If you read the threads for updating to N soak test you will see that it is not possible as you need to sideload the N soak test with official recovery. Only with soak test you receive all firmware files which isn't possible with flashing modem only. And please don't push.
The "official" that rolls out now in India is the same version that pas posted here on Dec 11:

Hello again,
haven't been here for a while...
I'm still facing problems with 4G and the camera, because I'm still not on N Firmware & modem
Has something changed about this process?
Do I still need to go back to stock or is there an easier way now?
Huge thanks in advance

Don't know about your device type but yes, there are fastboot images as well as detailed guides available at guides section like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/android-7-0-install-nougat-official-t3531612

You don't have a g4 plus. So AFAIK there's no fastboot image out for xt1622 yet. And this forum is for g4 plus, not g4. You should read and ask in g4 forum, but I can't find images there.

Provided your device isn't the one with Amazon adverts on, the fast boot ROM linked by strongst appears to flash onto XT1622 devices. Bear in mind this is a stock ROM and flashing it will revert you back to stock recovery and system. There was a TWRP image of the baseband modem and firmware, though that got taken down as it seemed not to work well for US devices. However, in my opinion, flashing the whole stock ROM should be more stable.

It must be an Plus, because I can only flash "athene" builds via TWRP.
TWRP won't let me flash G4 builds.

Yeah, that was the thread I was referring to. The 93-14 fastboot ROM has been reported to flash on xt1622 devices okay https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369/post70843323 this will also give you the same build as has been deployed over the EU and globally. Still though, have a read of the thread before flashing.

Thanks a lot, I would probably never have found this thread without you.
Just doing an "fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin" won't be enough, right? :fingers-crossed:
I can confirm the method mentioned by echo92 above. Works perfect on my XT1622. If you have sucessfully installed the 93-14 Stock N build, you could upgrade to the latest update 93-14-4, provided in this thread:

Now I'm on

and handover from WiFi to LTE finally works, also my camera is working again
Thanks a lot guys :victory:
TWRP doesn't flash stock. You need to do it in fastboot mode.
To find out what device you have, while in fastboot, type this in cmd window:
Code:
fastboot getvar all

Stock Firmware Images [3g & 4g]
A cautionary advice. If you unlock your bootloader the warranty of all non eu devices are lost. Also to claim warranty of an unlocked EU device you'll need to live in the European Union. Also locking the bootloader won't give back the warranty. You will not need to unlock the bootloader to flash the factory images of your variant for your region. However to flash a firmware for different region, your bootloader needs to be unlocked.

Any chance of mirroring the links on Mega, or something that doesn't crash after 30 mins. File Factory is terrible
Can i flash XT1077_THEA_RETCN_CTDS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-24.2_cid11_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip in my XT1078? I'm trying to flash RETBR_XT1078_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip but some downgrade messages are showing up
I see NIIMX, which I guess is for Mexico. Anyone have the links for US retail stock? Either 4.4.x other 5.

Not sure how you're attempting to restore the files, but try using the MFastboot application instead of standard Fastboot. I have had problems using the standard Fastboot program. Sounds like the user partition is corrupted, I had a similar problem with my Moto X 2014, somtimes it just turns out to be that you went past a step with an error and didn't realize it. Spelling can be so finicky when stressed out!

Maybe Amazon?
I appreciate everybody's help. However I can't tell if the the correct firmware listed is for US XT1644 FIRMWARE. I see I have the correct build. I have as of yet not unlocked my device. However I want to load my own backup all my images using dd command except data. Upload and post links for the United States build, as I just don't see nothing. Any help to the stock build United States build XT1644 would be great? Thanks
Also when unlocking the my device is there any issues I will run into, off the top of your heads?

