Hi does anyone know the ram amount for the tab 2. I thought it was 1gb but task manager shows 759MB. I changed to jellybean a few days ago using the samsung kies program. Im sure it was 1gb before. Can someone please have a check on their tab 2 with jelly bean to see if its the same?
cheers
Maybe that`s the free/user ram???

Its 759 mb. To be expected. Some of it used by system, same way that only about 11.5 gb of the 16gb in your tablet is usable by you.

im running stock jellybean 4.1.1 firmware. It didnt update OTA so i used Kies on my PC (Kies is bugged as hell so anything i tried it wouldnt update on the PC (kept crashing etc), i then used the GF's macbook pro, updated straight away) try updating if it lets you, it might address more memory then?
you see things like this in windows aswell, when the system memory is shared with the video "card" a certain amount is allocated for the video "cards" processing abilities and it not available to the rest of the system. Perhaps that is what is happening here.

I also had 689 on stock 404. Seems we get a little more back with 411

Today the Galaxy S was finally released for Docomo users in Japan. I just picked mine up, and would really like to start messing around with stuff, but I'm not sure if it's the standard I9000 model or some other variant. I've attached a photo of the "About phone" screen.
android 2.2!!???
But it's a sh*t Froyo release like the Nodic one (JP6) or is the final release we are expecting in November??

Yeah not close enough though sadly, I was hoping to get 2.2 to use Skype to keep in touch with my family when I go on holiday... I fly tomorrow so going to have to use roaming and pay £1.65 a minute to call home...
But don't forget, this model is missing the front camera. so maybe the rom wont be compatible....
Would be very interesting to see any of these values:
ro.build.date (or ro.build.date.utc)
and
ro.build.changelist
This is final Froyo, look at the build number. JJ follows the standard letter code and is October 2010.
JMx and JPx are betas.

That code didn't seem to do anything. I downloaded the free quadrant and got a score of 1017, and it says that there is 309336 available total ram. Linpack was 14.014 MFLOPS (5.98 seconds).

Don't they all say Internal version? Mine also says internal (official JP6 from Kies when it was available here..)
And he hasn't done anything to it.

I am in Canada on Bell Mobility running the stock "official" JH2 Eclair 2.1 build and when I enter that code it says "Internal Version" as well so that is just the title of that menu.
Do you really think that Samsung would ship these phones with an "un-official" firmware on them? Im sure they would just have loaded it with an Asian version of 2.1 and made them wait for froyo like the rest of us.
Would you mind testing the GPS apps (if you can, install MyTracks and record something up), that would be awesome!
And, how's everything? Do you feel "lags" or lockups?
Thansk for sharing the info!
So.... today i dropped my phone (htc desire HD) and smashed the screen
and it really annoyed me for such a stupid mistake so i decided to cheer myself up and get another t mobile line out.
worst thing is my contract runs out in august so i only had a few months to wait.
but anyway.... i took the 2nd line and choose the galaxy note.
few questions.....
what will this start on? will it be 4.0.4 or will it be 3.2 something or other?
if its the 3.2 how hard is it for me to get straight onto 4.0.4?
will i need to root it?
I'm based in london, UK for anyone that might need to know.
note don't run on 3.x, most likely you will get a 2.3 phone. 4.03 was released few days ago in germany.
enjoy the wiki while you are waiting for the phone.

reason i went for note was....
I have a phone and a tablet, when im out i use my phone (htc desire HD)
indoors i use my tablet, so i thought i'd get something that can do what my tablet does, thats why i chose the note.
I do like the look of the s3, BUT... i want a bigger screen and the note is perfect for what im after.
all i want now is a link to where i can get this 4.0 from? as once the note arrives to me on tuesday, i really dont want the 2.3 crap that comes on it.
So can anyone guide me to the right thread/place ect, so i can update my new galaxy note to 4.0 ???

Nope, running CyanogenMod9 with no problems at all! Gotta be careful though, be sure to read the warning sticky before doing any flashing. It is a bit of reading, but it can very well prevent you from hardbricking/superbricking your shiny new Note.

You can, but the official ICS update contains an unsafe kernel that has already claimed Notes (don't know the details, but it's related to doing stuff in recovery). I wouldn't recommend official ICS if you plan on rooting/flashing.
I know that i9305 has 1GB more of RAM and has LTE but im confused about developer support. Everyone says that it has almost none developer support. Does that mean that even Samsung wont develope new updates and it will have less features than i9300, or it means that it wont have as much custom ROMs as i9300 has ?
If i9305 has the same updates and the same features that come with those as i9300, then ill go for i9305 for sure
And BTW i dont need LTE
Hope someone will answer fast
Thanks in advance!!

And also do i really need that extra 1GB of RAM ? I saw videos on youtube and only difference i noticed was that i9300 needs to reopen apps after it consumes too much RAM and that makes him a bit slower than i9305 everything else seemes exact same

Get the i9305. Even without the dev support, you'll still be able to find one or two decent roms. And these days everything is achieved by Xposed anyways. The newer updates from 4.3 on will really need the extra ram.

Well the dev support is great with 9300, also i don't see ram as an issue too. It depends upon whether he's a heavy multi-task user or lowe multi-task user? I'm pretty happy with 200-300mb ram free always

If we get stock 4.4 on our I9300, won't it be supposed to consume less ram than stock 4.3 ? After all the whole point of KitKat was less ram consumption.
I'm actually expecting when samsung releases 4.4 for our device it will greatly improve multitasking... hope I'm not wrong.

I downloaded it yesterday from SamMobile (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G920F/) and the only difference I can tell so far is that the LED flash light no longer stays always on. I didn't have memory leak issues so I can't speak to whether or not there was an improvement in that aspect.

Most likely the lag is caused by an app misbehaving. It can be fixed by uninstalling apps until the lag stops or you could try to perform a software update and to see if that makes a difference to you.
