I just bought ZTE Axon 7 from china and it came with ZTE_A2017V1.0.0.B07.0 build number. What kind of ROM is this? I read about "U" ot "G" versions, but i have never seen the "V" mentioned anywhere. Is there any updates for this ROM, is it rootable?

The V is not the model number. V as in Version of the ROM.
ZTE A2017 V(ersion)1.0.0.B07.0
A2017 is the Chinese model, A2017G is the Global/Europe model, A2017U is the North American model.

Thanks xtermmin! I thought I had done that through the "Android devices manager" (my translation of the ZTE French translation) being authorised to lock a device or erase the data... but apparently this is not the solution...
It seems that I cannot find this Developer Options in any menu... and thus cannot toggle the "OEM unlocking"...
I have an option called "self Protection" , would it be it?

Excellent thank you! I was able to go into this mode, and get the authorisation for the upgrade from the SD card.
I have unzipped the B13 package, including the update.zip file as well, at the root level of the SD card, but when I select to upgrade from the SD Card, I am shown the directory of that SD Card, which shows only 2 subdirectories coming from update.zip :Meta-Inf and Cache... the various files coming from update.zip are not visible...
When I select the SD Card directory itself I get "installation aborted".
Would you mind giving me some hint (I brewse through the forum, and nobody explains the process in details...)... I am not a developer but owning a chinese Axon, I suppose that no update will come through OTA... (previously I had a ZTE Blade S6 and had no other choice than to upgrade from the SD Card, and this was much easier than on this Axon 7)
Thanks a lot!

You are right! I am not a developer , and I am not trying to root, just trying to upgrade to B13 from the vendor's site , like I did on my previous ZTE Blade S6... it just appears that it is less simple to upgrade the Axon7 than the Blade S6... knowing that Blade S6 was fully in English while Axon 7 still uses Chinese...
Thanks for your suggestions , I have gone through the forum, but detailed operations are not described...

I suppose this is a developer's password?
No, you just need to wipe data...
ZTE encrypts the system and data partitions, for the Axon 7, on boot but it seems to not follow through when you upgrade the entire rom.
OTA's are fine but complete rom upgrade requires you to go to recovery and wipe data...

Same problem for me : B13 is correcctly installed but boot requires a password to activate Android...
1/ I have requested this password via the vendor on Aliexpress... otherwise will ask ZTE directly
2/ I saw on this forum that someone advises to do a factory recovery, but I suppose this means going back to the previous ZTE release?

Use ZTE market to install gmail, google play store and google play services (you can install others too but these 3 are needed). Search for google installer on ZTE market.
Once these 3 are installed go to apps, Mi-Assisstant and then autorun, make all 3 autorun and you shoulld be good to go. Log into playstore 1st and update everything. When you try to go to gmail it will probably try to upgrade google play sertvices. Let it. If you have issues then keep trying, may take up to an hour , it's just not registered on google yet.

Good day. I am using a stock (not rooted) huawei p8 GRA-L09V100R001C900B151 running 5.0 lollipop in South Africa and cannot find anywhere how to update it to 6.0 marshmallow. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I'd recommend checking for OTA updates from within your phone (in 3 places as below) whilst connected to the internet....
Settings > Update > Check for updates
HiCare app > Me tab > Check for updates
HiCare app > Service tab > OS Upgrade Early Adopters
Please return to let us know if any of the above worked, as this will help other users with the same issue.
Click here if you need to download & install the Huawei HiCare app.
Hi! I have the same problem as OP (except that my software version appears to be GRA-L09C432B200 and I'm in Poland).
Settings > Update > Check for updates tells me "No updates"
HiCare > Me > Check for updates tells me "Current version is up to date"
HiCare > Service > OS Upgrade Early Adopters tells me "Failed to obtain data" (even though internet connection is working well)
Everything is as if I've already had the newest version installed, but isn't the newest version available for the P8 supposed to be Android 6.0? I only have 5.0.
@Im_Curious, you are right that you should have been offered Marshmallow (Android 6) via OTA by now.
You can try the manual method - look in this thread for downloads & instructions: Huawei P8 Official Marshmallow 6.0 [EMUI4.0.1] GRA-L09C B370 Eur Full [no wipe]
As you have B200, you can update to B370 directly (comments taken from the above thread):

