Hi,
So heres the thing. My s7e had a broken speaker (the one on the top for talking). So i sent it in for repair and they repair the speaker and also the entire glass-back.
Now when i got it back i first checked if it still has the same imei code since they changed the glasa-back where it should be written but now its not there anymore. So i checkedin setting and it still the same imei. But then things started getting wierd.
When i turn on my data it says LTE or LTE+ insted of 4G. I know its the same thing. But why has it changed???
Next thing. Those news, called Breifing, which are located on the home screen if you swipe to the left and if you have turned on.... Well its gone. There is no Breifing app anymore. Instead there is some app called Upday (which is extremely laggy, btw) and when i tried to find it on the galaxy store, google store and on google in general, I found nothing. Like it doesnt exist. Whats up with that? I want the original app Briefing. And all i can do with this one is disable it. Oh and i tried factory reset but its still there
Next one is even weirder. I got some Polish app installed on the phone called Player. I also cant delete it, but can only disable it. Factory reset doesnt do the job. Its just there. Whats even wierder is, i somehow after a long time, found this app on google store and it says its not even supported in my country, meaning that if i hadnt already have it on my phone i couldnt even install it. I am not from Poland btw.
Now the next wierd thing is Google now. When i hold the home button and it opens Google now, i noticed its actually called "Launcher3" in the Recent app drawer. What is up with that. I am starting to think that I dont even have my original OS on my phone anymore even though in setting under software it says i have Android 6.0.1.
Can someone please explain to me what is going on? And how i can get back my breifing app and delete upday, how can i delete that polish app, how can i change launcher3 back to google now? About lte being 4g i dont really care its just wierd because before it was 4g but whatever. About lte being 4g if anyone knows how to change tell me, please, but its not the main problem here.
I also added some screenshots for easier understanding.
I Hope you guys can help me and i thank you in advance.
Oh and also the Launcher3 thingy.
And that box of text where in the bottom right corner its says "ONEMOGOČI" it means "to disable". Like I said i can only disable that junk Polish app but cant get rid of it.
And also i hope i wrote under the correct forum if not please direct me in the right direction.
To me it seems that they have installed a different software on your phone, but don't worry it is the original one. Even for me Google is called launcher3.
So, if you want to have your original software back, just download the stock firmware for your region, flash it with Odin and then everything should be back to normal.
Do you still have your data after the repair or was everything wiped? Sounds like they installed some Polish software or something. You could try backing up your data (if not lost with repair) and then installing your country/carrier software via Odin. (Search on Sammobile)
I think that they usually wipe your phone when they repair but it doesn't matter because before I sent it in for repair I did a backup and then wipe it myself. After it came back I restored my backup onto my phone, but still this new apps came.
Well how do i do that? How do i even find my country's firmware and what is Odin and how do I install it on my phone?
And can doing this brick my phone and void warranty?
Oh and one more thing since you guy probably know. I cannot for the love of god turn off "Ok google" feature.
In settings I checked everything for OFF but still on my widget it says to yay Ok Google and it still activates if I say. And I swear I have all settings for this thing turned off.
Or they have flashed a different csc thats what happened to me when i flashed a german csc it was lte so i just flashed a btu csc as im from uk and all back to english apps and 4g symbol

Well then it is probably the firmware.
But anyways how do I change it all back. And have my precious briefing back and have that polish junk app gone.
I found some firmware on Sammobile. For my model (in setting it says my model number is SM-G935F). And next to that firmware was written also my country and my carrier MOBITEL.
But how will i be really sure that is the right one for my phone. There are also some other numbers like csc and pda and something like that. And i really dont want to mess something up. Im not really a tech pro.
And i am still worried this will void my warranty. I cant afford something being wrong with my phone and having to pay for repair or buying a new one.

Flashing original samsung software will not void your warranty because it is signed by samsung.
If the firmware on sam's site is for your area, you can flash it with confidence, only when trying to flash another region you should worry.
Okay. Thanks. So is there any good guide on how to do it?
I read a bit on the web and theres to much stuff for me to understand. Some CSC and PDA codes and some CSC_HOME that i heard of somewhere and AP, BL, CP and repartition. Etc. Etc.
I dont understand any of that stuff. Dont want to mess something up.

