Hello,

I'm from belgium, and I don't want to revert to stock to see if the ota is available.
Since I would lose all my apps and configs.
Thnx for you help

According to Twitter from Motorola Germamy, moto X style wont get nugat this year. Propably its gonna be February 2017.

Thnx for your reply.
So mad they don't update that quick as stated on the internet.
This will be my last phone from that company.

I hope you are planning on getting a Pixel then, since this is normal update speed for just about every device manufacturer. At least they got the Z updated, Samsung's flagships are still waiting (with exception of the S7 Nougat beta).

Timing is all speculation of course, in the tweet that @gemtin92 mentioned, if you scroll down you'll notice that Moto_Support chimes in to say:

Which is the typical response.

Why this need for the update? Nougat is not yet stable on any devices (except a couple of flagships that cost 2-3x more). MM still works perfect, does everything.

Well you cannot deny that Nougat improves the user experience, in particular quick toggles and separation of notifications from the same app. If Lenovo can issue a stable Nougat the sooner the better!

" Quick toggles and separation of notifications from the same app"? I prefer a stable and usable phone than one with gimmicks that I will never use but with issues in stability.

Quick toggles? Luke what we used to have in previous Android builds? Use xposed and Android n-ify.

That would be great. Kind of frustrating that you hear news about every Moto device except the Pure/Style...
Hopefully that really is Motorola's Android build and not AICP or CM...

Makes the wait all the more worthwhile IF they jump us up to 7.1.1

Knowing that the 7.1 or 7.1.1 might not be rootable... I would say that the hype about Nougat is just that - hype.

I've been playing with the 7.1.1 roms out there for the device and can say I like it. Just a thought, and would be fine with me if true. But isn't google saying it'll make assistant available to other devices after some amount of time? Now it would be very cool if the update had all that working on release. I understand the argument for MM roms being capable of it now with exposed, but wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to go through hoops every-time we want to use something? Not even going to get into the security updates and the stated update policy being one of the reasons why I got the pure as opposed to other phones available at the time

None... Xposed is dying. The developers have said it will die, it's just a matter of when. It may come to Nougat or may not, as security in Android gets tighter and tighter the possibility that Xposed will continue to work gets lower and lower. Remember last year around this time? The developers said Xposed wouldn't work on Marshmallow, and most of the team had given up and called it dead when a fluke breakthrough happened and they were able to make it work, but there is no guarantee it will happen again.
What's the point anyway, why the love of Xposed, just use a custom ROM w/o Xposed or stay pure stock.

Yesterday, i saw system upgrade notify.

Android 5.1 is around the corner

Google officially released Android 5.1 on 9th March for Nexus devices.
I am hoping that it should be released to AOSP within this week. So people what do u think?? What are the chances of One Plus One getting Android 5.1 straight way?

As a Nexus user i hope AOSP code gets released soon, i'm not used to wait. ☺
Update: AOSP being uploaded...
This thread makes no sense. CM12 is based on 5.0.2. Of course the next release of CM12s for the OPO will not be based on Android 5.1. You don't really need a poll for that.
Will CM12 update to 5.1 or are they going to wait until a staple 5.0.x is completed
Not sure why people always open ETA threas whenever there is an update on versions by google.
If YOU are a developer and you wish to release a 5.1 based rom, give us ETA. Otherwise ,none of these threads are going to fasten the process, or the way other developers work.
If YOU think, a thread like this will help, go ahead and open similar thread on all OnePlus forums. :goteam:

Nobody reading this can answer those questions, it's pointless asking. All you're going to get is baseless speculation.
Transmitted via Bacon
Yet another Thread which is asking us to imagine things which don't exists yet. So may people are begging for Lollipop 5.0.2 from a long time(and we already have so many Lollipop based ROMs) and @op wants us to believe our device will get 5.1 which is again pointless.
Is there an option for "I don't care". My Amazon Fire Phone run smoother than the OnePlus and Moto X running Lollipop. I'll wait to see ColorOS get update to Lollipop or OxygenOS mature. For now I'm using ColorOS because it's the only rom that have continuous autofocus working for camera recording and 50MP photo.

The 2013 Moto X is the prime example of why specs aren't everything. My Droid Maxx is nearly the same device with a larger battery (which is what the X desperately needed at times), it's been hard letting go of that phone for my OPO.

From my experience the X didn't need a bigger battery? I consistently got 4.5+h SOT on that phone, and my Mum still gets the same on it now.
i dont find 4,5 hrs to be good. On my oneplus I get 7-9 hrs depending on how I use it.

Moto X
4.5*60=270minutes
2200mah/270 minutes = 8.1mah per min of SOT
OnePlus One
7*60=420
3100mah/420 minutes = 7.4mah per min of SOT
So while there is a difference, it isn't really that great. And considering that I have only ever got 7h SOT once, but generally get 5.5-6, they are about even (6h SOT = 8.6mah per min of SOT). I know it's a weird way to measure it, but I've found it to be accurateish across device.
Yeah, it's already been announced that CM12s will be based on 5.0
I got maybe 2 hours? It was awful and the main criticism from several outlets and communities is the battery life. Otherwise it's honestly one of my favorite phones ever.
Battery life is actually great. There are other problems. Like the mic not working

I, too, had a droid maxx, and while I also loved it, don't think the battery life was much better than the 1+. Do miss that carbon fiber back, active display, and voice commands, though. What a great phone that was, especially for the $150 they sell for these days.