Precautions & Disclaimer:
1. Before attempting, make sure you have done a thorough, restorable backup
2. Have enough battery power remaining (or keep it plugged in during the update)
3. Do not interrupt the updating process in any way (do not switch off, do not reboot, etc)
4. After updating, your phone will most probably not receive any more OTA updates (i.e. manual updating only)
5. If anything goes wrong, you could end up with a bricked/non-working/irreparable phone, which is your responsibility alone. So, if it is working fine now, may be best to leave alone.
Thank you! I don't have an SD card, though. The instructions don't seem to work with internal storage. Is it possible to update from internal storage?
Yes, you can try from internal storage. If you've already downloaded the file (unzipped it to Update.app) & placed Update.app in a folder called dload, use this method from the phone:
Settings > Update > Menu > Local Update (or similar)
The phone may automatically reboot a few times (this is normal), but only when it is fully booted into the standard system will the update be completed.
P.S. You can now delete the large Update.app file in internal storage to save space.
Thanks for the reply! I've actually got a SD card earlier today and upgraded from it, because I couldn't find a way to upgrade from local storage. After the upgrade, everything seems to work well. It's nice to have an up to date phone.

Review Apps Permission - MM requieres explicit permission to storage (SD Card) access. Check System > Apps > "Chrome" >Permissions>Storage (allow it).
Uninstall updates Android System WebView (update when it works).
Connectivity issue maybe related with permissions.

If Ammar_'s suggestions don't work, manually update to C900B170 first (link provided below), then subsequently to C432 builds as follows:
Make sure to do a thorough restorable backup if necessary before attempting any of them.
C900B170 - direct download from HERE
C432B200 - direct download from HERE
When on B200, check for OTA updates from within the phone: Settings > Update. If nothing is offered, you can further manually update to B390 (download & install the full version only - not the OTA update):
[Firmware] Huawei P8 B390 - GRA-L09C432/GRA-UL10C432 (OTA/FULL)
Let us know how you get on.
This morning I successfully updated my phone to marshmallow with the help of huawei south Africa. They send me this below email that I followed to the letter.

Please follow the below steps to update:
Unzip file
Copy file to a SD Card
Switch of phone
Put in SD Card
Switch on the phone
Go to tools
Update

I believe this is the newest update available in my country even if it is not exactly for my network or phone. So far so good.
Thanks for all the help!

As many of you probably know, the traditional way to flash firmware in a Huawei phone is to obtain the UPDATE.APP file, and place it in the /dload/ folder of the SD card.
With the Mate 9, this no longer works. The update fails, even if the update package is correct.
I'd like to bring everyone's brains together to figure out the new, correct way to flash an update. My guess is that it should be on the internal storage somewhere, since the Mate 9 Porsche will not have SD card slot. However, I've tried both the update.zip files and the update.app files in / and /dload/ and nothing seems to work.
If anyone can try and make a successful install, it will be a big breakthrough, so please, everyone, try!
Here are some firmware download links to try:
Chinese version
MHA-AL00C00B125 Full

http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1356/g77/v66711/f2/full/update.zip
The error I get when flashing makes me think it's down to the file version being used?
I can copy an update.app to the dload folder and using *#*#2846579#*#* and Software update it appears to validate the file, at least that an update.app file exists and then boots into the updater, where it fails at 5%. From memory, my Mate 8 would act the same if I tried to flash an older update.app file?
UPDATE: I can confirm that even with the same firmware version as the phone is on you cannot flash it by putting the update.app in the /dload folder, even though it does look like it finds the file. I'm wondering if we will see the same symptoms if we had a newer than B125 firmware to try.

