I received my Redmi 4 Prime today and it came with a vendor ROM. Mi Unlock won't work with it, so I need to flash the China dev ROM in EDL mode in order to unlock the bootloader. However, when I issue "adb reboot edl", the phone reboots, but there's no red LED. When I attempt to flash the official ROM with MiFlash, it fails. I'm left wondering if it's a driver issue or if for whatever reason, it's not entering EDL mode. My Redmi Note 3 Pro displays a red LED when it's in EDL mode.
Can anyone help? Thanks.
EDIT: I tried a different USB port and it worked. I hope that's helpful for someone else. Still no red LED in EDL mode though.
Redmi 4 Prime doesnt display red led on EDL. It just shows up like Qualcomm 9008 on device manager.

Thanks. Have you had any issues with the notification LED?
I'm running the latest ROM from xiaomi.eu.
It doesn't flash for missed calls, regardless of which colour I choose. It only flashes for messages if I use the stock messaging app. If I enable the LED within Chomp, with Light Manager or Light Flow, it doesn't work. Previously, when I've used MIUI, I've used the built-in tool to change the colour of missed calls, messages and calendar notifications, but it won't work. It comes on when charging, however, so I know it works.
Bricked Redmi 4 Prime
Does anyone have any idea on how to unbrick a redmi 4 prime?
It's completly bricked and I've tried everything:
-> EDL cable -> doesn't work
-> Pressing buttons tutorial -> doesn't work
My driver is only the QUalcomm 900E, I can't force it to get the 9008...
I'm so frustrated I just want to smash it
If you have any ideas, I would be glad to hear.

I was in the same situation as you, but I've found this as a solution and I was SO happy I could make it work... You should try that out, hope it works for you as well.
He said the deepflash cable doesnt work, he is on diag mode (because he probably flashed the wrong rom). You need to follow this to get out of 900E

I mean I was in the same situation as him, because I've also made a deep flash cable but couldn't get it working for the first couple of times, because I was doing it wrong. You don't have to disassemble your phone, just follow the instructions in the post that I've linked in my previous reply, it worked for me.
Thanks for the replies, I will try 1st without disassembling , if it doesn't work I will try to disassemble it.

This and that comment you've posted saved my phone from hard brick!
The exact steps mentioned there didn't work after trying several times, so what I've done is (some of the steps are copied from OP):
Created a deepflash cable (tl;dr get a data cable and uncover the green + black cables. easiest way to uncover without cutting them is by burning the plastic)
Started the phone in fastboot mode (PWR + volume down)
Connected the phone to the computer using the deepflash cable (don't short the cables yet),
used "fastboot reboot" to restart phone.
Quickly short GND and D+ for a few seconds AND click both volume_up+volume_down, then windows installed HS-USB QDloader 9008 driver
I've flashed the phone with fastboot global rom and lost unlock status :/

I can't post this link, remove the space after the "."
But, before of connecting the device to pc, you have to remove the battery connector. One in the center, just above the battery.

i can enter edl mode by installing custom adb program (search on xda). simply reboot device to bootloader and run custom adb program, type 'fastboot reboot edl'.
EDL mode unavailable on new Redmi 4 Prime
Hello all,
I have just received a new Redmi 4 Prime from GeekBuying.com.
It came with official Global 8.1.2, but to make sure I was not on a vendor version I downloaded official one again and updated.
First, I appear to be unable to unlock the phone, stuck at 50% claiming a mismatch between accounts. Strange as I unlocked my Redmi Note 3 Kate without issues a while ago so the account is enabled for unlocking. I do have USB debugging and OEM unlock enabled in developer options.
So next step, I would like to try unlocking from the Chinese Developer ROM, but it seems it is impossible to put this phone into EDL mode.
I have tried from the recovery mode (volume up+power) but when I click the "download" button it just reboots to normal MIUI. If I use a modified fastboot command which can be used to send "fastboot reboot-edl" it also just reboots to normal MIUI. Even "adb reboot edl" just reboots to the homescreen.
Is EDL locked in newer versions of this phone?