OFFICIAL STOCK Firmware-Update (Odin)
Ok thanks. Will look into that. If i wont figure it out i just go to the repair shop and ask them to turn back to normal.
Still, anyone knows whats wrong with Ok Google. I deleted the app once again and checked if all Ok google detection setting were set to off and they were but somehow that sucker still listens to me. And i cant turn it off
It might just get and update, briefing is now upday on my phone
I also got it from repair. For speaker. And also got poland firmware and i also have problems with google ok feature. Exactly the same. Still havent found solutions though

As far as I know at this point there are no Bell roms floating around but if you feel comfortable flashing, read the first few pages of the ATT flash thread, get comfortable with Odin, it was a bit of a different flashing experience for me coming from HTC phones, give it a day or two to make sure everything is fine with the hardware (I took my first tab back to Futureshop for exchange 24 hours later as it had/developed a burnt pixel right in the middle of the screen) and then flash away.
The Bell rom doesn't really offer anything that the Euro rom doesn't, whereas the Euro rom enables the phone features on your Tab, the speakerphone is excellent btw.
Quick question re your unmodified Tab, when you launch Swype does it have a Voice button on the keyboard, I cannot remember if it did or if I'm confusing it with the Swype kb on my Nexus, which does.
Thanks. I wanted to flash so I can get the arabic words to show properly, hoping we'd get an official firmware first. I bought mine from Bell.
In regards to Swype, there is a Voice/Mic button, but for some reason it's greyed out now, can't use it. Even though voice search works perfectly everywhere else.
What bell apps would you like to keep?
I see no reason to keep bell apps on the tab anyway - I have no PVR
So why would you want to flash it back?
Self Serve app is pretty cool app, but I think it downloaded the APK heh, but the reason is i'm just worried in case I need a working ROM to fallback to.
Care to point me to that Bell Self Serve APK? I flashed mine to Euro before I even tried that application.
Some version of the Bell firmware will show up on samfirmwares.com before long, once it gets out to the service centers which are usually their source for firmware binaries.
For instance, it was about ten days after the Bell Vibrant launched before any factory firmware showed up (and it was older, pre-release firmware), but the original "JG9" found on Bell units at launch day has never showed up (current JH2 is there though).
You can always fall back to the AT&T firmware, which is available just to get you up and running pretty close to stock again, but of course that might cause problems if you want to reflash it before sending it in for warranty.
Something else to keep in mind (but try not to abuse please) is the 30 day DOA period from Bell kind of covers your ass if you totally screw something up and brick it for real. Provided they have a replacement in stock.
Thanks for the info Croak. That was pretty helpful.
About the Self Serve app, I realized there was a link initially that took me to the market to download the app, http://www.appbrain.com/app/bell-self-serve/com.bellmo.selfserve, I'm not sure if this shows up for you. I'm still dabbling in adb, so I'm not sure how to get the apk off the device just yet :/
Note: The self serve app only works on 3G, not wifi. That would explain how it knows to my account info automatically.
I forgot ask something, in regards to the Market, will regional apps still show after flashing non-north american firmware? For example, the TD Canada Trust bank app. I remember I had issues with the MIUI on my N1 because it was a Chinese ROM. Eventually it was fixed though.

Hi xoltrix2000.
I also have the Bell SGT, but have no phone option what so ever :-(. Have the hardware appearently, but no way of using it. Are you able to use the phone option on your SGT? If so, how did you manage to get it?
Thanks for any info.
Since then I flashed the P1000JPJJ2 arabic firmware with no issues so far. It has the phone capabilities obviously just like any of the euro firmwares, tested it by using another phone line enabled sim card.
Thanks for your reply xoltrix2000. Good to know that it actually works. I'll have to read up a bit on the 'how to', get all the needed software and then try it myself.
I currently have a SGT with a custom JM6 and a modem which gives my full data and voice call capability. I posted instructions on this in the general area.

Hey folks, I'm totally new to this stuff but have been force into it by a "friend" who let someone mess with my phone that I left behind one day. Anyways after reading up on things here and trying a couple things I'm still at a loss as how to get my phone back to stock. I've tried Odin with new .Tar files(I337MVLUFNC1_I337MOYAFNC1_RWC) which got everything back and running but after that I'm honestly worried to do anything else that might really screw the phone up. I'm really sorry I'm so noob at this but I was forced into it like I said. When I'm in download mode this is what is at the top left
Odin Mode
Product Name: SGH-i337m
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection mode: Enabled
How bad is this and how can I get this back to "stock" or what it should read? Did he install a custom Rom/Kernel.... I really feel like an idiot asking this stuff ... I usually try and do it on my own but I'm lost here.
Thanks in advance for your understanding and respect, I would never ask if I knew what to do!
Peace
If you restored it with ODIN you're fine. I think you're over exaggerating a bit.
I agree, if Odin worked you should be back to stock.