I have found a way to load firmware. It's very tricky, but it works You need to spoof huawei's servers, so it's not something someone with low technical skills can do, unfortunately. Also, so far, loading older firmwares causes a forced reboot once the system boots up. I think it's to do with Huawei Account or Fingerprint, so hopefully I will resolve this within a few hours and report more.

I think its best to wait for the Euro C432B122 rom, it should come very soon.
I don't have a Mate 9 (yet), but looking through the code it looks as if it should be able to load the UPDATE.APP from a usb device (via an OTG cable) - /usb/dload/UPDATE.APP. Did anyone try that?

Here is a working L29 B122 downloadlink i found on the android-hilfe forum https://www.hidrive.strato.com/lnk/0KFjlD4J but the update failed installation
Aah well, we`ll get he update soon i guess.
Would be awesome to be able to get the european rom to work without any limitations on the chinese phone. I would love to help you guys, but my skills are very limited and hope you guys find a way that's doable for most of us
Huawei didn't pull the build. It's a DNS problem. It's only on their server in China, and isn't on their amazon co-located servers.
Set in your hosts file:
Code:
14.215.9.39 update.hicloud.com
And magically, the link works!
Can't be installed, though. With the Mate 9, I've tried HiSuite USB flashing (fails), flashing from dload folder (fails) and flashing from eRecovery (only thing that's worked.)
I've even unpacked a full rom image to try and reverse engineer how the dload folder works, but all I get is:
Code:
/sdcard/dload/au_temp.cfg
/sdcard/dload/UPDATE.APP
/sdcard/dload/update_cust.app
/sdcard/dload/update_vendor.app
/data/media/0/dload/update_cust.app
/data/media/0/dload/update_vendor.app
/data/update/dload/UPDATE.APP
/data/update/dload/update_cust.app
/data/update/dload/update_vendor.app
/usb/dload/UPDATE.APP
/usb/dload/update_cust.app
/usb/dload/update_vendor.app
And I've tried most of those locations, and while the update.app is found, it doesn't want to flash. Even though it's willing to flash the exact same stuff in update.zip format via eRecovery.
The only other way is overriding the OTAs, but it actually has a pretty strict security check at the end for approval with some nifty encrypted text, so we're screwed there too.
i would like to know the dload method still work with SD card OR not? anyone with mate 9 got SD card in slot already try this?

Thanks a lot for your support.

I wrote about it in this thread. You trick the phone into connecting to a fake query.hicloud.com and direct it to the firmware you want to download.

OK. I got that. But I have the whole update.zip package already downloaded. Is there any way I can flash it?! Sorry if I sound noob but this is my first Huawei Mate and am new to their firmware flashing approach.
Thanks.

Huawei didn't pull the build. It's a DNS problem. It's only on their server in China, and isn't on their amazon co-located servers.
Set in your hosts file:
Code:
14.215.9.39 update.hicloud.com
And magically, the link works!
Can't be installed, though. With the Mate 9, I've tried HiSuite USB flashing (fails), flashing from dload folder (fails) and flashing from eRecovery (only thing that's worked.)
I've even unpacked a full rom image to try and reverse engineer how the dload folder works, but all I get is:
Code:
/sdcard/dload/au_temp.cfg
/sdcard/dload/UPDATE.APP
/sdcard/dload/update_cust.app
/sdcard/dload/update_vendor.app
/data/media/0/dload/update_cust.app
/data/media/0/dload/update_vendor.app
/data/update/dload/UPDATE.APP
/data/update/dload/update_cust.app
/data/update/dload/update_vendor.app
/usb/dload/UPDATE.APP
/usb/dload/update_cust.app
/usb/dload/update_vendor.app
And I've tried most of those locations, and while the update.app is found, it doesn't want to flash. Even though it's willing to flash the exact same stuff in update.zip format via eRecovery.
The only other way is overriding the OTAs, but it actually has a pretty strict security check at the end for approval with some nifty encrypted text, so we're screwed there too.