AFAIK EDL disabled since 8.1.2 global rom, however I successfully unlock while using 8.1.2 global rom, by removing my other devices in mi account page and use account number instead of email/phone.
Btw if you really need EDL, you must create a deepflash cable. I only use fastboot to install rom, never had a problem, so i never had to do EDL.

Thanks for that. I factory reset and user the account ID number instead of my email address to log into Mi Account. I tried to unlock again and this time it worked.
Very interesting to learn that EDL was disabled since 8.1.2 global ROM.
I just got a new Redmi4 Prime with a chinese vendor rom on 8.2.1.0 and the EDL mode was 'disabled' but managed to get into it by booting the phone to fastboot and typing :
fastboot oem edl
Phone rebooted to black screen and was then able to flash global rom using the MiFlash program.
All good! Even managed to get root (to install AdAway) keeping original recovery by booting phone to fastboot and typing :
fastboot boot your_custom_recovery.img
TWRP booted up and then flashed supersu then rebooted.
Very happy with this phone!
no edl :/
guys, can't get to edl in anyway
deepflash cable not working. testpin near battery not working. testpin that is one and a bit up plus shield to the right- not working. got diagnostics 900e still. stuck at boot loop, MI appears on a second and blank screen. That happend after i tried to flash throught TWRP.
any ideas? fastboot working , but that gives nothing since locked bootloader i think ?
Hi all,
issue: xiaomi unlocker stuck at 50% (presumably due to wrong version)
issue2: EDL mode is not accessible, so no other version can be flashed
solution: log in to the xiaomi unlocker tool using your xiaomi account number, rather than phone number or email address. The account number can be found by logging in through the browser and looking at your account details. This worked for me and allowed the unlocker to reach 100% even though I was running a global stable 8.2 rom. Then proceed to use fastboot/adb to flash TWRP, no EDL necessary. Hope this works for you.

What are you trying to achieve?
You want to use official MIUI? Use fastboot and miflash, it works even your bootloader is locked.
You already unlocked I assumed, since you can use TWRP, then you can boot to twrp and flash rom etc or maybe yoy want to flash twrp on locked bootloader? In that case use official unlock method and login in mi unlocker using your account number.
Deleted.
After a while I managed to revive phone. But now when I want to go into "DOWNLOAD" mode to flash Global stable official rom, the phone simply reboots.
(I can't open separate topic, sorry, I thought I will be able as I wrote)

Hi Everyone
This is Guide how to repair your phone who was dead
My phone doesn't worked for 3 days so i get small trick and successfully repaired from dead
My phone was 5 times not worked like dead,Screen not Works ...only LED works, when i connect to pc usb device not recognized and nothing....
Explanation about my Problem:
IN MY CASE!
and the worst In my case Power button and Volume Buttons doesn't working so i open the BACK COVER eject the cable from volume button and insert small cable in slots to cover the pins like pressing volume up and down and finally connected to pc with usb
So we are starting the GUIDE:
1.First you need the drivers so you can get from this https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1T7tp6tJ_3kX3p6SUxWb2NfWTQ&usp=sharing
2.After you installed the Drivers go to. Download mode if not goes try this... Press Volume UP and Volume DOWN and connect to usb to your pc
3.Go to device Manager to view the Port ,so the port can be "Android HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)"
4.Download the Panasonic Firmware Eluga and Extract (don't worry this is the same like idol 3 only name changed)https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B01OmzpKE6vAVDhaSFN2aVFzaVU
5. After Extract you wil find EB-90S55EWLv1009.exe so run as administrator wait to load data
6.select 6045 and in the list down you can find your phone
7.and press the button "download"
8.So process starting ..indetifying your device you will get informations about imei..rooted or no .....
9.so automatically started to flashing the firmware (my it's go to 45 % and then i get error)
10.Don't worry press the button Reboot Device
11.and your device will reboot and you will view 'the screen powered by android and then panasonic so i get message Encrypted device just click the button "reset" and automatically device will be reseted and when wil finish with reset automatically reboots and wait to first boot you will get welcome screen set up and finished.....
12.So device successfully repaired from dead
If you want to go to CM or Stock for Idol 3
-i will write guide to unlock bootloader and flash TWRP recovery
-You must have Minimal Adb and Fastboot
-type "adb reboot-bootloader" to reboot into bootloader. The device should reboot to the screen showing " .powered by android". This is bootloader mode.
-Then type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb devices" should show some numbers and "fastboot" after the numbers
-Type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem device-info" shows device info including bootloader status (e.g. locked).
-Type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem unlock" to unlock the bootloader; after this you should get, for device info,
-Type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem device-info" and you should see "Device unlocked: true"
-You successfully unlocked the bootloader one step more to flash the recovery
-Download the TWRP RECOVERY FROM THIS LINK:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759881858
-Then copy from when you downlaod and paste the recovery in C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
-Press Shift in the directory and click Right on mouse and open command promt here
-Type fastboot -i 0x1bbb flash recovery twrp-3.0.0-1.img or fastboot -i 0x1bbb boot twrp-3.0.0-1.img (if you want to test before installation)
-so successfully installed recovery and flash CM Or whatever you want

