Is it possible to revert after S-OFF with AlpharevX - Wildfire General

Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to revert hboot to s-on after s-off with alpharevx beta, will update with 2.2.1 ruu overwrite alpharevx hboot???
I did update with ruu, but almost nothing happened after completion, hboot is still same s-off, only recovery was original... removed cwm
strange...
anyone help...

It wont remove the patched HBoot because it is v6.x, and the RUU's is v1.x. It's not yet possible to revert, although the devs had stated they will release a special downgrader which will restore the original HBoot, but, its not released yet.

So, do you think that, after downgrade and all that guru stuff, and after installing RUU, we will get wildfire in exact same state before installing alpharevx???
Thank you for quick reply

Ofcourse, since after downgrading, it will be the Stock HTC Hboot. And, as you already found out, RUU's will remove the Custom Recovery, and the Superuser Binary, which gives root, so in all, giving a stock out of the box phone.

Oki, so now waiting for downgrader )) thanks again

Downgrade hboot to eng hboot

I can't seem to find the guide for this. I know it can be done....or am I crazy. I rooted a friends phone this weekend. Tried to use unrevoked but it wouldnt work until I down graded froyo. He's rooted now. But still want to downgrade his hboot. And for the life of me I can't find the guide.

I think maybe this is what you want. It installs the eng hboot and amon ra recovery in one shot. The updated file with ra 1.8 is in post 18 in that thread. There's a guide in the first post. The only thing I can think to add is that you'll want to have a rom on the sd card ready to go. The reason being, it might boot loop after the install (mine did) and the only way I know to get out of it is to flash a new rom (or reflash the current one).
I can't post the link or i would just do that.
In the EVO 4G Android Development section, the post you want is called 'ENG bootloader (0.76 needed for CM6) extended fastboot commands'

Zikronix, I have just downgraded my HBOOT from .97 to 0.76.2000. (In fact done this a couple times both from 2.02 and .97). In case you still need this.. below are the steps.
1. Got my replacement EVO today (hboot .97, 3.29.651 build, 1.71 PRI)
2. Rooted it with this method using default (clockworkmod recovery)
3. Rebooted and flashed Amon_ra recovery (optional.. my preference)
4. Copied the correct Eng hboot file (renamed as PC36IMG.zip) to my sdcard, rebooted to bootloader, Eng hboot zip was flashed, I accepted update, done. Rebooted into recovery.
5. Flashed my favorite root ROM (this is necessary bcos the change on hboot does something funky to your existing rom, so you can only reboot into bootloader ... not sure why, some dev should be able to explain more)
6. Done.

[Q] Rooting and HBOOT question

Rooting and HBOOT question
Hi,
I have a STock Legend with Vodafone Froyo. Is it possible to downgrade my HBOOT and flash the AlphaRev HBOOT to get r/w on /System?
If yes, could it be possible to root it after that? Or is the only possible root for the Legend a modified ROM?
HBOOT cannot be downgraded. Check out /system overlay
I have seen this guide: h**p://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/ it shows how to downgrade. Is it possible to flash the alpharev hboot after that downgrade, without (permanent )root? I can't use system overlay, because i have a non rooted stock rom, i have just soft root