So, no idea when there will be official release, but it seems stable. It is very similar to the P10's firmware at this point.
Update: The chinese version includes Google Play Services out of the box. Interesting.
Then Huawei's statement about "Phones on EMUI 5.0 won't be getting 5.1" is utter bull****? Nice going there Huawei! >< Are there any changes in the Camera App, enabling the Pro Video mode? Would you mind seeing how it does the GPS, with Galileo as well? Does it see more, then 1 EU satellite?

Thanks, work with that German fella from the GPS thread to log the output and see if it's changed. To test the camera, well try zooming 1.1x and see if the quality and sharpness improves. Was a 'bug' on some firmwares.

Yes, I am specifically looking to have the ability of
Hiding apps,
Removing the navigation bar when using the navigation circle,
Double tap when driving,
Customisation,
Better Dock and home screen,
and Softtouch
as this gem is capable of all of them. Otherwise for a few "Bugs fixed" and "Security patches" wouldn't wanna see another 1GB of storage and memory wasted.
Plus the Chinese version has a different story and nothing to do with the international version. That is why it matters.

It's a really big security patch for one of the largest Android vulnerabilities too. I'm glad it enhances swipe, the samsung keyboard is particularly inaccurate on this phone.
Does NOT patch BlueBorne Vulnerability!!!!
Installed the update this morning. It does NOT eliminate the BlueBorne vulnerability, unless Armis' scanner is broken ...
EDIT: Contacted Armis and received the following in response:
Armis Security said:
We have reviewed this. It appears that Verizon pushed a critical update that addresses BlueBorne. However, in our review they did not change the security patch level of this build to September 1, 2017. The Security Patch Level (SPL) in build NMF26X.N950USQU1AQI5 shows a date of August 1, 2017.
We have updated our device scan and review to account for this, and it will be available on the Google Play store shortly.
Thank you for reaching out us on this issue.

EDIT #2: An updated version of the BlueBorne Scanner from Armis is available on Google Play. I've installed it, but unfortunately it still indicates that VZW devices are vulnerable.
UPDATE: Armis' app has been updated to version 1.04, which correctly identifies VZW Note 8s as having been patched to eliminate the vulnerability.
It changed my 4GLTE icon so that it is constantly highlighted even on Wi-Fi. I don't think that was present before unless I'm mistaken
Just got it yesterday and also turned it onto this this morning. The OTA's on my S7 Active over on AT&T completely and eventually thrashed my phone and was eventually unusable. So I'm waiting.

Then you should have coughed up and purchased a Pixel.
I loved Android 5.x.x on my previous daily driver: 1+1. A highly customized CyanogenMod that worked exceedingly well for me. The hype of any newer version of Android OS is exactly that: hype! I was more than happy with Android 5.x.x. Nothing in Oreo attracts me. What I do care about is the security updates and Essential has been pretty good about pushing out monthly Android security updates.

The beta is awesome. They're working on fixing the rest of the issues the phone has before release (speakerphone echo, scroll stuttering, etc). Read their ama's on Reddit, they've been way more transparent than any other manufacturer. Give it time, they'll get it right.

Thanks
Just installed the new beta. Didn't realize I would lose the option for TMobile WiFi calling. Has anyone been able to install the new beta and get TMobile wifi calling to work? I had read that there are some commands that can be issued through adb to enable WiFi calling? Anyone know if that is accurate?

Just search for wifi calling in settings. I'm running the second Oreo beta and I have it.

About ghost image / burn-in screen / image retention, how to fixes? US996.

I have tried some night app, but they are not included nav bar / navigation bar icons. Night Screeen app included nav bar / navigation bar icons but status bar icons fixed whirte.
I didn't start getting retention until my phone started over heating. I you kill all back ground apps, turn off the screen until the cpu cools down, or any method that will allow the device cool the retention ghosting goes away. If you are a power user like me then you should probably do what I did which is get another phone because it may only get worse. No real burn in but the retention and ghosting. Also non of those apps to fix it works better than the methods I mentioned.

I think the v30 is oled so it wouldn't have the retention but there is always a possibility for burn in. I've had burn in on every Samsung I've owned. I chose to get a z2 force and I must say it is awesome plus it came with oreo in stalled for only $375 online at Tmobile

To be honest I've never called any of the manufacturers for any of the phones I've had. Most of the nagging issues that I've encountered with my phones, I always turn to root and XDA for support because the guys in this community are much more helpful than any customer service rep or tech support I've ever talked. For instance the overheating of the V20, I saved my self precious time talking to reps by rooting and using the the thermal fix in this thread. That is why I never buy phones that I can't root, you get faster fixes and updates on XDA than the manufacturers.

I agree. But I do not have enough time to go to the community for help. Usually I will ask the manufacturer, if it is not a hardware problem I will ignore it, but if there is no system update for a long time, I would think this manufacturer does not care about user experience and security. So I will not buy some stuffs from this Chinese manufacturer.