problem with idol 3 4.7 6039K
Hi there,
I don't know if this is the correct section, I hope so, otherwise I really appreciate you can drive me to the appropriate one, it's new for me this forum!
I have an idol 3 4.7, where I have installed kingroot and after I took out (I didn´t reset the phone, Just unistall the app),
yesterday i received the update system message, I imagine for the marshmallow update, so I say Yes, install it.
But the phone entered in bootloop. I only have the initial screen with the options as Reboot system, adb and so on.
I tried to wipe but nothing. So now my phone stucked. I tried with an assistance center in Quito but they could't
My questions are:
may I use this system for 6039K?
Or does anybody hear about a solution in this case?
Should I open and take out the battery?
Please, any suggestion will be really welcome in order to make the phone work again.

Tell me info About your phone? Model,Country,ROM...../?
All is standard, no root, no twrp and the latest software from alcatel, the model is 6045Y. But all of a sudden my phone decided to random reboot and it didn't stop
So i looked to unbrick it and came with a couple of options, first i tried to sideload software but that didn't work, than i tried it with Mobile upgrade from alcatel and that didn't work.
Than i saw this thread and tried it twice but after Panasonic and the sound it starts to reboot again. Now i'm trying again with Mobile upgrade.
All that is changed is the recovery interface it looks now like it is from MM.

More Looks like Hardware Problem Try again with Mobile q if not works...Send to warranty repair.....
Alek, thank you for this great guide. It saved my 6045k model.
I was messing around with AlekOS 3.0, had issues with lock screen and experimented with modems. I managed to permanently disable secondary sim slot (was using famewolf's modem backups). I forgot to copy modem.img backup to my PC! Also tried bunch of TWRP backups with no luck. My last hope was Mobile Upgrade Q and reverting back tu 5.0.2. Unfortunately with no success (only one sim slot is recognized again).
Finally I found this thread, followed the guide and I can confirm that it did solve sim issue. The setup finished with no errors that you mentioned. It got stuck at 45%, but after a while (10min) it completed successfully.
Cheers!
I'm in the same situation as you,but my problem is that Panasonic Eluga doesn't recognice my devide, drivers are correctly installed,I checked everything but nothing:

Hi everyone!
I have bougth a Redmi Pro on Gearbest and it came with Chinese/English Version of MIUI.
After a week of usage, i turned off my xiaomi and when i turned back on, it stucked on a Mi logo. Far as i discovered searching on web, it was a bug that other peopel have reported too.
I took a opportunity of having this bug to fix, to put other rom on the phone. A rom with Portuguese language witch is my mother lang.
I tried to put the new rom via "SP Flash took" with the fastboot mod but without success.
I requested the unlocking on Xiaomi Unlocking site and when they repplyed and i connected the xiaomi to the computer, the program (XiaomiMiFlash) gave me an error message telling ""Couldn´t verify device. Current account is diferent from the account info in the device"
No i can´t do nothing with the phone.
Can you guys have some idea how can i solve this?
Thank you all!
There is a good chance that the phone is already unlocked.
What was the problem with fastboot? Maybe drivers issue?
Have you tried flashing TWRP? If it takes then the phone is unlocked and you can proceed with flashing the xiaomi.eu or globerom.

