Hey guys. Today was the day i broke my S7 Edge its screen. Its the first time i broke a phone screen. It looks very bad even though it was in a case which held up the screen from the ground. Anyways, i want to let a phone shop repare it. But the phone shop is not a Samsung partner. What are the cons of this. Will the phone still be water resistent and is there a chance that the screen might not be original. Is there a chance that the new display isnt even 1440p but 1080p. Is there a chance the replacement screen wont be an AMOLED screen? I have mixed feelings about it. Anyways I would like to ask you guys for help
Well for one thing, what you're thinking is highly unlikely, if not impossible. If the screen replacement wasn't the same resolution, or wasn't AMOLED, it won't work, because the circuits, drivers, firmware and software will be different. The water resistance may be a problem though. Even if repaired in a Samsung partner, there is no guarantee that it will still be water resistant.

Honestly I have no idea. I never go to non Samsung authorized centers.

They have procedures like factory, so you won't notice the difference - search for OCA or LOCA screen. If your screen is ok, then replace glass only. LCD is easy to replace, but it'll cost about 300$ just for the part. Glass replacement in my country is 120$ with replacement and 12 months guarantee.
Remember that in factory there are also humans, who assemble that magic
My LCD is also damaged. Have 3 sets of dead pixels. But my phoneits guarantee will not be valid anymore if i do it at a non authorized samsung shop. Thanks anyways for your help. Will look on youtube about the OCA and LOCA

From the looks, the LCD itself is still intact, so you can probably get replacement glass for a small price, then have someone who services phones do the work of replacing the glass. From what I've seen on YouTube, it's scary trying to do it yourself as the screen is very thin, and too easily broken if you make a mistake attempting to remove the glass.
Check in the Swappa boneyard and see if there are any of your model S4 with a bad IMEI or other non-screen issue. It may not be more economical than above, but you certainly would have less work involved in getting the device up and running.
Hey,
I'm looking for a new Digitizer, I live in the UK so can't be buying stuff from America because postage is a joke
Most of the ones I've found online are poor quality ones that have no curved edge or bad led light area (a big clear circle) or only have support for 1, 3, 5, 6 multi touch points when it should be 10
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Are you referring to the glass on the front of the phone? The glass on front is basically a screen a protector. I believe the digitizer is beneath the LCD.
Even if he is referring to the digitizer or the whole assembly, to find original parts is really hard, leftovers from authorized lg repair centers sometimes end up on ebay/online shops but u need to have a good eye, plus they cost more from refurbished or counterfeit/compatible parts (pricing is not the only thing u must check). There are shops in the UK claiming that they have original lcd's/digitizers maybe they sell grade b lg parts maybe the real deal, so its easier to deal with them, a simple Google search will lead you to them so if the part u buy its not up to your standards u can return it. In the end even from China u can find screens which are really close to the original have the curved edges and support 10 finger touch but they might have other imperfections. So if you want the exact same screen which ur phone had from the factory ur best bet is UK shops or pay an lg service center... I won't name shops here but it's really easy to find them after all there are not many in UK that carry this parts for the specific device...
The glass is not the digitizer, or am I wrong? I have always assumed that the glass cover on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 were like the Samsung phones.

The digitizer is the layer between the glass and the lcd
Hey,
I don't know how or why, but my screen got a pretty annoying knick in the glass. I think I left it on a desk and someone came and threw their bag dirty backpack on the desk on a little rock or metal bit from their bag scratched the screen.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how or where I can get the glass replaced. I was looking around the forum and people were saying the screen itself costs like $400 in repairs, but I don't need the LCD replaced, just the front glass pane.
PS. I am in Canada, on Rogers.
There is a youtube guy that has his own repair facility. Tech md. I have no clue how reliable he is or how good his work is but i was watching one of his repair videos the other day and i believe he said he would repair any galaxy glass for 100 as long as u mention his video. Just someone u might look into
Go to your local mall, there are always booths for phone repairs of popular phones.

I'd live with the scratch if it's gonna cost hundreds of dollars, which it will. .02$
Hello everyone. So here am I, with a gorgeous S7 edge. The thing made it that some weeks ago this glass thing slipped through my fingers (even tough I had a case on it) and if felt exactly on one of the lower end corners, crackind it's screen. It's not a big deal, just 1-2 inches there, but the problem is that it is. And I struggled to hold on with this visual problem (since the display is fortunately intact), I still want to replace it's glass.
Well, since in my country the screen replacement almost costs half of the price I gave on this phone, I started to have different questions about the repairing, the most important of all being this one: Will replacing the glass remove it's water ingress protection? The repair shop advertises that it offers lamination as repair process, wich in theory should maintain the water protection, but since I can't find any certain answer to this question, I am hoping to find it somewhere here. So, anyone who replaced their phone's glass still has water protection or not? Thanks for checking by, and any answer will be greatly appreciated.
PS: Happy holidays to everyone. :victory:
Front glass cannot be replaced WITHOUT DAMAGING THE SCREEN, so you had to live with it, or go to authorized samsung repair center and give them the fee for glass repair, if your screen is damaged during replacing they MAY OR MAY NOT fix it for free depending on your country. As far as water protection, only samsung repair center can guarantee the water protection after repair. Can't say anything about local repair shops.

Ok, thanks for the info. Well, many repair stores in my local area now are repairing the glass without damaging the screen, and they guarantee the success, damaging the display (if it's the case) being paid from their side. I was just wondering if it's a posibility to maintain the water resitance after the repair, but I'll try to contact a samsung repair center and a local shop to see the fees and the posibility exists.

No one can guarantee this bro, even newly box packed phone cannot guarantee water resistance* as water resistance is NOT by any means waterproofed. Good luck

what u talkin? I've had glass replaced, The glue is removed with very cold temperature, without damaging screen.
any repair dont guarantee waterproof, even when original.
I've paid about 120$ in Poland for oca film. if you have courage nad ability to change it yourself, then repair would cost about 10$
When you go to Samsung they will replace both glass and display , the will re waterproof your phone as a policy , Everytime they open up the phone it has to be waterproofed .
Do any one what shall be the repair cost for the only glass replacement on the front, or shall be the whole digitizer be replaced.
Has any one got any Information please share, As I purchased online and I am middle of nowhere in Saudi and it is hard to find a Samsung service center near by.
I don't think there is a glass only replacement for this device, though I could be wrong. In the event that you have to replace the entire screen, here in Malaysia, samsung charges around $250 USD for it to be replaced. It is terribly expensive, I know.
Samsung wont replace only glass of the screen. They will replace all screen with price about $200-250. And maybe that contains new frame and new battery too.

In 250 USD I can get a new Note FE, Here in Saudi Arabia, Thanks to all for the help.
I had my own Note FE in it's Samsung Smart cover case but it fell from my coat waisi pocket into the pavement and it got out of the case and cracked the top right corner of the screen.
Not big damage but I'm easily annoyed with that kind of stuff. There is a service shop here in the UK that offers screen repair for the Note FE for 110gbp. I have emailed them and I'm waiting for their réponse to confirm the details. If they can fix it indeed, then immediately after I'm getting an otterbox defender case to put it inside and have it fully protected from all sides...!
