When I got my N6P, I had expected standby time to be amazing thanks to Android Doze. My first day of use shows a lot of "awake" activity during the time when the phone is sitting on my bed side table, completely motionless.
Has anyone else had experience with their N6P doing the same? Am I doing something wrong that caused Doze to never activate?
As a frame of reference, when I went to bed the phone was at 47%. I took the screenshots when I woke up this morning.
Sorry if this is a silly question, but you have activated it haven't you?

Make sure it's on, and you've optimized all apps for battery savings. I lose 2% over night.

I activated mine when my phone arrived. Settings>battery then use the battery menu and select battery optimisation.
Very frustrating reading replies that say Doze must somehow be turned on. It DOES NOT have to be turned on. It's interwoven into Marshmallow automatically.
You can tinker with battery optimizations within the phone's battery settings, but that's about it.
Note: If your phone needs to conduct maintenance (update apps over WiFi, etc.) doze may not kick in the way you think. If your phone has nothing to do and is sitting still for an extended period of time, it'll enter Doze and only sip battery.
You can try greenify beta it has aggressive doze when screen goes off, just whitelist the apps you need to notify you immediately.

Sorry, my bad. Battery optimisation is separate from doze then?
I'm seeing the same problem. 20% depleted in 7 hours overnight just sitting on my nightstand. Deep sleep in better battery stats showed 95%. Not sure what's going on.
How's your charging speed? It's nowhere close to what others are seeing. Even though it shows rapid charging, the amount of time to fully charge is high. 3 hours from 25%. 45 mins from 85% etc. Are you getting fast charging times? I can understand some process binging on my battery while running. I'm getting no more than 3 to 4 hours screen on time. But I don't understand why I would have slow charging times. But if you are also seeing slower charging time, then perhaps it could be.

Looks like it could be Tasker. I'm going to uninstall it and see what happens.

Doze works great for me. For example, during the night, I only lose like 3 percent battery life. That's pretty freaking low. It's like I went to sleep at 75% and woke up at 72%. Very effective imo.
By the looks of it, doze should be on by default. Going into settings/battery/battery optimization-just shows which are optimized and which aren't. It's not an on/off thing.
The only apps I can't optimize is Android OS and dm service. What's dm service anyway

Unfortunately, that's done nothing. Lost 5% in 1 hour just sitting. BBS shows 76% in deep sleep. Screen on 1%. Awake (Screen off) 25%.
This was about 5 hours untouched on my table last night... Working fine...
The the thing I don't really like about doze is, it only works if the phone is flat on a table... Any type of movement, be it in pocket or even on the car dash, it won't come into play...

That horiztonal bar (a clear indication of Doze) just doesn't happen when leaving my phone overnight. The "awake" bars at the bottom of the battery screen in Settings is also switching on and off periodically when the phone should be dozing.
Does that mean a third-party app is the cause?

My guess is yes, some app is staying awake.
It would also explain slow charging....something is eating up CPU cycles and preventing the phone from idling down and sleeping.
It isnt just a 6P thing either....my LG G2 with numerous ROMs/kernels has occasionally experienced issues like this. Almost 100% of the time it could be traced to an app that was misbehaving. You can use a battery tracking app (GSM battery monitor, better battery stats, etc) to get more detailed info. If you arent rooted Im not sure how detailed the info can get, but its probably a lot better than the stock battery graph.
I've had the phone just a week and if I am using heavy then the battery is pretty good, lasts 4 hours plus. Better than my G5.
However, if I am barely using and only sending the occasional WhatsApp and not much else, then the battery doesn't seem to last as long, for example it drained to 50% today with very little use, only 1 hour of SOT. Wifi and location were on, but Bluetooth off.
I've taken some screenshots of battery stars with gSam. Could someone help me decipher what is causing the drain? Or if this is normal behaviour?
Everyone is saying that this phone has amazing standby battery life because of 7.0, Doze, etc. So I am confused!

Looks like you have something running in The background keeping it from falling into deep sleep which is why. Unfortunately I suck @ troubleshooting these kinds of scenarios. My guess would be a Google service of some type. My brother had a problem with Gmail one time that was draining his battery while the phone was in sleep
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Nokia 8's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.

I suspect it was a one off, it would be nice if it did it all the time that's for sure.
Have had my phone 5 days - 4 nights.
1st night was 0% loss - but past 3 nights has been 3-4% overnight in Aeroplane mode.
So I guess some apps I installed since are doing something or trying to do something overnight.

Being in Airplane mode only turns off the radios, it doesn't stop the phone from doing things.

Spoke too soon. Saw another 0% drain last night...
Only difference I can think of is that earlier in the day I had disabled 'Push' on my corporate email client 'TouchDown' and set to never sync.
But the weird thing it that the push/sync was only ever scheduled for office hours. So, unless it has been doing something behind the scenes - it does not make sense that it was using 3-4% every night..Pretty sure it did not show up in the usage breakdown figures.
Will check again tonight.
I remember that my Z1Compact used to get away with 0-1% overnight and even my Z3C in the early days - until an Android version upgrade removed the Sony battery optimisation feature.
Update: Another night of 0% drain!
I got the phone on Saturday, and in two nights I'm losing 2-3% in 7-8 hours. I guess this shouldn't happen since my old Galaxy s5 on 7.1.1 had 0% drain. Also today at work battery drained 2-3% while doing nothing on the phone the whole day.
Anyone else with the similar problem?
Has anyone spotted that after Oreo update battery life improved? I managed to get two days out of it with Location/Data on all the time using maps almost all the time pretty impressive.
Hi! If you're only using mobile data (4G/LTE) for internet access the whole time, how much SOT are you having while doing some chats and Facebook?