About the Fastboot i putted the phone on fastboot mode and i disabled the Driver Signature Enforcement on Windows. I connected the phone to the computer and started to run the SP Flash Tool. After the process was completed it wont gave me any result because the phone still stucked on Mi logo..
I did'n tried the TWRP because in every tutorial tells me that i need to go to the Developer Mode and activate the USB debugging i can not access to that because the phone don't give me more than the Mi logo.
hmm the fastboot method should have worked. Have you tried it on another computer, maybe 32bit windows?
When finished flashing with miflash in fastboot did it say it was ok at the end or did it give you an error? Als tried to reboot a few times after flashing without usb cable in the phone?

I'm out of ideas at this point.
I had some trouble with fastboot that my phone did restart when in fastboot mode.
Then i had to change the order of plugging in the cable and starting the program but after that all worked.
No idea what next ...
I had this issue with a Redmi 3. I can't remember the exact solution but I believe you have to have the developer ROM installed in order to unlock the bootloader. Maybe if you search for an anterior model such as the Redmi 3 you will find more information on how to load your ROM. I'm sure that it's the same method for most Xiaomi phones. Good luck!
I heard about do a Hard Reset but i dont know how to do that because i cant access to the OS of the xiaomi.
Is there a way to do a hard reset with the xiaomi stucked on Mi logo?
Tks!
Happy 2017 for all!
I tried to put my phone one Recovery Mode but it is blocked. Its like the phone on this video:

I never could get into the xiaomi recovery either but i managed to flash twrp through fastboot though.

I had this problem, but I'd installed TWRP already. But you shouldn't need USB Debugging on to flash TWRP. If you manage to flash TWRP, flash a new ROM (I recommend xiaomi.eu (I think they have Portuguese)) and wipe the Dalvik cache, /cache, and /data (you probably won't have to wipe /data/media).
Miui themes
Sorry will start new item
Have you tried a different cable, that is why mine wasn't recognized at first.
I'm having the same problem here. The phone rebooted itself when I changed the locale, and hung at the Mi logo. I already had TWRP flashed. I also took the opportunity to install a new ROM; the Global Dev ROM. It installed with no errors and I wiped the Dalvik, cache, etc. Still hangs at the Mi logo, but this time without the little loading dots at the bottom. Any suggestions?
Update: I can bring it back to the original state with the loading dots and "powered by Android" at the bottom with a backup I took before flashing the new rom, but still no progress.
I managed to restore my phone using the video:
Flash Xiaomi Redmi Pro Using SP Flash Tool [Locked Bootloader]
I can't post links since I don't have enough posts here yet, but search for it on Youtube.
Update: It seems like the unlocking permissions on my account have been retroactively rejected, I wonder if that has something to do with it. I also can't seem to find the Global ROM for the Redmi Pro anymore, just the China one. Does anyone have a link for the official Global ROM on the Xiaomi site?
Update 2: Suddenly I have unlock permission again, without reapplying, so that's cool. I installed the Eu HMPro ROM, everything's working well so far.

You could try dowloading the official rom and then download the CHINESE version of mipc suite then enter fastboot and connect the phone
Normally the chinese mi pcsuite automaticly detects the phone is in fastboot mode, you could use google translate to translate it all just choose redmi pro on model selector (the top selection bar)the text there is untranslateable just choose the one that says pro
And then under it chose the one that translate to chinese
After That there's two tick box under it, choose the ROM you downloaded
After that chose the one that translate to install brush package, if it doesn't work choose the download brush package next to it
Thus method worked for me when my phone bricked hope it helps you
EDL (Emergency Download) Mode has been removed/ disable from MIUI 8.1 onwards and Redmi 4A later Xiaomi devices. So you can flash MIUI Fastboot ROMs on your device by using Fastboot mode only, if your bootloader is unlocked. And, we can't use Qualcomm Jig Cable(s) also now.
So, we have only one way to know Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 port from PC. It's Test Point Method. This method will work with every MIUI ROMs (Upgrade/ Downgrade) , Locked Bootloader/ Unlocked Bootloader and also work to recover from a Dead boot device (Bricked).
While touching these two points with a metal tweezers plugin the usb cable to the phone and PC will make the phone enter edl mode. You can then release the tweezers.
Bro edl mode is not removed. It's just moved to fastboot. You can enter edl easily by "fastboot oem edl" command. Hope this helped

In any case, the bootloader muz be unlocked to initiate EDL using ADB fastboot..

