free to poke around with it! Note that just flashing this to your Mate 9 running EMUI 5.0, it will not work. Hopefully TWRP based off of this can be made. I've tried and have not been successful building something which will boot, despite it being easy for EMUI 5.0-based recovery.

The only thing I noticed was a new files app, and some new developer options. I'm pretty sure it's just targeted for Android O development, and not for bringing any new features. It's missing all languages except Chinese and English, for example, it's missing a System Update app, eRecovery doesn't work, very incomplete.
Still, interesting, and I'm not an expert with what's new with Android to the point where I know what to look for, so if there's something I should be looking for, let me know.

Can you look for Android O specific features to see if they work, such as Picture in Picture? If you know how to use ADB, enter an ADB shell, then open up the YouTube app and start a video.
While the video is paused type:
input keyevent 171
This would be definitive proof that this is indeed Android O. We can try other stuff too.
Any built in apps from P10 that can be installed on the Mate 9? Is there an apk list?
I seemed to remember reading in reviews of the P10 that the camera hardware is the same as our Mate 9/pro, but with upgraded software. Is this something you can verify based on the firmwares you have? When can we Mate 9 users expect this upgrade?
Cheers!

Sorry, can't verify one way or the other. Although I did get P10 software running on the Mate 9, I didn't get the Camera app.
glad to see you here
ive also found that TWRP breaks the phone when you try to recover some partitions (/product i think)
hopefully things can change in the future, the partitions are a pain in the rear to play with
ive also read huawei wont name emui 5.1 on the mate 9 but will have the exact same features when upgraded (and will have the same 5.0 version)
Would you be able to share more screenshots of what you found?

I finally got a chance to try this. It worked.
Judging by your screenshot, you also got the Play Store and Wifi working, correct?

Wifi always worked on Android O, since it's for the Mate 9. It doesn't work when running P10, P10 Plus, or other newer EMUI 5.1 phones' builds on the Mate 9. The issue seems to be the kernel.
I sideloaded google services and managed to get play store working, yes.
Many are doubting that this is actually Android O. Can you show a screen recording of picture-in-picture mode being started from the YouTube app?
1) Start a screen recording
2) Open up YouTube
3) Start a video
4) Send the input keyevent 171 ADB command
5) End recording
That should put any doubt to rest.

Perhaps next time I install it, I will. The picture in the previous post is the result of sending keyevent 171 ADB command while running a youtube video. The video continues to run regardless of what you do with the phone, but I couldn't find a way to close it.
Who, exactly, is doubting that it's Android O?
Finally, FRD-L04 Oreo (Android 8) firmware has just appeared in FF and we are going to get EMUI 8 (Oreo) soon after testing it by Honor team and giving the approval.
A roll back package has also appeared.
I guess we will be getting it in a month time.
What do you think..?

Yeah I know, that's why I wasn't happy with the B397 update. Let's hope it gets fixed because the EU variants had an update that fixed the issue so I was really looking forward for the issue to be fixed here.

Yeah ik, but for us they skipped B396 and went straight to B397 from B395. I felt that the B396 does have the fix for that issue but even then we still haven't gotten that.
That's amazing thank you!
Iv'e been waiting for this thread to happen! lol
after many variants got oreo I started to worry
For someone with a rooted and unlocked phone, what would be the steps to flash this new update without losing the Unlock? Because I think it happened last time I tried it.

Hey realme fans,
realme UI has grown rapidly since its development. Our developing team has invested a lot of efforts. And now it’s time to share it with you.
Open beta is going live!
Before you participate in the open beta, please read this thread carefully to ensure your open beta experience goes well.
Please read and complete the corresponding steps carefully to get started with your open beta journey:
Process
1. Read the "Reminder" and "Open Beta Plan" in this thread (Understanding risks and plans)
2. Read "Attention & Instructions" and "Common issues" in this thread (Understanding update methods)
3. Follow the "Attention & Instructions" to set your phones before updating (e.g update to the latest version & back up data etc.)
4. Download and install application APK to apply for open beta
5. Read and agree to “Must-Knows” and “Privacy Policy” after installing the APK, follow every step properly according to the guideline.
6. Apply to join the open beta, upgrade to realme UI open beta version
7. Start your realme UI open beta journey
Reminder
There are two main purposes for the open beta:
1. Let our fans experience new realme UI features in advance;
2. Collect feedback to help us find and fix possible problems. Also, collect useful suggestions to make realme UI better.
Please note that as the open beta version is still under development, there may be some unknown risk & issues.
For example, some applications (including third-party applications) may be unstable or incompatible, affecting your experience.
Therefore, please consider carefully whether to join the open beta in advance.
At the same time, taking into account user experience and compatibility issues, open beta activities may also be suspended for a period of time.
In addition, before you upgrade the open beta version, be sure to back up important data on your phone in advance.
Attention & Instructions
1.To-do list before updating
(1) Before updating the open beta version, please back up your mobile phone's important data and confirm that the backup is complete and successful.
(2) Before updating the open beta version, please make sure that the current version of your mobile phone is on required version
realme X2 Pro- RMX1931EX_11_A.10
(To check the version number: Settings> About phone> Version).
If your phone is currently not on the required software version, please update to latest version first.
Please note, if the phone version is not as given above, after the application APK is installed, your phone will not be able to receive neither the open beta version upgrade nor normal version upgrade.
If such cases happen, the user needs to cancel the public beta application in order to regain the normal version upgrade.
(3) There may have some third-party application versions that aren’t compatible with Android 10. Therefore, it is recommended to update all your applications to the latest version in Play Store before updating the open beta version.
(4) Please ensure that the your phone storage is more than 5GB. Otherwise there will be a risk of update failure. (To check storage space method: Settings> Additional Settings> Storage).
(5) Please make sure your phone is not ROOTED.
(6) Application APK is not compatible between different models. Please install the application APK strictly according to the model i.e. realme X2 Pro only.
Feedback & Suggestions
(1) If you encounter any bug when using the beta software, please go to Bug Report board on Community to submit a report. Here is the link:
https://c.realme.com/in/bug-report
(If it is about Camera app and photo-taking, please remember to attach a sample photo for developers to understand the issue)
About roll-out
(1) We don’t provide roll-out method in this open beta.
(2) You can exit the open beta form the application APK, which allows users to exit the open beta before downloading the OTA of open beta version.
(3) After downloading the OTA of open beta, or after upgrading to the open beta version, users will not be able to roll-out.
Common issues
1. After the upgrade, it may take a longer time to boot for the first time, if there are too many third-party applications on your phone.
2. After upgrade, in order to improve the system operation efficiency and eliminate potential safety risks, the system will perform a series of actions such as application adaptation, background optimization and security scanning. so, the system will occupy more CPU, memory and other resources, which may cause slight hang and fast power consumption. We suggest that you can leave it for 5 hours after the phone is fully charged or use the mobile phone for 3 days normally, then, your device will get back to normal. If you still have any issue, please feel free to contact us, thank you.
3. In the realme X2 Pro open beta version, there is abnormal calculation of system launcher in Power Usage. The battery actually consumed by system launcher is lower than what is shown in Power Usage. This is caused by wrong calculation of the system, but the actual battery usage remains normal and not affected. This issue will be solved in the official version.
How to join open beta/ Guidelines
1. Download the Zip files provided below. Extract and you will find two APK files.
2. Install both the APK files.
3. Go to Settings> Software Update> Click the top right button> Enter Trial Version Upgrade, and choose the open beta for realme X2 Pro. As shown in image below.
Download the application APK
*For users already on early access, there is no need to join open beta (and no need to install the apk), please wait for the official version.