Downgrade to HBOOT from 1.02.0000 to 0.52.0000

Hi, everyone who have been waiting for a way to downgrade their HBOOT so that they can get S-OFF, cause they upgraded to the Official RUU Rom... I think I found a solution for you!
Also give you permanent ClockWork Recovery!
I haven't test it on any other Slide, cause I have only one. So, sorry if it didn't work for you.
Here is what I did, in case you're wondering, I downloaded the Official RUU from HTC Support website, extracted the 'rom.zip' file from Windows Temp folder that it creates, replaced the newer 1.02 HBOOT with 0.52 HBOOT, that I got from 'ESPRIMG.zip' (the Stock rom).
And also replaced the recovery.img with ClockWork Recovery img file.
Then I just renamed the 'rom.zip' file to 'ESPRIMG.zip'
Put it in the root of my memory card, powered off, rebooted into BOOTLOADER, and it detected the file and asked me if I wanted to update, I chose YES, and it went on without a hitch. Next thing I knew, I had 0.52.0000 HBOOT, with permanent ClockWork Recovery(so I dont have to use 'update.zip' anymore), and also the Official Latest 2.15.531.3 unmodified rom, (I like stock Espresso, that's why I bought it ) but you will LOSE ROOT but SuperOneClick method works for me to gain root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Method:
1. Download this 'ESPRIMG.zip' file - http://www.mediafire.com/file/cuemg74en7kk0a3/ESPRIMG.zip
2. copy/paste it to your memory card, in the root, not on any folder.
3. Make sure your card formatted to FAT32 file system, or it won't detect it.
4. Do a Nandroid BACKUP, if you can, cause I don't know if this will work for you. But it will wipe all your data and setting. SO BACKUP!
5. First you need to wipe data and factory setting, and wipe cache and wipe davlik cache (Otherwise it bootlooped for me). So boot into recovery first!
You can do that by going into BOOTLOADER first then selecting Recovery ( for that remove memory card from mobile or else it will start update) or if you have ROM Manager then you can use that to reboot into Recovery, any recovery will do stock or clockwork.
6. Ok, so after Wiping from recovery. PULL battery, then insert back the memory card with ESPRIMG.zip file on it. Reboot into BOOTLOADER, and apply the update.
It should do a reboot automatically to downgrade the HBOOT.
You will see the change if it worked. After applying the update, reboot phone normally.
And if all done correctly, you should have 0.52.0000 HBOOT, and also a permanent ClockWork Recovery. Now you can root by using SuperOneClick method. And also get S-OFF (I didn't need it, cause I have permanent S-OFF! , at least that's how I explain it)
Im guessing it worked for me because I have a factory unlocked S-OFF HBOOT from HTC. Because, to try this out first, I updated my phone via the OFFICIAL RUU from HTC Support Website and it showed S-OFF on my 1.02.0000 HBOOT.
Then I tried this method and it did downgrade my HBOOT and I still had S-OFF without doing the AlphaREV method.
So I guess I have a kind of permanent S-OFF??! :S :?
Hit thanks if it helped.
I am no developer but I am learning
Any feedback would be appreciated.
And yes, my major is CS and I LOVE IT!
any one test this yet?
If i try this and it does not downgrade my HBOOT will my phone be bricked? Will I lose root? I would love to try, but would like a little certainty.....

I don't think that you phone will be bricked, it would just not downgrade it but the HBOOT will remain. Yes you will lose root, but that can be gained easily by SuperOneClick Root Method.
I not certain myself about the brick. Flash at your own risk.
Could you provide a download link of your ESPRIMG.zip?

Did it work?
has this worked for anyone?
I'll be trying it once the download finishes for me. I'll update you guys on whether or not it worked for me.
I'm using a full stock phone btw, factory reset and blank sdcard as well. Hopefully this works for me.
UPDATE:
Looks like this was a dud.
I applied the update 3 times to my phone, but my Hboot still didn't downgrade. It's still on 1.02.0000. Also didn't flash the permanent Clockwork Recovery that we were hoping for either.
I'm guessing your permanent s-off is what let you use this successfully. So for anyone who has S-OFF already this would probably work fine.
On the plus side, it didn't brick me =)

Well thanks for the feedback, yes I think its the permanent S-OFF too. So does that mean I have a phone that was permanently UNLOCK my T-mobile or HTC it self for testing purposes? Is there some way to use this to unlock that 1.02.0000 HBOOT?
any updates on how to downgrade?
i need to downgrade my Espresso, i have the latest official t-mobile update.
i have already followed instructions very carefully missing no details.
i have searched everywhere and tried everything. thank you.