What makes you think I'm so lame as well. I have used this command and flashed my mi max 2 with fastboot rom. Tho I don't remember if bootloader was locked or unlocked. Probably it was unlocked. But still no issues as anyone can unlock thier bootloader officially.
i wasnt intended at you. it seems they forgot some ways when they first deployed the edl blocking access but with the most recent "roms" they have blocked every access way to edl when bootloader is locked : adb, fastboot & cable
the only way left is from internal pins, but we can expect they will hide them even better on new phones.
Today it's much worth to wait 72h (+30days if you just already unlocked another one today) than opening the models that have "non removable" batteries and risking to leave traces/damages
it's really a shame that xiaomi lock their phone this way, it's a very bad message at the users (fastboot is so much restricted that you cant even switch between stable&dev anymore with locked bootloader) but we still have the chance that they allow unlocking and that this unlocking is a real one allowing full control
Fastboot rom isn't needed untill we brick our device and we can't brick the device untill we have unlocked bootloader. So basically edl mode will work when it's really needed.
It doesn't work for my MM2. Got it since 4/12/17. Didn't know i need to login to mi acc to register my device, set usb debugging, developer's mode, unlock status...I had the phone for less than 2 hrs after updating to MIUI 9 from ver 8 (using the updater app) before it suddenly froze up, crashed and went into bootloop. I tried contacting xiaomi svc ctr but those clowns refused to help saying my device is china export.
I cldn't even get them to help me register my device on my mi acc using the imei & s/n info. So if anyone could offer some suggestions as to how I could ressurrect my phone, I wld be most grateful. Failing which the only avenue is to bring it to a svc ctr in China to get them fix it.
Rgds
My test points don't seem to work
I opened up my mi max2 and followed the steps to short the testpoints but my pc doesn't seem to pick up the Qualcomm device.
Anyway to trigger the thing so that the Qualcomm device can be detected?

I managed to short the test points and got the Qualcomm HSB device on the device mgr, flashed the mi max2 with the latest global stable (V9.2.1) rom. But the phone is still stuck at the Android logo with 3 dots...
I wld have thought EDL flashing wld have wiped out everything on the phone and start afresh?
I am now thinking of formatting the entire phone and reflashing it again. How wld I do that?
Thanks for any inputs.
Hi, Does EDL with test point flashing refresh the boot partitions?
I have shorted the test points and successfully reflash the phone with the latest stable global ROMs (even back to MIUI 8.5.6) but just couldn't get the phone past the MI/Android logo after restarting it
If the boot partition files have been messed up and EDL flashing is not refreshing these files, no matter how many times I try to EDL flash the device, it's not going to help. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
Any other options I can try?

Hey guys,
now... i'm pretty sure my Redmi 3S is a goner and im f***ed at this point. Please read carefully as i tried SO many different things now.
(Short Disclaimer! NO! My Device doesn't boot anymore. NO! I didn't enable Developer Options or USB debuging... YES! My Bootloader is locked.)
Short story beforehand:
I got my 3S from Ebay and was pretty satisfied with it. After about a Month i realised, i didn't get any updates (which i should've just by Securitypatch date and a few things.)
So i found out that i was on a ShopROM which don't get any updates at all. Then i googled and found different tutorials on how to flash a new ROM.
I followed them point by point... But it ALWAYS ended up with Errors. After every "mistake" i tried turning it on which worked... That was until something went really wrong.
Suddenly i got stuck in a Bootloop. Only the "Mi"-Logo was on the screen and that was all it did.
Sooooo... I found out i bricked it. OKAY! After several hours of searching i came up with SOOO many different tutorials on what i can do.
One of the more popular ones where:
"just flash another ROM."... Jeah, didn't work. I got so many different errors that i can't even name them all.
"Bootloader locked, enable USB-Debuging in Settings (which i cannot do)..."
NOW i recently found another tutorial that involved the official "Mi Unlock App". So i registered... Wrote them my Story and a few hours later i got a message saying "OKAY. We give you access to the tool and grant you permission so you can unlock your Phone." Sweet i thought... Now... Time to get this to work...

