[BOUNTY] Unofficial Bootloader Unlock for Sprint

Would anyone be interested in pledging for an unofficial bootloader unlock so we wouldn't lose our warranty?
I'd be in for $20.
Is there any information on unlocking our bootloader? I have yet to be able to find anything online other than this thread, I would also be in for $20 if we can get the unlock though.
Wait... What's wrong with Motorola's unlocking tool?
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk 4
I just got the phone, there's a tool from motorola to do this? lol I feel kinda dumb right now
If you unlock your device with motorola tool you void your warranty, with unofficial you voided too but they dont know that

I get it now, oh well.... I still rather be unlocked

Yes. On Sprint you can unlock straight from Moto...

Hashcode got a Safestrap going for the Verizon and AT&T versions. Why don't you ping him in his thread (at the "other" website) and see what it would take to make it worth his time ($$) to tweak it to work with Sprint?

In the US, Motorola says your warranty is void if you have even so much as been rooted once. However... good luck with that. I guess?
If you pay for tep, just get your warranty work done at a sprint store. I'm a repair tech and I don't give a f€ck if someone is rooted or unlocked. Sh|t, I root customer's phones for them sometimes.

This. Worst case you have to pay a $150 deductible. While Sprint usually won't care or won't know if you have rooted/unlocked your phone I'm sure Motorola will be able to tell unofficial or not.

BOUNTY: unlock bootloader for CDMA Moto G at [$250]

Requirements to Receive Bounty
To earn the bounty, you simply have to find the exploit which will allow the following. You do not have to develop a recovery, or a kernel or a ROM, but you must provide with a working proof of concept, i.e. with a way which allows us to verify that the bootloader has been completely unlocked and that other developers can use this method to install recovery, kernel and ROMs.
Other owners of the MOTO G XT1028 will then test your method, that when we give the bounty to who earns after we successfully test.
WE HAVE $250 for and unlocked bootloader and $60 for ROOT
The following people have pledged the following amounts for an unlocked bootloader unless stated otherwise.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triumph750 -- $20
DragonRyderX -- $20 to 30
tstivers1990 -- $20
NWKENT -- $75 for Unlocked, $30 for Root exploit
luna_joao -- $20
d4rk3 -- $20 to $50
pfroo40 -- $20 For Root
motrinHD -- $20
mvnsnd -- $20
shorenster -- $20
hexed6 -- $25
JooseyJay -- $10 for Unlock, $10 For Root
SO FAR WE HAVE $250 for and unlocked bootloader and $60 for ROOT.
Honestly, I'm just interested in root without unlocking the bootloader. And we need to leave something open for the possibility of a work around, such as the bootstrap methods used on other phones.

I almost want to say it's not worth it because you can buy the unlocked version for $100 more...
Then again I'd rather my money go to the devs, and it's pretty silly to have to pay to be able to free your phone from the grips of a greedy corporation.

Except for the fact that the only truly reliable network in my area is Verizon. Frankly, I'm tired of getting screwed with this stuff just because I'm rural.

so are the CDMA community simply not seeing this thread, or do you not care? please post.
Are we strictly talking the Verizon CDMA version?
I know that Boost and US Cell are both selling the Moto G. I would be interested in having detailed instructions for rooting and unlocking the bootloader for a Boost version

I would definitely make a donation of 20$ to get my bootloader unlocked. If I had known at the time of purchase I NEVER would have bought this phone!! I NEED Root. never had this problem with any other phone or carrier

Root would definitely be easier to achieve, perhaps edit the title to something like:
"BOUNTY: Unlock Bootloader and/or Root for XT1028"
I'm on too!
$100 the GSM version? Where? Only with 2yr contract right?
nice to see more people are on board!

I think the bounty should be clear. we should ask for root or bootloader, not both. MORE MEMBERS chime in on this please.
also when you post, let's also discuss the method we are going to raise money. In the OP I mentioned three.

I would be down for donating 20 to 30 bucks for some ROM flashing abilities. Allow the XT1028 to have a recovery and I will show my gratitude monetarily. Bonus if someone could mimic the DROID3's safestrap "ROM slots" ability. Swap roms almost instantly is awesome. Where is HASHCODE when we need him!?
Sorry, probably a dumb question but would this allow the Boost version of the Moto G to be unlocked as a GSM phone as well or just CDMA?
Thanks

Joining the Turbo 2 wagon

Just ordered it on eBay. As far as I know, it's unlocked and does not have the Verizon logo. Will I be able to root it?
I've read great reviews on this phone, and hence ordered it. But, the overall picture on this forum looks grim.
What do I need to know? What are the first things I should do after getting it?

If it's unlocked and does not have the Version logo then its the moto force x , and yes you can root it , droid turbo 2 does not have root.