I have bought mine unlocked and it is "retus". It has the MPJ 24.139-48 fw. Radio is M8952_70009.08.03.45R ATHENE_RETUSA_CUST.
If I check the update it says it's up-to-date.

yup but .9 is the latest. it has fixes for battery and the phone. i flashed it via fastboot on my XT6144 and it works great.
Well, the -49 (not 9) it's not to be found on Moto US website or OTA, it just appeared here like magic and the change log (supposedly) here. So I am not sure about it's provenience and that the fixes are not a placebo.
Anyway, I understand the "itch" to install it. Because I am so tempted myself
LE: Well, I did it. Flashed the MJP24.139-49 on my XT1644, I am restoring the apps now from backup.
Are these TWRP flashable or fastboot?
Yes, fastboot is avail after you unlock the bootloader on Motorola site (loosing the warranty).
I have booted into TWRP to root (SU systemless method), but didn't actually flash it (because I don't plan to switch to CM at this point).

I'm already on CM but there's the bug preventing me from receiving calls unless I turn off LTE. I'd prefer to not lose root and don't have access to a PC, so if I can wipe and flash this in TWRP, that would be perfect.
No, you can't, you need the standard recovery to get back to stock. Then you can root as I said.
As for CM13, I had used it (beta and after that nightlies) on one of my previous devices (Asus, based on Snapdragon 615, 64 bit, 3GB RAM)... but it was too unstable to use as a daily phone. Always something to be "fixed" and very often something else was breaking. Disappointed...
Security Patch Level
Can someone who has flashed the -49 build confirm what the security patch level is? Just wondering if it's the same update India and Europe received OTA.

If you're looking for a stock ROM, here's the Nougat (v7.0, Dec 2016 security update) stock ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369 I've successfully flashed it several times on my XT 1642 and appears to be the same build as that which came out on the official OTA update.
If you need Marshmallow ROMs, try https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1643-updated-signed-t3460695 , which is MM 6.0.1, July 2016 security patch. Again, I've been able to flash this on my XT 1642 and received the Nougat OTA update, your experience may vary.
As always, with both ROMs, please carefully read the instructions and be aware you may lose your data, back up accordingly.
EDIT - just for info, I've got a XT 1642, retgb (UK) software update channel with an EMEA baseband. With both ROMs, those details were preserved.

They should work, as mentioned I have a xt 1642, same as you, dual SIM, (32 GB model) just on the UK software channel as opposed to the EU channel. Other members appear to have successfully flashed these ROMs on their EU devices, the only way to be certain is to try on your device.

Uh oh, that's not good, which firmware did you flash? That could be a result of the wrong firmware being flashed onto your device (especially as we don't have an official 7.1 firmware yet). You can try flashing the above firmware to try, there's a couple of other topics on this missing imei, the only other resolution I've seen so far is to service or replace your device.

Which software should you try 6.0 or 7?
Can I get my imei number? How does that come from?
The IEMI "disappears" when is a mismatch of the radio (modem) files and the system, like if you try to flash a custom 7.1 ROM over stock 6.0 (MM). Sometimes is hard to recover from that.
First, in TWRP, wipe Data. Then, flash in fastboot the official 7.0:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369
Follow exactly the procedure, run the "OEM Flash.bat" script. Since you don't seem to be very skilled, stop using un-tested ROM's or you will loose your phone. You can add the ElementalX kernel if you need root on the stock 7.0.

What outputs "fastboot getvar imei"? Do you see the two IEMI there? Don't post them here, just look!
1. If the IEMI are missing, and you still have the original phone box (with printed IEMI numbers), you can try to set new IMEI:
"fastboot oem writeimei 123456789012347" This is a example write your own imei there.
2. If you see the IEMI listed by getvar... don't know anything besides what I have already typed in the first post.

Hmm, that's not good, before flashing J-X's Creampie for Nougat, did you flash any other ROMs?
You may wish to have a look through this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/moto-g4-pluss-model-changed-to-g4-lost-t3496912 or this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/imei-0-t3476876/ for example, see if any of the tips within help.
Else, as I previously mentioned, looks like it might be either sending your device to service or for a replacement.

Why athene f instead of athene?
Athene_F is for the Moto G4 Plus (athene is the code name, f for fingerprint sensor, I imagine), whereas athene is for the G4 models.

The install scripts in the updates should detect whether you are athene_f or athene (unless you flashed the wrong firmware in the past, which based on your earlier posts, may has happened).

That's a Marshmallow baseband, but it's reading as .32U, which may indicate flashing the wrong Marshmallow firmware at some point.
Which stock firmwares have you flashed previously, what builds and for what regions? I recall you flashed some builds suggested to you in the other thread.

