Is cell reception fixed? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Are people still having issues with this or has it been fixed?
Thanks!
Enviado desde mi SM-G920F mediante Tapatalk

I've never had issues really, but I also purchased the phone after the latest Marshmallow update B29. Seems to be working great for me.

Still having issues.

I'm still on B27 and I am using it as dual sim, Verizon in sim 1 (only works in this slot) and Cricket (ATT) in sim 2. The phone does not like switching to LTE on cricket from 4G (HASP+ or whatever it is). It had a heck of a time with a marginal signal area in north Florida keeping any signal at all. Was very frustrating, but not sure if having my main Cricket sim in slot 2 was affecting the signal performance. I need to try B29 and compare. But I want to unlock it and put TWRP and all on it. Just was testing the phone before I jumped.

I heard maybe these issues are mainly on the american model?
And that on the European model not so much? Is it true?

Reception issues still persist
A lil anecdote..
Sitting inside my workplace today next to a guy with a metro pcs LG phone.
We go to exchange phone numbers and he can call out to my phone, but the axon 7 has no signal.
That's my take on the axon's reception.

I have seen more Europeans talking about this. Never seen someone with China version writing they have problems with signal.
Overall even if there is almost no signal according to phone I can call and receive calls and sound is clear. But I started using phone on 2G mode only after I noticed it doesnt drain battery while 4G does so searching for towers around. I understand it is almost full metal phone with plastic speakers and antenna lines and it might be the reason.

s7 edge tmobile or international version?

Hi Guys,
Im in a little dilemma, I purchased the S7 G935T and it is coming in tomorrow. So I've been reading a lot about the phone and the known stuff about the bootloader and what not. So should I just return it(Costing $800+) and get the international version (G935F costing $700 on ebay)? I know Samsung Pay will not work and I really don't care about that that much. I mean it's something cool but not a die for feature. I really want the video calling feature that tmobile offer on these higher smartphones though. Are there any other features that the tmobile version might have over the international version? I tried to look but couldn't find much. If I get the international version, that means I can root the phone install custom roms and have less to no bloatwares. Let me know what are the Pros/Cons of getting the international version. Thanks
I struggled with this too, but ultimately it came down to needing Band 12 compatibility. Won't get that with international variant.

Can you tell me more about the 12 band compatibility? Is it just so that VoLTE can work? What other functionalities does this support? Also how is your s7 heat problem? I've been reading a lot about the overheating problem with the SD820

B12 is basically a lower frequency signal so it penetrates buildings better. It also allows you to have LTE available while on a call.
Can't comment on the heat as I just my S7E this afternoon. It did get warm during initial setup, but every phone does ...

I actually just saw this on for the international version? Is this true?
"UPDATE: 2016/03/31 5:07PM PDT
The previous deal is sold out, but a new one popped up at the same price from another seller (232tech).
In the event your Galaxy S7 pre-order has been delayed, you can just cancel that sucker. As with the S7 Edge, the regular Galaxy S7 has appeared on eBay in its unlocked form. For $599.99, you can get the SM-G930F with support for most GSM/LTE networks. That's about $100 cheaper than the full price GS7 on US carriers.
Importantly, this is an international phone. That means it has an Exynos 8 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 820 in US models. The LTE bands should be great, though. It even has band 12 for T-Mobile. 3G is missing Tmo's band 4, but you'll be fine on HSPA+ data in areas where T-Mobile runs 1900MHz."
I might get the G935F since this thread says it has 12 band
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/detailed-sm-g935-s7-info-t3326180
Interesting ... I wonder if Band 12 will actually work though. I had the Moto X Pure Edition that had to wait for T-mobile to certify (or something) the device before B12 would work. Seeing how that one would likely have different model numbers than those T-mobile sells, band 12 may not work out of the box.
I am no expert by any means, so I could be wrong ...

Man so little information, I CAN'T DECIDE!!!!! lol. Need more digging because if I get the ebay one then I won't open the tmobile that will be arriving tomorrow since they say the refund should be faster if it's unopened, or else it takes 2 business cycle = 60days for the refund.
I'm on the fence as well. I know I can add VoLTE with my own modifications. I'd also like to port the video calling in dialer. WiFi calling would be nice also but isn't a deal breaker for me. Band 12 is on all variants I believe but is just disabled. Since the international is modifiable, I'd assume there is a way to enable it.

Read from c#23 onward, it seems to work but not VoLTE, wifi calling, and samsung pay. Im still digging to see if it's worth it to get the international version.