Like I said it seems to be back to stock, except for those "custom" denotations, which I'm not sure what they mean. Also I can't get onto my LTE/3g data anymore. I read somewhere about changing the provider code via a play store app, so I'm hoping that will fix it. If not is there something to do with a .pit file that could have made it so I can't use my data LTE/3G?
Thanks

For your lte/3g issue I would start by checking you apn. Settings, wireless& network, more, mobile networks, access point names. Google your carriers apn settings and see if they match. If they don't, edit what you have

Totally correct my friend, apparently there is a "bug" that when updating the firmware you loose all the APN info it goes completely blank. Looks like I'm back to 100%.
As a side note though the I337MVLUFNC1_I337MOYAFNC1_I337MVLUFNC1_HOME.tar.md5 file you get from Samsung firmware that is noted as RVC (Rogers) actually installs as Bell (BMC). As I checked the CSC info as well as it had a couple Bell bloat ware apps.
Thanks for the help folks !!!

Just so you know, all I337m's use those same firmware packages but there's just different carrier bloat and not every carrier puts out the package with bloat. As long as you change the csc to your carrier afterwards it's no big deal, and I don't know if it really affects anything even if you don't.
So for a while now I have not been able to update my PRL or Profile. It hasn't bothered me because for the most part the phone has worked fine until recently. A friend texted me and said he was going to call me. He text back a few minutes later and ask why I didnt answer. Phone was next to me the whole time and it didnt ring or so any kind of notification that he had tried to call. Took him 3 calls before my phone rang and he got through.
I have applied for a few jobs within the past few weeks and have heard nothing from anyone which I am surprised because I was referred to one company by and friend who put in a good word for me and said that his supervisors were really impressed with my resume. So now I feel like this issue could possibly be costing me job opportunities and I want to get it figured out.
The errors are 6602 and 407. I've tried to do it over 4G and put my phone just in CDMA mode for 3G only and get the 407 code for 3G and the 6602 over 4G.
I am running Stock rooted/odexed MK2 and I just did a clean flash of the rom again clearing data/cache and dalvik seeing if that would help which it didn't. I have reflashed the modem seperately also with no help.
I have seen many threads of others having this issue but no answers on a fix. Has anyone experienced this and actually done something that has resolved the issue?
If you feel it may be costing you a job, why not flash a nand of a stock rom, assuming you have one

I did, I flashed back to MF9 using this http://www.rwilco12.com/Files/Devic...H-L720)/Stock ROMs/MF9/Full Restore/Unrooted/
Which should be a stock factory restore, still would not update profile or prl. From there I updated to NG2 with Samsung Kies and I am still not able to update either.

What kernel do you use?
(I fixed this issue I my phone, but SERIOUSLY, what seemed to fix it MADE NO SENSE, so I'm not going to to relate it again, you can look up my posts if you want, but I wouldn't waste your time. I'm more interested in what kernel you are using... if it isn't KT-SGS4, then it doesn't matter.)
Other than that, have you tried the ##72786# dialer code, which is supposed to reset that stuff (didn't fix it for me personally)? You may have to reactivate your phone though (I did), which isn't that much of an issue...

For kernel version it shows 3.4.0-2162929 which I'm guessing is the stock NG2. I haven't flashed anything else since updating through Kies to NG2.
I've done the 72786 dial code a handful of times and it still didn't help. The only thing that solved was a issue I had after I first updatd to NG2 I had no working 4G. Phone would only connect to 3G and that was when it was in CDMA only mode. Aside from that it hasn't helped with the PRL/Profile update issue I'm having.

Yeah, that does sound like a stock kernel to me. Have you tried updating it through the Sprint Zone app? In Settings, More Networks, Mobile Networks, Network Mode, if it is not set to Automatic, you can try setting it to that and see if it lets you update after reboot, I have heard that can help but did not fix it for me (I have it set to LTE/CDMA). Have you seen this thread: Galaxy S4/Note 3/Mega - Update Profile/PRL/HFA Fix for Sprint/Boost/Virgin Mobile/etc? It is complex (don't IGNORE steps 5, 6, 7 and 8, which most people in the thread seem to...). I have not personally used this method, I was planning to before my issue resolved itself, but I didn't have a donor GS4 either (damn it, I JUST remembered that I DO, I f*ed up the USB port on my first one and completely forgot about that! BLOW MY MIND! But anyways...).