[Q] DZ stock gingerbread s-off

Hi, I have a Desire Z that I purchased used and now realized has been modified in some way before. It was at some Froyo version, but then I applied the OTA gingerbread update because I did not know at the time that it was modified. It is carrier unlocked for sure. In the boot loader it has the following settings:
VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0013
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.10.04.12_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 11 2011, 23;36;2
it has S-Off, but it does not have root. I've tried to flash a recovery using android flasher, but it did not work. Although It has s-off, I am not sure if still keeps it, after upgrade from stock froyo to stock gingerbread, as it is called in the xda wiki as false s-0ff after upgrading.
I do not know if there is any chance to cause any damage on the phone. I would be very gratefull if anyone can give me an answer how to preceed to install the recovery.
Many thanks,

If you're S-OFF you should be able to flash a pre-rooted ROM via PC10IMG.zip via bootloader, and then flash a Recovery... technically, the 2.3 update is not rootable at this time. One usually has to downgrade first, but since you're S-OFF... I'm thinking you should be okay. Do some research though... perhaps someone else can confirm this?
Yes, I am currently doing a lot of research, but I am getting confused.
I though in the same lines as you do, but after a read this from xda-developers http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision, after that... I do not know how to proceed, I am stuck.
'I got with the firmware 1.72x, and as it is described in this post, after the update I should only have a false s-off, and no PC10IMG though bootloader is goig to work.'
I really do not know, but any help will be very greatful,
Hi, I do not know whether the solution is raised here on xda, but as something you can restore as described in the Polish formum DZ - http://forum.android.com.pl/f244/tu...fon-po-rootowaniu-do-stanu-pierwotnego-92344/
I think that with the help of "Google translate" translate, this method works 100% same-it's restored by this method.
Gotten it!!! I downloaded 1.34.405.5_PC10IMG.zip renamed to PC10IMG.zip and flashed it via hboot. It worked!
Is it possible to install virtuous unity rom from there, by renaming to PC10IMG.zip, and flashed it? or do I need to install a custom recovery first?
Many thanks guys

The very first thing you need is a Recovery. Followed by a NANDroid backup, IMO. 4EXT Recovery (link in my signature) is wonderful. But ClockworkMod is great too. Just stick with version 3.0.2.4. So you have root now? You've got Superuser and all is well? That's awesome.
Nop, I am not root, it s stuck on 1.34.405.x stock, no recovery, nothing. So rooting is next.
Do you know any thread I can follow to root a stock 1.34xxx already s-off
I ve been searching around, and I bookmarked some relevant stuff, but I have no much time to spare on that, so I would appreciate any thread that goes straight into matter, that you may know and it includes the files needed (if possible)..
It s been three years since I started with android I followed all the versions, I rooted the g1, which I am still using quite often, I also rooted my girlfriend's my touch 3g, and now... its time for the desire z.
I'm going ahead !!!
follow this guide
But change the gfree from "./gfree -f -b hboot-eng.img -y recovery.img"
to just "./gfree -b hboot-eng.img -y recovery.img"
that should sort it all out.

Is this the exact command? my device is already, s-off, superCid, and sim-unlock (xtc clip). I do not have a clue about gfree either. Maybe I screw it all!!
That command I posted will flash a eng hboot and cwm recovery, the -f option is for s-off, supercid and sim-unlock, but seeing as we have these its unnecesary.
So yes, it is the exact command you need. Be sure to check the md5's though!

do not lose the S-off updating for Hboot?
it's done, I just released my desire z, it is free !!! Many many thanks...

[Q] Unrooted still S-OFF

I have unrooted my phone but it still reads S-OFF. How can I change this to be S-ON?
How did you root? What hboot version do you have? Why are you unrooting? If you give more information, you're more likely to get answers.
If you rooted with unrevoked, you need to flash the s-on tool. You'll need to reflash your recovery. You may need to downgrade your radio for the s-on zip to take. You may need Amon Ra to do this. Once you've downgraded/s-on, flash the RUU again to get rid of your recovery.
If you rooted with revolutionary, there are several threads about unrooting it. Check those.
If you're taking its in for repair, you may not need to be s-on. I'd leave mine s-off, but that choice is yours.
