Soft reboot when uninstalling or disabling Moto Camera - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to get rid of the stock Moto Camera because it's outdated. Unfortunately, it's giving me the soft reboot finger and I can't figure out what's happening. Oddly, installing a Moto Camera APK or through the Google PlayStore creates more instances of the app.
Running a Moto X Pure, XT 1575 with the TruPureXMM 2.9
Not exactly sure where the issue is coming from and I really hope that it doesn't warrant a system wipe.

Moto G4 Plus XT1644 camera & flashlight won't work after root

I've been up and down in this forum and cannot find a proper solution to my problem. It seems that a few of us with certain variants of the G4 Plus have been experiencing issues with either WI-Fi connectivity, SIM error, camera and flashlight not working. In my specific case, my camera and flashlight stopped responding after root. All I get is a black screen when I try to access my camera and my flashlight will not respond. I don't want to have to break root, but is that the only solution or is there a fix?

in stock? how did you root?

It would be hard to tell you how because I used several different How-to articles, but from what I can piece together, I used mfastboot to flash TWRP and after that, SuperSU 2.67. It's on the stock rom.

install the TWRP stock again and then go TWRP / advanced / terminal, type the command: echo "SYSTEMLESS=true" > /data/.supersu and then install the super su 2.78.

I just tried it and it still isn't working.
Did you use the tutorial that requires to flash a "modified" system? Rooting systemless should never require you to touch the system.
I just wiped my phone, reinstalled TWRP and SuperSU and the camera and flashlight seem to be working well. Thanks guys!
UPDATE:
I found my problem. When I edited the build.prop file by adding "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" to enable wifi tethering, it completely disables both the camera and flashlight. When I remove that line and restart the phone, the camera and flashlight are still disabled, but once or twice I received a "this camera is busy" error. I guess I'll have to do a system restore and start over again, without the hopes of enabling wifi hotspot.
Mine s xt 1643 even i rooted my phone... But i didn't checked it even i edited build for Google assistant.... My camera and flash light not working ..
.
I got it back by installing stock rom

Can't get assistant working...

So I'm on the new 7.1.1 public release. All working well. I've made the appropriate edits to the build prop for assistant (ro.product.model=Pixel XL & ro.opa.eligible_device=true) and have cleared the data on the google app.
I'm still not getting assistant. A long press of home brings up the old (normal) cards and search and such.
What am I dong wrong?
I'm having the same problem. And i flashed the pixel mod. And I also flashed the pixel mod, did not solve
bump
Try this .. works well for me through the DPs and now on the official version.
sadly.... no dice. app installed fine and what not... but a data clear and reboot resulted still in the google now page rather than assistant.

Help! Camera won't record cause Microphone in Use Error

I have the Moto G 5 Plus and so far have had no problems. Lag free use so far until yesterday when I tried to record a video and showed an error like "Can not start recording, microphone is in use by other app" (originally in Spanish). I've uninstalled the apps that might interfere with that, I've turned off the Ok Google stuff, did Wipe Dalvik/Cache and camera is still not working. Do I have to do a factory reset or is there any solution??
Hopefully someone has a fix for this.
Thanks beforehand....
:good::fingers-crossed:
Well, after playing with my phone looks like the video error comes after SU SuperUser installation via Moto G5 Toolkit, wich I´m mainly using to enable Viper4ARISE. At first camera works fine, after SU installation seems to conflict with the microphone... Could it be Viper4ARISE or is it SU? Or do I have to uninstall Viper, then Factory Reset and then Root and flashing Viper4ARISE?... IDK...
I never use video btw, it´s just frustrating af.

Stock Moto Camera App Error

I installed a Gcam in my Moto G5 Plus with ROM 9.0 (Rooted), and what it did was it got installed but it got replaced with the stock Moto Camera App. I've installed the Moto Camera from the Play Store but the app now shows error "please restart the camera" whenever I try to shoot video. Now I removed the Gcam by deleting its folder via Root Explorer but still the Moto Camera doesn't work like before.
So please someone give me the link to full stock version of Moto Camera App.

Moto App continuously crashing after latest couple updates. PLZ HELP!

Hi, so I have an Unlocked US Retail Moto G7, Completely stock, no root, no unlocked bootloader, etc. on Pie, and am still on the Moto App version 9.0.28.. in the last few weeks, there have been 2 or 3 updates via Google Play store to the Moto app, (the latest being 9.0.94.2) .. However, whenever I let the Moto app complete the installation of the app Update, a few things happen:
1. The "moto" entry/menu in the Settings app disappears as soon as the update is installed, and does not return..
2. Upon attempting to open the Moto app from the app drawer, I immediately get the toast message "Unfortunately, Moto has stopped". Upon trying again, I get "Moto keeps stopping" .
This continues non-stop, I have tried Force Stopping Moto app, clearing cache + data, Re-granting all permissions, etc. I have even gone through the special app access permissions, as the latest updates give the Moto app Notification access and Usage access... No dice... Nothing works, and the only way I've been able to get the Moto app to function properly again is to completely uninstall all updates, back to the version 9.0.28 (which returns the Moto entry to the Settings app menu, and the Moto app functions 100% properly again)..
Has anybody else experienced this, or can anybody think of something I may be able to do to get this working correctly? I'm not a novice by any means, but I'm kinda spent on ideas here..