Yeah, I honestly don't really understand what that thread means when it talks about flashing to legacy accounts. I believe I have a SERO account (I don't know, my wife pays the bill... :silly: ) and the updates worked fine until I think messing with the APNs to try to fix my inability to send MMS messages messed things up. I never flashed any legacy accounts or anything.
So... at this point, even though IT MAKES NO SENSE, I will tell you what SEEMED to fix the issue for me. I STRESS, this MAKES NO SENSE TO ME, but after months of being unable to update my PRL/PROFILE, after doing the following, I was suddenly able to update them. It is likely an EXTREME coincidence, but for the hell of it I will now tell you.
Using the Pro version of Solid Explorer, I copied the Carrier folder from the root of my phone to my external SD card. THAT IS IT. YES... THAT IS IT. NOTHING MORE. I did NOT copy it back, I did not change anything. HOW this could possibly have cured the problem would seem to make very little sense, I can only conjecture that Solid Explorer, in the act of copying the folder to my external SD card, somehow 'refreshed' something in the carrier folder in the root of my phone... and I am grasping at straws here. I think you can probably understand WHY I did not want to reveal that this is what SEEMED to cure my issue, because it is so unlikely, and more likely an extreme coincidence and something else happened that I am not aware of, but that is the only thing I know of that I did related between when it was not working to when it was. So now you know at least (and as I have told a few others, there is no point in not trying, other than the crushing disappointment of it almost certainly not working)...
I should add as well however, now that it occurs to me, that I use the KT-SGS4 KitKat 4.4 TouchWiz kernel, and had for a long time suffered from a loss of mobile connection and GPS. requiring a reboot to get them back (within a similar time period to my PRL/PROFILE issues). I seem to have fixed the mobile connection/GPS loss by choosing the 'correct' governor to use with that kernel for my ROM, and it is not IMPOSSIBLE that THIS occurred at the time I was able to update my PRL/PROFILE, but I do not remember exactly, and I'm PRETTY CERTAIN I still had the issue with the mobile connection/GPS loss after updating my PRL/PROFILE, so I think that likely rules out KT-SGS4 as a culprit in this issue. (But then, I was forgetting that we already established that you were on a stock kernel...)

Yeah that copying the carrier folder don't seem like it would do anything but maybe I'll give it a try. Whats the best way to root right now? I just want to make sure it will let me unroot the phone if it dont work and no trip knox incase I have to bring this in.
Do you know what bootloader you are on? You said you were on Sys MK2, then went back to MF9 and now are on NG2. When you went to NG2, unless you took very specific steps to keep the MF9 bootloader, you would be on the NG2 bootloader now, which includes Knox, and you can no longer go back beyond NAE I think. If you don't know what bootloader you have, get DeviceInfo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jphilli85.deviceinfo from the Play Store and under the Software heading, see what it shows for the last 3 digits for Bootloader. This makes a difference on the best root method.

I'm not an EXPERT on this subject, but if you are on NG2 stock unrooted right now, I believe you can use: CF-Auto-Root to root it. Or, here is a stock rooted version of the NG2 ROM:
[ROM][NG2] Stock Rooted NG2 (which mentions that it has Knox removed).
As far as tripping stuff, I'm somewhat unsure about that to be honest. I have always used Triangle Away on my phone, but it has a warning now not to use it with a custom kernel (which I use). My counter is at 3, but I am out of warranty anyway.
I spent a few hours on chat with Sprint. They couldn't figure it out so I'm bringing it in tomorrow. Guessing I'll get a new phone. The people at the Sprint store seem rather limited in their knowledge, at least they were last time I was there.

I guess if there are no signs that it has been rooted, that's probably a good way to go. You apparently had a phone pre-Knox and now I think you will get one with a Knox system, but it doesn't matter in your case since went beyond the point of no return already with the bootloader... I don't know if you have the new Spark model (tri-band), I don't know if the still make the old plain one like I have anymore...

I got the phone I have now about a month after the GS4 came out so its non sparks. I stayed on MK2 for so long because I couldn't find a newer rom that looked to be stable and not have to jump through a bunch of hoops to install it. The Odin screen shows everything being zero and offical software so I should be good. I am going to sign out of all of my accounts before I bring it in being I have a lot of apps bought through the store that only work on rooted phones. I hope I can get a tri band to replace it. My friend has a triband GS4 and it gets much better data speeds than mine.
Yeah, I mentioned elsewhere here before that I actually didn't know of the existence of the "Sparks" version of the G4. I screwed up the USB port on my G4 before upgrade time, so I had to buy another G4 on Amazon. Upgrade time has come up, so I was just looking and saw my phone listed as "Non-Sprint Sparks", which I thought meant that they called it the "Sparks" model because I hadn't bought it from Sprint... took me a while to figure out what that actually meant...
Sprint online nor the store could fix it so I got a new one.
No rooting but error 407
As titled, I've not rooted the phone. I'm getting error code 407 on attempts to update PRL and Update profile. Download updates manually does nothing. Note I'm on a Samsung Note 4, Sprint. Had updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1 late March but then above actions persist since then. I'm using Wi-Fi only, Sprint service disconnected as I couldn't pay bill when I lost job during a disabling illness.
I haven't been able to update prl profile or firmware for over 8 months. I am not rooted never have been I have called customer service over and over replaced SIM card did the ## stuff nothing has helped. The phone works although service isn't as good as it could be and says there is a prl update available but I always get connection error 6 on all 3. I also have serious battery draining issues as far as my data I do get a strong 4g lte connection just service is low and sometimes drops when I am close to a sprint tower every other phone gets full bars really on any network especially sprint. I hope someone can help I like my sph-720 other that that and honestly I can't afford to keep up with the Joneses. Hopefully this is enough info please help