Referring to your other thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/help-t3586344/page6
you were on a marshmallow baseband ending with 62.u. Now you have 32.u...so you must have upgraded your firmware somehow in the last few days.
The baseband version must end with .R
Have you ever tried one of the suggestions in the above thread??
There you were given the fitting stock firmware and the right procedures to flash it.
My advice: go back to the above thread, read, try to understand and try again.
In addition to bullfinch's reply, I'd suggest going back to the stock (i.e. supplied by Motorola) ROMs, as flashing custom ROMs will just confuse matters.
If you've tried the suggestions in the thread above (your original thread), you may wish to have a look into flashing this ROM here https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto G4 (Plus)/Stock/XT1642/ It's a stock ROM for XT1642, and looks to be the 139-48 build, which may give you the correct baseband. I've not tried it though, and there's still a chance you may still have the incorrect baseband afterwards.
As always, do a complete flash of a stock ROM if you can via fastboot (you could follow the instructions here, but using the XT1642 ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1643-updated-signed-t3460695), and back up your data.
If you do still get the incorrect baseband, as I suggested a few times, you may have to get your device serviced (contact Motorola in Poland for service centres), which may charge you a fee.
I'm still willing to help. That assumes, that you give answers to questions, made by echo92 before.
And my question is: Is your device detected by your pc if connected in fastbootmode?

So you can try flashing the right firmware (given by echo92) following the steps in the link. Or you try again RSD lite with this firmware (you remember).

How did you do? Flash via fastboot, RSD lite or OTA Update?
I'm worried that I've permanently messed up my phone. I didn't make a backup of my stock firmware when I first flashed Lineage OS, and then I was having issues with that, so now I'm using the stock one again, but it's not official. I used fastboot to flash it and then flashed twrp and magisk. That should of been sufficient to factory reset it right? It just keeps having little problems that it didn't have before, like internet loading things slowly and bugs and crashing apps. The reason I switched off the Lineage OS rom is because it had little problems like that too. I just don't know what to do anymore.
Relevant Info:
Device: Moto G5 Plus Unlocked US version
Carrier: T-Mobile

What exactly are your problems? Check the thread of the custom ROM you installed and look for fixes there, maybe you installed an outdated version and your problems have been fixed in the updates. Good luck.

What do you mean with "stock but not official"?
Where did you get it from?
There are some sources for official firmwares signed by Motorola here on XDA so what makes you think the one you use isn't official?
If so that could be for sure the reason for problems for I have to say that I haven't seen unofficial stock ROMs except TWRP flashables (you said you flashed using fastboot so it can't be this) or debloated stock ROMs.

If you can flash the firmware by fastboot it's most likely an official signed firmware that was leaked. To be on the safe side use the firmware found here on XDA like this source:
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/RETAIL/
Just make sure to use the same firmware you we're on or a newer one that fits to your region.
I recommend to reflash the latest stock firmware, maybe something went wrong the first time.
And remember to always make a backup before you flash anything that could cause problems.
It the latest stock firmware different from the stock rom I flashed?
You can also try the repair function in Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant app.

Sure. The firmwares from Moto Smart Assistant are the same like the ones I've posted above, I compared the hash files.
Would be interesting to know what firmware you're on at the moment.

Any firmware you'll find is leaked even the official ones. Motorola doesn't release any firmwares except the ones you can download with Lenovo Motorola Smart Assistant.
The link I posted https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/RETAIL/
contains official firmwares too. The latest one for the US (85-17-4) can be found there too.
What happens exactly when your OTA fails?

You can't take any system updates when you have TWRP installed!
For OTA you have to be on unrooted full stock ROM incl. stock recovery. This is a very important rule.
So you have to ways to handle this:
- Flash clean stock firmware and apply to the OTA afterwards (if you flash the latest firmware 17.4 you don't need the OTA anymore). You will loose your internal storage data or skip the "erase userdata" command.
Firmware from here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/RETAIL/
- Take a TWRP flashable build but be aware that you can't take OTA updates at all in the future which is not needed as the firmwares are up to date.
TWRP flashables here:
