Hello, guys. I hope you all are great.
I have a concern... I don't know wether the issue I am facing is specific for the XT1575 or is a general android problem. Here it is:
I have a Moto X Style and I am facing this problem: slow battery charging. There are 2 symptoms that I noticed:
1. When I turn on the screen after starting charging with the screen off, the cell phone stops charging (using fast charger or ordinary one). To continue charging, I have to unplug and plug again and again.
# I believe the fault is software. But I am not sure about that.
2. About 5 days ago the turbo charger (and common charger) is charging very very very slowly. It is not normal. To charge 1%, it takes about 20 min. I ran the Ampere app and realized that the current during charging is between 230 and 260mA. If I am not mistaken, using the turbo, it should be at 1600 to 1800mA.
I realized that fault after a trip. In it I needed to charge the phone in the USB 5V car charger and did not charge properly (same symptom described above).
What have I already done testing?
- I had a let the battery drain 100%, so that I started to charge. Nothing has changed.
- I had tried charge using the fast charge that came along with the cellphone and ordinary ones. Nothing has changed.
Has anyone had this? Is there any way for me to go and fix it?
The cell phone is awesome, although the battery is your biggest con. Without the turbo charger it gets me some doubts regarding if I can still have it...
I really appreciate your help.
One extra update: I have just factory reseted and everything is still the same as stated previously.
Something says to me that the issue is software. The reason is that I use a pin code to protect my device and after I turn the screen on (after typing the pin), the device stopped charging. So that I had to unplug and plug it once again to continue the charging.
The thing is that after I factory reseted and realized that the issue continued, I tried to suspend the use of pin code.
Result: the second flaw stopped. I mean that after turning the screen on the battery continue to charge normally.
Now the fast charging pretty slowly still...

You most likely have a bad cable or adapter... there is no known software issue with charging on any Moto X device.
Less likely: bad USB port in the phone or bad battery
Even less likely: bad main board in the phone
Find a friend with a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge (just saying because they common) and plug into their stock charger, it should pop-up the turbo charging toast messaging within a couple seconds.
I see... So, I agree with you. Even based on that my Moto x is really new. No more than 1 month...
I will look for another turbo charger and try once again.
Oh, and one more thing, even the cause may not be related to software, I intend to downgrade to 5.1 and try once again. If nothing occurs, I will update to 6.0.1 and move my life on.
Thank you in advance!

Don't do that... Why on earth would you want to do something as dangerous as downgrade?
I don't know. Maybe the fact that it can be a software issue...

It's not software... But I'm no expert either. If it is software you are the first person to discover it. Try a new charger or just connect a buddies to test it.
Unfortunately, I believe that the issue is hardware related.
I charged with another fast charger and problem persists...

soo my issue is the fast charging.
first few days it was fast charging everything worked fine after that it stoped fast charging. when i plug it in it dosent show "fast charge connected" insted it shows " usb ".... so i thought something wrong with the cable so i changed it.... so i changed just the cable not the plug works fine. my first thought is that the cable is broken or something,
1. can that be true that the cable is not proper build?
2. does it affect anything that i charge my phone with an older cable?
Just double check under settings, power settings, fast charging is still checked. Once I accidently uncheked it.

no no the fast charging is checked.... like i said with the cable that came with the phone fast charging is not working...... other cables yes everythings normal
That's odd because the cable has nothing to do with it. Maybe your stock cable has been damaged.
I don't know it's confusing to me too. because the first two days it was working great after that It's not fast charging . maybe my cable was bad made!! but fast charging is working with another cable l have from my old s3 !

Also does it affect something on my battery that im using an old cable for fast charging???

How do you know of fast charging is working? Thought the screen had to be off?
Yes the cable will affect fast charging. Fast charging only works with cables of certain gauge (thickness). You must have damaged your cable, or it was already damaged before you got it. Don't worry this has no effect on the battery, no degradation.

ok so the cable could have been already damaged...... the thing is when i fast charge it with the other cable it charges the same time as the cable that came with the phone.... i also noticed that i get the same battery life also...... sooooo i there must be no harm at all right????
rapid charging multiple issues
My Note 4 did the same thing: 1st charge worked great, then it started showing connected to the RC, but unable to charge and flashing LED. Sometimes it still charges okay (not rapid) and sometimes really crawls. The "not able to charge" plops up every few minutes. Word was that there was a chord issue with the OEM and that they were fixed, but replacing the ones that were shipped already with a problem. That didn't fix my issue. The new word is that it's a device issue in some cases. For me, it does appear to be the device since I've done a FDR and tested multiple chargers, chords, OEM and carrier options. Contacting Samsung today as a DOA device. I'll let you know what happens. :fingers-crossed:

If you are hooking it up to a computer to charge, you will not get fast charging. It has to be plugged in with the power plug only to get a fast charge.

I got a replacement device by warranty and it's charging exactly as it should. All of my cables and plugs are working.
Wow...it's fast...faster than expected even! I'm loving the new Note, now! Just one of those things that happens sometimes.
Good luck with getting yours working. I should think it would be covered by the warranty.
Happy holidays to you and yours!
replacement
How long did it take to get a replacement? Had my phone for almost a month now and its very on /off with the charging. When i first got it it showed fast charger connected and got 50% charge as advertised in half an hour. Now it will, if im lucky charge maybe 10% in an hour. Just now, went to bed with 13%. 5hrs later it got to 32%. Havent tried a different cable and plug combo yet.

Another thing to check, make sure the standard usb end is snug in the charging adapter. Mine wasn't fast charging, but it was slow charging (I think - showed lightening bolt in battery icon) and then I pushed the usb into the fast charging wall adapter a little more and it resolved the issue

I've had my Note since December last. It was fast charging just fine for about a month then I noticed it became sporadic, then it went to slow charge after that, then stopped charging altogether.
I changed the cable and it started to fast charge again for about a month and the same thing happened. It just deteriorated over time until it stopped charging.. So this is what I've been doing since. I'm on my third cable now. I've been wondering if the higher voltage etc, that enables the fast charge feature breaks the cable down. Just a thought:confused.
I had the same issue when I just got my note 4 a few months back. It turn out to be the charger that is causing the problem. I went to the service centre (in Singapore), the reception told me it is a common problem with the charger. Had it changed and the problem solved.
fast charge
So my problem was that the first days fast charging was working then I deside to desable the fast charge and now I can't enable I need help
Hello,
First off I want to preface this by saying I have my bootloader unlocked, rooted, running a 6.0.1 ROM.
This past weekend I noticed that my phone wasn't charging on a generic 4 port USB charger that I have. Made sure it had power, tried it on my tablet I had laying around, and eventually got it to charge using a different cable. No problem, stuff like that happens. Noticed it was "charging slowly" Hmm..wonder if the USB charger is going back. Tried it other places, but always getting EXTREMELY slow charges. Unfortunately I had my OEM charger at work at my desk so I couldn't try that but I have a QuickCharge 2.0 car charger that I tried. I plugged it in there and I was actually LOSING charge at what seems like a faster rate than just a normal drain. WTF!?
Got to my destination (going to my buddy's house) and tried a few of his chargers; same thing, "charging slowly". Made it through the weekend, got home and the problem is still going on with all my chargers.
So today, I get to work to try my OEM quickcharge and it drains my battery as well! Oh boy. This is bad.
Anyone else experience this? Since I've unlocked bootloader and no extended warranty AND the fact that Moto Support is god awful anyway, I'm screwed when it comes to professional help. Anyone have luck opening up this beast and fixing anything? Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.
My phone isn't charging very well either. I went out to do some errands and phone was on 84% saying it'll be charged in 35 minutes I came home three hours later it's still on 84% with 35 minutes to go and burning up to touch. This is already my fourth Moto X in the week.

Not the same charger but all four different chargers the phone comes with. I ordered it on Amazon with next day arrival and the first two phones had dead pixels third one was reading 138 degrees with ampere while charging and would stop and fourth (current) refuses to charge past 84% unless I have the phone off I noticed. I unlocked the bootloader on this current one though so I don't think I'll be able to exchange it now

Question to OP: DId you ever find a resolution? I have recently noticed that my XT1575 (currently restored to stock 6.0 but still unlocked) actually LOSES charge while "charging" (as reported in Battery setting) in my Car (12vDC) and on my motorcycle (12vDC). Granted, I am running GMaps and streaming music running, among other apps... In fact, I just saw the charge drop from 74% to 68% in about 15 mins while driving this morning... On the other hand, when plugged into AC Turbo charger, I can run all those apps and then some, and charging, the battery charge goes up 1-2% per minute... Wondering if anyone else has seen similar issue when charging via DC current?

now that I think about it, its DC going into the phone regardless of the source, so the type current is not a factor... so assuming I don't have bad cables, what could be causing the difference?

Upon further research I just discovered and ordered a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 capable car adapter... I'll bet the "standard" usb power the phone can draw from a cheap car adapter isn't sufficient to effectively charge on top of streaming, GPS mapping, Bluetooth stereo and screen on... Lets, see what the new 2.0 QC adapter can do next week....