If you want a simple explanation, here is how eRecovery works.
1. The phone sends a request to query.hicloud.com on port 80, asking for what firmware it should download.
2. query.hicloud.com sends it information about what firmware it should download, including a URL
3. The phone sends a permission request to download the files to huawei's servers. Then, the phone downloads and parses the URL plus /full/filelist.xml and gets a list of files. If it sees files which match the region of the phone, it recognizes it as a valid update, and begins downloads the files.
4. Before the install starts, the phone contacts query.hisuite.com again to confirm that it's allowed to install. If it receives permission, the phone checks the MD5 of the files it downloaded, then unzips the three files (an update, a public, and a regional file. Three zip files) The phone then tries to install them. If there is an issue (mismatch, not signed, etc.) it spits out an error and fails. If everything passes the test, it installs.
So my method of entry is emulating query.hicloud.com and update.hicloud.com to provide the phone with whatever zip files I want.

Thanks for the explanation @duraaraa! Shall I understand that both query.hisuite.com and update.hicloud.com share the same 14.215.9.39 IP?
I have only seen the IP (14.215.9.39) for update.hicloud.com? Is there a different one for query.hicloud.com? I need to know to be able to correctly modify the /etc/hosts on my router.
Thanks for your support.
OK, so there's a post nearly identical to this, with the CLEAR exception of it being specific to Android 6.x (Marshmallow). For that thread, go HERE.
DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY OF THE BELOW STEPS ON MARSHMALLOW. THIS IS FOR ANDROID 7.X (NOUGAT ONLY)
OK, quick backstory. Like the other link, none of this is my work and all the people whom I've worked with and confirmed each step of these instructions are working and validated are here:
spotting, clsA, Atarii, faizalotai, BonezMontana, schluk and Sheldd. This is NOT my work, this is the combination of all these guys help. Thank them! If you need any help, please post here. I'll help the best I can, but I've got a 15 month old and between changing diapers and RAGING FITS due to lack of Cheddar Goldfish, I spend my side time flashing like crazy. PLEASE assume all risk and responsibility when following the instructions below. If you mess up, ask for help. I'm not liable. Neither are the guys you should be thanking above for this!
Cheers!
This process assumes the following: You're on stock Android 7 (Nougat) with no modifications.
Basic steps are:
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Flash TWRP
3. Flash SuperSU
4. Fix your BT/NFC (if you have issues)
5. There is extra instruction here as well for AdAway and V4A (Viper4Android)
Unlock the bootloader
Follow this link to unlock your bootloader.
1. Go to Huawei's EMUI site and log in. If you need to create a new account, do so. Link here: http://www.emui.com/en/plugin/hwdownload/download
2. Click on the DOWNLOAD link at the top of the site.
3. Underneath the search field you will see a green link that says "Unlock Bootloader". Click it and follow the instructions. You will be asked to enter in several pieces of information about your phone.
4. Once you've filled out all the information, you will receive your unlock code at the bottom of the screen. Write this down and save it. This number will NEVER change.
5. On your Honor 8, go to Settings > About and tap on the Build Number seven times until you unlock the Developer Settings.
6. In Developer Settings, check Enable OEM Unlock.
7. Scroll down a bit more and check USB Debugging.
8. Go to Huawei's site and download their HiSuite and install it. This installs the OFFICIAL Honor 8 USB driver. Link here: http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/..._en/index.html Once the app is installed, you can unselect start with Windows under settings.
9. Plug in your Honor 8 with the provided USB cable. Give it about 45 seconds to install the driver and recognize it. You may need to go to your phone and tap on "Allow File Access". You will be presented with a question asking if you'd always like to trust the computer you just connected to. Select yes, if this is your primary computer you will be working with.
10. Now download the most up to date ADB drivers. A Google employee has created one link to get that and make it easy. Link here: https://developer.android.com/studio...orm-tools.html
11. Open the zip file you just downloaded and create a folder on your computer easy to get to (I recommend c:\ADB) and paste those files there so they are extracted.
12. Now open the folder up in Windows Explorer if you closed it and hold down the Shift key and RIGHT click in the open area and click "Open command window here"
13. Type adb devices and hit enter. You should see a device ID as a response in the window.
14. Type adb reboot bootloader and hit enter. Give it a couple of seconds and the phone will load the bootloader.
15. Now type fastboot devices and hit enter. You should see your device ID appear again.
16. LAST CHANCE before it wipes everything and unlocks the booloader!!! Type fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXXXXX (where XXXXXXXXXX is the unlock code you received on step 4) and hit enter. It will ask if you're sure. Once this is done, the phone will wipe your data, unlock the phone and reboot. Your Honor 8's bootloader is now unlocked.

