[Q] Rooting and HBOOT question

Rooting and HBOOT question
Hi,
I have a STock Legend with Vodafone Froyo. Is it possible to downgrade my HBOOT and flash the AlphaRev HBOOT to get r/w on /System?
If yes, could it be possible to root it after that? Or is the only possible root for the Legend a modified ROM?
HBOOT cannot be downgraded. Check out /system overlay
I have seen this guide: h**p://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/ it shows how to downgrade. Is it possible to flash the alpharev hboot after that downgrade, without (permanent )root? I can't use system overlay, because i have a non rooted stock rom, i have just soft root

Is it possible to revert after S-OFF with AlpharevX

Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to revert hboot to s-on after s-off with alpharevx beta, will update with 2.2.1 ruu overwrite alpharevx hboot???
I did update with ruu, but almost nothing happened after completion, hboot is still same s-off, only recovery was original... removed cwm
strange...
anyone help...
It wont remove the patched HBoot because it is v6.x, and the RUU's is v1.x. It's not yet possible to revert, although the devs had stated they will release a special downgrader which will restore the original HBoot, but, its not released yet.
So, do you think that, after downgrade and all that guru stuff, and after installing RUU, we will get wildfire in exact same state before installing alpharevx???
Thank you for quick reply
Ofcourse, since after downgrading, it will be the Stock HTC Hboot. And, as you already found out, RUU's will remove the Custom Recovery, and the Superuser Binary, which gives root, so in all, giving a stock out of the box phone.
Oki, so now waiting for downgrader )) thanks again

Step by step walkthrough?
Hi, I rooted my phone recently and I'm using twrp. I got this system update but I'm not able to install it. Could you please provide step by step walkthrough for this? I want to be able to install the update but at the same time, don't wish to unroot my phone, and if that's not possible, go back to stock, install the update, then root again. But I don't want to lose all the settings and data as well, so if I make a back up, go stock, update, then root and restore, would it work?
can the stock firmware of the same version earlier installed can be reinstalled with s-on , because i cannot get s-off even after multiple tries .

there are HTC One rooting tool contains cid changer
You don't need change firmware as I assume your phone is S Off
But if MID is changed you have to restore it back

HTC Desire 816 without UPDATE option!

Hello everyone,
I bought an HTC 816 but I can't find any update option!
I think it was rooted before then unrooted.
The bootloader screen shows:
*** Software status: Modified ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
S-ON
When it boots it shows in Red on the HTC White screen : This build is for development purpose only ...
It has CWM based Recovery v6.0.4.7
Everything works fine, but it's on 4.4.2 and there's no UPDATE option in the Settings>About>Software or anywhere.
Android Version:
4.4.2
Sense 6.0
Software number SVHD v1.2.0
How can I update or re-flash it with the correct version?
Thank you
SVHD is custom rom.
If you want to use official rom, search the correct ruu file, and re-lock bootloader, and flash it
You can find How to flash ruu file on this forum

Thank you for your reply.
I have the official RUU,
I re-locked the boot loader,
I tried to flash it but it gets stuck at the very first page.
I tried many times and waited 15 minutes but the update doesn't proceed!
Should I have S-ON or S-Off before updating?
How will I know the correct RUU for my phone?
I doubt that I'm not using the correct one although I got it from a trusted website.
Thanks again.

Will this stock recovery work?

Trying to allow my OTA update to shine through but it freaks out while rebooting into TWRP. I found this stock recovery: recovery_verified.img__Europe_1.61.401.6. Will this work on a US M9+?
I already unrooted and am trying to restore back to factory as much as possible since I'm getting the OTA update nags.
Thanks!!
you should flash last stock recovery that match to your current software number....
after flash recovery relock bootloader and use (htc_fastboot.exe) to flash RUU