Also, it can be 7-10% or 10-15%. Phone and kernel sucking battery, still haven't found the solution.
Hey folks,
Just curious if anyone has seen battery life improvements since the most recent wear OS app update?
Initially afterwards I saw normal battery life. However, I ended up being without a charger Saturday night due to an unplanned inability to drive home from a friend's house. This resulted in me powering down the watch overnight, then running it to dead on Sunday. Recharged overnight, and today this is what I'm seeing for battery life...
This is my normal configuration (BT connection to phone on, WiFi on, GPS off. Screen always on, same watch face I've been running for 5 days).
Interaction was at normal, or maybe slightly more than normal level today, as I was in training class so I responded to a couple things on the watch that I normally would have used phone for.
Really just curious if anyone else is seeing a change, since I can't figure out what, if anything, I did to make this happen. I'd love to see it continue, as it's about half the battery drain I'm used to seeing. Usually get about 22 hours estimated up time, something like 4.8% drain per hour. This shot shows steady drain of 25% over about 11.5 hours or like 2.2% per hour...

I've been using this guide since I first got the watch for battery saving setup:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-battery-tip-wear24-lte-aw-watches-3-t3729680
This initially got me the roughly 22h up time and 5%ish per hour drain.
The only things I'm aware of that could have a (slight) chance of triggering this recent improvement are:
Update to wear OS software
Ran watch out of power (possibly giving the battery better calibration data?? Forcing a reboot after the update).
As of right now today isn't quite as good as yesterday (76% left at just over 8h off charger, so 3% per hour). Essentially identical usage to yesterday in same locations.
I dunno.
Thanks. I've seen that post. The guy swears by airplane mode. But if I have cellular disabled and wi-fi off, I'm not sure why it's also necessary to put the watch in airplane mode.
I'm sure that some of my watchface choices have an effect on battery life and I'm willing to accept that (and save the less-efficient faces for days when I'm mostly home), but I should still be able to get through a long day with power to spare, which is not always the case.

Reportedly it still polls for Wi-Fi if you have it disabled. They state this stops in airplane mode saving a bit more battery.

Is anyone else seeing on their watch? imgur.com /a/aUSCEQl
Shortly after I originally posted this, mine went back to what I'd call typical. However, the last few weeks it's been better again. I'm usually seeing between 50 and 75% battery remaining after a 16-18 hour day off the charger now. Seems to be better with facer and pujie black faces thanc with watchmaker, but the difference isn't huge.

maybe need a new battery. buying one for 11€ hope that gonna fix it

Occasionally I get bad days, but, as an example today with minimal use I've had it off charger just over 11 hours and currently at 60% battery left. I'd say normal is around 20-22 hours usability.

I can also confirm that the battery life/standby drain is absolutely amazing.
Just today gsmarena also posted its battery stats on pixel 5, which got Endurance rating of 93h, which according to my own experience and usage pattern means its helluvah performer battery wise! Anything over 80h is good!
https://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3
I thought i would just leave it to see what would happen overnight again, so i am still on the same charge as the first screen shot but i have 3 hours SOT time now.
The stand by drain isn't quite as good as I expected. I'm losing about 1/3% per hour. When my Pixel 2 XL was brand new it also drained about 1/3% per hour on stand by and that was with a smaller battery and less power efficient processor. I'm certinaly not complaining, 1/3% per hour is great. Just a little surprised that it's a tiny bit worse than my Pixel 2 XL.
Mine definitely seems worse than my 2XL - that would maybe lose 5-10% overnight, while the 5 seems more like 20% at the moment, even after 2 weeks for it to settle down.
Just loosing 1-3% over the complete night here. Maybe have a look into your battery statistics to find out whats causing this drain on your devices?

Same here. First night stayed at 100% as well, then next day synced everything and lost 2%, last night with flip to shh on I lost 1% over close to 8 hours. First Pixel where I'm not hunting for a plug out during the day. I have exercise tracking software I use pretty much daily so SOT doesn't really pertain when it's activity tracking with screen off. But still getting around 5 hours taken into account.
Just to add my battery indicator drops how i would expect it to with usage, i am not seeing this stuck bug thing people are seeing.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I haven't used AOD on my Pixel 5 but I remember testing it on my Pixel 2 XL when it was new and stand by tripled from 1/3% per hour to about 1% per hour. So yeah 2% does seem really bad.

fantastic result. How is Spotify using little energy there? for me it consumes the battery a lot.
In addition, the standby time is very poor. Not using the phone at all, maybe he could handle it Three days. And so it barely lasts 2 days out of 3h SOT if I'm lucky. Of course, I can achieve 8-10h SOT in one time but the standby kills the batteries in the long run.
Hi all, just wanted to report my less than ideal standby drain.
My Pixel 2 XL used to behave better as someone previously commented - I can 100% confirm this.
My P5 would usually use around 0.8/1.1%/h with hibernation time of roughly 80/90% during screen off (AccuBattery stats).
The average values might be skewed a bit since during the day I often listen to Spotify via my TWS buds, but at night the graph doesn't lie: it's quite visible that something's going on, as per screenshots.
Unfortunately I took them after this morning's quick refill, but you can still see clearly that when I put it on my night stand it was at ~50% and I woke up in the high 30s...
The line is not even close to being flat.
Where has all the nice work around doze gone?
Also, why is it so hard for Google to let us know precisely what is using all that energy?
Any tips?
I'm not rooted, no AOD and all my sensors are on - I don't want to babysit my battery.
With this setup I was getting better standby efficiency with my 2XL, I'm sure.
I've already reported this to Google with logs, hopefully some upcoming monthly patch will include some standby optimization