Flash TWRP
Grab a working copy of TWRP here.
1. Download TWRP into the same folder you used in the steps above (where you're keeping all your files)
2. Navigate in Windows Explorer to this location and hold down the Shift key and RIGHT click in the open area and click "Open command window here"
3. Type adb devices and hit enter. You should see a device ID as a response in the window.
4. Type adb reboot bootloader and hit enter. Give it a couple of seconds and the phone will load the bootloader.
5. Now type fastboot devices and hit enter. You should see your device ID appear again.
6. Type fastboot flash recovery frd-twrp.img and hit enter.
7. Once this is complete, unplug your phone.
8. Hold Volume UP and Power at the same time. Release ONLY the Power button after the blue Honor logo appears.
9. You now are booted into TWRP and it's been successfully flashed.

Fix your BT/NFC (if you have issues)
Some people are stating that after flashing this fix that they lose their keyboard. I'm throwing up a link here to get the latest GBoard.apk file.
Follow these instructions to fix BT/NFC issues.
This file is for the FRD-L04 ONLY.
Instruction for AdAway
Follow these instructions to get AdAway working. This is only instruction, NOT where to download. I suggest F-Droid. Use Google.
Instruction for V4A (Viper4Android)
Follow these instructions to get Viper working on Nougat.
How multiple people have successfully gone back to MM if they have too many issues with Nougat.
Follow these instructions to get back to MM. Breathe.. it's actually not that bad at all.
You can find the OFFICIAL files to download on the Honor Support site located HERE.
Hi, i suggest removing the code tags and add the quote one instead so that people wont have to scroll down and scroll sideways too
Thanks for the sum-up! This thread gave me enough confidence to tweak my Honor8 on Nougat.
I'll try to get Adaway tonight, and will report any problems
EDIT: After flashing the update_data_full_hw_usa.zip to get BT and NFC, I only got NFC back. Can't turn on BT.
I reformated data to f2fs and reflashed supersu then update_data_full_hw_usa.zip but it's even worse, I don't have NFC. @joesee, any idea what went wrong?
=> considering a rollback now...
I already have 2 zips for viper which just needs to install and then set selinux to permissive and no struggle with installation if u have busy box

Yeah, there were a lot of people including myself that had issues with that not working unless we renamed that audio_effects.conf file. To test, I even tried the standard apk file to try to install because I really hate the new EQ layout of the version 2.5. It is such a pain in the butt to scroll over just to adjust a frequency!

Well I've went through this process three times myself back when I was trying to figure it out. There's at least two other threads that say the data partition needs formatted to f2fs. I don't know if the formatting of the data partition has anything to do with it or not to be honest because right now my data partition is ext4 and I don't have issues. Before you roll back, try doing a factory reset and just letting that process reformat on it's own and see if that resolves. If it does, I'll update the OP and just take that part out.
It was only put there because several people said that it was a better format and more efficient, so I'm not sure!

