I know that i9305 has 1GB more of RAM and has LTE but im confused about developer support. Everyone says that it has almost none developer support. Does that mean that even Samsung wont develope new updates and it will have less features than i9300, or it means that it wont have as much custom ROMs as i9300 has ?
If i9305 has the same updates and the same features that come with those as i9300, then ill go for i9305 for sure
And BTW i dont need LTE
Hope someone will answer fast
Thanks in advance!!
You're better off buying another device, perhaps a Nexus 5 or even the newer SGS if money is not a problem.

Well i kinda dont have money for better device And i find S3 the best phone for me right now but that developer support for i9305 bothers me
And also do i really need that extra 1GB of RAM ? I saw videos on youtube and only difference i noticed was that i9300 needs to reopen apps after it consumes too much RAM and that makes him a bit slower than i9305 everything else seemes exact same

What are you missing on the development front for i9305? The major roms etc seems to be available for both models as far as i can see.

I don't need custom ROMs Im just confused about what "developer support" means
I understood that Samsung works on updating i9305 not as much as on i9300
And i forgot to say, i heard that i9300 has a better camera Is that right ?

depending on where you live/LTE coverage. there isnt too much of a difference between the 2 devices. i used my i9300 and my uncles i9305 and couldnt notice much if anything. so if you dont need LTE save yourself some money and buy a good case or something

Get the i9305. Even without the dev support, you'll still be able to find one or two decent roms. And these days everything is achieved by Xposed anyways. The newer updates from 4.3 on will really need the extra ram.

Well the dev support is great with 9300, also i don't see ram as an issue too. It depends upon whether he's a heavy multi-task user or lowe multi-task user? I'm pretty happy with 200-300mb ram free always

If we get stock 4.4 on our I9300, won't it be supposed to consume less ram than stock 4.3 ? After all the whole point of KitKat was less ram consumption.
I'm actually expecting when samsung releases 4.4 for our device it will greatly improve multitasking... hope I'm not wrong.

am i missing something or there really is no custom ROM for Flipout? no cyanogen, MIUI, cronos or anything? the only custom rom i found is (ROM) FlipDroidMod2.1_SoftMod[wip](no blur) ..is that all? i don't wanna complain or anything.. i'm just surprised as i have Milestone and there's plenty of ROMs for that one though it has locked bootloader like Flipout..

it was an auction server like ebay.. some guy bought it last month, tried it and didn't like it so i bought it from him for 238$ which was pretty good since i'd have to pay 415$ if i wanted to buy it by myself from a shop.
here i can find it for 110 euros
http://www.monclick.it/schede/motorola/SM2102AD3H1/flipout.htm
I started forgetting shops and ebay for phones:
- online stores or mobile providers for phones
- ebay for covers, repair kits, batteries and accessories
btw, I'm using it @500mhz with no prob (you can set it to max 250mhz too to save battery) so it can support gingerbread easily
Motorola is quite strange: it uses .sbf roms instead of common .zip ones
So clockwork recovery must be ported and then roms can be cooked easily I guess
With this price it can find a place in many pockets and the physical keyboard is a plus for it

110EUR is a great price.. maybe even a weird price
i'd get it from online store as well but than that offer came up so i took advantage of it.
anyway, it seems to have the same processor (Cortex-A8) as my Milestone/Droid so it might be a good thing to port it from other Motorola device like this. Well that might sound pretty stupid 'cause it might be so obvious.. i really don't know anything about porting, sorry. I also have Openrecovery which seems to be a port of clockwock. Guess i'm gonna ask somebody with porting experience..

first, i actually meant just Milestone, not Milestone XT..
second, TI OMAP3410 is Cortex-A8 based..
OMAP is apparently something like chipset (SoCs) so though Milestone has different "chipset" from Flipout.. both have the same CPU core (Cortex-A8) though the devices still might be running different frequencies as the Cortex has wide frequency scaling range
..so it still might be a chance for a good porting base... i guess..
and the price seems to me suspiciously low, but that might be only because in here the Flipout is expensive.

so it's probably time to open a moonclick/amazon store in your country too !
I just got an unlocked flipout...kind of impulsively when I thought I had lost my phone (less than 1 year into its 2 year contract)....probably wouldn't have if I had read the forum first. But, my old phone turned up....
So, if there's a way to upgrade its ROM, I'm interested. And, I'd be interested in helping....its been a long time since I've done anything like this, but sounds like something I could dive into now (though I may still activate my FlipOut just so I can get data occasionally when I'm not near WiFi...)
The Dreamer.
So.. i have my new Flipout. Gotta tell it's an awesome thing.. though the display is really bad. Anyway, i already had to flash it several times i hated the old lockscreen so i modded framework-res with resources from froyo..but it has some weird issue which i hope get fixed somewhere in the config files.
Another thing.. phone memory. I'm not an app freak but i like my.. apps, ok i'm a freak. Anyways.. i'm already running low on phone storage so right now i'm heading for memhack.. if anyone already done that with Flipout, let me know.
EDIT: ok, i've just built in memhack and it's working now so never mind. if anyone interested, i can post instructions.

its not about the device, its all about us, hehe, no really, im so angry samsung made this device with a firmware like that, my rom so far is the closest thing any i9100 user will get to TWUX, hopefully this will help, and are you porting the sgs3 rom?
That is QVGA, too small for our screen.
and the point of this port is?
ur joking right? it has a smaller screen resolution so the interface will look crap and pixelated if its running on S2 native resolution..
even if its TWUX it doesn't mean it have the same features as S3. heck, it comes no where closer to S2 in terms of software and hardware..
i know that, **** the phone, lets check out the kernel, boot img etc.
it doesnt need a complicated kernel, because its only maybe a 200 mb rom,
idk, i was just putting it out there, it might help someone, and i know its not hdpi,

space?
space is not a problem, a slim cm12 rom like SlimCM could have enough free space, and moving all posible apps to SD would help to, and ART would be good for a second life to our phone.
But, about the hardware limitations, there is maybe some way to use the 3.4 drivers with 3.10 kernels? And, I ask, did the 3.4 kernel initially support our devices?

KitKat was already developed for low end devices, as it only needs 512 MB RAM and has a low graphics mode. But Lollipop needs more process power for its animations and other new features. I know it's sad, but we all knew that this journey would come to an end one day.
But that's just my two cents, maybe someone will port L and it works good [emoji6]

We've had a good run though. Our galaxy S has had some incredible support from A LOT of incredible devs. In fact were still getting new ROMs and updates now even after all the years our phones have been about. I don't think that L will run smoothly, but most likely we will see L hitting our phones, and maybe some dev will find a way of getting this to run well on our phones. Devs seem to love a challenge. It's thanks to such great devs that I'm still using my S1 as my daily driver after 4 years even after changing phones once, not liking the upgrade, and coming back.

Truthfully all my porting skills are in my head and I never followed any links to do so.
The s4 has a 801 processor which would be a very good difference from what is in the n4 so matching up a touchwiz ROM init filed on kit Kat would be my starting place to see what the differences are from there.
Then from there it comes down to figuring out the differences in lib since most touchwiz changed are in the frameworks.
In the end, you would end up with more mako then s4 which is what you want

I was thinking king about this too. I am a fan of AOSP Roms, but the camera quality is always neutered so badly on samsung phones, it's not worth it. Not to mention other stuff like finger print scanner and the edge stuff. We have root and a theme engine as well as exposed, it's pretty good.
The only phone that I used CM on that was worth it from Samsung was the note 4 because somebody made a camera nightshot fix, the pic quality was indistinguishable from TW, but that was an exception.
