Boot loader reset and unlocked phone - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello everyone. I have 2 questions. And thank you in advanced and have a merry xmas!!!!
1. how do I check if my phone is simcard unlocked?
2. If my phone is unlocked regardless of how it's unlocked will doing a boot loader reset (holding the power, volume up and home buttons) relock the phone?
Samsung Galaxy s7 edge original carrier ATT currently using tmobile.
Again, thank you very much!!

borrow another provider sim card from a friend or go to a store and ask if you can use a sim for a few minutes, some stores may help.
if your phone is unlocked, a bootloader reset will not relock your phone.

But if I'm using a tmobile Sim in an att phone doesn't that mean the phone is unlocked?

Yes it does, and that whole 're-locking after updating' or 're-locking after a reset' doesn't happen anymore.
You can wipe data a hundred times from recovery if you want, once the phone is unlocked, it's unlocked. Period.

Have to re-unlock sim after force shutdown

I have network/sim unlocked my Vibrant and it works fine. However, I have had to re-enter it at least 3 times. All of these times it was after a reboot that was done because the phone was locked up or because an app was frozen. After the reboot, it would ask for the sim unlock again. I can enter it and it unlocks and works fine until I have to reboot under the same circumstances. Normal reboots do not cause a problem, only the ones where an app or the phone is frozen.
I thought that once it was unlocked, it was unlocked permanently. Is there a preferred way to enter the unlock code? I am entering it at boot up with a non TMobile sim when it asks for it. Is there a way in the OS that would make it "stick".
Very strange...After searching a bit I have not found any mention of a similar situation.
Thanks for any info.

Boot in DOWNLOAD MODE and reflash the firmware.
Do you mean use Samsung Kies?
Is this likely a hardware fail of the internal ssd? The phone is almost brand new. I'm wondering if I should return it to Samsung?

You might have to use "odin" to reflash your stock firmware.
I don't think you have to send it back to Samsung.
Thanks for the replies. I have arranged for the phone to be returned to Samsung under Warranty.
One of the first things they asked was if I had flashed or tampered with the firmware and they said it would invalidate the warranty! So I don't want to try it in case it doesn't work and then they can detect that I flashed it and they refuse warranty. I've not long bought this phone but it's outside the 30 day returns period.
Real pain as I was enjoying the phone until this happened

S4 I9505 Won't turn on after unlock bootloader

my s4 wont turn on after unlock.
looks dead.
wont turn on, enter on recovery, charge...
sorry for english
The S4 bootloader is unlocked by default.
And the models that do have a locked bootloader can't be unlocked.
If the phone can't boot into download mode then you have to take it to a service or throw it away.
He could be referring to a SIM unlock, but regardless, he's taking the device to a service center or selling it for parts.

Unless you are using the Verizon/AT&T variant (and maybe some other variant too, Google it), all other S5 variants already have their bootloader
unlocked.
That option isn't available for older Sammy phones anyway, so don't worry.

I don't have verzion/AT&T i think, because phone bought in latvia and there are no verision shop, if I correctly understanding that verzion/AT&T is shop/mobile network povider. So, Im sure that oem not unloacked by default, because I tried to install clockworkmod, when I use buttom combinations vol+power, phone load default os.

What is your variant? Most likely G900F I guess. Go to Setting/About Device to check your device's model number.

Congratulations, your device already has an unlocked bootloader. Just ignore the disappearance of that OEM unlock option, flash TWRP then flash whatever ROM you want. Be sure to use the right baseband for your ROM though.

Out of ideas. Are you suing the latest MM bootloader? If yes then I guess you better ask for support in the TWRP page. It should work well tbh....

That's very strange just keep on trying till you get it trial and error it'll work in the end which twrp you trying to flash?
When you go to settings search for oem unlock. Don't scroll down through developer mode. Use the search feature on the top and write oem in the search bar then hit search. this will show if OEM unlock is enabled. If it's not you have to use the Verison AT&T way to root.

That's usually the case. There is an easier way to check anyway. log in to download mode. Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time. Release the buttons only when the ‘Warning!!’ message appears. Next, press Volume Up button to confirm that you wish to enter Download Mode. The it will state if oem locker is is on or off. By the way the long but easier way to do it its burn back the stock rom but the international version not from any carrier like this one: G900FXXU1ANE2_G900FOXA1ANE2_G900FXXU1ANE2 for UK. Then apply all the updates as normal that must take some time depending on your internet speed. Then you will be able to root using the right file made for the specific version of Marshmallow. See that link: http://techbeasts.com/root-galaxy-s5-android-6-0-1-marshmallow-and-install-twrp-recovery/
Help please!

So I did this, and released all buttons when I saw the warning sign, then the screen blinked and started saying "ERASING" Is there any coming back from this? It seems I have somehow factory reset the phone (facepalm)
I have a Verizon version Galaxy S5 all stock running 6.0.1
Any help would be appreciated.

Poco M3 does not boot to system but instead always to "POCO-Recovery 3.0"

Hello!
The Poco M3 of my aunt was and still is not rooted and the bootloader was never unlocked. After powering the device off over night, it now does not boot to the system anymore but to "POCO-Recovery 3.0", offering
Reboot
Wipe Data
Connect with MIAssistant
When we select 1. Reboot, it offers:
Reboot to System
Back to Main Menu
When we select 1. Reboot to System, the Poco M3 reboots back to its Recovery screen. Pressing and holding Volume-Up + Power or Volume-Down + Power for a while and/or releasing one of the buttons (we tried all combinations), does not help, as it always comes back to its Recovery screen, so we are stuck.
We did not do any "special" things like rooting or unlocking the boatloader (as written at the beginning), nor are we aware of a recent system OTA update, but maybe she simply did not observe or rembers it (if it happened). She told me that she powered the Poco M3 off because it was getting a bit slow and she read that powering it off might help. So much for that. As we discussed all this over another phone (I am not at her place), I currently cannot connect her phone to my PC via USB and thus cannot try anything in this regard. I am not sure if that could help anyway, though.
I would like to avoid registering with Xiaomi for an account only for being able to reflash the device. Likewise, I do not want to unlock the bootloader or even root the device, unless these are necessary options, of course.
Do you guys have any helpful hints we could follow-up with? Thank you so much for your help!

If the bootloader is not unlocked, this is a problem.
@rotoko
Well, it was a new device bought from a serious seller, and we have not unlocked it.
Could it be that it is unlocked nevertheless?
And if it is not unlocked, why is it a problem? And what could I do now?
Thank you!

The problem is that when the bootloader is locked, you do not install a new rom via fastboot.
@rotoko
So can I only solve the problem by wiping and then hopefully being able to boot into system and then to unlock the bootloader?
With an unlocked bootloader, at least in the future it would make live a bit easier, right?
But what else can I do when after wiping, she still cannot boot her M3 into system? Going to a service point or contacting the seller? Or are there any other options?
BTW, is it possible to save some files from that device by connecting it to a PC (via ADB)? I am not sure if these are all encrypted.

The system will probably no longer boot and nothing can be done without the bootloader unlocked, all that remains is to find an authorized service where they are equipped for it.

Your aunt probably canceled aktualict the system, which is wrong.
@rotoko
You mean she wiped system? Well, I do not know if she did, but how could a stock recovery let system wiped?
Anyway, I hope we still can do some kind of factory reset.