Hell Yeah... I even tried FOUR different versions of the tool by now... The ones at v1x couldn't verify my device and got stuck at 50%. Both the v2x ones behave the same as shown in the picture.
Now i found tutorial that claimed to flash a "locked bootloader" phone. I had high hopes... Did everything as the tut said...
And i can't simpyl unlock it with "minimal adb and fastboot"
And trying to install TWRP also fails as expected:
So... as stated above...
Locked Bootloader, no developer options or usb-debuging, not allowed to flash because of critical state, mi unlock won't work...
Is there ANYTHING i can do now? I read about this "deep flash" method by i'm not that into these things and don't have the tools to do this...
The ONLY thing i can do now is WAIT. I read a lot that people have to wait for about a week or even two to use "Mi Unlock". Which doesn't make sense to me as they granted permission
and the error that comes up doesn't remedy itself by wating. At least that's my interpretation.
Thx for reading!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/guide-reboot-to-edl-mode-fastboot-test-t3398718
After that try Mi Flash again. And don't care about security patch date. Our device have old security patch from april 2017.
Dont wait for the unlock code becuase it wont help. Post getting the code, your mi ID needs to be binded with the phone before you attempt the unlock.
Try the EDL mode even if the bootloader is locked(you'll need a usb cable to make your own flashing cable that helps to get in edl mode on a locked bootloader).Lookout for the videos on youtube. If this also fails which i am pretty sure should get you going, the last resort would be test point method. Refer to the test point guide on the miui forum.

Hey Krauzaa,
thx for the suggestion... Now i'm not sure if i did this right... At first i did what the manual said and i think i got it into EDL mode.
For the lols i tried to unlock it without success obviously.
After trying to flash it now i got this error with every flashing tool i have on my pc:
(of course i extracted it before. It's not compressed)
I tried then to paste the file on different harddrives but getting the same result. After i watched another videotutorial i suddenly got this!
No error or anything at all... The problem, as you can see in the screen, the part "Nothing at all" continued. Even after nearly two hours (got downstairs and played Mario Odysee )
it didn't do anything.
NOW first i have a question:
By "rebooting in edl mode", my device restart itself and is stuck on the "Mi-Logo" screen... Only by holding Vol- i go to the fastboor menu. What is right?
I don't get it. On Every video i watched the screen clearly shows the fastboot logo.
BUT i tested it anyways with both states... And suddenly i only get the "Critical flashing not allowed" error again without changing the setup.
Strange.
gillboyzz
Actually i already got the whole unlock thing and permission.
With the "selfmade cable" thingy... I'll try to look it up but i'm really a n00b when it comes to things like this. Thx for the suggestion tough.

That method won't work for new devices... I.e. Xiaomi patched that way in new devices... Only old Redmi 3S devices can support it... (Very old ;_
Btw. You can go to edl with test-point-method... There you can flash with MiFlash without unlocked bootloader
To use MiFlash does it need unlocked bootloader? Didn't knewed that ! Damn !

All tools that use fastboot to flash images would require an unlocked bootloader.

