s5 g900f stuck at boot vibrates twice - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys, got a galaxy s5 g900f, seems to have a problem with booting up
symptoms are itll boot to the first "samsung galaxy s5" splash screen, then it goes blank gives two small vibrations, then reboots to the same splash screen and just repeats this over and over
sometimes it will boot if left for about an hour, but this rarely happens
anyone have any ideas or is it dead?

anyone have a clue??

My S5 acted the same way. I tried all the tricks that I found on the Internet. Nothing worked. Samsung Service wanted $245 to replace the mainboard. My local repair shop said it is not worth repairing. I sent it to another repair shop and they tried to repair the mainboard. ($85.00) It worked for about a day then quit again. They now want another $60 to replace the mainboard. They are giving me the $85 towards the new board. Before the S5 I had two S4's. Both of them died from failed mainboards. No more top of the line Samsung phones for me. I am using an old S3 which may be the best model Samsung ever made. I think Samsung quality has gone drastically down hill. I bought my wife a Xiaomi Mi5. She loves it and says it is faster and has a better camera the S5. She says that if I get the S5 repaired that I can keep it. No way will she give up her Mi5. The question is how long the Chinese phone will last.

sounds like i may have the same problem. the s5 was just a stop gap from a friend who had upgraded when i smashed my z ultra, i now have the s7 edge, but would like the s5 to work as a backup/spare phone just incase.
ill keep playing around with it, i cant get anywhere with it yet, cant even access recovery, it says recovery booting then just reboots lol.

I may be wrong but I seriously doubt it. Your phone is acting exactly like mine did.

LOL, I sold one of the S4's to a local repair shop for US $15. You are doing better than I did.

My Focus is dead, won't charge, won't turn on, strange smell coming from the battery

I just plugged my Focus to my laptop and after a while when I was going to make a call I noticed it was dead. Tried pulling the battery out and then putting it back on and nothing, what happens is that it vibrates more than the usual when I try to turn the phone on, but it is still dead.
Then I took the battery out again, then put it back on, tried the 3 button hard reset and the screen showed a lot of blue lines in the center of the screen and you can see the SAMSUNG logo but not so clearly.
While I was trying everything to solve the issue, I noticed a strange smell coming from the battery and the pins where the charge goes through the phone. But just the smell, no liquid or something similar.
I am in Costa Rica, so I can't take it to an ATT store. Any suggestions? Someone with a similar problem?
I am one of the few other blessed individuals to have my Focus go haywire and stop working. Only difference is mine would do random hard resets, and then eventually it stopped loading into the phone and stuck on the Samsung logo with crazy vibrations going on. I just sent my phone to the Samsung repair center last week.
At this point, you may want to just call up Samsung directly and talk to them about it. More than likely it will be covered under the manufacturers warranty.
1-800-SAMSUNG (726-7864)
Since you’re in Costa Rica I’m not sure how they would handle it, so I can’t help you there.
Thanks for the info. Yes my Focus was working great, I bought it like 6 months ago and not a single issue until yesterday.
I am not sure if I am covered by any warranty, because I bought it through eBay, so I think not even Samsung directly is covering me...
Well thanks for the help!

I actually traded my Samsung Captivate with someone for their Focus on Craigslist. I just sent in my Focus last week to the repair center, and apparently it's already ready, and most importantly covered. I think the end of August marks the one year mark of the Manufacturer’s warranty just an FYI.
Just like jaraya13 said below... do not mention Ebay. Just say you received the phone as a gift. I told them my family member could not find the receipt since they purchased the phone 8 months ago

[Q] Hard brick..