Hopefully you've ordered Moto X Force. First charge it, put your sim, sd card (if you have), turn it on, install apps and enjoy. If you you wish, you can unlock bootloader first. Because procedure will do factory reset your phone but I have Force for about half of the year and this is my very first Android phone, including nexus, running stock, locked bl and no rooted.
I think we are in the same boat.
I bought the Droid Turbo 2 on Ebay from a Chinese seller. He said it's factory unlocked and It isn't the Verizon version.
Looking at the details it looks like Droid Turbo 2(xt1585 and bands are not as X Force).
I don't know if they are selling X Force as Droid Turbo 2 or they get the Verizon phore direct from factory without the logo but this put me think on what about updates.
What is in about? Maybe they got them directly from factory.

Verizon Moto G4 Play not Unlockable?

Hey guys , trying to unlock my Moto G4 Play but the the Moto site says my device is not eligible . However the OEM Unlock is turned on in settings? Any help would be appreciated, really want root.
Anyone? Please can't stand the bloat
Be patient. The XT1607 isn't even on the chart yet about what devices are eligible for unlock. It's the same model as the one sold unlocked by moto and Amazon, so I find it unlikely that it won't eventually get the unlock, but since it's only been out for 4 days now you need to chillax.
I plan to make a rom for cdma as soon as the unlock is possible, but it could be a few weeks/month.

The Verizon model is the XT1609 from what I've read.

That's okay, it's still being sold direct from moto like the 1607 is as an unlocked cdma phone, so my statement *should* still apply. I think we're going to see a bootloader unlock very soon. Moto is just dragging their feet a little, I mean the stock restore images aren't even available yet for fixing a bricked phone.
As long as we're all patient, I really don't see this being one of the phones that doesn't get an unlock. It's in their best interest at this price point as an unlocked bootloader means some inexperienced users will brick them and since their bootloader is unlocked the warranty is void, which means they'll likely buy another to replace it because, let's face it: what other options are there for cdma, unlocked, under $200USD?

I just got the phone today - the standard, no-ads edition (xt1607). I was able to unlock the bootloader, even though the G4 Play is not listed on the motorola website. Chances are the Verizon version is locked down.
After doing a little research, I found out that the XT1607 will work on all major American carriers including Verizon. The XT1609 looks to be a Verizon prepaid version of this phone.

How did you manage to unlock the bootloader? I set the OEM unlock toggle in developer settings, but when I copied the code from fastboot to the bootloader unlock site it said my XT1607 isn't eligible.
Maybe they just finally got around to adding it, so I'll try again

Did you get the Amazon prime edition with ads? If so, the bootloader isn't unlockable. It was initially on the g4 and g4 plus, but they stopped allowing it back in July or August.

Correct, but Verizon typically doesn't allow bootloader unlocking. A Verizon branded phone probably won't be unlockable.

Kind of the wrong place for this question as this thread is about bootloader unlocking (for rooting), not carrier unlocking. I'm interested in any possible answer to this question too (seems like a half way decent budget smartphone to use on AT&T or Cricket) but from what I can gather, Verizon had a recent policy change which prohibits carrier unlocking until one year of ownership has passed. Maybe there is a workaround other than ebay (doesn't seem to be unlock codes for this phone there). Maybe you can try starting a new thread titled something like "Carrier Unlocking For Verizon Moto G4 Play" to get some more traction on this question. Good luck.
Edit: Didn't notice that you posted a couple of posts down saying that you got rid of it. Guess you could care less about unlocking it.

I would imagine that all the G4 Plays are the same (hardware wise) and the GSM would be a software thing. I'm just making an assumption based on previous models, but it wouldn't matter much anyway if Moto/Verizon didn't allow anyway around it. Maybe someday someone will unlock one of these and we can test it out. Just a little curious.
HI
I have my xt1607 bricked, even no solution? Thank you

one plus 6t refub tmobel safe to buy & unlock bootloader?

I think I really want the oneplus 6t I see there is a problem in unlocking the boot loader
I dont care about the sim lock as im using tmobel all ready.
I do see some guides as a work around. I really want to unlock the boot loader as soon as I get the phone.
Any problems with my idea? (yes I did search before asking better to be on the safe side. I just returned a google pixel because I figured the boot loader could be unlocked)
I see amazon is around 265$ us ebay and swappa about $240.
amazon is much easier to return if its a bad esn or any thing like that. Any other idea were I may get it for cheaper than 250$ ish?
or is that just the going rate. I know black Friday is a few weeks away.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post
Its very safe, just buy, convert, unlock bootloader and enjoy. Am Currently using one?
Can't you just buy an unlocked one on Swappa?

I have the TMobile OnePlus 6t. Called the TMobile Twitter support team and they unlocked it the very same day I bought it. Got my info I needed and 2 hours later I was unlocked and converted to international with root and twrp.
