Hi,
I have a problem with the "Download updates manually" option in the "About device" menu.
When i click on it the Software update begins checking for updates and after 45 seconds it gives this error:
Unable to download update
Unable to update the software. A network or server error occurred. Try again later.
I tried in 3G/4G and wifi, same error message.
The phone is completely stock, it's NOT rooted (never has been), no ROM, no nothing.
Android version 6.0.1
Android security patch level August 1 2016
Apps update normally on 3G/4G or wifi, no problem there...
Can you help me? I really want to update via OTA (new security patch and the next Android 7...)
Are you a first time user in updating your phone? I mean is this is your first ota from your phone?

Hi if you can't do an OTA update you can always force one using Samsung Smart switch or Samsung Kies, once you have done that your OTA should work fine afterwords.
Just make sure to back up first in case it resets the phone, always better to be safe then sorry.
Hope that helps as I do it this way on my S7 Edge if I have any problems.

Hi everyone
Few days ago when I entered Kies to see if there are any updates for my firmware there was a message there's a new update so I installed it via Kies.
On the other hand, when I checked at the same time through the settings of the device I was told that I have the latest firmware.
My question is why is it?
Why the OTA service told me that I have the latest firmware and at the same time the Kies told me there is a new update.
Is there a problem with the rom?
I must say I have the BTU stock rom but I'm not from England, but from Israel.
Do I need to be from England to get the OTA?
Thanks in advance
No. I'm from Israel and I've got same thing. Same thing with Galaxy S3. AFAIK, there was always a discrepancy between OTA and OKIES updates.

So you mean that OTA updates always come with delay of few days after Kies?
BTW, you have also the BTU stock rom?
I wouldn't know about days, but I've never had the same update be available via both routes.
Also, I've got the EMJ9 RIM, but mine is downloaded manually, since my phone is rooted. Long story short, before I manually installed 4.3, I updated via Kies (after which my phone failed to boot, allegedly since it was rooted).

Anyway, you say next time I can even not check for Kies and the update will arrive through OTA to my device sooner or later after it is released via Kies, right?
I wouldn't count on it. While I regularly check via OTA just for the fun of it. But mostly every time I ever updated was via Kies, rather than OTA.

Yeah but you said it will arrive eventually to both - Kies and OTA. Just Kies will arrive earlier.
No, what I said is that as far as I know there is a difference in time, between when the updates arrive to Kies and OTA. I'm quite sure the update will arrive OTA too, but that could be a week, or that could be a few months, that I can't tell you :-\

Oh OK that's fine with me. I doubt that it would take months but week or so it sure can take.
Hello all. Recently i have rooted my device (samsung galaxy s5 international), so i am using the Android Version 4.4.2 Kitkat. So recently i was using the mobile 3G internet when asked to update with that window showing 0/100 and when was roughly 33/100 i turned it off. When i got home i tried updating agian using the WIFI and i get this error;
"The operting system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC, or visit a customer service center."
Any help how to solve this issue to update to android version 4.4.4 kitkat? I´ve tried with Kies and no luck as well. I am assuming since did not let finish the update when using OTA maybe something got corrupted. Thanks in advance.

I would pull the battery and go into downloadmode and flash a stock rom with Odin. Wait 20 seconds before you reinsert the battery after you pulled it.

Thanks mate for your reply. I will do that or I will wait for a bigger update. Lazy to backup all data for now.
It would be good if it was in fact 4.4.4 but I suspect it's still 4.4.2 with a few minor tweaks and security updates.
I've been running 4.4.4 on my tablet for months but not seen it for the S5...... which seems odd for a flagship handset. Not that I'm overly concerned as I saw literally no difference when it went to .4

I found a BTV-W09C128B003 firmware update on Huawei's site using the firmware finder. My tablet has been rooted and it does not find this version when checking for software updates. I was wondering if anyone has updated their US version of the tablet to this version either through OTA or a manual update and if so, what issues it addressed.
I have a US model BTV-W09 and a build number of BTV-W09C128B002 every time I check for updates using the built in updater it says there aren't any. I am not rooted or unlocked.