I really didn't knewed that ! Damn ! I'm using land with unlocked bootloader and custom rom , but hell thanks for the advice ! The next Xiaomi i'de buy certainly will unlock bootloader first !
If u stuck at bootlogo and tried miflash u have to wait for some days after u got message of grant permission coz the server isn't updated once it updates in days after then try it will work ur bl will be unlocked once unlocked flash twrp via fastboot mode and from PC well will get enter button to go twrp and then u can flash rom same happend with me but I used twrp and fastboot it solved my problems again plzz wait for some days after granting permission message it would work 100% I got message and after 4days I was able to unlock and now m using atomic os
Bootdead, HardBricked Land
Same here or worse can't showing any sign , no boot no edl no led , no screen , only led flashing when charging and that too blinking
Yesterday I've flashed rom via fastboot , redmi3 and it worked like a charm
UPDATE: The issue was resolved and here is the [SOLUTION]first of all lets start with the problem, it doesn't matter if it's just hard reset loop or update loop problem, I actually did both, here's a thing this main issue comes with updates but somehow this time recovery mode was completely destroyed, so there is no escape you can only access fastboot which is a good thing in a way, follow the steps to unbrick your phone.
-if you can access recovery mode just download modified miflashpro and flash downloaded rom using it.
REQUIRMENTS: PC,USB CABLE,INTERNET CONNECTION.
SOLUTION:1. Install ADB on your PC with all the necessary drivers for your phone
2. Turn off your phone completely, press and hold volume down and power button together to go into fastboot mode
3. once you are in fastboot mode connect usb to phone and open cmd from adb directory and type in: fastboot devices (if device serial number is shown in fastboot mode everything is good so far... if not go to DEVICE MANAGER in your pc and check if driver is installed properly if anything ADB drivers and ANDROID USB drivers will come handy to install them manually)
4. now type in: fastboot continue
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5. your device will boot into system if it fails try going into fastboot mode and going with fastboot continue command again try until it boot ups into safe mode
6. eventually it will boot into safe mode system without your files being touched because nor update nor hard reset was completed fully, phone will be in airplane mode.
7. DO NOT TURN ON WIFI OR MOBILE DATA it will crash your phone, if your phone storage is full remove some stuff plus the apps.
8. Turn on USB DEBUGGING,OEM UNLOCK MODE. open file transfers and download apk of MIUI updater from pc to your phone ( LATEST VERSION ) and install it.
9. now DEACTIVATE AIRPLANE MODE and turn on WIFI FROM SETTINGS
10. once you got internet connection wait a little bit for all of the notifications and stuff to pop up be careful, once it's all good go to settings about phone and system update and CHECK FOR UPDATES
11. let your phone download the update it should be around 1.7GB depends honestly let it decrypt and once you are ready click on INSTALL NOW.
12. it will take time to install and reboot will happen many time you might think that it gets stuck at 90.49% but let it finish be patient it happens it just needs time, once everything is done you are good to go
WELCOME TO MIUI 12
SIDE NOTE:
I - MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS CHARGED
II - I DID TRY EDL TEST POINTS BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO OPEN UP YOUR PHONE NOR TO DO IT.
III - BE PATIENT
F
Unless you're willing to do a test point boot, take it to a Xiaomi service center, take a receipt with you or some proof of purchase.
You can try buying an EDL cable and testing your luck, I highly doubt tho since Xiaomi locks it's EDL mode.
got good news I managed to actually get in the system
using fastboot continue command it lags as hell but usb debugging is on
so from the looks of it recovery is gone
I am in phone adb devices are visible
anything that you might suggest ?
it took me three times to do this but it finally managed to do something
I think it's safe mode and this is why it's not crashing yet

Update:turning wifi makes it crash
UPDATE II: WHATEVER HAPPENS DO NOT TURN ON WIFI IT WILL CRASH AND KEEP ON CRASHING UNTIL YOU GET LUCKY AND TURN IT OFF YOURSELF
UPDATE THREE: I NEED A WAY TO FLASH RECOVERY WITHOUT FASTBOOT AND BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED
You said your device is locked? If it's unlocked try flashing TWRP, and flashing a different ROM so this doesn't happen again.
Careful of rollback index when trying to flash a MIUI ROM so it doesn't cause a hardbrick.

You can't force flash TWRP. You'll have to wait those days with MI Unlock, that's the only way.
There is this thread about an unofficial method of unlocking, I didn't bother looking tbh since I'm very sure you can't unlock it unofficially, but if you do find something then do it on your own risk.

Well that's good, I've never heard a Xiaomi update bricking a phone except MI A3 recent Android 11 update. So most likely it will work fine. Make sure you have enough charge in the battery.
Gotta ask, how did you fix it? Did you do a test point?
well it's not over yet my dude, lets see how it's going to update this one hopefully everything will work fine
well I did had to use test points for nothing lmao, plus tweaking with right drivers from device manager and stuff...
well lets hope it works out... it was a nightmare bud