There are at least 2 variants of band 12, 3 if I'm not mistaken. Does t TMob use 12b? And does t the int'l version use band 12a and 12c?
There is a possible alternative to 935F.
That is the Chinese released 9350, which is a snapdragon like the TMo, and it might be possible to flash TMo firmware on it after unlocking the bootloader (don't know if this would work or if that would re-lock the bootloader ). Hoping someone with the appropriate skill set would comment on this or even give it a try.
Believe these are available on eBay also.
Dang, from these comments, maybe I should keep the tmobile version?

That's what I would recommend. I have been rooting/tinkering for years and although I've had this phone a very short time, aside from ad blocking I honestly see no need to root this phone.
Of course that's subject to change in a matter of weeks, days or months LOL

Just because it has band 12 out of the box, I'm not so sure it means that it'll be supported by T-Mobile. Again, I use the Moto X Pure Edition as an example, Motorola said that the device would support band 12, but it wasn't until the device went through T-Mobile's certication process and an OTA update that we saw Band 12 on the X. (And even still it's not working right - if VoLTE is enabled phones calls are choppy)
Like I said earlier, I am by no means an expert and can very likely be wrong (Heck I actually hope I'm wrong!)

So from all the digging/comments here all I see is that VoLTE, Wifi Calling, and Samsung pay will not work on the S7 Edge G935F (International Version) and G935W8 (Canadian Version, a little more compatible with US Tmobile). I think this is fine with me because I am using the 5S right now and don't ever have a need for those. But we will see, I am still digging to see if all that are worth it over the Exynos. Which again, I don't have right now so I don't see why just get the Exynos
So just an update, I purchased a S7 Edge g935f. I am using it on Tmobile and also just rooted it. Anyone needs to know anything just give it a shout.
Keep us posted as to the coverage your getting... Also, can you download LTE Discovery and see if you ever get Band 12.

s7 edge is having trouble with TMobile's LTE mobile data

So I recently purchased s7 edge g935fd from Taiwan. The phone was working fine there in Taiwan. When I came back to the States, however, the phone seems to have trouble connecting TMobile's LTE mobile data. The LTE goes on and off , no matter where I am. The phone still says that it is connected to LTE even when the data is not loading. I tried to reset the APN setting but no avail. I also tried that sim card on my old ASUS Zenphone 2 and the LTE worked fine so it is probably not the sim card's fault. The weird thing is that I can still call, text, and even use 3g network, it's only LTE that is not working properly. Anyone got a solution to this?
Have you gone to settings>mobile networks and checked if it's set to auto connect?
I took off unlimited data from my account because **** sucks here In Aurora Colorado. Isn't worth an extra 20 a month when I got WiFi at home and at work. Plus 2gb free is cool with me. Still got bingeon
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I used to have a note from Verizon Unlocked, but seems they've done that on and off signal quite a lot. Since their phones from T-Mobile have everything pre-installed, you can't even delete or edit their APN.
That's why I got a phone with then GS7E works like a charm.

Oh well. Like I said even with that sht I can NEVER load a video on Netflix on my lte, I would miss flights before this crap loads. I like t-mobile because it's the only one that's "good" in my area if t-mobile is "good" I don't want to know what's bad. That's cool it works for you. But I rather pay $55 a month for text talk and 2gb of free data

I have a 935FD on TMO and never have had a problem. I actually have a 935T also, just made sure the APN's matched. The FD however, has never shown an LTE icon although it shows connected to LTE in settings. This could be to being rooted and running a custom rom. But to your main question, again, I've had no issues.

Yes, I bought an International version after realizing it would probably be some time before the 935T got root. From what I understand, and don't quote me on this, but the international version of just about anything is compatible with TMO or any other GSM network. The Note 7 should be just as compatible as my 935FD is with TMO.

No, and that is the only reason I've kept my TMO version is for the wifi calling. If the buildings where I work weren't blast proof we would have cell signal inside them. Since we don't, the wifi calling is our only Option, besides landlines of course. For all these reasons we're talking about is why I'm looking at getting an HTC 10. I'm getting tired of all the Samsung lock down on stuff.

At&t U.S. and Mi Mix

Hey folks yesterday I had problems with LTE on At&t, when Im in a call LTE drops to 3g and things like that, so I didn't have VoLte (HD calls).
The solution I called customer service and ask them to put the hd voice in my account. They have to create a dummy IMEI (because their database is older than my grandma) that way you can enjoy your Mi Mix and LTE.
What is working right now?
VoLTE
Video calling
I haven't figured out the WiFi calling yet.
Good luck!

