Any Solutions or Buildprop edits I can do?
I don't have internet where i live, (Rural Texas) but I have 30 Mbps speeds on my T-Mobile Plan. I have unlimited 4G data and Unlimited 4G Hot spot. I used PDA-net because speeds through Hot spot/Tethering are complete ****. PDA-net masks my USB tethered through phone usage so I get Full Unthrottled speed.
My issue is this, During heavy usage (Literally any time I am at home) my phone slowly dies and doesn't really charge. I have connected it through USB C to USB C cables, with USB 3.0 to USB C etc. Granted it takes around 18-20 Hours to die from 100% but still I think it shouldn't loose charge at all.
I know that the build prop used to have some line about max available current over USB. is there a way i can fix this situation?
Custom kernels usually have a way to change that if you have root and a custom kernel to flash

I'm not understanding something, if you have unlimited 4G Hotspot, why would you need to mask your tethering? Shouldn't you be able to tether to your hearts content without throttling?
I don't personally use PDAnet, but I do make use of USB tethering and don't have issues with charging while tethering. I don't have unlimited tethering however, and was unaware there was such an add-on to a plan. I use another method to mask my tethering data and use the native tether options to connect.
Wifi tethering is limited to a 72Mb connection(max theoretical), while USB is around 480Mb or so.
I would try and test native USB tethering first to rule out PDAnet as the drain.

OK, so I don't want to use EasyTether or PDANet. I also don't want to pay Sprint a penny more than what I am already paying them. So, I start hacking, debuggin, looking, searching for ways to get the usb tethering working. Here is what I found.
If I turn off Wifi on my laptop, connect PC to EVO via USB and enable WiFi on the EVO, then connect to my WirelessN LinkSys Router.
AND when I connect I choose the USB Tethering option.
It works, what.....yeah, it works.
13.47MB down/3.78MB up, life it good.
I am rooted, used the downgrade to 2.1, root with unrevoke, upgrade to 2.2 procedure defined here at XDA.
Now the caveat, if I use 3G and not WiFi, I get the notorous Error Code: 67
Now, somewhere in this haystack at XDA I saw a thread talking about cheat codes, but for the life of me, I can't find it now.
What I am thinking is SPRINT disabled the modem, I need the code to enable the modem. OR, Sprint did something to disable the feature, need the code to enable the feature.
Anybody ???
um... if you're rooted just install Cyanogen rom and use the built in USB tethering without having all that funky bs. Works with WIFI + 3G.

Are you sure you are connected to the phone itself and not to the original wireless network? Your upload speeds seems out of place... even on 4G it should be close to 1 Mbps, download speed also seems suspicious... a few members have hit 10 Mbps but 13 sounds way off.

i agree.
the phone is picking up the data connection from the router, and passing it along to your laptop. therefore the laptop is just getting its net from the router as well. you are not "tethering" off of your mobile data.
I have the same problem.. I called Sprint and they said I had to pay 30$ to use the usb modem.
By the way, I tested my speed in NYC and it reached 10Mbps on download and 1Mbps in upload. There are some places in NYC where you can get 4G signal.
lol... your just using wifi from your router
Ok, so I use easytether and wireless tether sometimes , but my download speed on my laptop compared to my phone are terrible. Is this a normal occurrence, or am I missing something.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post about this, but I have a Note 3 (not on contract) and I am with 3 mobile (uk)
I have no broadband Internet and likely won't for a while, I use my phone for USB tethering and purchase the unlimited data package when topping up, but 3 clamp down on tethering after 3pm all the way until midnight. After midnight I get speeds up to 2.8MB/s. As I use it for gaming on my pc I do not like the 9hr wait after 3pm. Is there any way to work around this?
USB tethering is the only way I can tether to my pc as it has no wireless card.
Phone is rooted running stock rom and kernel.
I have tried PDAnet / Foxfi's USB tethering, but to no avail.
Tldr: tethering speeds clamped after 3pm until midnight, looking for a way around the clamping (not on contract).
Hello, I was wondering if there is an app or a means of using your WiFi hotspot without the service provider limits the seem to come all too quick? I have seen other apps such as elixir listed as a go-around but uncertain how to either set it up or know if it's working.
what about PDAnet ? Works for me ,wont ever max your 10gb hotspot limit. But you will want the unlimited plan.
Cons of PDAnet : Requires a PC Windows or Mac
& USB Data cable has to be attached the whole time
This is more for people who live in rural-ish areas (Like Me), who can't get decent internet for gaming.
I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS METHOD ON BLUETOOTH OR WIFI TETHERING, ONLY USB.
People who use Verizon tethering as a everyday necessity for home PC access, knows there's a 10-15gig cap.
I'm sure you all use a app like PDANET+ or so on to bypass it, but don't you notice the increased latency?
(Can also cause increased speeds because you're technically using Verizon's tethering, not PDANET+'s)
This is a fix for that, more like a bypass I suppose.
1) Install/Purchase PDANET+ from play store.
(I'd link it, but this is my first post, they won't let me.)
2) Turn on USB tethering in app, BUT DO NOT CLICK CONNECT ON YOUR PC YET.
3) Turn on USB tethering on through your phone and connect it to your PC.
(Let this connect)
.4) Now connect PDANET+ tethering through your PC.
Very simple.
What I've noticed is that PDANET+'s connection is not used but in fact STILL hides all tethering usage.
By inspecting my Ethernet in/outputs through task manager I noticed PDANET+'s connection is not in use.
But the original phone tether is, if you watch it, while opening a website, it will show 0kbps sent and received.
BUT the graph will show that it's actually sending a full speed NON-throttled connection.
Which means you're getting fasted speeds, and better latency typically (not in all cases) than PDANET+'s.
That's about it for my first post, ya'll play around with it.
Thanks!
II would like to USB tether my PH-1 to my router using an ethernet to USB adapter. To use USB tether you apparently need a powered USB connection. Is there a way around this so I can tether to an ethernet adapter?
I'm not sure what you mean by tether, but if you're just trying to get an Ethernet connection for your PH-1, I got a simple, unpowered USB-C to Ethernet adapter off scamazon for about $10. It works great. Much faster D/Ls than any wifi.

