My S7 Edge showing 3.3 gb Total Memory! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Shouldn't TOTAL RAM be 4 gb on this phone? I got the Carol blue brand new this week.

The missing 0,7 gb of ram is used by the system.

So you are saying that what you show on yours as well?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to figure out why I'm having lag on a less than one week old phone. Frustrating.

Most likely the lag is caused by an app misbehaving. It can be fixed by uninstalling apps until the lag stops or you could try to perform a software update and to see if that makes a difference to you.

That's normal. ~500MB are reserved for the system

64MB Extra Memory on Nexus One

Hi, All
Don't you think it would be sweet, if there was Radio released like the HD2 Update that unlocked 64MB Extra memory for the Nexus One.
The comparison with the Desire would be finished.
JAW$
It would be nice, but it's already so fast I don't think it would make a difference for the majority of Nexus One users.

Dont understand why you need it. Just looked at my phone with 19 processes running and 200 Mb avail. At any given time I never have less than 100Mb free mem. Does the Sense UI use more memory? Is that why you think we need more?

I find it funny this is coming from someone running the stock rom which means he's not getting all the ram there regardless...but hey, that's just me

Sense UI doesn't use much more I usually have 100MB to 200MB free with Sense UI. Also my phone feels much smoother with Sense UI rather than stock. On top of all that, we don't even have all our 512MB unlocked. I think its like 395MB.

Its 759 mb. To be expected. Some of it used by system, same way that only about 11.5 gb of the 16gb in your tablet is usable by you.

im running stock jellybean 4.1.1 firmware. It didnt update OTA so i used Kies on my PC (Kies is bugged as hell so anything i tried it wouldnt update on the PC (kept crashing etc), i then used the GF's macbook pro, updated straight away) try updating if it lets you, it might address more memory then?
you see things like this in windows aswell, when the system memory is shared with the video "card" a certain amount is allocated for the video "cards" processing abilities and it not available to the rest of the system. Perhaps that is what is happening here.

I downloaded it yesterday from SamMobile (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G920F/) and the only difference I can tell so far is that the LED flash light no longer stays always on. I didn't have memory leak issues so I can't speak to whether or not there was an improvement in that aspect.

have you checked your RAM? people are saying the RAM used went down from 400-500Mb free to 1.2Gb(I know how android works
myself are having like 400Mb free and if I close all apps and clear the RAM with Smart manager I get 900Mb free... 2.1Gb for only system RAM seems a bit to much in IMAO

Make sure adb, debugging is enabled in developer options then
adb pull /system/framework
There will be a services.odex in both the arm and arm64 folders in the framework folder. I need both of those along with services.jar in the framework folder.

Don't think too much on that. It is one of their apps that is installable on other phones. And is probably the best weather app on the play store.
Yawn!!
Look at this. Can zenui dialer and contacts be installed on other phones? I don't think so. M is coming soon.

If CM13 is anything to go by, I don't recommend using adoptable storage - it sucks hard. Says my class 10 sandisk card is same slow speed as my unbranded class 4 SD, forces downloaded apps to the SD card where they are slow or unresponsive, and by design is inconvenient. Not sure if Asus are including the feature anyway - Samsung and LG haven't on their new phones.

I agree it's not ideal, but it's the only way I know to encrypt a microSD card under Android. I can only speak for myself, but I'm willing to take a performance hit in exchange for additional security.
An ideal situation would be for Google to stop treating microSD slots as afterthoughts, and put some effort into fixing the whole miserable removable-storage situation. But I don't hold much hope for that, given that no Nexus device has ever had a microSD slot.