Can you do video calls? Also this happen when the tower in ATT refresh they don't recognize this device. Mine was working fine for 5 months and yesterday stopped working.
I've only had my phone for a few weeks, but I've had plenty of devices from outside the US on ATT and have never had a problem before
I've been using it for months and am wondering if anyone else has had issues with MMS. I seem to have issues with MMS on every phone, but that's a side point. It seems like MMS only work on an app by app basis, and I have to go through great difficulty to get group messages.
I finally received my mi mix... IV been wanting this phone for a long time and now I finally have it. The reason I have been putting it off is because I was told that it would not work on Verizon. IV had Verizon for 5 years and didn't wanna switch to AT&T. I received my MI mix expecting it to not work on Verizon. After installing my Verizon nano Sim into the MI mix and waited for a few seconds and, BAMMMM BABY, I have VOLTE and I can send and receive texts/calls. I am very happy now. One of the big reason I got the MI mix is so I can bootloader unlock and root. Question, I'm on 6.0.1 what's the fastest way to root and can I root without a computer.

Exynos s10+ does not get 4g in USA on at&t

Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I had the same problem this summer but then it started working. This time it doesn't work. Using an at&t prepaid sim.
Have reset network settings, tried some different apn settings, and put the sim in tray #2. Nothing works still only get H+.

Does anyone have a solution.

AT&T is like that if you're not using their branded phone you don't get their LTE speeds but just regular 4G. Even the rep says your phone is recognized as a GSM phone, i have the U1 International unlocked s10+ on Verizon and i have LTE+ find someone with tmobile or verizon service try their sim card i'm sure you'll have LTE on their network

AT&T is horrible with BYOD, this is well known.
If you gave AT&T your EMEI number on your account for your current device it will not be recognized. You have to go into AT&T, find the branded S10+ model for AT&T, grab the EMEI off of that one and have them put it onto your account. You can not ever give AT&T the EMEI number from a BYOD, it will not work properly.
This is one of the reasons I left AT&T years ago. And you can forget about using Wifi calling or VoLTE, it's locked only to their devices.

Modify Carrier Policy to get 5G work

Hello, I have a SM-N9860 with TGY CSC. I was able to get carrier_policy files with QPST. Can anyone help me modify them so that 5G is enabled in any country that use N78 Band (in my case Switzerland). You'll find both files attached.
Or : if someone with a BRI SM-N9860 could share his Policyman folder that would be great.
Wow! Following this.
Is this the file that controls the ability to connect to 5G? No need for root?
That would be nice, following.

Well it looks like that file already has band 78 enabled for sa and nsa 5g. So there might be an imei restriction you are running into.

And in your opinion this imei restriction is added by Samsung or the carriers in each country? Or an agreement of between both?
Is it possible to ask a carrier to allow an imei to connect to their 5g network?

I will buy snapdragon version but I read here in several topics is that in exynos regions even in your own country with your carrier sim you still not connecting to 5g with snapdragon note 20..
You think that carriers only have whitelisted exynos imei for they 5g network?
Strange is that with one plus it connects.

No need for root. I was able to get all the files from a S20 Ultra Snapdragon BRI (which connects to 5G here in Switzerland) and I replaced those of my Note 20 Ultra with them. Unfortunately I didn't change anything... I keep searching but I'm afraid that only flashing CSC could solve the issue...

Why s20 connects , and note 20 not? Is Samsung really scamming even more the costumers? One Plus is snapdragon and connects so is not SoC problem for sure.
That can confirm it is a scam, from Samsung, carriers or both.

And presumably for 5G access if you are not roaming (i.e., if we import an international phone)? Samsung has an issue with servicing international phones (they won't), but the carriers shouldn't have any issue providing service - that right?

I'm starting to feel the same way, and I've used Samsung phones ever since the original Galaxy S - even returned an iPhone 4 at the time to switch. What irritates me is how they have started taking their customers for granted, even with their top-tier phones - downgrading the memory capacity, eliminating the headphones (and not even offering a complementary set here in Canada). Samsung originally appealed to me as the underdog against Apple, who would take risks and truly innovate to attract customers - that role now seems to belong to others. And quite frankly, from what I've seen of the OnePlus Pro 8, it wouldn't be much of a lowering of standards to switch...

This information is incorrect. Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra takes as good pictures if not better and so does Oppo Find X2 Pro. My only reason to go for Samsung is US bands and mmWave bands.