My phone is hard bricked. When I try to turn it on there is absolutely no response. The screen does not light up, the phone does not vibrate. Absolutely nothing. I'm pretty positive there is nothing I can do about this. I called sprint and they said take it to the store and if their techs can not do anything about it then they will send me a new phone. Is there anyway the techs could tell my phone has had roms on it or been rooted and therefore not send me a new phone? Also does anyone have any ideas on any solutions? I've tried odin and recovery, nothing is happening at all even when plugged in to USB or wall charger.
From other users experiences on various forums, it is generally seen that if the phone wont turn on then they can't tell if its been superusered, rooted, or had the rom blown to bits, just make sure to remove your sd card first to eliminate most possibilities of them finding out.

A lot of things actually.. First thing was I tried to boot in recovery from the rom and nothing happened so I pulled the battery out and put it back in and let the phone charge all night but it never charged overnight and when I woke up it was so hot I could barely hold it. So I tried to go to download mode and at the time I could so I downloaded the stock files and went to flash it to stock in Odin figuring it was the rom. The phone shut off during the middle of flashing the system.img and after that I somehow managed to get it to recovery and I was wiping the cache to flash the stock rom zip file and then it just shut off and every pixel on the screen slowly started turning like green and then flashed really bright and that's when it officially died.

Something similar happened to me and it ended up being a dead battery because the phone wouldn't charge it. I pulled my battery, charged it on a universal charger and was able to get it into Download mode. That was just my experience though. I hope you get it figured out.

My friend has an s4 as well and I tried his battery with no luck. Thanks though
Here is what you need to check for, plug it into the pc, go to device manager, under ports, the device should show up, what does it show?
If it says anything like QLOAD or similar (sorry been awhile) you are hard bricked, and a jtag service would be the only way, now if you exchange the device with sprint, it will be ok until some tech reviews it and plugs in his equipment, he may see the same, tmo tried get me to pay way back in my..mytouch days, had another issue with att early on, they didn't ever say anything, it was a hardware issue on that one.
bottom line, look in device manager first.
The Ax says good luck.

LOL. Who the hell do you think the cost goes to if Sprint gives everyone a new phone that bricks it while flashing ROMs? Sprint is a business and what costs the company money costs the customer money.

It's not that simple though. I'm sure a Sprint allocates a specific amount of funds every year for equipment replacement. I'm sure those getting replacements for bricking their phones makes up a very small percentage of the replacements they send out every year.

And what do you think would happen if a large portion of Sprints customers started bricking their phone's? Completely locked bootloaders, prices of everything including monthly plans, insurance and phones going up? I know when I had the S3 I saw several bricks a week from people messing with things that they shouldn't and by not following instructions. So in the end whether you realize it or not you and I pay for it. And going into Sprint and acting innocent like you have no idea what happened to your phone is fraud. Plain and simple.

I understand that. I have had insurance on 4 lines for 3 years and have used it once. I was more than happy to use the insurance but they offered to give me a new phone so I'm not turning that down. Sprint has earned plenty of money from me

[Q] Warranty Replacement Experience

My AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge started having problems with the display. Showed up as a single vertical line all the way down the right side of the screen. Called AT&T Troubleshooting Support and they said it was a known problem and they were going to send me a new phone.
My question is does the phone warranty start over or does it continue as the original phone? As I only have about 3 months left on the original phone. Just wondering what other's experience has been.
Thanks...

the warranty actually restarts with the replacement device so your good.

Broken screen - what should I do?

So, you read the title.

The thing is it does not turn on, but the phone still works
When I dropped it and I tried to turn it on, I saw green glitches on one side of the screen.
So, I need tips
What should I do? Customer support is doing nothing, because is a problem that i made.
How much will normal J5 screen cost? Can it be repaired?
Thanks,

Repairing screen will cost around €100 from official distributes, but you can try to repair on an electronic repair shop (one who repair smartphone parts), maybe you can have more luck with the price.
In last case buy new phone. (Don't buy J500H )

Well, it has a little spider-web at the side of the screen. LCD broken. Screen not turning on.
I think it will be better that I replace it myself, but the one thing I will hate is no Samsung logo at the top of the screen because my friends will call me "cheap fck"