I've noticed issues with the charging port. I have two brand new 25w turbo chargers and neither of them connect/charge my phone. I got an OEM USB cable and connected it to my old Droid Turbo charger and that is the only charger that works for me. Bummer. Was considering sending back the phone to moto, but I'm unlocked and have a feeling they would not repair/research it...

You can download an app called "Ampere" it will actually show you the charge and discharge rate that the phone is doing. Might help out in determining what is wrong.
For those experiencing issues with the device not charging to 100% when it is extremely hot, this is normal behavior. This is from Motorola...
Some facts on battery temperature
* Devices need their space; There are no on-board fans, cooling relies solely on the device being able to dissipate heat through the air. To help cooling, ensure the device is not in a pocket, purse, carrying case, or direct sunlight.
* Normal temperature is (97f) ~36c
* A user will begin to sense a “warm” device at 106f (~41c) and it will seem hot at 109f (~43c)
* Cool Down Mode kicks in at 152f (67c)
* Batteries with temps => 113f to 140f (45c to 60c) will not charge to 100% capacity
* Battery temps >140f (60c)will not charge at all

My Moto G4 Plus charges super slowly.
Like it would take 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100, no matter what charger I use, even the Turbo charger.
However, if I reboot the phone, the phone charges quickly, but after a day's use, it's back to slow charging when I plug it in at night.
I have no idea what's causing this, I am on the 'NPJ25.93-14' build and I had reset the phone once after updating it to this build and before using it.
This doesn't seem to be related to any app because the discharge rate is normal.
Can someone help me out with this issue please? I don't really want to reset

The cable and the turbo adapter, make sure they are super connected to each other. Like, the USB at the end of the cable is sooooo in the adapter. You may think at first that it is all the way in but actually it should be all the way IN there. Happened to me the first time I was charging my phone. I didn't realize it was not all the way in. Push it more.

Then that might be the problem. Not all sockets have the same amount of voltage. You may be plugging it in a low voltage socket that causes your phone to charge very slow. The socket where it charges fast, that's where you should charge it.

And when charging switch off your phone..
When charging when switched on turn on Aeroplane mode..
Switch off data and wifi, hotspot, location...etc while charging..

This can be solved very easily. Just have to use a different way of approach.
First:
Keep charging around 50%(not necessarily but will help you to notice changes).
Second:
Play a hard core game( which will drain your battery rapidly). Then again charge till where you had in first step(approximation not necessary).
Third:
Till now your phone will be super heated(its moto g4 plus obviously).
Plug in the charger again and repeat step second.
Fourth:
Battery will not charge for few min(may take upto 30min or so).
Then it will start charging slowing.charge upto 5% then stop playing game.
Fifth:
leave the phone aside and do other works.
Sixth:
when phone will charge 90%+ , remove charging and start using phone, it will drain more quickly.
Seventh:
Drop 10-20%. Let the phone cool down (like ice). Then use very less frequently for about an hour.
Eight:
Start charging again. And here you go its again in turbo charging.
//Step are not complicated and are subjected to change according to phone conditions.
Result depends on user and phone set only.//
T&C applied.

You will need to replace Flash Flex Cable. It controls G4/plus fast charging. It´s relatively easy to replace by yourself.
Hi Folks...
My Nexus 7, rooted with Cyanogenmod 10.2.1. Grouper since 2014, has been absolutely trouble free until now.
The charging icon was spinning, indicating the battery was being charged, but it was not. The charge never went up, it only when down. This is with the factory wall charger.
At first I suspected software issues, as I noticed mediaserver appeared to be draining. I did a data reset, and the mediaserver usage went away. But the charging indicator still indicated charging even though it wasn't. I also tried the "magic bullet" battery apps, but I didn't expect them to help, and they did not.
I replaced the USB port as I thought it might be bad, and a bit worn out. That did not correct the problem.
I bought a new battery and that did not correct the problem.
That brings me to where I am now. I modified a USB cable that externally charges the battery. The battery quickly and fully charges, and the tablet works as it used to. When that battery starts going down (to about 20%, but it takes a while as it is only sipping the juice!), I pull that battery out and replace it with a freshly recharged battery (yes, also externally charged). Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue where the data cable in the USB port is working but the charging cable in the USB port isn't getting the charge up to the battery. Should my next step be to replace ribbon cables, and if so, which ones and where would I get them? I know opening the tablet up every other day to switch out batteries isn't the best way to go! I did a search, but did not find anyone with a similar problem.
Thanks!!!
I was too wordy above.
The spinning icon indicates the tablet is charging, but it is not. USB port and battery have been replaced to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!
LOL.... I'm having a pretty good conversation with myself! That's okay. I talk to myself a lot... and it helps me figure things out for myself. The latest: swapping externally recharged batteries is keeping the tablet running fine. But now, whenever I go to Battery in Settings, the only item listed as using battery is Android System, at 100%. No longer is screen or other apps listed. Oh well... Think I'd better do a Titanium backup soon!
Does it charge it the unit is powered off?
Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
Thank you for the reply! No. It doesn't charge with the tablet turned off. It will show the charging animation when you press the power button, so it appears to be charging, but it's not. Oh.. I did clear the Dalvic cache and the battery settings is once again showing all battery usage.
You could try a pogo cable if you can find one. Really sounds like a capacitor in the charging curcuit is bad. I would just swap out the motherboard.