After the factory reset, NFC is back, but BT cannot be turned on.
From what I understood, do I need to make sure to have an ext4 data partition to rollback to MM ?
Thanks for the answer

Okay thank you.
Just for information, it looks like my firmware version is now B320 while I had the B360 before. Probably due to the flashing of update_data_full_hw_usa.zip
Regarding the rollback procedure (which I'm doing for the 1st time), while everybody mention that i should put the dload folder in the sdcard, the huawei pdf document indicates that I should put it in the internal storage
Is huawei mistaken or am I mixing things?

Either or will work for the dload folder. I've flashed both actually. Might be better to put it on the SD instead of internal so it's easier to format. Your choice, really.
Regarding the firmware versions, I think the OTA brought it up to 360 and that update data is a zip created from 320. Don't quote me on that, though.

So I rollbacked to MM using Huawei's official packages.

Yes,
when rolling back to MM, I also noticed that TWRP was replaced by the stock recovery. I'm not yet certain but the bootloader is probably locked now.
I think I lost BT because i flashed a data zip prior to the firmware version I was using.
But I remain curious, I think i'll try to update to Nougat again and retry all of this again.
Please, link downloadable files directly. If You write a complete tutorial, the peoples won't need to read another one, to point a final link, where he at least download the suggested files.
Please, short this way.
For what it's worth, I only had to flash this file from TWRP to get the apps back and fix nfc and bt on my l04. It's the data file for the newest b360. http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...09/f1/full/hw/usa/update_data_full_hw_usa.zip
Oh, the keyboard wasn't working... So I texted myself my email and password from my lady's phone, copied and pasted that in to get into the Play Store, opened up my apps and installed my favorite keyboard. Now to mess it up some more...

Yes, first download & install C470B200 for GRA-UL00 from the Huawei/Australia site: http://consumer.huawei.com/au/support/mobile-phones/p8-au-sup.htm
Direct download link (1.67Gb): http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=79564&siteCode=au
Backup your phone - texts, contacts, personal files, photos, music, videos, etc as applicable.
Unzip the downloaded file & copy the resulting single large file (possibly Update.app) to the phone's external microSD card. Disconnect phone from PC, then go to Settings > Update > Update from SD card (or something similar).
This is still only Lollipop, but once on B200 one can usually safely update to Marshmallow directly.
Once the update is complete & you check the phone functions normally, confirm that the end of the build number (in Settings > About phone) now has B200. You should also delete the large update file from the SD card. Check if there are any newer updates via OTA, using Settings > Update > Check for updates.
If there are no new updates found via the above method, check with Firmware Finder. Are there any offered? If yes, it should be a Marshmallow one (if none offered, let us know). Download the latest FULL update file (not the OTA), unzip it to Update.app & copy this to a folder named 'dload' on your external microSD card (if this folder doesn't exist, manually create it). Disconnect phone from PC, then use the phone's dialler to type *#*#2846579#*#* to access the Project Menu. Finally select 4. Software Upgrade > 1. SDCard Upgrade.
From now on, you'll need to use this dload-dialler method to install newer updates.
Wow that is awesome reply, thanks so much, I'll give a shot tomorrow and let you know. Cheers
Hi, the security patch level is 5 may 2017.
I have downloaded the file and put onto sd card. It was the update.app file that was extracted. It was in a folder called dload but just copy pasted the update.app file.
I try to do local update and it cant find it. Says...unable to find update package. Please download the package and copy to your sd card or the /dload directory in your internal storage.
Not sure what to do, i have just over 4gb on phone storage avail, should i do the /dload update?

