For those that have or are getting their N1's could you do a review of battery life compared to your previous phones. I haven't seen anyone report on battery life. I'm curious to see what kind of battery life N1 has due to the big screen and fast processor.

I could be wrong here, but won't the big screen size be somewhat offset by the fact that it is an AMOLED screen? I am not sure what the difference in power draw is...
Nelson,
7 hours of talk time? Not bad!
after rooting the phone, when i check on my battery usage, it suprised me that the main battery usage is not standby anymore. instead, it says 80% on display, but i didn't use the phone that much today and the battery drops pretty fast. alot worse than before root. anyone know what happens?
I noticed that in the Battery Usage the display is always first with a really great percentage, BUT if you use Spare Parts you will see the normal usage.
So, I think it's just a bug.
My battery is better than before actually!
My battery life is much worse actually, I think i have the 020 root, not sure, as in my phone settings it says FW 020. I thought id downloaded the 023 root though...

My battery seems better but I just noticed something, the little battery graph on top of the phone, there are 5 stages if I remember correctly (5/5 being full and 0/5 being mostly empty). So math wise, under 80% it should display the battery at 3/5 full, mine is at 70% and displays 4/5 full, is sony trying to screw us or did I do something wrong?
How is the battery holding up for most folks?
I've been using Atrix for a few hours tonight (perhaps a bit more than normal use was on my Nexus) and I've already used 50%. Thats pretty crappy for whats proclaimed to be a large, long-lasting battery.
What should I be doing to improve battery life on this device?
Thanks.
I've seen the same poor battery performance. I'm hoping after being on the charger all night I'll see the battery performance that I've read about.

It's called "New Battery Syndrome give it a week, you will settle into your normal usage pattern and you will really see fantastic battery life.
Pretty much, you have a new toy, you want to play with it as much as possible, thus you run it more than you may have used your previous devices thus effectively running the battery down faster.
Mine seems to be pretty great. Have had the display on for about two hours straight and it only drained 20%
naturefreak probably nailed it. most batteries seem to last longer after they've been discharged and recharged a few times.... on top of playing with it for probably just about the entire day..... BOUND to see less-than-expected battery life.
I just came from an S3 and had read so many horror stories about the battery life of the Nexus 4. It arrived last night and I didn't bother checking out the stock rom as I immediately flashed AOKP with franco kernal and let me say...battery life has been great thus far. No question it is an improvement over my S3.
So for those who are having major battery issues, I suggest trying a custom rom/kernal.
Thanks to all the developers...I was nervous about making the switch to Nexus, but am very happy so far.
Well yeah....did you try everything on stock and see the battery life from there?
I haven't either. LOL.

How could you possibly know whether the battery life is good or not if you've only had the device for less than 24 hours.
The battery life on one of my Nexus 4s was great for about a week, then it slowly turned to crap.
The battery life on my other is still holding strong...
With my experience, battery life generally gets better as you go through a few cycles. I charged to 100% and with an hour of screen time and 5 hours up time today, I am only at 85%...and I've been on HSPA practically the entire time. With my S3, I would drain 5-8% an hour on HSPA with zero on screen time.
The Z3 is a nice device, I enjoy the screen, thinness and weight, but the latter two definitely come at the expense of battery life.
Of course the faster CPU also plays a part. I'm just getting 3 hours of on screen time with my usage out of it. On the Z2 I got 4 hours.
I don't even know what these people do who get an insane 10 hours of screen on time out of theirs. Probably different kind of use, but still...
Once again I need to look having an external battery with me.
Disappointed.

Post your battery stats page. Seems odd to me. I have 2.5 hours of on screen time with 10 hours on battery at 78% at the moment.
I noticed that too since I switch from Z2. Its difficult to see from the power management tool indicating how many screen time ect.. the battery life just don't seems to be better then z2, and results and very random.. sometimes better then z2, sometimes worst then z2. Perheps firmware upgrade will help..

I have rolled through 3 Z3s due to defects on my 4th, all had great battery life up to 8.5 hours SOT, lowest is about 5 hrs SOT, before calibration. Give it a few charging cycles, or do a full charge and full discharge then recharge and use. You should then be fine. If that does not work maybe you got some errant apps or lots of them continously syncing. Also go to backup and reset menu and disable data logging.
been averaging a day and a half with over 8 hrs SOT with mine. mix of wifi/lte
I don't know how you guys do it. I always get around 3 hours SOT, no matter what. I wish there was a way to check wakelocks without root.

I think it has something to do with the apps you use.
Facebook, facebook messenger, snapchat, swiftkey and Nova Launcher gave me from 4+ estimated days (in stamina mode) to 1 day and 1 hours.
If I don't play games, I get between 6 and 8 hours SOT at the moment.
Check that google play services aren't burning through battery.
Should never get 2 or 3 or even 4 hours SOT unless you're playing games.
I use screen brightness on about 80% as well.
I'll be posting my power usage screenshots soon.
Off to the top off my head, screen was about 50% of power (with automatic brightness, and the slider set on the 1st third), the most power hungry app took about 25%, with the rest taken up by various other processes and apps.
WiFi off.
Facebook used to be a battery killer, I don't use it, but check on that.
Z3 has an incredible battery life
there's something wrong in the op
For my baterry stay perfectly (often 20% for system 20% standby and 50% screen)
Even if it's Facebook that eats 25% of power that still wouldn't account for the overall bad battery life.
Nope mate, sorry - my battery life is out of this world. It's not the Z3, it's your device - get it tested, re-flashed or inspected if the problem persists.

Oh no I already removed, I do not have any battery issues, I was just giving a tip to OP.
Right, so here are my power usage screen shots.
I don't think these can be called ok in any kind of scenario.
I would like to add that with my Z2 I didn't ever get up to the 6 or 7 hours other people were getting out of it, but with my kind of use I got 4 to 4.5 hours, which is considerably more than I'm getting right now.
I supposed it's kinda obvious, with a faster CPU and a smaller battery. What else could have happened. It just annoys me that Sony tries to tell us that battery life is BETTER than on the Z2. It is not.
Well, reviews uphold/confirm Sony's claims so its probably not the phone itself per say. I get 7-8.5 Hrs SOT easily. Disable autosync when un-needed and location services as well. Then see.
Just as everyone suspected, it's malwarebook causing abysmal battery life. Remove it and watch your phone get tons more battery.
Considering that you're one of the very few, if not only, getting poor battery.....I have no idea what else it could be. The phone get's better battery because of using the 801 SOC instead of the 800, which sips battery like fine wine, leading to the increase in life over the z2.
Malware.... Yeah, whatevs.
Fact remains that with the same usage as before my Z3 performs worse than my Z2, so there.