Have you done a factory reset via recovery? Or you might want to flash latest full stock
Help this app can't be removed its a lojack.
It monitors the device and info to absolute solutions.

Hi,
I bought this handset yesterday from EE in the UK, it seems to be some kind of security software called Computrace when i try to uninstall it, it automatically re-installs and can't be removed.
It is built into the firmware in all new EE handsets, I called them and they said it can't be removed but at the same time has access to all my data on the device, i called computerise they said it shouldn't do that!
A quick google search showed that a company called absolute software have tied up with manufacturers to recover stolen devices.
It also is a backdoor for hackers to control devices
Mine is not an ee phone and it has it installed... im using their network tho
Anyone find a way for getting rid?
EDIT
sorry forgot im using a custom tmobile rom my bad.

Try to turn it off in the Settings > App Manager...
If it cannot be turned off, the only way to remove it is rooting your device.
This cannot be removed with root either, it auto installs itself.
I am really surprised this hasnt caused a big discussion on XDA. EE are installing rootkit's on customer phones and noone has batted an eyelid.

anyone found away to remove this yet? I've got a sim free phone with it on and want to remove it?
Yeah , if you install a non EE rom, you can uninstall it using the app manager, also someone made a odin file to remove the files, if left over. I will attach to post.
Note the file is for the s5 901f, so is possible wont work properly on your device.
This rootkit was making my phone go crazy before I got rid of it, draining battery, slowing down data usage settings and causing reboots.

Mine is from the UK on the EE carrier (biggest carrier in UK, orange and a big german carrier own EE so both carriers probably also same policy). Also its not kitkat only, also affects lollipop.
Thanks for the link, reading it now, and yeah computrace is up to no good, I had issues with my data usage data whilst it was installed, so it was probably spying on my usage.
So this happened:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/vs980-twrp-bootloop-botched-lollipop-t3072133
and once that was "fixed" i was able to use the phone, but it was acting funky. like dialing numbers was oddly laggy and while i can successfully call someone, it disconnects almost immediately and the cell network appears to be ... cycling itself for lack of a better term. i went looking at the various versions/info etc in About Phone and see the following
Baseband "Unknown"
Software Status "Modified"
Warranty date code "Unavailable"
The IMEI looks fine, unlike many of the threads i saw in a search.
any advice?
ok, so after doing like 11 things that didnt work, or at least not completely, including losing my twrp access at one point early on (scaring the piss outta me) i have fixed it with a KDZ using:
this guide:
http://www.cellrabta.pk/2013/10/how-to-flash-big-kdz-files-optimus-g-gk-g-pro-g2-and-others/
and this KDZ:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g2/development/stock-vs98039a05-kdz-lollipop-t3069041
it wasn't flawless, and some stuff didnt seem to work right, like at :
"Now click at ‘Normal web upgrade test’." the support tool opened but the option to "start upgrade" was greyed out so i went to "options > upgrade recovery" and let it download and install it on its own. oddly enough it looked (on the phone) like it listed both what the assistant downloaded and the one i chose within the flash tool but it seemed to work fine. i just spent about 1/2 hour on the phone with someone without losing connection so thats a bonus, and the baseband is listed now, the Software Status is "Official", and the Warranty date code is missing, or at least i cant find it again anyway. i lost my root, but i dont care at this point. no more taking chances for me, at least not till upgrade time anyway.
hope someone out there finds any of this useful, if for no other reason than to see why one should never tinker with something they cant afford to lose, especially when one is a novice at best.

Amen, Preach it
I'm trying the above right now- hopefully getting to a working phone by tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
EDIT- Still no download mode for me so I guess this is another dead end.
damn, sorry youre having even more trouble than i did, which is saying something to be sure. good luck man, hope it all works out for ya. if i had a clue i'd give it to ya.
edit: actually, can you still get into the phone normally? if so try using autorec. thats how i got my twrp back and i think it fixed my download mode too which is how i was able to finally fix mine.