Hi, I'm in NZ with a GRA-L09. Your problem I think is you need to debrand your phone to an open market version.
(For the L09 that is C432) I was stuck like you are waiting for local carriers to provide updates but they'd rather sell you a new phone. The guide on here hopefully apples to the UL00 too. Only word of caution would be too check the carrier bands are compatible.
Edit: looks like C185 is open version but I could be wrong, latest is B390.
Sent from my HUAWEI GRA-L09
thanks wbrambley, I think i will leave like it is. probably sell it soon i reckon. It is open branded, bought outright. Not and never locked to any network.
Cheers for all help guys.

Have updated all good - now showing GRA-UL00C470B200
Cannot find any updates for either of the methods suggested to take it any further towards marshmallow.

Ok, don't worry, That's why I mentioned in an earlier post, "if none offered, let us know".
What you need to install next is a Marshmallow C636 build (Southern Pacific region) - note that here you are moving from C470, which is not normally recommended. But it'll work fine as the region (SP) is identical (only the Cxxx code changes), & also as confirmed by namaiki in this forum thread (view last couple of posts).
For further confirmation, also view attached screenshot below from the download source.
Delete the B200 update file in the dload folder.
Direct, full download for GRA-UL00 C636B361 (Marshmallow): http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=91443&siteCode=sg
Here, as it's going to be a 'forced' update, follow the dload-dialler method to install as mentioned in post #2.
Once it completes, check for an OTA update (Settings > Update > Check for update). If nothing, you can proceed to install the latest found by Firmware Finder (FF), which is C636B372 (confirm for yourself in FF).
Delete the B361 update file in the dload folder.
Direct, full download for GRA-UL00 C636B372: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G985/g104/v88000/f1/full/update.zip
Again, use the dload-dialler method to install. After completion, can you confirm the security patch level date - it should be June 2017.
ok, so have done the first update B361 - it actually started upgrade for a while, then said incompatability with customization information. Please download the correct update package - reboot.
So I rebooted, phone was completely wiped (no dramas), and set it up again. Couldn't do australia, so chose usa over english UK.
Now it shows following:
Model Number: GRACE
Build Number: GRA - C900B361
EMUI version EMUII 4.0.1
Android Version 6.0
Android Security patch level Juni 1 2016
I have noticed that right down the bottom of that screen it used to have a custom version (numbers and letters).
It's not there anymore.
Anyways i will try for the next update you mentioned now.
All good - did the update B372. I assume all is ok. model number GRACE
Build Number GRA-C900B372 (why does it not show the UL00?
EMUI 4.0.3
Android Version 6.0
Android security patch level July 1, 2017
Think it all seems good. Any chance of Nougat lol ?? Just kidding.
Cheers for all help, much appreciated. Not sure if anymore to do now, seem fine.

Only other thing is when setting up, no mention of australia. Can only choose English (UK) or English (US). Then amongst the next selections is no australia etc. Any ideas?
Righto - lots of issues now. cant sign into google or anything at all actually. for example, trying to sign into google - just goes in a loop to sign in. cant even get past the next button.
Other stuff crashing. bluetooth doesnt seem to be working.
Should I somehow go back to another version?
Sorry to hear about the issues. Just goes to show that sometimes what works for one doesn't always work for everyone else (this is rare though it would appear).
The changes you see in 'About phone' is because you installed a different Cxxx build.
Revert to the working B361 update by reinstalling it via the dload-dialler method.
So replace the B372 update file with B361 & run the update steps.
If all works well (apart from the visual changes), only attempt OTA updates from now. In other words, don't use FF to find & install updates.
That's ok, it happens. My problem is I can't even get my pc to show the sd card now to put the update file on. All I get is GRACE showing in my pc, and I open that, there is no files. Can't copy paste or anything, or even create new folder, very weird. This is via usb cable.
Trying to find a adapter for the micro sd card.
Any thoughts, sorry to be a pest.