I've tried the manual update and it just doesn't take it for some reason. I've tried to install it the DLoad method and it says it installs it but the version stays the same(002).
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk
I tried the DLoad method, and I am still on 002 as well, but my root was wiped out and I seem to have the factory recovery now instead of TWRP. I did run the factory recovery and now the dpi change is sticking after rebooting like it used to before I messed with the scaling after unlocking the bootloader. I will most likely re-root the tablet tomorrow.
Same experience. I got BTV-W09C100B005, firmware finder found B006, flashed but still B005 showed. Not sure the kernel build date changed or not (says 4th Jan)

Mine updated via OTA today. I'm not rooted, totally stock. No issues so far.
I have TWRP installed. When I tried doing the OTA (B003) today, it rebooted to TWRP, started installing update.zip, then errored out. Not that I was expecting it to work, but FYI...
What's the DLoad method?

Method to update huawei devices. One would insert the update.app file in a dload folder on the root of either the internal or external sdcard and press volume up, vol down and power to enter update mode.

I have tried multiple times with firmware finder and it downloads unpacks and goes through the update process, but it stays on B002 instead of moving to B003 and it keeps the September security patch. Oh well.

When do you do that key combination? Tried it at boot up and it just went into TWRP/recovery mode.

did you try that key combination when the device was powered off? I think You need to flash the stock recovery for it to go into that mode....

I just (finally) received notification of the pdate
Got the OTA update on both of my Mediapads this morning. The update seems to have solved issues with the touch screen response and scrolling Facebook seems smoother.

+100! Seriously. I don't find 4.1 bad at all with Nova Launcher -- I actually really *love* this tablet, but multi-window from Nougat would be nice!

I also use Nova Launcher and I am very satisfied. Past experience has shown that upgrades to Android are not always for the better… performance wise. The Lollipop upgrade crippled the Nexus 7.

Nougat should be coming soon, from what I've read on the chinese beta pages there's an estimate date of it being released somewhere in april I think. The Closed Beta started in the middle January. The current 4.1 is fairly stable, so when Nougat gets released I'm pretty sure the same will come!
Has anybody with an unlocked bootloader and root been able to successfully update? If so, what method did you use?
I have tried both options and the update but it keeps failing. Is there a way i can get the ota recovery back on there? I haven't been able to find it on here to download and install. Right now I have twrp and am rooted.
mine already updated to B003 through OTA about 3 weeks ago, the touch screen issue is basically fixed. Before that, i tried to install the update pack by myself but none of the trial succeeded.
Hello guys, something strange is happening to my phone, I cannot update it to the latest firmware BQF2 and If I do so, the phone start heating up and rebooting by itself, even the ota update break the phone, It took me some time to figure it out that it only works well on the firmware version G935VVRS4BQC9_G935VVZW4BQC9.
What do you guys recomends me?
Manual download firmware on the PC and use ODIN to flash instead of using the OTA.

I did that, but the same problem persist.
Maybe it is a hardware issue.
Definitely hardware then. ODIN is in download mode and bypasses the software completely.
I had an edge that got hot, ran thru the battery (I could watch the battery drop down in real time just going thru setup) and had broken wifi.
Sent it back and the replacement has been flawless.

Not necessarily an original device. Download Smart Switch on your computer then plug your device, if it recognizes it then update it from there. If it doesn't, then it's a fake.

What is the current build name? Download Phone Info from the Play Store and see if its a genuine Samsung device. Have a feeling its a knock-offf, hoping its not but your firmware is too old for this model.
Thanks a lot guys, in fact i ve downloaded ASF3 firmware from sammobile and flash it manually through odin hope it will continue to receive ota update henceforth

did you got OTA updates for September or October ?
I have the same issue, it is stuck on security update 1 April!
I have tried manual update from the phone and with PC (Smart Switch); clear cash, reset the phone...nothing => it is saying I have the last update.
I have an S10+ bought from UK but I am using it in Romania
Do you have some pointers? What to do/check ?
Thank you!