That wouldn't bother if its cheap at least u have a phone bro
Hi, this topic is as close to my problem as I can get. I have bought a new screen for my Samsung J530F and have removed the scattered screen. However, when I placed the new one and tried to turn the phone on, the display works only in the sense of showing stuff, but is not touch-responsive, ie I cannot control the phone.
My rather noobie and perhaps stupid question is: is the display supposed to work rightaway, or shall I assemble the phone fully before the touch-control kicks in?
I don't really care about the phone, it's the data that are inside. Most of it is on a SD card, so I'm fine, but some pieces in the internal memory are valuable for me (but not worth 100 euros for a new screen in a repair shop).
Anyway, I bought a cheap screen to give it a try - it's the TFT version. Perhaps that could play a role?
Thanks in advance for any help or nudge!

Galaxy s8 defective Samsung wont replace it, what to do?

Hello everyone, I have been an android user for around 5 consistent years now and I got an LG g4 when it first came out, well after about a year of use it broke so I was without a phone for months, so I waited for the galaxy s8, I pre-order it, and I should have learned my lesson about buying phones right when they come out, I did that with my LG g4 and it had that hardware bug. Anyways I have had the phone for awhile now and it has started to freeze, the screen shuts off and won't respond for a few minutes, it will freeze for 2 seconds then shut down and reboot, the battery life is about 2 hours at 100% charge, it gets burning hot while charging and sometimes while I use it and about 2 weeks ago, I had picked up my phone off my desk and looked at the back of it and it was cracked, I know I didn't drop it either because if I do I will look at it for a good 20 minutes and the room I was in has very soft carpet so it won't break, then last Saturday I went on vacation and my I woke up that morning and grabbed my phone, and what yah know it was broken on the front and worse on the back, and I know 100 that I didn't drop it then either, because it was on the charger, so I called Samsung today, a few times actually, the people could barely speak English, were very rude and were giving me wrong information, and the problem is they want $205 to fix the screen, well why would I pay for something #1 I didn't break #2 it's defective, so why would I pay to have the screen fixed on a defective piece of hardware? So right now I am at a loss and I'm very upset, So basically I turn to my favourite form in my hour of need to ask what I should do, and I can't return it either because I'm making payments on it over sprint, also I may be uninformed of the situation because I have never had this issue, so any help you can give me is extremely appreciated
Device information: Samsung Galaxy s8 sm-g950u Arctic silver.
any questions and any answers or help or anything would be extremely appreciated
Not sure if this will help or not, but it sounds like your battery is bad and expanding inside of your phone.
Good luck bro, getting a free replacement for a cracked screen is almost impossible... I kno, I dropped 2 lg g2's in a 2weeks time span of initially getting the ****ing thing... went thru my carrier "Verizon" to get a replacement, although it worked out in the end for me cause the 2nd time I dropped the g2, they didn't have anymore g2 replacements so they sent me a g3 instead... if u have insurance thru ur carrier that's ur cheapest n best bet
You don't need to deal with Samsung directly as it sounds like you purchased the phone through Sprint. Take it to a Sprint store and explain what is happening or call customer support if you wish. They will be much easier to work with. To reiterate call Sprint not Samsung.

Already talked to them, they wont do anything they told me to contact samsung.
Maybe you was sleepwalking and you broke your screen? Joking. Now seriously your screen it's cracked. What do you expect from Samsung? "Yo my screen it's cracked! How did you cracked? I didn't cracked yo! Then how did it got cracked? I don't know...magic yo!"
Just pay the 200$, get your phone fixed and move on..
I am with the first commentary. I have a repair store here in France and I have seen 3 batteries swell up and break the screen. Not much you can do. Warranty will only get you so far. It seems the customer service ppl are there more to deflect the customers away more than to help. They are hoping For you to give up period .And move on so if you just keep trying and pressuring them though replace your phone if not your only option is To pay the $200 .