Yeah, sometimes it happens to me as well - try disconnecting & reconnecting. Otherwise the adapter (or cardreader) method should work.
ok, so finally got the file to sd card, and installed via dialler GRA-UL00 C636B361 (Marshmallow). All working good.
still a bit confused as to why it shows in about phone GRA-C900B361 and not the UL00 part.
As android security patch is now 2016, should i go back to GRA-UL00C470B200.
I wanted really to update this phone to sell it, but not sure if it is still same region south pacific/asia etc. Sorry for all the dumb questions, still learning.
Cheers

I know you said not to use firmware finder etc, just had a look out of curiosity, and attached image is showing - worth a try or not?

It shows the C900 'cause you have flashed a rom with different CUST partition from the original one. This is the reason why you are having those bugs. My advice for you is to extract the CUST image from GRA-UL00C636B361 with HuaweI Update extarctor and flash It in fastboot with the command "fastboot flash cust CUST.IMG".
Bought an Axon 7 from China 1.5 years ago. Very satisfied with it, but only got 2 OTA. Last one a couple of months ago. I tried in vain to identify the type. It is marked A2017 on backside. Buildnumber is ZTE_A2017CTJMV1.0.0B04. Is it possible to upgrade manually to Nougat?

That is really weird. But of course it is possible
Look, there are three ways to do this. You have the official method, which involves downloading the OTA yourself from the support page, unzipping it, putting it on the internal storage or SD and going to Updates to apply it. This one might fail. Then there's the TWRP way, but you need to unlock the bootloader. And then there's the MiFlash way, where you don't need unlocked bootloader and it will not fail, but it's a little bit of an extreme...
For now, do this:
http://devicedownload.zte.com.cn/support/product/201606031040/sd/20171009174830988.zip
Download that file and unzip it. There will be a file called "update.zip" and maybe a pdf inside. Take the update.zip and put it in the root of the internal storage. Then go to settings -> Updates, and it should detect it. Install it
Thank You
Thanks,
Downloaded and extracted the update.zip file. Put in the root of SD. Tried the system update. Got answer "Software is up to date" But nothing happens.

Try putting on the internal storage (not the SD card). If it still does not appear, then try updating through the stock recovery. That should work.
EDIT: just to be clear, you did not extract the contents of the update.zip, did you? You need to put the actual update.zip on the internal storage (you can try on the external sd card). As mentioned by choose an username, check the update.zip you downloaded. It it contains another update.zip, that is the file you need. You may have already done this, but I have seen others still get it wrong...
EDIT 2: that being said, your current version number seems strange. I wonder if that is the problem. Maybe the version you are trying to install is not compatible and therefore not seen by the system.

That's the point. I wanted to see if the normal update could go normally or not. Next step is MiFlash
At least we know it's an A2017...

Right...

The file "update.zip" contains 29 sub files, none of them was named update.zip.
No I did not unzip it.
This time I put the "update.zip" in the root of the phone folder. But nothing happened when I run the Settings»update.
How do I post screen shots in this forum?

Okay. Put it in the SD card. Then turn the phone off.
After it is completely off, hold Volume Up + power until the zte screen appears. You should get into the stock recovery.
Now, the stock recovery will most probably be in chinese, but you have to use an option that says 'sd' between a bunch of chinese stuff. It's easy to spot. Scroll to that option with the volume keys and select it with Power. The contents of the SD card will appear. Select the update.zip and see if it works or not.

Nothing. If you use MiFlash they will get erased, but not this way.
Think about it this way; doing this from the Updates section actually issues a command that gets you into the recovery to flash the file. So basically you skip the Updates part.
Please tell me if the recovery is in chinese later

Also a small FYI:
-Contacts are backed up on your Google account, and even if you don't have one you can export all of your contacts to a .vcf file, then back it up, and then import it once you finish
-Apps... Just download them again. You can backup the 'Android' folder that's on your internal storage, most games save their data there.
-Bank ID? Isn't that just a log in?
I format my zte axon 7 A2017G and now am stock on WiFi(when ever I tap next it will load then return to WiFi) and it seems the phone is locked by zte please how do I unlock it