Thank you, PsiPhi! I apologize for the late reply. I've just continued to swap battery with a freshly charged one. I looked and saw that the motherboards are not that expensive. Kind of surprised me. I should give that a try. Again... thank you!
My phone is two months old and has ceased to quick-charge. Actually, 90% of the time, it will only charge when powered down. I use the factory charger and cable but get a message that I need to use the original charger and cable. Catch 22?
I bought it at Best Buy so I took it back to them this evening. My charger is fine as is my cable. Best Buy confirmed that my issue is a factory defect and politely sent me on my way. I take care of my phones if nothing more than the fact that I've had to replace micro USB ports in the past. The weird thing is that when it charges powered down, it seems to refresh to full battery very quickly.
Has anyone else had similar issues? If in fact, I do have to deal with ZTE, what has been members experience?
Thank you for letting me vent.

U can test your charger using USB volt amp reader on another phone which supports quick charging.
If charger works as it should then u need to test your phone with multimeter to see how much current it draws while phone is powered off without charger (battery only).
But that means you need to open 2 month old phone which i dont recommend if u have warranty.
Axon 7 draws about 2.66-2.68 amps while in quick charging mode. Volts i forgot but i think it was 6v. I'm not in shop at the moment so i cant know exactly.
But for amps i remembered.
Wallor77, thank you for your reply. My charger is in good working order. In fact, I have several 2.0 and 3.0 chargers. They all work fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The Samsung displays "Fast Charger Connected" on the lock screen.
Now my ZTE Axon 7 will not charge while it is powered up. As soon as I turn it off, it charges just fine. This is really annoying!

If your charger and cable are OK, perhaps have you recently installed an application which limits the power. Such methods exists in some antivírus to preserve the health of the battery. It's just an idea.

Same thing there. If it charges normally while power off u need to see how much amps. USB volt amp reader is a good little device. I recommend for everyone to get one. It cost about 15 bucks. From there it's all about elemination process to diagnose proper issue

I second this. But $15?! You can get them for about $5 on aliexpress!
U have USB volt amp reader with both volt units, amp units, time duration and mAh over time charged value. But 15$ was about avarage price listing. I'm sure there is cheaper as well.
UPDATE: 6/2/17
I ended up sending my phone to the ZTE repair center in TX. It took about 3 weeks to get it back. There was no explanation of what was repaired and I received my original phone; not a refurbished one. All I know was that it was covered.

I am in the process of returning my 3rd Axon to ZTE. 2 of them have had this problem. It's definitely known because when I was talking to them and told them what was happening they just kind went "yeah ok" and fast tracked the whole thing. Thank god for this warranty, their quality control is ****e.
anyone noticed that occasionally it stops charging?

Last night, mine started doing this. It goes on and off about every two seconds. What's weird is it only does this with the quick charger. it slow charges when connected to a PC usb just fine. Its not the OEM charger either since my wife's quick charges just fine with the exact same charger.
Guess I'm going to have to call ZTE....
Mine suddenly stopped quick charging - I have 3 different chargers that work fine with other phones except for this one. And chances of all 3 of them going bad at the same time are slim to none. Tested different cables as well, but again same result. It charges with normal speed even when connected to QC3.0. Tried wiping cache. I think it's no different if I turn the phone off. Think it might be time to move on. Had it since December 2016, so I guess it's nearly 2 years old now. Still shame.

Quick update. Swapping batteries (OEM) hasn't helped. I wonder if this is software or hardware related
Let me add to this thread. I'm also not getting quick charge anymore for maybe a month already. Tried different cables, booting to safe mode, etc. There are few instances where i see quick charging but very rarely. I was thinking it's my usb port but I haven't opened my phone yet to verify.