AyUaxa, can you tell be the exact procedure you use to connect your USB-C ethernet adapter? It sounds like you use a different method than Hotspot & Tethering -> USB Tethering.

1. buy one of these, using scamazon smile to benefit a charity: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00M77HMU0/ref=sspa_mw_detail_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pldnSite=1&th=1
2. plug dongle's male USB C into PH1s female USB C. maybe carry them around in the same pocket for a while, go for coffee or dinner or something, so they get to know each other first. if either isn't cisgendered, make appropriate apologies.
3. plug a good ethernet cable into an open port on your router and the other end into the female ethernet port on the dongle. at this point, don't worry about the niceties--routers are easy and the dongle's already committed.
4. Use pulldown on PH1 to turn off wifi and 4G to confirm internet connection through ethernet. There should be a <--> icon in the status bar.
5. Surf internet at high, wired speed until battery dies. I don't think it's necessary to turn off wifi and 4G to get the ethernet connection to work, but since battery life is an issue, unless you've got a USB C splitter that allows you to charge while connected to the dongle, I turn those off to conserve battery.
QED!

I am pretty sure the OP wants to do the opposite of what you are suggesting... Tethering usually means using the data connection of the phone to provide the internet access to the other device(s). Typically, this is done by setting up the phone as a WiFi hotspot, but the idea here is to use the wired Ethernet connection to the router instead, so all devices connecting to the router would use the internet connection shared by the phone.

kt-Froggy is correct, I want to share my phone internet connection with my router. Thanks
You figure out a way to hook up to router
Wanting to do the same thing, and that is, provide internet service to router through cell phone.
Any suggestions on how it may be done

A USB-c to ethernet cable... Then plugged into the incoming port on the router...
Use my mobile data plan for home
Since I have true unlimited data plan with carrier I plan to use Essential exclusively as a hotspot phone to provide internet through a router AP for the house. Looking for an adapter to hardwire to router -act as access point- and that the phone is charged while in use. I've tested through wifi and it works through an Asus router, but I want to see if I get better speed if hardwire to router.
Thanks for the information I'll look into it.
You might also consider getting a USB splitter that allows your ph-1 to charge while USB Ethernet tethering.
I did this for a period of time with a different phone and having it plugged in continuously for a few months, it wrecked the battery and not sure if it was related, but the screen got all funky.
My alternate plan to remedy that was to use my phone's wifi hotspot, installed Open-WRT on a spare rPi I had laying around (maybe you can install it on your router if you check out their compatibility list?) and then I set up a Tasker event to automatically turn on a WiFi-enabled plug when my phone got down to 20% battery.
I suppose you could do the wired Ethernet adapter with a USB splitter and a WiFi-enabled smartplug if you're die-hard about having it wired.
I might also recommend putting your router in bridge mode (or at least disable the DHCP server) so your phone is giving out IP addresses, so you don't have a bunch of extra translation. LTE and WiFi have enough latency, adding another layer of NAT probably won't help if you're doing anything time-sensitive like gaming.
Just my 2¢.
Good luck!
(Might I inquire what service you're using that provides unlimited data? I was grandfathered in to an old Verizon contract with true unlimited data but unfortunately the contract owner was swindled by a sales rep to "upgrade to a new plan that would save [you] $15 a month" ? so I'm in the market for a new contract (or even prepaid if such a data option exists. I'm currently testing Google Fi, but the PH-1, being a compatible phone, not "Designed for Fi" I'm stuck on TMO which has almost no service in my area so unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to stick with Fi))
I have "Sprint Unlimited Family" supposedly true unlimited until 50gigs then may be throttled down based on congestion of network.
Tried Asus RT-AC68U router as AP through USB 3.0 cable and it worked perfectly. Need to look into tasker to see if it works so phone is not always charging

Since some time there is an ethernet therthering option on my note 10+ 5G.
I use it to as an uplink on my router.
I initialy used an old usb A ethernet dongle with an adapter.
I recenly got some poe to usb c pd adapter from aliexpress, about 80$ a pice.
This way my phone gets power and can sharw its ethernet connection over just one cable.
Because my router is just a vm, and all ports to it are just v-lans i can easy configure 1 ore more of the ports of my poe switch to be wan.
Side note: i use openmptcprouter for wan bonding, i get near 100mb/s dl and ul in the country side, just using 3 lte modems and my phone in ethernet therthering mode.
